Like having a timer irl or solving a physical puzzle
Or in order to determine the outcome of a contested check you have to wrestle someone irl

>Or in order to determine the outcome of a contested check you have to wrestle someone irl
I am 6'3 in real life and have wide shoulders. I could play a low strength wizard and still wrestle a fighter into submission. How does that make sense as roleplay?

No one asked you
>>
>>98562464s
You made a suggestion and I gave an example of how your suggestion would be applied irl.
>>
>>98562427
They do.
Your ability to persuade the GM of your bullshit can easily make the difference between failure and success. A good description of your action and methodology can make possible what your GM would otherwise shut down.

This wouldn’t be good for “game balance” but it could still be fun. People still have fun playing basketball and badminton with their friends which are very reliant on physical skill. TTRPGs are made to rely on intelligence and sometimes charisma and persuasiveness, though, and people sometimes go for TTRPGs for the explicit reason of doings things which they cannot do in real life, so this might not be popular among the typical TTRPG crowd.

One thing you could do is hand your players a rubber knife when they want to make an attack roll and challenge them to get your belly or throat in a time limit while you try to block. In a game with magic or psychic powers you could also get zener cards and determine success by how many they get correct.
>>98562455
That’s the problem with this idea. You’d have to be restricted to fighter-type characters, play a game with other wrestlers, or frequently change the type of competition and use ones which do not match the in-game activity.
>>
>>98562511
No, not really. I'm very sorry your game doesn't have rules to cover extremely basic and common actions. I hope things get better for you.
>>
>>98562698
Or you could simply not use this idea, since it's plainly retarded, and play a game with rules instead.
>>
>>98562427
All dexterity based checks require throwing the dice up into the air. Whoever catches them gets gets to try and place the dice face up to their desired result but only has 3 seconds to do so while other players throw dice at them.

IT WAS A MISTAKE TO CUM HERE!

The fact that table talk requires the player to be good at speaking.

Thread hijack
In ttrpgs you can play as someone who is stronger, faster, prettier and more magical than you.
You can't play as someone that is more charismatic or intelligent than you. Sorry. The medium does not allow this.
>B-but I don't have to be charismatic in oder to know how would a charismatic character act or what they would do in a specific situation.
Lol no. If you had any idea how charismatic people act and what they do you would be charismatic. And you aren't. Same goes for intelligence.
>>
>>98563242
Thankfully my intelligence is in the 99.9th centile and I am a naturally charismatic people person, so I can play any character I damn well please.
>>
>>98563242
Actually you can, since the game has rules that allow you to. Moron.

>Timer IRL
If you don't have some kind of time track, that's on you.
I got a line with black dots and a few red dots on it that the players can see at the start of the adventure. It's the timer, every segment of time (be it days, hours, minutes, weeks) advances, they move down that line. When a red dot gets hit? Something has changed, usually the threat has advanced toward accomplishing their goal. If the group fucks up bad enough? That marker tracking time can jump to the next red dot instead of ticking to the next black dot where the group caused the opposing side to advance to their next step faster in response to the group's actions.

Every red dot is something bad that will inevitably make the final encounter harder or getting to that encounter harder.

It's simple. It's right there so the players are aware of it. It stops side tracking without you having to railroad shit. You absolutely can ignore the time track, but shit is advancing to a fail state. Never make the fail state a game ending one though.

god damn you sound like a huge fag
>>
One time my character was traversing an obstacle course and at one section my DM told me to count 30 seconds IRL, and my character took however many seconds I was off as damage.
>>
That's called LARP. There's games that do that.

>How does that make sense as roleplay?
It forces fat, stinky basement dwellers to lift and train martial arts to "optimize" their characters.
>>
>>98568920
Not impossible, and games exist that allow it, so you're wrong.
>>
>>98568920
Bitch.
>>
>>98562455
It gives you a bonus. You have 1 minute to wrestle the DM into submission. Every 6 seconds you save gives you a +1 on your roll.

I don't care, as long as the GM follows the rules of the game. If the game rules says I can make a Charisma check to influence someone's behavior, or a Strength check to wrestle an NPC, then the GM better damn well let me with no further hassle. If the game rules has no rules for Strength and Charisma, and I have to fight and convince the GM IRL, then that's what I'm going to do without complaint. If I invest into a stat, and the game says I can use that stat to do the thing, and the GM says no I can't because I'm different from my character IRL, then what was the fucking point in making my character?

>>98571927
No.

Consider this: You wouldn't be able to out-wrestle jabba the hutt.

I incorporate these elements in my games. I think the players like it. they at least seem engaged when i do it.
I dont' do it every session. that would wear out the novelty, and I can't think of that many toys for them to interact with

Thanks for sharing

you don't even have friends to play with. who are you to criticize me? (rhetorical question)
>>
>>98562427
Good idea
>>
>>98562455
people will say this and then demand that some stuttering loser must act like they have 20 charisma irl instead of just letting them roll
