It's more of a Rakhasa type of deal, with the IS reverse-engineering a mech that roughly matched the loadout of the Clan original, only this time they actually made it an omnimech. It's considerably larger (heavy instead of a medium) and blockier than the Clan original.
That is an inappropriate amount of lasers for a Bane.

The Marians having recently been emboldened by numerous successful raids on their neighbors have sent a crack maniple to test the defenses of the Magistracy of Canopus in preparation for a full scale raid. This vanguard force has been given full looting rights and is not expecting stiff resistance. Unknown to the Marians however they are about to face off against Canopian veterans from Operation Bulldog using Clan formations and equipment. Will the Marians prevail against this advanced force or will they be sent home packing? Lets find out shall we? Canopians also choose a tight deployment but interestingly did not deploy their BA with their mechs instead preferring to march on foot. Kat "Constantine" White and Lipscomb both took the opportunity to pick up trees for future use as clubs.Round 2The Marians crest the hill and suddenly encounter several unknown contacts. They have to double check their sensor logs as they are identified as Clan mechs. Rather than waste time speculating how they were here they quickly form a firing line and try to engage what they can. Only Gaius O'Mallicus manages to score a PPC hit on the Ryoken having received a pulse laser blast from the Viper for his troubles. The Canopian BA strategy seems to becoming more clear as they appear to be trying to use low level terrain and forests as cover to advance on the enemy undetected.Round 3Marians break formation with an argument breaking out whether to seek cover or charge the enemy. The Ryoken is the focus target of the Marians as good old Solonius manages to score a laser hit but overall most of the Marian weapons fire is inaccurate. Marc McDonald and Kat both try to support Solonius but take weapons fire for their troubles. Chaddus seeing his comrades in trouble unloads with what he has trying to draw attention to him but none of his shots land and the Canopians take no notice of him.

>>98593126Round 4 The Marian situation is starting to fall apart. They are screaming for help from their other Century but only the Hunchbacks are coming. O'Mallicus, Cosades, Ren and Posca have all taken up reserve positions in the rear. Worse is they are now actively being jammed by ECM. Solonius is struggling to land hits on the Shadow Cat despite it being right in front of him and has encountered a wall of battle armor that has setup a firing line yet thankfully are missing with their missile launchers. Kat is getting focused down by three omnimechs and her Hunchback is being torn to shreds, her armor is virtually gone and she took a head hit barely able to keep her mech upright and herself conscious.In the Canopian side they are currently enjoying this fight. Cat Hag is already licking her lips as an autocannon shot blew the arm clean off the Marian Hunchback she had in her sights and is readying for a final blow. Midnight Miley is taking full advantage of the speed of her Shadow Cat to avoid fire and bombard her enemies up close. "Bengal" is satisfied with the accuracy of her weapons as she strips armor off her enemy and decides to go in for a kick sending the Hunchback that was struggling so hard to remain upright finally to the ground.
>>98593137Round 5 It is off to a good start for the Canopians as Cat Hag closing in for the kill. She unloads which complete cripples the downed Hunchback. It is left to Miley to go in and finish off the mech meaning that first blood is to the Canopians. They are now however very far forward and exposed to enemy fire.The Marians however do respond. Not taking this insult lying down Calidus Canis charges in firing his lasers at the Ryoken scoring several hits. In what can only be described as either stunningly brave or stunningly foolish, Marc McDonald jumps behind the Ryoken and unloads with his rockets into the Ryoken which is successful in causing it to fall down. He almost has a triumphant yell before suddenly his alarms go off as a stream of laser and missile fire collide into the side of his mech blasting its leg off and knocking him to the ground. In the confusion at least Kat is able to escape from her downed mech and run from the battlefield.Round 6 McDonald is in trouble as he sees a horde of large armored infantry rushing towards his mech firing as they go. From his cockpit he then sees something emerge from a treeline that he can only describe as quite possibly the meanest mech he has ever seen. The Masakari opens fire with a gauss rifle that succeeds in blowing his Brigand up and throwing him outside his mech. Briefly dazed but remembering about the large group of battle armor that was charging towards him he quickly gets to his senses and decides to run away as fast as he can.Cat Hag meanwhile is hissing from her cockpit. The Marians had reformed and were focusing her mech down and there was nothing she could do to stop it. The Victor in particular she was cursing as it had blown off her mechs right arm and her valuable lasers as well as providing a means of trying to get her mech upright, an attempt she makes and fails.
>>98593144Round 7Cat Hag is angry as she manages to get her mech upright and charges towards the enemy. The target of her rage is the remaining 4P Hunchback piloted by Calidus Canis. She runs at him firing with everything she has left and surprisingly does manage to score several crippling blows that eventually results in the said Hunchback being knocked down but not before her mech is virtually destroyed in the process. Solonius, Lipscomb and Chaddus all do their best to support Canis and do tear chunks out of her mech eventually causing it to fall over and have its gyro destroyed after a gauss hit from Chaddus succeeds in crippling it. Cat Hag is left unconscious as her mech falls to the ground.The Marians try to close in for a kill but they are intercepted by Devereaux and Miley who swoop in to act as blockers while Kitten supported by Chester advance forward to take steady shots at the Marians. Chaddus does manage to at least kick the troublesome Miley who has been toying with him all battle although fails to trip her up. Meanwhile of the four stooges in the back of the Marian lines only Posca wakes up to fire a PPC shot in support of his comrades in the front that inevitably misses.
>>98593154Round 8The Marians are about to finish off the downed Ryoken when they notice two new contacts, a Puma and Masakari. They quickly try to reform but the Shadow Cat and Viper make it very difficult for them. Worse two squads of battle armor come into view, the ones lead by Clarissa and Esidisi, giving the Marians multiple targets to worry about. Chaddus and Solonius agree to focus the Puma but the stubborn light mech absorbs the damage to their horror. Worse is the return volley from the Puma cripples the leg of the Phoenix Hawk causing Solonius to fall down. Devereaux meanwhile manages to isolate Lipscomb Hunchback and mockingly challenges him to single combat. He agrees as he has his AC/20 lined up on her only to miss the shot and the Viper to unload enough firepower that sweeps him off his feet causing him to bang his head in his cockpit and get knocked unconscious. The Four Stooges decide that the brightest idea is to get into a long range gunnery duel with a Masakari as Kat runs past them on foot calling them all a bunch of bastards.Round 9Both sides take time to reform with most of the focus being on finishing off mechs that have already been crippled. The Marians focus fire on the Ryoken as they don't want to risk it getting back up. Although Solonius technically is the one to destroy it the credit goes to Chaddus since he was the one who scored the crucial gyro hit that eliminated it as a threat. The unconscious Cat Hag is able to be dragged to safety by nearby Elementals before it is fully destroyed. The Marians are overall the worst off in this exchange as Canis's Hunchback is destroyed by a volley from the Masakari. Canis manages to escape the wreckage and proceeds to leg it as fast as he can.

Chaddus orders Solonius to withdraw due to the fire he has been taking and he obliges, only to fall on landing due to leg damage he sustained previously. Chaddus tries to draw the fire away from Lipscomb but the Canopians are having none of it. They all focus fire hard on the remaining Hunchback. Despite the beating it receives surprisingly it remains upright even with Devereaux rushing at him to taunt him with a kick. The Four Stooges wake up and decide that maybe they should perhaps finally do something, well all except Cosades who quickly backs his Enforcer away from the fight.Round 11Things go from bad to worse for the Marians. As Lipscomb tries to escape he is chased by Devereaux who seems to be mocking him on an open channel. Chaddus tries to intercept and the Marian units try to focus fire on the nimble Viper but are barely able to score glancing blows on it aside from a successful kick. Worse this opens up the Hunchback to a clean shot from the Masakari and Kitten claims her third kill. Miley also takes this opportunity to fire a clean volley at the Phoenix Hawk which succeeds in crippling its gyro essentially removing it from the fight. The only saving grace for the Marians is that Lipscomb ejects to safety.

Midnight Miley wanting to get in on the action when she sees O'Mallicus Blackjack getting bullied by the Kitten decides to see if she can get a third kill here only for it to backfire as the Marians focus on her with a superb shot by Cosades' Enforcer scoring a critical hit on her gyro and disabling her MASC. This causes her Shadow Cat to fall to the ground.Chaddus in a fit of rage screams in open comms that enough is enough and he shall not be ignored. Devereaus joined by Kars and Wamuu oblige him by peppering his Victor in an almost mocking manner of light fire. In anger he stomps on the Shadow Cat causing significant damage to the mech.Round 13Midnight Miley realizes she has made a mistake and manages to get up only for the Marians to focus heavily on her. She takes a lot of fire up her rear with the most critical damage being from the Enforcer, Victor and the Whitworth which unloads all the rockets it has into her. Shockingly she remains upright after this barrage but whether she can escape remains to be seen.Mirabelle Ren meanwhile is the subject of the Canopian fury as her mech gets torn to shreds. She is still standing but there are large holes in her armor and her legs have taken quite a beating. Now there is a Viper tormenting her and she doubts she can retreat if needed.Round 14Marians finally are able to down their second mech. Midnight Miley takes an ER PPC up the ass from the Vindicator causing her mech to fall forward. She is dragged out by nearby Elementals and is able to flee. Mirabelle Ren attempts to run away but Devereaux is having none of it and decides to take on three Marians at once just so she can lock the Whitworth down. The Whitworth takes even more crippling fire but proves shockingly resilient despite being knocked down.

The Marians sensing it is over attempt a fighting retreat but they are unable to inflict meaningful damage on the advancing Canopians. Devereaux notices a Marian Blackjack attempting to retreat and decides that is not allowed, racing after it and scoring multiple crippling hits but it is not enough to stop it from fully running away.Round 16Marians are on their last stand. Chaddus decides to go down fighting and despite being swarmed from all sides including having battle armor crawling over his mech he manages to destroy the Puma at point black range before ejecting due to a strike from the Viper that destroyed his engine. The remaining Marians are now hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned.Round 17The Canopians charge the remaining Marians but aside from a small laser hit nobody manages to achieve anything.Round 18It is now Caius Cosades turned to get swarmed. Posca looks on helplessly as his comrade screams about big muscular men are trying to thrust their way into his cockpit. The remaining Canopian mechs make it harder by blasting off limbs causing his mech to fall over. Posca at least does manage to kick one of the men off.

Posca is all that remains as he gets swarmed by Elementals himself and the remaining Canopians turn their attention towards him.Round 20Surprisingly Posca manages to break free and decides to make a fight of it. He is now facing an entire Star of Elementals and two fresh Clan omnimechs. Can he do any damage here?Round 21The answer is no as he gets himself in the middle of an Elemental orgy and his mech is torn to pieces. Devereaux finishes off his mech with a kick to the CT and that is it, a crushing defeat for the Marians. The only question now is if Devereaux decides to run after the fleeing Blackjack as she can no doubt catch it and crush it easily.

Shame the rest of his forces didn't capitalize on this.Going on the cross – The Four Stooges. Seriously they spent most of the match scratching their asses. This could have been a closer fight if not victory for the Marians if they properly engaged.
