Where do you guys find games? I have been trying reddit and various discords (I know) but the majority is DnD 5E or Pathfinder 2E which I’m done with.

>>98531825The last group I had I assembled out of a mix of suptg users and occasionally a trump from outside the community. None of those were problems, but I had to let one go for timeliness issues.

Honestly the best way is to look for dedicated game forums outside of sites like 4chan or reddit. Some basic social networking skills go a long way.
>>98531825I've met a lot of gamers through gaming-adjacent stuff like renfaires. I've been clocked as one by people I've met through other hobbies like orienteering too. So put yourself out there. Many of the more functional gamers are put off by the vibe of game stores but it can really help to volunteer to run the odd game at the LGS. If you vibe one or two of the players you can invite them to a private game later. And at least the freaks are filtered out before they can arrive at your house. People are pretty protective of their free time so I've found it's best to offer to run one shots so people aren't afraid of being trapped in a long campaign they don't like. I really enjoy running Call of Cthulhu for Halloween each year. I wouldn't bother with online games. It's like methadone or breaking a dry spell with condom sex with someone you're not into. It doesn't really count and your subconscious knows it.
>>98531825I use Roll20 LFG and Discord. I like the official D&D discord as it has a LFP or LFG section so either players or dms can find a group. Over the last 13 years of playing with randoms online, there's a lot of hit or miss sometimes. You'll get a good group, then life hits here and there and then scheduling is a mess.I am currently running a game I put together recently through D&D's official discord and it's been going well so far. I've had a few players come and go both before and after we started. That's normal, you keep the good players and keep inviting until you have a full group. It takes me an average of 4 sessions after the first to really see who is committed to playing games and who isn't. If you play a 4-6 session short campaign prior first to get the players filtered in, then you're better off.I don't play IRL much. Less disappointment when they don't show up IRL.
