I like the idea of randomness and random determination of combat. However I do not find the act of rolling dice to feel satisfying the always feel lame to me like there is nothing that feels tactile good about doing the act.Did I simply get bad dice? Or what?
You have a bad brain.
Use a trouble popper
>>98539444Play games with card mechanics.inb4 OP starts bitching about card drawing creating imperfect randomness instead of embracing it as a feature
>>98539769> creating imperfect randomness instead of embracing it as a featureNot a problem.>Play games with card mechanics. The point is that rolling dice feels to me like using a extremely cheep keyboard with a very bad feel to it.Do others feel the same?
>>98539788No.
>>98539788Just like, get better dice.
>>98539864Recommendations?Do you like use a mat or a dice tower or something?
>>98539444What size dice are you using? I've encountered people who even when there's just one dice to be rolled put another of any type in the mix so it has something to bounce around with and feel better. Might be an issue of quantity.
I've all but stopped buying the Chessex shit mainly because it feels too "light" and small, and like OP it just doesn't feel good to roll anymore. Gotta go with chunkier, more weighty dice. Or play something that uses those crazy Zocchi dice in the funny shapes, because even if they aren't perfectly balanced it brings back some of the novelty of rolling dice.
>>98539875if they feel and cheap, try out different sizes and materials. Big ones, metal ones, stone ones, etc. Compare plastic to resin. Try people's dice in your hands and ask about where they got them.
>>98539444Get giant foam dice.
>>98539788you can look up a random number generator on google with your mechanical keyboarddo you have autism, by the way?
>>98539788Try using metal dice or a wooden rolling box.
>>98539788cheep?cheep?!CHEEP?!!
>>98539769I enjoy the suspense of realising most of the better cards have been drawn and praying we get a Joker to trigger reshuffle before eating a series of failures.>>98542271Tweet tweet motherfucker.
>>98539444If you ever tried rolling multiple d6s in the YZE/Wagraming style and getting 6s doesn't make you feel satisfaction, then it is not yours. Use cards of narrative mechanics, but I am not sure which games use them in combat a lot. Maybe homebrew. It is always the best option.
>>98543163>I lack reading comprehensionYes, you do.OP hates the tactile sense of rolling dice, not the emotional sense.
>>98539444Personally, I don't mind dice with a luck resource (Willpower, Edge, Force Points, Emergency Dice, What-have-you), especially when spending the resource is, narratively, pushing yourself harder. But there is a Marvel roleplaying game out there that ain't half bad using Poker chips. Attacker declares a move, hides how much energy he invests, defender declares how much he invests, reveal. If the attacker wins, the attack connect, otherwise it doesn't. Energy is spent wither way.It might interest you.
>>98544228Just made a similar mistake, jumped to conclusions. How is this a subject worth talking? Dice rollers have been a thing for more than a decade now
>>98539444Dice spinner. Try it out.
>>98542243>different sizes and materialsAny recommendations? >>98540162>What size dice are you using?D6 however I tried others.>size ??? Normal size ?>it has something to bounce around with and feel betterAre you using cups or throwing from your hand?
>>98544479You mean Dreidel?
>>98539788You're in a minority, lion's share of TTRPG players likes tactile experience of dice and the rattle when you roll multiple.
>>98546526>Any recommendations? Not really, I don't know what your autism demands of tactile feel so I can't help you more than just saying "try a bunch of shit and see what works"
>>98546578No. I mean a device which uses a spinning disk to assign a random number, like a roulette wheel. Something like pic related you can get them in a bunch of designs and they are very tactilely different from dice. But you should try using wood, stone, metal, glass or rubber dice too. Cheap resin dice lack the weight and feel that I think you're looking for so try a different material.
