A thread for Local Game Store related things. Some questions to get things started: >Is your LGS good?>What are some types of players to be encountered and how to deal with them if they're not the good kind of autist?>Is your LGS community good?>What are the cultures and customs of your LGS?
>>98515335Bastards at my LGS book out every table every other night so it's impossible to have a single pickup game of anything, it's all just tournaments and events. There's like 20 tables, it's not a small LGS.
>>98515345(me)It is a pretty good place though, and the people working there are all very nice. I just wish I could actually play there more often outside of events.Gah! If only they weren't so nice, and fewer people wanted to play there!
My LGS is small downtown location with no room for game tables and I don't go there often because the bus routes in my city are retarded and set up to funnel students to the university not bring people from the outskirts to the core so there is no direct route from my subdivision to downtown and I don't like having to transfer twice to get there. Also downtown is full of homeless and junkies who hang out on the street the store is located on. Yes I realize my post is more about bitching about my town than the LGS itself.
My LGS used to be a GW but it moved out of the mall after the they hiked their rent prices. It really sucked because I liked going in there for pickup games.
>>98515335>Is your LGS good?It was until parents at the mall started using it as a daycare while they shopped.>What are some types of players to be encountered and how to deal with them if they're not the good kind of autist? Most were fairly normal guys but there was a tendency for some of them to swarm around and try to talk to female players who came into the store, there were out of like 40ish regulars there were 3 women. >Is your LGS community good?It was for a few years during 4th and 5th editions of 40k and I also recruited people for D&D campaigns from their but the inshitification began once they stopped kicking out kids who weren't buying anything see my first point.>What are the cultures and customs of your LGS?Didn't have any. The closet I can think of is people eating at the mall food court after a game.
>>98515335>Is your LGS good? There's a weird amount of them here. One is pretty good. Another is like a clubhouse for the owner's friends and feels like a 90's/00's era store with a super cramped backroom etc. A couple are almost entirely aimed at card faggots. One is run by an owner who is pretty checked out after 30 years.>Is your LGS community good?Pretty decent guys other than how they figure out the most competitive way to play any game. A bit of snowflake syndrome too. I mean, maybe I shouldn't complain about a scene with healthy support for niche games but I find it off-putting when there's a Necromunda campaign without a single house gang or a Mordheim one without a single Empire/mercenaries player.
>>98515335Local game store literally posted pic related to its socials to boast about its tabletop gaming scene. Owners are retarded, customers are retarded. That’s about as succinctly as anyone can sum up a lgs
>>98516044You can't drop this bit of lore and leave anon
>>98515335My lgs is very tribalisticUr either part of the group, or an autist to make fun off
>>98515727Where the fuck do you live?
>>98516044LMAO link to socials?
>>98515335>>Is your LGS good?It was. I shared in the /vent/ thread, but after nearly 20 years me and my group got effectively kicked out because the owner sold the place (I found this out recently sad to say) and now they just cater to TCG fags.>>What are some types of players to be encountered and how to deal with them if they're not the good kind of autist? It was mainly just wargame and TTRPG losers. A big board game following too now that I think about it. The TCG players we would see there was a small group and they were for the most part in the beginning cool. Some even ended up joining out gaming group. Now it's all TCG player who don't know how to bathe.>>Is your LGS community good?It was, now it's all speculative investors. Not a single game is being played at their events and tables are filled with people "cracking packs" and spurging out when they get shiny cardboard.>>What are the cultures and customs of your LGS?It used to be really chill and laid back. We had a great relationship with the owner and his family. I even had a dream at one point of opening my own LGS. We had a lot of different events each night, teaching games for different wargames and TTRPGs. Board game demos and nights that would go well past closing. It was such a great time.I no longer have any interest in opening an LGS if this is the kind of climate I will be running into these days. I think I'll just use the money I had been saving a buy the equivalent of a club house for me and my friends to meet up at and play games at. I don't need it to be a store, especially if I would need to deal with these TCG stock market losers that think cardboard is a worthwhile investment. I'm very bitter from the whole ordeal, but hopeful with how me and my group will be going forward with our hobbies.
>>98517051>>98517663The lgs you seek is “The Forge Games & Hobbies”You can find it on their socials from March 2025. All public info

>>98517862Holy shit this place is FULL of CHUDS
>>98518379lmao the one third from the right is showing signs of pre-trannyism. I wonder if the rest are already angling to get up in that bussy
>>98516044Holy shit he's a silver medalist!
>>98518485>epic showdown>fierce competition
>Is your LGS good?Ehh? Owner can't afford air anymore and no one wants to come in the middle of the day or the morning. >What are some types of players to be encountered and how to deal with them if they're not the good kind of autist? It's usually guys that force their girlfriends to come that cause issues. That or turbo tards that get into arguments with the DM. The worst is dads that bring their kids though, they always want to touch the minis.>Is your LGS community good?Kinda? We sometimes share playspace with furries, especially in the summer. A lot of the players here are also fat, and they tend to sweat after a while. >What are the cultures and customs of your LGS?No food or drink, wear shoes not sandals. Don't touch other people's minis, dice, or books without permission. Keep your hands clean. Do not start arguments with other tables. Nothing sonic related inside the store. Don't beg the owner for stand-ins. If you announce yourself when entering prepared to be jovially booed.
>>98518415More like angle shooting. Am I riiiiiight?
>>98516044>>98518485>OP hereI wasn't expecting to see these posts.Should the LGS be alerted of how purple hair Warhammer 40k player became kind of a meme here so they can help him if things get really bad? Would that even be a good idea since it would alert him and potentially cause stress?I randomly remembered the Star Wars kid. This guy doesn't look like he did anything to deserve the *almost but just a crumb so far* Chris Chan treatment here or what Star Wars kid got.Really what irked me more about the picture of him posted here wasn't him. He looks to be having fun.It is the Warhammer 40k terrain that grinds my gears. People want terrain that isn't unfair in any way and be placed around for fairness. That's fine if genuinely for fairness. Why does the terrain have to be unpainted and tasteless boards? I know GW is addressing this with painted boards, but that just feels wrong. Why can't it be at least painted with techniques to "hide" that it is tournament symmetry board shaped? Is terrain painting really harder than mini painting? I think most terrain details are bigger than actual miniature details so they should be easier to paint.
>>98523408>Is terrain painting really harder than mini painting? I think most terrain details are bigger than actual miniature details so they should be easier to paint.I love terrain painting, terrain crafting and painting being one of my favorite aspects of the hobby, for most people I would say they dont want to paint terrain like they would one of their guys which is why most terrain is base coated, dry brushed and washed
>is your legs good?Ehh the two i frequent are alright. One is tcg exclusive the other is open to all kinda games.>What are some types of players to encountered and how do you deal with them if they are not the good kind of autist?I never socialize at my legs anyway, I deal with trannies and pronounfags by referring to them as "my opponent", i got zero interest when people start talking about things that aren't about the game and just put on headphones. I know I'm not seen that favourable by some since I always bring the latest meta slop or some heavy control and deny strategies.>Is your LGS community good?Good at the games? Some. Most are mediocre.>What are the cultures and customs of your LGS?Both locations got a no food not bought at the lbs inside rule and a hygiene rule. Since the locations are close means the tcg community has big overlap.
>>98516044>>98518379>>98518485>>98523408Looks like he just got his shit pushed in by two 10ft ultra chads at another tournament yesterday at the area’s other but lgs the end games Something tells me he’s mentally ill
>>98523552I’d say his shoes are a big clue
>>98523408>should the LGS be alerted Yes. Please call them >hi, lgs? It’s me anon from four chan. You know that one weird fat gross retard who plays in your store? People are looking at photos of him online that you posted and making reasonable assessments about him from them. Just thought I’d let you know. Just in case.
>>98523552>Something tells me he’s mentally illHe just looks like he enjoys Warhammer 40k at the LGS though so that matters the most. And you're just making unfair assumptions. Plenty of attractive ladies turn out to be absolute psychos to men unlucky enough to have failed to see the early behavioral signs.>>98523584I mean that's kind of what I was planning on doing minus the snide remarks in your post.Just in a hopefully more polite way that isn't interpreted as malicious. Potential legal problems/coming across as an asshole/ruining the guy's day/potentially worse is why I haven't contacted the LGS yet.One of you assholes is probably already contacting. Please don't. It is probably already too far as we don't even know who or what he is like so he could just be an alright guy getting undeserved negative attention.
>>98523777hi, what’s it like to be a 4chan meme? Can you explain what the things on your shoes are?
>>98523777Be sure to mention that he looks like a fat bearded failed to launch adult so that they know specifically which of their regular customers you’re talking about
>>98523552HoLY shit.... MOGGED

My LGS is pushing tabletops out more and more for TCGs. They talked all this shit about Pokemon and suddenly it's an official store. Now it's all Riftbound, Gundam (genuinely scum of the earth people play this), Magic, Lorecana, and now Pokemon. And as soon as the Pokemon guys showed up, the store had its first ever theft. I'm going less and less. I don't need to pay a table fee to have my game bad-mouthed and treated like shit because we don't blow $5000 a week chasing a cum-foil from the latest set of whatever.
One LGS near me is owned by a woman and I immediately thirsted for her, she's actually young and fit and super into card games. Too bad she's married. All the guys there are nice and banter with her, she is basically one of the dudes. I feel bad for lusting for her when it's actually really wholesome.
>>98515335I'm moving to a new town next month, and I'm actually pretty spoiled for choice. There are no less than 5 game stores just in the town I'm moving to, and the next city over has even more and is roughly how far I already was willing to drive.I do have a main one picked out though. Only gone a few times, but they've got a pretty good selection, a great game room, and I've gone to a few of their events. Not with enough regularity to actually know anybody yet, but enough to know that I can play a lot of the games I'm interested in. My only problem so far is that I was interested in these one-shot DnD nights they were advertised as hosting. I was rubbed the wrong way by the DM later posting about how the table was a safe space and how if you didn't respect civility and identities n' shit then you'd get kicked out. It's just like, yeah, no shit. I don't give a shit if you ARE sexist, racist, transphobic, or whatever in your own time, but if you ACT that way at the table, then you're a disruptive asshole that's interrupting the session, and it goes without saying that being a disruptive asshole would get you kicked. Him sucking himself off for what's common sense just burns my ass.But it's DnD, so you expect people to act like this I guess
