I do think gw thinks some changes need to be made to the aos setting for it to be able to catch on since the realms things is clearly too much of a filter, but it really isn't as major of a change as what happened during the whfb -> aos transition. This "new world" for example, still has all the cities, landmasses, and (somehow) the characters of the old one. All the factions are still around, and, as far as we know, same foes for models. (Though I assume gw will do some customary new edition cutting as we go through the tomes)
