>>98559801>what're your opinions of the EDHRec Top 100?I don't think it's very accurate
>TQ:I'm feeling more and more like once you get past the top ten it stops being representative of how commonly you'll actually see any given commander. I don't see Pantlaza nearly that much.
>>98559801>TQExponential slop dropoff. Top 10 is very slop while by Top 100 you're generally not slop (slop outliers like Magda exist though)
>TQ>what're your opinions of the EDHRec Top 100?People like to hypothetically brew a lot of hypothetically boring stuff.
>TQComplete UB Victory
card just straight up fucking disappeared with dockside banning.
>>98559801I don't believe in data science. In the real world, MtG is flourishing, bursting with players that only brew unique decks/commanders with no UB cards. Anyone trying to say otherwise is lying.
>TQAll I care about is that my wives Azula and Toph are in the Top 20
>>98559866It's honestly funny to see how Dockside disappearing caused multiple cards to completely evaporate from the game yet people were still willing to argue that it wasn't that good.
>tqliterally never went to that shit. hate netdecking
>>98559875azula will be top 10 very soon btw
>>98559896It's gonna be beautiful to see especially since I hate Ms.Bumbleflower
>>98559880Now imagine whatd happen if Rhystic got banned
>>98559880Those bans caused an extinction level even in CEDH. I think we need to ban more fast mana cards.
Finally picked up both commanders for the monogreen control deck I've been threatening to build. Any cards I may not know about that I should consider?>>98559866Adding it to my list.
>>98559905>ifWhen
>>98559884
>>98559915Honestly man at this point I dunno. Everyone's begged for it for so long and they still haven't. I think it'll take a change in leadership.
>>98559857how much do they pay you?
>>98559906There's a reason rituals stopped getting put into Standard and any mana-positive effect generally has some atrocious condition attached rendering it unplayable (e.g. Mox Jasper requiring you to already control a win condition)
>>98559906>yes we need more slop so games drag to a crawl with copy enchantment running around copying rhystics and tithes and everyone just agrees to a drawyou don't actually play cedh
>>98559951This is a problem caused by Rhystic.
>>98559951>TitheYOU don't play cEDH
>>98559909I like her so put her or don't it's your call
>>98559972there's always another birthing pod card i didnt know about.
>>98559928Wotc wishes you paid them, UW shitter
>>98559801I've never played against y'shtola, but looking at the top 10 I've went against Kaalia a few times, Teval a fuckton, and Ms. Bumbleflower the most. I don't know who is playing most of these top 100 commanders because I never see them and I play a lot against a variety of people...
Hello, I am building mable, heir to cragflame. I'm going to put all the valiant creatures in there. Does anyone remember an ancient artifact that used to be pretty common in deck, I think it said at the beginning of your upkeep draw a card and it had tap deal one damage to any Target. I just can't remember the name of it.
>>98559960>he thinks rhystic is played in cedhRoru rumao
>>98559982>my identity is that I start arguments over UB cards being better>I chose this identity out of maximum contrarianism>I also do this every single threadfaaaaaaaaaaag
>>98560047
>>98560081That's not, thanks>6 cmcSOVL
>>98560081Yeah, that's it, thanks.
>>98560057Reminder that you had an autistic fit all because of UB secret lair
Cool
>>98560081>This was not an uncommon sight back in the day. Where did it all go so wrong bros?
>>98560126>This was not an uncommonI mean yeah, it's a rare
>>98560072Meant for >>98560057
>>98559801>what're your opinions of the EDHRec Top 100?I don't think about it at all. I'm an EDH hipster. I've only had 3 decks ever that were in the top 100. My average is 1000+.
>>98560126Every Pre-Edh list I see seems to imply that the ramp packages of the day back then were mostly the same quality it's just there were fewer good draw engines. 6 mana wasn't that hard actually when you could just land a thran dynamo consistently on turn 2 or 3. Creature toughnesses were also smaller and there were more important things you could start beaming. Everything really did just become do-thing, draw card, including the 3-4 mana creatures with growing stats.
>>98560167It's also from a time where every single color didn't have 100,000 card advantage engines. Now literally every single color has plenty of draw, albeit some of it with caveats. Staff of nin isn't even strong enough to be an uncommon now.
>>98560212This was a flaw, not a feature. Blue's power relative to every other color was enormous on a fundamental level, ignoring how as an eternal format with an extremely poor banlist blue was also benefitting disproportionately from many designs that were overtuned or would be pie breaks in the present day.
>>98559801>what're your opinions of the EDHRec Top 100?Meh.I have 14 decks I usually tote to the LGS. I'm scum because 3 of the commanders are in the top 10 (Edgar, Kaalia, Vivi) with one more in the top 20 (Yuriko), but then it takes all the way until #633 for another commander (Grimgrin) then #634 (Torbran), #651 (Avacyn, Angel of Hope), and Ranar the Ever Watchful at #751 are the last commanders I have in the top 1000.
what are the "budget" versions of gamechangers like Rhystic, Smothering, Demonic Tutor? Surely these won't cost more than 20$.
>>98560343Sharpie + basic plains.
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>98560343I think gleaming splendor costs more than some printings of smothering now, which is just hilarious.
is Expropriate fine as a one-off for Bracket 3 games? I'm looking for options for the Rootha that wants big spells and it's currently the biggest bomb I have on the list. Open for suggestions
>>98560418I have never seen Expropriate not win the game.
>>98560255I never really noticed a huge disparity back in the day, but maybe that was probably just because my local scene was ultracasual shitter edh. No one took the format very seriously back then.
>>98560343>budget demonic tutorDiabolic Tutor >budget rhysticChart a Course>Smothering TitheSolemn Simulacrum. he even draws a card :^)
>>98560343insight enginemonologue taxdiabolic tutor
>>98560343>Rhysticlol>SmotheringMonologue Tax, Gay Dragon Agenda>Demonic TutorLike a billion options at 3-4 mana.
>>98560403But /edhg/ told me this card was bad and that Hobbit was going to fail like all UB sets!
>>98560343>Budget rhysticWhy yes, I will pay the 1
>>98560506>But the dead containment thread told me this card was bad and that Hobbit was going to fail like all UB sets!ftfy
>>98560506This general said it was overrated. And it still is. Retards gobbling it up doesn't make it not overrated, infact it supports it.
>>98560506how much is the Gandalf's Bane book cover card version atm?
>>98560524>edh is just do thing draw card>but a card that rewards you for people doing do thing draw card is le bad
>>98560523But they're never wrong! All UB sets fail (except the ones that set blatantly obvious record-breaking sales that no other set even comes close to, which don't count). They said black Aragorn and gay Smaug would cause everyone to boycott the set.
>>98560538>Le bad!Go read a book, troglodyte.
>>98560560>They said black Aragorn and gay Smaug would cause everyone to boycott the set.they only reveal their projection, as UW is unmatched in pure faggotry
>>98560571>no intelligent rebuttalyour resignation is accepted
>>98560560NTA but black Aragon did stop me from running him in like any deck which is a shame since I like the character but I'll never be able to separate him from Viggo
>>98560579>He has once again opened his folder of gay cards, that he is not obsessed with, or obsessed for having to prove how gay everything but he is.
>>98560587You don't understand what is being said to you to begin with, what would be the point in arguing with a chattering monkey?Again, go read a book.
>>98560597garbage collecting is honest work and saves lives
>>98560610>go pick up le bookgo pick up a correct take why don't you lmao
>>98560669As I said, chattering monkey.
>Called Bow, Master Archer>Isn't an Archer
>>98560675>As I said, chattering monkey.
>>98560701Yes, portraying yourself as a low IQ black person in a smug demeanor because he has no reading comprehension is very apt.
>TQEDHrec killed the spirit of the format.
>>98560724>he can't defend his shit take>obfuscates and insists 'le reading comprehension'
>>98560741Most people I know don't even check it or know it exists.
Why did they choose The Gitrog for this?
>>98560751>Mischaracterize the position >"Why won't you defend the thing you didn't say?!"Not dodging the low IQ accusations.
>>98560769still waiting why gleaming splendor is le bad and le overrated in do thing draw card edh btw
>>98560741EDHrec represents a larger inevitability of information becoming more widespread over time. The average player getting better (or more accurately, being given more resources to learn how to build a strong deck) is a byproduct of this. You were never going to have this forever the same way you weren't always going to be able to dunk on MTGO challenges by virtue of just knowing the meta. In many regards MtG is still insulated against this information because the average player is terrible and unwilling to do any learning.
>>98560776Gay furfags inflating the price with fake listings and sales.
>>98560785>black lotus costs more than my car, so it's badyou do know you can just fake wotc cardboard right?
>>98560790>Overhyped card is good because it's expensive!>Presented with irrefutable evidence that the price is inflated by fake sales>"All cards are fake!"Proxyfags, everyone.
>>98560776>Le badAgain with the mischaracterizon. It's overrated because 1 or 2 treasures an entire turn rotation actually isn't that impactful of an ability. >But I can put them ahead to make a treasure by paying 3!Whoa man, so good. It's overrated and not worth the price tag, retards just think it's "bracket 2 smothering!" When it's not.
>>98560762Who gives a shit? It's just some arbitrary reskin to get people to buy blorbo they know from their childhood.
>>98560810you completely miss out that splendor is basically heliod's infinite mana dump + guild artisan (a card that also generates 2 treasures) but w/o the extra hoops of having to attack with your commander and looking at life totals, *in white btw*, and the main driver of the price is its performance in cedh; a card that is playable in lower bracket but very good in cedh is bound to have a high price tag, doubly so if it's a mythic carrying a setso yeah thanks for showing your lack of card evaluation and market evaluation skill
>>98560781>>98560752While I understand that by virtue of the kitchen table audience we will theoretically never actually interact with is actually the driving force of MTG sales, the homogenization of deckbuilding within EDH is a lot worse than other formats by virtue of being eternal. And we saw how that one dude literally just spammed Gran gran decks to throw a number curve, shows that popularity is a false metric that just causes its own eternal issue of measuring becoming an oroborous of ''it gets more popular' like Yshotal did.So someone terminally online who goes to an lgs which makes up who gets interacted with about this shit and deckbuilding in general for EDH, EDHrecreally grinds my gears
>>98560810NTA but dropping it on curve in a multiplayer format and pulling even a single treasure from it is solid. Tithe is more expensive and more powerful, but Splendor as an early drop it puts the brakes on a lot of strategies that crave a full grip and can continue to be useful in a format where people are constantly bitching about everything drawing you cards. It's not the same card as Tithe for sure, but the use case is solid. I expect it to drop in value, but it's mythic, so it's going to take a while for supply to catch up. Its a bit of a soft counter for Esper Sentinel openings and things like that at an economical mana cost.
>>98560878The main difference I notice between EDHrec and IRL (not online) games is that precon commanders/cards have higher IRL representation than on EDHrec, but aside from that it's pretty accurate. EDHrec is pretty much 1:1 with MTGO, XMage, Cockatrice, Spelltable, and TTS.
>>98560876>Whoa, this card is great when its paired with X, Y, and ZThe Millennium Calendar is great when paired with All Will Be One, but shit otherwise. Not a great argument there. but because it works with some things doesn't mean its great overall. >But CEDH though!99% of the playerbase doesn't play CEDH. Also not a worthwhile argument. I've been my reasons and your response was "CEDH AND MY DECK THOUGH" which are worthless. You have no disproved its overrated. You're just a chattering retard jumping on what tiktok is telling him and it shows.
>>98560810>It's overrated because 1 or 2 treasures an entire turn rotation actually isn't that impactful of an ability. It's the exact same as rhystic. The worse case scenario for the card is a scenario where your opponents are doing the thing that wins games. If rhystic draws you no cards you played an asymmetric sphere of resistence, which would be a really strong card in its own right. If Splendor gives me no mana, I played an asymmetric Spirit that's also a mana sink/wincon.
>>98560105reminder that there are more than you and one other person on this board, schizoid
>>98560785I googled it to see what popped up on the first page and holy shit, 80 dollars as the first printing that anyone sees.Put whatever you want on it though.
>>98560785>>98561090Are you guys trying to suggest Gay Bolas is directly responsible for this?
>>98560920>lol X card isn't good without Y>but wait didn't i just say edh is do thing draw card (Y)?>so X card is good because there's always Y, which is do thing draw card>so doesn't that mean i'm a retard?yes, yes you are>cedh doesn't count!roru rumao you're the only fag itt that thinks splendor is shit i can definitely count that haha
>>98561040you can only wish there was a soul out there who thought like you
>>98561124>U dumb lolYeah, your opinion means nothing when you don't have the intelligence to convey it.>Ur the only one!The reply chain proves otherwise. Cope at the end of a rope, you clear genetic dead end troon.
>>98561182>The reply chain proves otherwise.what reply chain? the ones you don't even bother to reply to?hahaha run away now or else i'll laugh at you when splendor becomes a bona fide b2 staple in 2 months and people clamor for a reprint or 'an obvious powerhouse'
>>98561113Yes furfag, just because you flood the market with fake listings doesn't mean people are actually paying $80 for your furfag card.
>>98560517kek
>>98561312not a joke though. that was the colorless card draw back in the day
>>98561367Insight engine is a better budget card, though you need blue for it
>>98560762>a fucking cat>frogThis is Monster Hunter SL level retardation.
I am struggling with my desire to open sealed product. I found out a store near me still has a couple of those foily alara boosters and despite knowing better I very badly want to buy them and open them.
>>98561375The he-man cats scream saddle but there are only so many of them that are good + fit panthor
>>98561373well yes nowadays every color has better draw than Mind's Eye so I don't think anyone should run it over that 2025 card you just mentionedbut in all seriousness yeah Insight Engine is pretty alright for a dollar, especially if your game plan involves stalling or manipulating counters. it's a great suggestion for a budget rhystic in a lot of decks, and definitely a better analogy than my answer which was Chart a Course lol
Post Chad commanders.
>>98561643Hell yeah.Love slamming down an angels trumpet when playing Darien.
>>98561656I also like using this with him. It wins me so many games.
>>98561656List? Been wanting to make a mono white deck
>>98561656I spent like 5 fucking years trying to convince my friend to add that trumpet to his Lavinia deck and he finally did it and it was awesome

Building a bracket 3 dragonstorm deck with Smaug, Wicked Worm. Should I make dragonstorm lead to an infinite or no?
https://archidekt.com/decks/25375090/chrono_shenanigansthe only time this deck has lost, is against 3 players countering/removing every card I play, and I still almost won because I got to 5 lands and a boseiju. apparently it's the most oppressing thing anyone at my lgs has seen outside of bracket 5
>>98561803>5mana>no white so it doesn't have the majority of flicker spells>better commanders out there for spamming suspend/speeding up the removal of countersVery surprising it did so well, honestly
Can you still have an opponent blight an opponent that doesn't have any creatures? Is this the infinite I think it is with something like nest of scarabs?
>>98561750>Arid Mesa in mono-whiteFor what purpose??
>>98561890Deck thining.
>>98561777the witches in the trees outside your house are listening.
>>98561975I thought I got rid of them
>>98561982I thought this was a pair of tits
>>98561986Go jack off.
>>98561794You kinda don't need to. Lathliss -> Scourge -> Twinflame -> Any will deal enough damage that you don't need an infinite.
>>98561988Stop posting things that look like tits from a pedo cartoon and I won't need to
>>98562008No.
Most likely not an original idea whatsoever, but how viable, and most importantly: funny, would a Bumbleflower deck, where she gives out cupcakes laced with razor blades, be??
>>98561890Because I have an extra one, and it barely thins the deck, it shuffles the deck, and it gives me a soldier with the commander out. But it's mainly for the shuffle effect. Every deck needs at least one of those in case something important gets tucked.
>>98562086I don't understand what that is supposed to mean unless you're just doing owling mine type shit.
>>98562106The usual group hug turns into a sadistic torture session where the players wish for me to stop "helping" them.
>>98562119So...Nekusar type shit
>>98562125Aye.Also I wonder to how many other ways of helping I can extend the dickery too in bant colors.
What are some effective commanders for using Field of the Dead as the main strat? I'm guessing something with green in it for the land tutors and "play additional lands" type stuff?
>>98562133necrobloom is literally field of dead as a commander FACT
