If you think about it, The Farsight enclave are basically the Tau version of Pre End of Horus Heresy Chaos. They are rebelling against a corrupt empire under a charismatic leader who is vaguely chaos corrupt. Its pretty interesting, though I still prefer base Tau.
>>
I’m surprised at least a gue’vesa kill team hasn’t been made yet by gw. And even then I’ve only seen like one creator make decent human tau stl models.
Maybe guevesa truly aren’t that popular as fan art makes them out to be?
>>
>>98533871
what would they do?
guevesa would almost never be trusted enough to do anything except die on the frontlines and tau have enough infantry chaff units with strike teams, breacher teams, kroot carnivores, and farstalkers
>>
>>98533903
I dunno but I can see GW recycling the stats of phased out kill teams for them so I guess they’ll inherit their roles. Lore wise it is up in the air with what they’ll say. All lore as transformers fans say is “to sell toys.”

I’d vote Krieg veteran guard stats for the hypothetical guevesa kill team.

Tau are boring because they don't anything. Their new chaos god is the first time Tau have been interesting but it will go nowhere just like the Eldar.

I like the Tau cause they fulfill my efficiency fetish. All the 40k factions (with the exception of the Eldar and Tau) are so riddled with inefficiencies and infighting that they never come close to the true height of their potential. The Tau are the only faction remotely close to operating at peak efficiency, and it shows. Even their most basic 'cannon fodder' soldiers are still equipped better than Tempestus Scions, and each Tau planet is outputting roughly the same power projection as 100 Imperium planets combined, and they do all this without even having to make their citizens lives miserable in the process. Plus, I've always had a soft spot for rising powers, and they're basically the only playable faction in 40k that's a rising power that won't destroy the galaxy by winning.
>>
>>98533856
Do you agree with this question, the only interesting thing GW can do with the Tau now is make them fall to Chaos
>>
>>98534571

>>
>>98533871
They are, since they are mentioned a lot in Tau books and were central to the whole "T'au'va" reveal in the Immaterium. The Tau were seeing people building shrines and treating the Greater Good like a sort of Confucian philosophical belief, and through their psychic emanations were able to spawn a goddess in the Warp.
>>
>>98534571
No, that sounds lame to me. Then they're just like everything else. The Dark Taudar Chaos Marines.

What they should do is BEAT their chaos god. Break a power and end its malevolence forever. Shake a pillar of Heaven and prove it actually can be done if you're not fucking animals.
>>
>>98534769
As in popular or is there a guevesa model leak or both?
Also where was this tau god from? Psychic awakening I haven’t read or a black library book?
Either way it will be funny seeing the ones who wanted guevesa before they got models have the sweet nerd cred of wanting them with proofs and able to hold it over the newcomers. Nerd tribalism is a beautiful thing and I am part of the problem.
>>
>>98533903
Imperial vehicles with Tau guns on them would be an obvious thing to have rules for, letting people kitbash them from parts.

Human squads with a mix of lasguns and pulse weapons, perhaps carrying variants that are too 'heavy' for a Tau to haul around but a stronger human can use just fine. These special human teams have a Tau (perhaps in a stealthsuit or other small power armor) leading them to make sure that none of them get any ideas.

Psi-Corp forces that have psyker powers that the Tau are trying to understand and find a use for but do not comprehend at all, which lets them do some neat stuff but also are walking timebombs waiting to go off.

Tau are pretty lame, and do not aesthetically nor thematically mesh well with the whole grimdark gothicness of warhammer 40k. And this is from someone who's first w40k army he collected was the Tau when they were first introduced. GW should just keep the Vespids, Kroots etc. and give them to Space Slann who should just be the star wars Hutts in Slanni format of the Warhammer 40.000 setting: being criminal masterminds employing other species to do their bidding. Or maybe like the Shadow Broker from the mass effect universe: bartering information regarding Chaos or lore from the Old Ones in return for favors from the younger, upstart races.

What caste is the most likely to perform as sex workers?
>>
>>98542274

I can see, holograms and neuronal-stimulants being the low-tier form of sex work where Water Caste porn-stars provide a release valve for most population. Meanwhile actual ones would be more of a mixture of therapy, art, socialization, and performance, besides sex. Something like high-end courtesans. The best fit would be the water caste, although, I think each caste would have their own version to about caste mixing.
>>
>>98542274
I don't think any of them would.
>>
>>98542274

All castes would have to do it to avoid inter-caste mixing, unless it mixes therapy with sex work, which is fairly plausible. A surprising amount of people go to prostitutes not for sex, but for emotional therapy and for the "girlfriend experience" rather than sex.

>how the fuck does a few billion humans create such a powerful minor warp entity within such a comparatively short timespan?
Humans are the last race created by the Old Ones before they disappeared from the Milky Way galaxy and were specifically engineered to eventually birth a vessel for the most powerful soul they ever managed to create/manifest, a.k.a. the Emperor of Mankind.
The entire point of mankind in 40k is to allow the Emperor to wipe the Warp clean into its pre-War in Heaven state, when it was almost completely calm and devoid of "predators," or at least that was the hope of the Old Ones, according to their (last?) prophecy the Necrons still managed to preserve.
This explains why human psykers have the highest ceiling of psychic power, higher than any eldar, even if 99.99999999% of those born with/who achieve that level of power will never be able to control it and will be destroyed/consumed by them. Fundamentally, the only "human" who matters is the Emps, everyone else is simply collateral and a resource for his ultimate fate, if he ever actually manages to get there.
>>
>>98547874
Tau pretty much are the potential faction. Their books too are mostly written by one guy who can't be bothered to actually keep it consistent with codex lore. They don't pose a real threat to the imperium whatsoever. Even the Kroot have more presence in games now.
>>
>>98548143
If the Tau take over the Chalnath Sector, the Ultima Segmentum Fortress at Kar Duniash is there and that is indeed pretty bad for the Imperium. Hydraphur has an army of Custodes guarding it full time, these are very big deal planets. It's why Chalnath is one of the five major warzone this edition.

Arks of Omen: Farsight was not a great read, the ork stuff was mostly tacked on, but the internal struggles of the Farsight enclave Eight, Farsight almost falling to Khorne, the dialogue between him and an Ethereal etc. was interesting.
Part of the problem is scope I think, they're a small enough number that its hard to have it carry weight unless they do a Tau civil war at some point.

They're a side gig and an interesting outline of the early side of a hubris tale. They're flash in a pan mirrored after the rise and expansion of the imperium with the same outlined fate. Farsight just had his Ullanor, the fall will be interesting.

>Siding with the Tau is only feasible if you decide to wear blinders about the scale of the setting.
Siding with the Tau is the only feasible choice if you're aware of the scale of the setting. The Tau are able to pump out Space Marine-tier weapons on a scale that the Imperium never could. They are actively expanding while the Imperium is actively retracting. Every Tau world is producing the same power-projection of over 100 Imperium worlds combined. The Tau winning is the only scenario where humanity survives.
>>
>>98553876
Chaos, Tyranids, & Necrons are the big problems though. Tau could theoretically find a way to deal with orks but they're not immune to chaos. Just lower priority.
>>
>>98553999
>Chaos, Tyranids, & Necrons are the big problems though
Yes, and they are all problems the Imperium will be overwhelmed by. It's not a matter of if, but when.

Now, it's obviously bad if the Imperium all collapses at once because while the Tau as a civilization is much better equipped to deal with these threats, they're still too small to handle all of them. But over time the Tau will continue to grow and absorb the Imperium's planets and then they will become strong enough to handle those threats. That is the best hope for humanity, humanity holds the line long enough for the Tau to take over.
>>
>>98554018
In the long run certainly but an inherent distrust in xenos for the space marines & the still second class citizenship towards humans at best is the biggest hurdle for both sides.

Unironically it might be good for Warhammer 40k discussion here because /40kg/ has ban evading space wolf autist. He's been so persistent that his typing style is recognizable. That still doesn't mean one is safe from janny collateral damage. So it is better and safer from collateral banning to avoid the generals nowadays.
I have pondered all warhammer threads confined to the general but after it became clear of ban evaders making jannies have to work harder I see a different view now.

Anyways the autist you're responding to may be the "post models" autist who would go to 40k threads and ask for models to be posted. I thought he was an AI bot due to his persistence in this schtick and have posted some unpainted models.
But I think this one made him crack:
>start
https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/98502459/#98502992
>end
https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/98502459/#98503815
In the last archive link he admitted to being a dedicated thread policing troll and got slapped by a mod.
This filtering general thing might be his new phrase to look more subtle. But it isn't a good or smart look for obvious reasons.

You sound like youd be a fan of Broly, because his power is maximum and you sound like you just like whatever you perceive as the best/strongest
>>

That just sounds like more retarded Tauwank which they already get plenty of. They should get a civil war of renegade humans using Tau tech against them, that would be more entertaining so you could have human aligned Tau armies and non Tau aligned human armies still using Tau tech. Taufags are allergic to entertaining ideas tho because it threatens their idea that they are the good guys who dindu nuffin wrong ever
>>
>>98554404
It would make more sense for Farsight aligned Tau starting a civil war with both sides having humans.

Rampant contrarianism will be the ultimate death of 4chan in general
>>
>>98554436
Probably, but more factions is fun. It feels like when people talk about Tau they ALWAYS bring up Farsight which gets boring fast. Add some more stuff to the setting rather than having the same guy be involved in everything
>>
>>98554472
Well to be fair, it's not like they've gotten much lore expansion & he's pretty much the only named Tau character who's going against the Ethereals agenda. I would like it see it all more expanded especially with minis for the other species of the empire.

Are there any significant Kroot books out there?
>>
>>98555261
There may be one in the works right now.
Or not if the Kroots didn't sell well.
>>
>>98555695
How can they expect to sell models without cool stories attached to them?
>>
>>98555754
Gw can be very paradoxical in the way they handled things.
My favorite is how they hyped up the ynnari eldar faction and had stories and then left them to rot.

>>98556064
Well that one was over the books flopping. Blame Gav Thorpe.

obviously, since they are the coolest 40k faction

>how the fuck does a few billion humans create such a powerful minor warp entity within such a comparatively short timespan
When humans spike high in the Warp, they spike HIGH. And there's a lot more of them. Humanity is just at the beginning of its awakening, the thing is that awakening happens over thousands to hundreds of thousands of years. The awakening has technically already begun. It began when the Age of Strife happened and psykers burst onto the scene. The past 10k-15k years since then is just the first few seconds of a mile long race.

So, what should T'au Psyker Auxilaries look like?

Totally shrouded, like compilers.

Why would they have an auxilliary when the Ethereal caste is already a potent psyker caste who dominate the minds of the rest of the T'au and quell the warp through indoctrination

One of the auxiliaries that the Tau already has is a species of worms that use mind control. Maybe they could be used to explain the "how do the tau deal with human psykers" question by having worm-human pairings as combat psyker where the human provides the firepower and the worm prevents the human from going nuts by functioning as a living mental straightjacket (or as a killer if the psyker proves too unruly to control.) Maybe leave some ambiguity over whether this is a a mutual partnership or the worm is just piloting the human like a meat puppet.

Maybe instead of focusing on the Tau goddess specifically, they could do something with her worshipers instead. She was created by the faith of auxiliaries, but after witnessing a few miracles attributed to her an increasing amount of Tau start following the religion as well. This is unacceptable to their superiors, so they have to try to hide their beliefs because if they are exposed they will get reeducated if not disappeared outright. There could be cases where entire planets of Tau are converted and it is too many to get rid of without notice, so the Empire has no choice but to publicly condemn them and send forces to bring them to heel forcing a conflict to break out when the converted planet has to defend itself. The idea was based off stuff like Christians having to hide their beliefs in places like North Korean or China and a story I read where some guevesa where fighting for the Tau only to get "saved" and then killed by them because they still believed in machine spirits and such so their beliefs were "poisoning" the philosophy of the Greater Good according to their killers. It could also provide conflict with xenophobic Tau created by the 4th expansion fiasco, xenophile Tau created by a religion that depends on the faith of non-tau to provide life for their new goddess, and the empire trying to maintain order with these two factions within it.

tau have a sniper drone thing doing that role

>It would make more sense for Farsight aligned Tau starting a civil war with both sides having humans.
This is actually a cool concept. Espescially if it starts with Farsight using Gue'vesa and them becoming corrupted, parts of those humans splintering off as insurrectionist cells, a real quagmire for the 5th sphere to tie into their NATO late 20th early 21st century imperialism themes.

Having the beginnings of underground worship of a goddess of the greater good be very similar to the early underground worship of the emperor as a god and the lecto divinicus would be a great
>just as planned
Tzeentchian move. Their faith and psycher powers acting as the saving force against Farsight's corrupted attack so they have to be accepted by the Ethereals but it lets in the corrupting warp influence that is the chaos god's backup plan to when the imperium's cycle of suffering burns out and the need another internally corrupted empire to perpetuate endless suffering and war.

>an another layer of plot armor to justify why
Literally every faction is rolled in a light-year thick layer of plot armor. 40k is literally "nothing ever happens" the setting.
>oh guard lost seven trillion billion millions of men? Well that was just the first wave!
>necrons just regen and well actually there's a tomb buried in the core of the planet connected to another planet and they just churn out dudes
>nids have 40000 galaxies worth of biomass, just two more weeks for them to arrive
>A helmetless space marine shouted "for the emperor" and the whole tide of war turned around in the sector. Also they lost their whole first company thrice in six hours but they are on the road of recovery by the end of the week.
>orks, lolz just whatever, the local rocks were green and the boyz thought they were proper lads and now the rocks fight for the warboss
And so on and so on. Everyone just asspulls out out any win or defeat and the shekel lords of GW keep rubbing their hands.

Be nice to have more proportioned armor for bigger minis though. Like you can't so easily put kroot bits on a fire warrior body without it looking weird.
