I know how the writers feel, they want to feel well read and versed, but they should be reading Vampire the Masquerade 2nd edition quick start, Actual Plays, and so on. What mechanic are you referring to specifically? I have never played a VtM game (I despise modern urboid settings in general, especially for vampires)
