Anybody play it? Do you like it? Can anyone explain the encumbrance rules when using containers or mounts?

>Can anyone explain the encumbrance rules
It's the same in every game. You ignore the encumbrance rules and let the GM be in charge of saying stop if someone is trying to carry some amount that's clearly ridiculous.
>>
>>98580749
yeah, I'm not going to count all your arrows or healing potions unless you're making it too obvious you're carrying an entire sporting good store and pharmacy respectively.
>>
>>98580598
It's a lame attempt to jump on 5e playerbase's money. Initiative is tiresome to use and add nothing to the gameplay loop, everything else is just "d20 + modifier". It's so uninspired, both mechanically and fluff-wise, it's just insulting.

Just play a different game at that point. Why claim to play something whose challenges you aren't interested in?
>>
Last thread I was talking about fun ways to become powerful/arguably break the game, but I think ive settled on the best way. Make a ring, bracelet, earring etc. whatever physical design you wish. Enchant it with

>Dimensional Slip 1 or 3
>Protector 3
>Charge 3
>Magic Seal 3
>Permanence 3
>Nexus 3

This should cost a WHOOPING 10-12 WP to create. Put in the trigger conditions that whenever you or the item are targeted by hostile magic ot if you say a command word it prompts Protector 3. This will make you immune to most magic. Make is so whenever you are attacked physically or say a command word it triggers Dimensional Slip 3. This will make you immune to all physical attacks.

Then you just need Permanent Elemental Path at power level 1 & now you are immune to fire, magma, cold, suffication/drowning, etc. and can walk on air, walk through stone & water. This costs 1 Permanent WP

All of these spells are available in the three adventure paths Secrets of the Dragon Emperor, Path of Glory, & Arkand.

You can pick up all the general spells except Nexus from the nature mage in Path of Glory who is written to be a helpful NPC & open to teaching the party.
Demonology enough for Dimensional Slip is available from the demon worshiping town in the Eastern Lands, either ask the demon worshiping dwarf for a study session or just kill him & take his book. The only other level 5 spells you need that are not available in Path of Glory is Nexus & Elemental Path which can be learned at the Academy in Arkand (or try to get them a bit earlier from your GM/treasure)

All told these spells will take a total of 11-13 WP (most of a mages WP) & give you a reserve of infinitly refilling 30WP to fuel your spells as well as making you immune to direct damage & magical/environmental effects. You can walk through walls & glide through the earth as well as swim & fly infinitely to avoid traps. The only thing that can bind or bar you is metal. & you can always give it the Dimentional Slip.
>>
>>98582491
This also only requires knowing 7 General Spells that a LOT of tutors already have access to, 3 Demonology Spells that arent exceedingly difficult to aquire, & 5 Elemental spells. Only Nexus & Elemental Path will be difficult to obtain. If you dont care about flying, swimming, & walking through walls/the ground, you could go for the much easier to obtain Undead Resilience to become immune to Cold & drowning/suffocating.

Other spells I recommend to learn or to bind permanently are of course most of the physical enhancing Mentalism spells & particularly the spells Cure 3 & Nourish/Reinvigorate 3 from Animism to make you immune to all poisons & diseases, & to get food from even barren soil. Tying these into your enchanted ring or whatever object you chose with the trigger to cure you constantly or on contact with poison/disease & feeding from the soil when you sleep.

After that Witchcraft Spell; Bestial Traits 2 to gain Claws & Nightvision, your choice if you want to grab something else from the list like fur or gills too is nice so you won't need torches in the dark

The only thing you cant become immune to is sleep, which sucks.

Its explicitly NOT d20+modifier. Did you even read the book?

>>98580934
You specifically dont have to count your arrows, you just buy a Quiver and call it a day

>>
>>98582611
Its a roll under, d20 system.
>>
>>98582227
It's called Dragonbane, not Encumbrance Lords. If you want to play an inventory management simulator I'm sure there are better options. Most players don't seek out a fantasy rpg to explore the incredible immersion of exactly how heavy their backpack is. So the better advise to both players and gms is to don't give a fuck about the encumbrance rules.
I've played Drakar och Demoner, but not this which I assumed is a remake. So I didn't want to comment about rules that might be different. But ignoring encumbrance is a great tradition no matter the game, and I thoroughly recommend trying it if you've never done so.

Are the pdfs not in the archives or am I just retarded

There are in with the Free League stuff like Symbaroum and Mork Borg, The One Ring, etc

Thanks

You clearly have no clue what you're talking about.
How did you survive the abortion?
>>
>>98582491
Interesting ring.

What are its defenses against pickpockets trying to slip it off of you?
>>
>>98585742
Same as any other ring. Personally I would recommend a bracelet thats not designed to come off. Get Elemental Path to be immune to fire, & then weld the bracelet closed while its on your wrist too tight to come off, but not enough restrict movement. Or make it a fake tooth. Or any number of designs that wont get pickpocketed easily. Also consider other objects like body/face piercings, an ear ring, or tongue piercing, nipple piercing, eyebrow piercing, bellybutton piercing, genital piercing etc. If you have Stone Skin it shouldnt rip out easily either. You could even ask your GM if you could count a tattoo as an enchantable object or somekind of embedded gemstone. Maybe make it as a small talisman, cut open your chest & fuse it to your breastbone or as a skull plate on your head. If your GM wont allow something like that, then you could always wear a glove over it.

If youre gonna invest most of your soul into a powerful item, you gotta be smarter than Sauron & just wear it on your finger.

>Not counting healing potions
What
>>
>>98582549
Don't ask a question when you don't want an answer
>>
>>98582491
>a single level 1 spell for just one whatever point makes you completely immune to heat, cold, suffocation, makes you fly at will, and makes you pass through solid matter at will, forever
kek and people who play these literally who special snowflake systems wonder why they're less popular than d&d. they never stop to think that maybe they're simply even shittier
>>
>>98586223
No, its a rank 5 spell (like an 8th or 9th spell in Dicks&Dweebs) being persisted using another rank 5 spell, & costing a permanent reduction in WP. Not really all that different than breaking the game with Persist Metamagic in 3.5
>>
>>98584475
I don't make my games with encumberance, but if I did, I would play the game according to those rules because the rest of the game would take that into account.
>>
>>98586087
Encumbrance works like this
Each character can hold a number of "Weight" equal to half their strength score so the average guy can carry 5 weight with no penalty, while the strongest man can carry 9. A backpack adds 2 more.
A character can carry three weapons on hand without it costing weight.
A Healing Potion is 1 Weight. So is a lot of gear. So an average guy wont be strapped with Healing Potions.

For me, the biggest confusion is containers. A bottle is one weight & holds 1 weight of liquid. Does that mean it has 2 weight? (Bootle 1 + Liquid 1?) Or does the 1 liquid weight count as the bottles weight? What about the Chest which has 3 Weight but holds up to 20? Or a basket that has 1 weight but holds 10? Does this mean that I can carry a basket full of 10 Weight of gear for just one actual weight against my character?
>>
It's a worse version of Forbidden Lands, with a far weaker vision.
>>
>>98587988
My point isn't that no game can ever have worthwhile encumbrance rules, just that rpgs in general don't. If you make a mountaineering game or something, where you'd actually care about weight and bulk optimization, I'm sure it'd be fine. But look at this fucking shit.
>>98588061
Worlds strongest man is struggling to carry a backpack with 12 empty bottles. Jesus Christ I'm so immersed.
>>
>>98588602
And you never gave an actual answer to my question about why you'd want to claim to play a game you don't actually want to play. I hate Old Maid, and I would never claim to play Old Maid extensively while playing Cribbage instead.
>>
>>98588664
I never claimed to play it. I said I've played the predecessor. OPs most specific question was how the encumbrance rules work, and the answer that maximizes fun for everyone involved is to pretend those pages do not exist.
I was answering in good faith to your post about how the game you haven't designed would totally have good encumbrance rules even though you've never written encumbrance rules. No need to fight a straw man.
>>
Why has a question about the game become a rant about the concept of encumbrance?
>>
>>98590258
It was part of my original post so its not out of pocket. The encumbrance/contain rules are not exactly spelled out, so it causes discussion. The one anons stance of "just ignore it" is fine, but can lead to some bickering
