I get what they were going for with the little flyers but man it did not work very well at all.
>>
>>98561823
the fact that 3 primaris units are getting sent to legends makes it worse to buy Primaris.

It took them 20+ years to get rid of Normal marines and yet we're already getting rid of ~5-6 year old models.

>>

Space marine players are thepaypiggies that keep their company going, they cant keep buying new stuff now that even the primaris range is getting bloated. Its the dark side of the coin for getting all those new models all the time...

Primaris are great, your taste is just dog-shit, but that is a given on this dog-shit incel board
>>
>>98562782
True... the whole grav-meme still doesnt really vibe with the imperiums lore and aesthetic. In fact the whole primaris stick clashes with it. We're supposed to be in some galaxtic dark age where no innovation is possible so lets just crank out an entire army of *NEWMARINES* with flashy tech and tau/eldar-tier antigrav tanks.

Should have just made the marines bigger and given them new helmets without the entire lore override. Just call em the mark IX helmets or something. Should have just made the predator bigger and called it the "predator ultra" or something stupid like that. It would at least fit the setting.

This. Apart from being ugly in their own right, they are thematically inconsistent.

I love how "Primaris Chads" are actually hugely telling on themselves with their crowing.

Because not only are "firstborn" units getting squatted, but PRIMARIS ERA units like the Suppressors and the flying bunker thing, which lasted all of ten minutes.

They are actually admitting they are churn piggies who live to honk and squeal for the next GW Twitch reveal stream. Nothing about the setting or the armies actually matters to them more than [next product].

Imagine any other wargamer talking like this, a Stargrave or Warmaster or Malifaux or Man o' War or whatever player.

The stiff rigid teddy-bear posing is the most egregious part of them to me
It stands out particularly hard when usually modern sculpts now all have some clear effort put in to posing them 'dynamically' or at least having them standing in a cool way
>>
>>98561823
I don't mind it. I've been out of the GW loop for so long that modern GW anything only parses as creepy skinwalkers badly posing as the original games, so it doesn't even touch my 90s nostalgia. Their newest mini I actually wanted was the Khornate marine based on an old illustration, so of course they gated it behind a subscription. I kinda admire their dedication to not getting my money.
>>
>>98562782
Grav-tanks are a fine concept by itself (nobody complains about Eldar and Tau having them), but the problem is that
A) They don't fit with the established lore and aesthetics of the Imperium
B) Even if the designs were tracked, they'd still look hideous due to having random weapons sticking from weird places like they're suffering from some kind of tank-cancer.
>>
>>98563010
This is the best argument against primaris, I don't personally mind their looks that much, but lorewise it's a complete clusterfuck
>>
A big RIP for my niggas the burnas and the lootas
>>
>>98562652
I still say all Marine vehicles should be operated singlehandedly by plugging into the Black Carapace neural interface.
>>
Damn, the Interceptors were pretty much the only new Primaris specialization I actually liked. It feels like an extension of the idea of power armor as a miniaturized tank. Once you can give them reliable VTOL capabilities you can make miniaturized helicopter gunships, too.
>>
>>98562791
Sigmarines are a bit of an exception though, they tried a different aesthetic for them every edition until they finally landed on something they liked in 3rd (hence 4th edition continuing with those designs by remaking a bunch of 1st edition stuff with the new aesthetics).

Rhinos are in far too many other armies to go entirely extinct. In Marines? Sure they've been trying to do that forever (implusor apparently wasn't "it"), but they're still in Sisters and Chaos and GK and IA. There's more rhinos in the wild than honda civics or actual rhinos.

Presumably mono weapon Gravis kits dripfed over the next couple editions. Right now melta and heavy bolter are covered, plasma has a tac squad. Ideally we get a grav weapon squad soon since those are in danger of going extinct on the table currently.

>>
>>98567458
Space marine squads are all eldar aspect warriors now, and the codex rules change weekly. Why sell players one devastator squad when you can sell them one primaris missile squad, one primaris melta squad, one primaris heavy bolter squad, (etc) and then fudge their numbers on the app so that a different squad is meta each month?

They're all hyper specialized, no weapon option primaris squads to replace the broader original firstborn units. No rules = no models has been taken to the capitalist extreme.

>>
>>98565855
Kind of? They were mostly just VERY weird as a kit and that combined with their rules affected their popularity.
>>
>>98564267
OK, I figured out how to fix Primaris heavy weapon guys. Just make all their weapons handheld versions of the ones mounted on tanks. Battle Cannons, Lascannons, Whirlwind Rockets, Vindicator mortars, etc. By the same token, get rid of all non-transport Marine vehicles, except maybe artillery and missile carriers for long range support. The idea being the Primaris Marines ARE the tanks. Doctrinally they should be considered not infantry but light armor/super high mobility self-propelled gun platforms.

>the whole grav-meme still doesnt really vibe with the imperiums lore and aesthetic
I remember walking into a Hobby Town with my dad back in the early 2000s and seeing all the usual models and miniatures. Plenty of 20th century military stuff, trains, landscapes, and so on. The back quarter of the store was dedicated to 40k. They had a tall plastic case showcasing different painted models - most were imperial guard stuff - and beside it was a stand with a bunch of rulebooks. I didn't know what the hell 40k was so it looked like a weird mishmash of ww2 armies fighting robots and aliens. It looked cool.
My dad let pick something out and I chose a box of tyranid warriors. Never assembled or painted models before, so I completely fucked it up and tried to glue a giant pair of scything talons to a warrior because to my young brain it just looked awesome despite being way too damn big. I think it was an extra bit you could use to build a carnifex or hive tyrant. Painted it all black and had an ugly xenomorph that couldn't even stand up on its base. I probably butchered thirty dollars between the models and paint.
Growing up, that impression of ww2 soldiers in space held firm up until I completely forgot about 40k in 2012. Yeah, it's nostalgia, but the advanced technology typically reserved for aliens looks so damn out of place for the imperium. I just don't like it. I don't understand why gw is insistent on changing things so drastically when they can make superficial changes and still get people paying hand over fist for overpriced plastic.
>>
>>98561823
Those gunships, especially the bottom left, belong in Gundam.
>>
>>98567131
Phobos are supposed to be redundant trash to make money, and that is what they are. They don't belong in the game like most of the marine bloat.

>fudge their numbers on the app
You need an app for the rules? But they still sell books. Or do you have to constantly print errattas? They really want this to be a liveservice and you have to pay a monthly fee to use your minis on the table.
>>
>>98568911
I guess the problem is that GW became too big with too many running costs. Than you have managers, CEOs and investors who essential do nothing but get a big piece of the profit.
Most players have already full armies, less new player because it is expensive to enter the hobby and videogames have a lower entree point. So selling them new Space Marines isnt working anymore. What do you do? Create new units noone already has and cant be simulated by tokens.

No.

>>98567096
There are plenty of attacks in 40K that only hurt biological matter and leave the tank alone. If some psyker fries the brains of the driver, being able to replace him quickly would be an useful feature. Not to mention that several marine vehicles (including the one in the picture that opened this conversation) have open tops, so you can snipe the driver without damaging the vehicle (which would be a tactic many intelligent species would try to utilize to neutralize the vehicle).

>>
>>98565855
They look weird as fuck but unlike every other goofy-looking primaris thing their look makes sense in-universe:
>they use the fantastical technology in a way that would make sense. There's no reason anti-grav should be just virtual vehicle tracks that don't touch the ground. treating cars like horseless carriages
>devastator squads never made as much sense tactically because it doesn't make sense for marines having long-range weapons without the same or more mobility than the standard tactical marines. I like the way primaris units use heavy weapons with a seeming focus on closer range in comparison

They should sitll have never been made because they're so goofy and against the aesthetic of marines, and if the technology actually worked it should be a key part of their doctrine to place firepower where it's needed.
I'm less angry about these than I am at the nacho-flaps and ankle-bulbs that every jump pack marine has now.

The Firestrike is just plain bizarre and doesn't fit with how Space Marines are depicted as operating at all. Why they didn't release a plastic Tarantula (either original or growth hormone flavoured) instead is beyond me.

Also it's ironic that the Firestrike is hanging around while the Hammerfall Bunker that actually does fit the Space Marine MO perfectly is getting deleted because it doesn't work well with the ultra-dense terrain layouts used in the modern game.
