Were elves more flawed in the Silmarillion than in LOTR?

One of the great things about MERP is the freedom of choice and the respect of agency in playing the game the way you want to.
>>
lotr happens in a short span of time, the simarillion happens over thousands of years so flaws become more apparent because you're following generation after generation
>>

Weren't elves more everything in the Silmarillion than in LOTR? LOTR we're seeing elves in the twilight of their species, all their greatest deeds already done and their golden years already long gone.
>>

Well, basically the LOTR takes place in what is for elves the Post-Apocalypse. Whole contenents have been sunk, catastrophic, apocalyptic wars between angels have happened, the Earth went from flat to round, the sources of life were replaced multiple times, and even there was a time without light at all until the sun was born and other stuff.
>>
>>98595902
Exactly. We're not seeing elves at the peak, or at their lowest, we're just seeing them at their end.

You're not wrong, but consider all the shit Feanor did in like...a week.
>>
Elves in Tolkien’s universe can be evil and cruel and wicked but not in the same way men are evil and cruel and wicked. It’s a lot harder to corrupt an elf than a human. But it’s possible.

No elf ever fell as low as corrupted humans did.

Didn't become a dark lord commanding orcs and dark spirits, using dark sorceries and didn't side with Melkor/Sauron.

Who the fuck are you comparing him to?
That's still far from as low as some humans fell.
>>
reminder that humans were abandoned from their very awakening with nobody to guide them and were immediately hijacked by morgoth's lies
unlike the nepobaby elves who got all the attention the valar could give them and offered a free ride to paradise the moment morgoth started bothering them
elves couldn't survive a tenth of what men have gone through. men constantly have to tough it out. elves immediately threw a nepobaby tantrum when things aren't going their way and expect the valar or fucking men to fix their shit
>>
Speaking of Morgoth's lies...
>>
>>98597709
where did you get this idea that entire races in lotr are goody two shoes? sounds like secondary shit
>>
>>98595268
>that art
Tolkien actually hated bishounen femboys elves
in his mind male elves were meant to be broad-shouldered, square-jawed gigachads
this isn't shitposting, it's really what he thought

Get the clue. You're being ignored for a reason.

>MERP
how are the tieflings in MERP?
>>

*cambions
>>
Remember that the time period between the Silmarillion and Lord of the Rings is a very long timespan and Elves are immortal biologically. So, the nastier Elves would had been killed off in that time period.
>>
>>98597784
No men has ever been twisted and corrupted into becoming Orcs.
>>
>>98602674
Tolkien constantly changed the origin of the orcs in his notes and the version of the story which made it into the movies was just one of these versions, the last he was considering just before his death was actually orcs being descended from corruption and twisted humans rather than elves
>>
>>98597961
This artist draws really good porn of Shadowheart
>>
>>98602842
And thank goodness Christopher Tolkien rejected that latest change, just like he rejected Middle-earth always having been round. The (published) Silmarillion leans in to the Elvish origin.
>>
>>98602861
Lol
>>
>>98602842

Look, I know Tolkien was a massive fan of elves, but I honestly think the elf origin is so much better than the human one.
