What TTRPG(s) best emulates the feel of the Tokusatsu genre? Do different games work better for different sub-genres (i.e. Kyodai hero vs. Henshin hero vs. Sentai)?I've heard mixed things about the official Power Rangers RPG. I've also heard, anecdotally, that Deviant: The Renegades can run Kamen Rider really well. But I'm curious what other options are out there, if any.

>>98596728There’s a few that have tried like Convictor Drive, EVOL and Lumen Ryder Core, but it’s hard to properly translate this medium into game terms. And stuff like Teaca Sentai and Teens with Attitude try to fit the aesthetic into their own frame, but still don’t feel quite right. You might be better off for now getting a more generic system like Savage World’s Tokusatsu book or using a system like Mutants and Masterminds that lets you build one to your liking. Or try any of the things I suggested, I’m not going to stop anyone.

>>98596728There's a supplement for savage worlds called savage tokosatsu that sort of runs the gamut from Godzilla and Ultra Q, to Ultraman, to Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. Savage Worlds is a pretty good base for this kind of thing, especially if you throw in the super powers companion. The base games has simple rules for mook enemies, and the combat is relatively tactical without getting too bogged down. It's one of the few games Ive ran where having a big fight with a lot of combatants isn't shitty.
