>>98592433People will ramble about W&N sable brushes, which are good quality, but while you're still learning, synthetics are fine. For larger brushes for things like base coating, you don't need to be too discerning. Stuff you find at more general craft hobby shops will be fine. For when you want to do your best at fine control I recommend starting with brushes specifically meant for miniature hobby painting. Recently I've been enjoying the Vallejo detail series, they've held up well to a lot of use, and learning to take care of your brushes (pick up Master's Brush Cleaner) will keep them going for a while. Eventually synthetics will start to splay the tips of the brush, but you're going to be a lot harder on brushes anyways while you learn and so having something like a ferrule get fucked up from paint loading in there on a synthetic you paid $5 or so will not bother you as much as on a $15 sable brush.

Had my game vs. Grey Knights, I suffered my biggest defeat this edition hands down. I barely scored any primary (Take & Hold vs. Priority Assets), and the secondaries were all difficult to complete early on. Off to a much better start this game. Going first really helps. Killed two dominion units, knocked two of the immolators down to low wounds, and battle shocked two of the objective holders which is a big deal in take&hold mirror. SoB's LD7 didn't fare well against the Neurotyrant enhanced Shadow and 5 units failed, including Junith's unit.Nids score 2 primary, and hold on to Assassinate and Burden for a future turn. With 4 objectives selected for Burden, two units dead, the entire nid army move+advanced, and half their army battle shocked, the SoB have an uphill battle going in to their turn 1. Exciting!
