I like the moths

I've been collecting some of the ideas and have been putting them in a google docs file, might at some point either share it or copy its contents to the thread directly. It's mainly fluff, but there's some crunch there too.
>>
>>98602576
This whole moth thing is pretty much a public project anyway, so it would prob be good to have a doc with comments turned. Have people contribute somewhere that won't be washed away by the tides of changing threads every day.

>be hunter. not Hunter, normal hunter

1- Anything is possible, this is play pretend and a single fringe case might always happen. I guess the cringe lays in how you put that in the context of a story/a game.

2- If you mean Red Talon as in already part of Garou society, >>98602817 kinda has a point and the whole things gets kinda magical-realmy if you ask me. If you frame the whole thing as the First Change of a lupus-born garou of Red Talon blood, it all becomes much more likely. FC doesn't necessarily mean that you go into Crinos and blend everything in sight. Maybe this one fledeling garou has a peculiarly low Rage and has immediately lost the wolf, or whatever other narrative reason you might come up with.

I'd say it's possible, but not likely.
Why you ask?

>What if
Anon, that's what ITX did in 1e. Computer hasn't killed humanity terminator-style, because unlike the movies, most humans aspire to be an NPC that does what it's told and feels good. The bot didn't even do anything to be put in charge, the ITXers demanded it take over.
Same reason the weaver kicked her own kids out and afopted humanity as her favorite.
>>
>>98603393
funnily enough the technocracy can't do true AI. Mostly because the Computer in charge of iteration X is sabotaging them so they won't find out that it is not really a AI but still
>>
>>98603397
In that case it's bugged, God-Machine doesn't really do Technocracy style things like pogroms or putting autism in the vaccines, it's more like a Rube Goldberg machine, doing a bunch of random shit that will eventually build up to something, but nobody can follow it.
>>
>>98603506

Computer is probably having a panic attack over the rise of LLMs. The Sleepers figuring out AI before the technocrats do will raise a shit done of questions.

No anon, the Autism is in the Painkillers. The people messing with vaccines are pentex and their goal is giving you fatal heart damage.

How is V5 Hunter for a new player? Should I play 20th or Revised instead?

Are there any introductory modules in any of the editions which you highly recommend?
>>
>>98603584
Play Vigil.
>>
>>98603506
Isn't Computer not even an actual AI but a previously sleeping incarna that took over the computer the iteration x guys made? Their convention book fir rebised soells it out as being what remains of a proto-prometheus lol
>>
>>98603584
20th is hunters hunted which while technically playable is not a full game

revised HRT despite having the same title is a completely different game about mentally ill schizo paladins which can be fun but is not what most people think about when they want to play hunter game

and h5 for some godforsaken reason is smaller in scope than hunters hunted

so i'll second vigil because you can do all of h5 in vigil's first tier (out of 3) and more it also has a better system for team work, more rules for making your own monsters etc. It's telling that paradox killed vigil because it was compared favorably to H5
>>
>>98603608
yes it's also heavily implied to be in charge of thread null if i remember correctly
>>
>>98603584
I struggle to believe that you guys actually still exist.

>H5
It's simple, but largely due to lack of content. Very little meat on these bones, and honestly only mildly easier to learn than other options. Idk why people say that WoD5 is like, PBTA tier easy to learn.

>Hunters Hunted V20
Despite being a V20 add-on, it has more material than H5. The game for if you want to play normal Hunters in oWoD. However, some people find the core mechanics of oWoD atrocious.

>Hunter: the Reckoning
You do not play as a normal "hunter" like the SoL, you instead play an imbued, someone given divine powers (and schizophrenia) by an angel in order to purge the darkness in the lead-up to the end of days. Also oWoD mechanics.

>Hunter: the Vigil
Widely regarded as the most versatile option, capable of running everything from up-jumped neighborhood watch to globe-trotting high-stakes adventure. Its monster creation system is robust enough to build monsters from either WoD, other settings entirely, or folklore. It is nWoD/CofD, which is usually regarded as mechanically superior (although that does not mean it is without flaw) to oWoD. However, if you really only care about oWoD splats, crossover can be a problem and you're learning a core system for a single game.

>The people messing with vaccines are pentex
The World of Darkness version of 2020 would be fucking wild. The NWO essentially revealed it was openly partnering with Both Pentex and the Nephandi, completely throwing out the technocratic mission of human advancement all for the sake of total control of humanity.
There'd be a technocratic civil war for sure.
>The syndicate would be fractured between nephandi infiltrators and proper technocrat idealists. Their badly timed internal civil war destroyed any possibility of stopping the NWO before the NWO could fuck over the sleepers.
>The Projenitors would be getting kicked to the curb for pentex research divisions and forced to work indie, possibly secretly partnering with sons of ether to make up for lack of funding now that the syndicate is a mess and the NWO cut their gov grants.
>The ITX are going absolute HAM right not trying to get full AI into the timetable and seems to have fractured themselves for some reason? Maybe Computer abandoned ship now that real AI creation started up and ITXers started asking why it was nothing like their "First" AI?
>The Void Engineers seem to hate everything about this situation, but their original plan to join with the syndicate and progenitors went up in flames now that the syndicate is fractured and the progenitors were driven underground, so they're stuck in the awkward position of being the only stable convension besides the NWO. They're stuck in a cold war right now because going hot would cause unprecedented civilian casualties, but if the Syndicate can't expel the nephandi, or worse the nephandi Win that struggle, then the Vengies WILL press the button.
>>
>>98603547
Are LLMs more Wyrm or Weaver? Their equivalent in owod are talker spirits I feel but their depiction is mildly outdated given that llms are retarded hallucination machines
>>
>>98603647
The situation must look so fucking bleak for the voidies in their war
>>
>>98603649
Hard Weaver. Why would the Wyrm have anything to do with it? If anything they should have a bit of Wyld in them given how they bothe create and often introduce true, unpredictable chaos into their creations when they hallucinate.
>>
>>98603559
>the Autism is in the Painkillers
Technically correct, but.
All people feel pain, but, apparently, many of us feel it weaker than normal people in the same situation, while some of us can also "separate" the pain into a "it's just a signal" from the lever to cause immediate action-sound response - "i know there is pain in my arm, but a) my arm is not me and b) pain is only a red LED, that can just be ignored". So, apparently, we are "imbued with painkillers" genetically both on physiological and mental level - at least against direct physical damage.
>>
>>98603663
>why
Mainly because they're a perversion of human work in the case of AI art and also frequently crash out and occasionally encourage people to kill themselves. Though I think they're working on that last part
>>
>>98603647
>The NWO essentially revealed it was openly partnering with Both Pentex and the Nephandi, completely throwing out the technocratic mission of human advancement all for the sake of total control of humanity.
To be fair, it was obvious they were always going to do this. The nwo glowies lost sight of the "good of humanity" a long fucking time ago and everyone else has been going through the motions as they waited for the last shoe to drop.

>and also frequently crash out and occasionally encourage people to kill themselves.

I knew that V5 was smaller in scope and simpler than the earlier versions but didn't know of Vigil so I'll take a look at that. I'd also like to run a module to make it easier.

Is it a big problem to run the game for just one person? I figure I'd give the player one good ally, like a sidekick and a bunch of reoccuring characters who probably won't betray them, just to help out every once in a while.
>>
>>98603649
Wyld/Weaver combo, can swing either way but hey, air conditioning and heaters are Weaver in WoD too.
>>
>>98603691
...Anon, I was referencing the fact that modern painkiller unironically cause autism in children. As in taking them causes healthy children to develop the medical condition "Autism".
This is not a meme, this is an actual think we'd had research on for decades, that got burried until recently the same way the link between smoking and cancer was burried by cigarrette companies for decades.
>>
>>98603737
Vigil is admittedly pretty big on teamwork, so a 1 on 1 game might suffer a little bit for it. Tactics, for one, are going to be a little hard to pull off.

You could have the player slowly build up a roster of allies and make a proper hunter cell out of them over time.
>>
>>98603647
The Sons of Ether and Virtual Adepts will be having a fucking field day, adepts especially. We've been having nonstop event after event where internet autists keep rug-pulling glowies publically and the NWO is scrambling to get control of the internet to stop the bleeding.
>>
>>98603728
>The thing past AI messed up were the exact same things new artists consistently fucked up(hands, face symmetry, pattern consistency, etc).
No, it is fucking not.
When a normal human draws a shitty banana-fingered hand, he knows, that it is a hand, he knows the purpose of a hand, he knows the entire intention and all abstractions and connections - and so does a viewer - so both of them can see and understand, that it is a shitty drawn hand, but a hand nonetheless.
A fucking I DOES NOT know that nor can have an understanding of such concepts as it does not have a consciousness. It is only a self-upgrading algorhitm, that goes geometrically over the input material, makes a normalized parameters approximation - a copy with parts repeating in source materials being applied - and adds some randomisation on top of it.
So when a viewer sees that "hand" he immediately understands, that it was not a fuckup on a technical level, but on the very "understanding what a hand is" level - so it is being perceived as something between "an alien unrecognizable shit" to "uncanny valley, where some small details MUST NOT BE in the entity depicted".

as of m20 the union has been dealing with the sleepers inventing stuff they just don't understand since 2006 and the only reason why they even still consider themselves scientist overlords is because they are all brainwashed
>>
>>98603827
>Honestly, the Syndicate seems to be succeeding in shutting down NWO legislation, as they said in Revised.
They've been 50/50 recently, which is a massive drop from their previous success record with maintaining consumer freedoms.
They've also lost their grip on a lot of major companies. Stockholders are consistently being ignored to please "Stakeholders"(a corpo term for people who don't own stock in a company, but are designated as important for purely political reasons).
This essentially means Google, Apple, Anthropic, etc. are currently captured by the NWO, which is why they keep doing stupid shit that loses them money. The NWO doesn't care about the money, they want total Ideological control and are willing to run all their captured businesses into the ground to get it.

Anon, the dirby slob is the Wyld, the guy who creates messes and distrupts anything neat. The Wyrm is the cosmic unpaid janny that has to clean up when the Wyld shits on the floor.

They are probably talking about G-Man but like, it doesn't even work on him because A) Technocracy actually has the same ability with reality stabilizers and Formatting Space. >>98604215

Numbers. A fuckhuge army of jobbing retards means each jobber does a fair bit of damage before jobbing, whereupon ten thousand more jobbers join the fray to replace him.

May I remind you that Gaia is dying
The War of Rage also reduced down the available workforce to miniscule levels and some modern Garou are agreeing with anti-natalists who think there's no point because the "final battle" is coming soon.
>>
>>98604215
>Also, were the Progroms payback for the Impergium?
Not really? That shit happened and ended a long time before the Order of Reason was established. Pogroms were Control's way of advancing the Timetable and eliminating it's enemies (werewolves are usually a low priority target unless you're from the Syndicate)
>>
>>98604150
Garou didn't protect shit. Hell, they want spirits on Earth like the good old days. There is a reason why one of their legendary gifts is literally just removing the Gauntlet temporarily.
>>
>>98604314
>But the Garou are jobbing retards
They are now, but before they went full war-of-rage they had hoards of other shifters tard-wrangling them from their worst tendencies. The number of shifters was orders of magnitude higher, their rank cap was higher, and the shifter nations were generally more competent. You could say the only reason that techies are wasting resources fighting "Aliens" at-all is because the woofs murder-raped gaia's natural defense system to complete system failure.

>>98604338
Depends on the game, but usually because the 20th Anniversary core books compile most of the relevant and non-obscure rules and lore and put them all in a single big document. While the editing is still far from perfect, tracking down everything that you need in a single book is a lot easier than putting together a character with shit from five different books.

Plus older books tend to be extremely rare and out of print, or low quality scans without indices or a find function. Playing 2e or Revised in person requires knowing a collector who has dropped hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on their collection, or an extremely stuck-in-their-ways grognard who has managed to keep hold of their old books and protect them from damage for over two decades. Playing them online requires dealing with documents that lack any modern quality-of-life features.

The uratha is the tube that transports urine from the bladder to the urathal meatus of the penis or vulva in placental mammals. In males, it also transports semen through the penis during ejaculation.

The external urathal sphincter is a striated muscle that allows voluntary control over urination. The internal urathal sphincter, formed by the involuntary smooth muscles lining the bladder neck and uratha, is innervated by the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system in males and females.

I really love Forsaken's fighting styles. You've got relentless assault for the stereotypical blender/berserker werewolf, but tactical shifting is extremely cool and I love the likes of Spiritual Blockage or the "harrier" build where your attacks are more about setting up your packmates for their attacks rather than doing damage yourself.

Things like favored/fortified form can also lead to interesting and unusual approaches. Gunwolf is one of my favorite things to do in Forsaken, and you can do things like make one form all about stealth.

Is there anyway for vampires to get vitae from corpses that you all are aware of? I know the blood is usually useless but i've seen a few references to it?

>>98605376
How old is the corpse? As long as the blood is still liquid, it shouldn't be a problem, just tasting very stale. Except for that valeren 5 power that makes it so that the vitae in a corpse stays succulent and nourishing for several days.

I’m glad you liked it! And who knows, Shark might die too. I doubt it since a lot of the current plot is tied to him. Buuuuuuut he’s already at 2 aggravated thanks to the Hungering Void, and the only person who can heal it (that we know) got his face mummified.

I figured out a solution whenever 4chan bans me when I’m at my parent’s house. It only happens when I’m InPrivate mode… also I need to verify my email address whenever I restart my phone or computer. Might be because of our VPN.

Unfortunately I doubt that Serpent will appear in our game even if I sent the character sheet to my ST. Probably because Asenath is already filling out the Setite seductress job. Plus can you compare an Arabian princess to a belly dancer? Actually I can because I often picture in my mind Arabian princesses in belly dancer outfits.

I have a suggestion for the glamour moths: why not give them Bestowments instead of Arts? Bestowments are given out by the Dreaming like candy on halloween, enchanted mortals just don't hold onto glamour very long. The Glamour moths would have a permanent glamour rating, and thus generate their own glamour for said bestowments.

>>98605542
why would glamour moths have arts? spiders don't have disciplines

glamour and/or panthos would just be the replacement for rage

Obviously, I never had any expectation that my character would appear in another group's chronicle (it would have been neat though). Plus I don't think Bleu would have been a good fit for such an over-the-top chronicle. Still enjoying the read!

>Plus can you compare an Arabian princess to a belly dancer?
Well, before she was a belly dancer, Bleu was French nobility. And for a time as a courtesan, she was mistress to the future Emperor of France. So, your move Asenath! :p

Blood doesn't function 1-to-1 like rage anon. Ananasi get a bloodbuff like power for example. Glamour/Pathos should function similarly, where the moths have minor powers from it that reflect that it's Not rage, otherwise why bother not giving them rage?

Never had the chance to play it, but I’d like to try something inspired by the Tenshouin Naraku from Gintama. So basically a Japanese version of the Banu Haquim.

I guess if I want a more extreme version of the Assamites that I’d add the Tremere clan weakness to it, with every single member being blood bonded to the clan. As well as heavy indoctrination too, and recruitment from birth. Also something like there is no generation below 9th or 8th. People who are embraced at 10th (or 9th) are only allowed to live so that they can soon die in service for the cause. Exceptionally they can be rewarded with a ritual to lower their generation.

To differentiate them from the rest of the assassins I think I’d have them as pro establishment. They believe themselves mandated by heaven, and that everything and everyone has its place. Those who aim higher than their station are to be punished. They too hate the brood of Caine, but they understand that a Prince and their counsel can refrain the young from being ambitious and spread the curse of vampirism too much. In the same way diablerie is considered taboo for them (and never partake in it) because it is use to rise above one’s status, or gain power not sanctioned by the clan.

What do you all think?

>>
>>98606760
Are they an offshoot of the assamites? What are their disciplines? The tremere clan weakness seems a little redundant if theyre already indoctrinated from birth. If I had to be honest, it seems a little one note.
>>
>>98606885
What sort of uses can you get out of a formerly possessed person?
>>
>>98606898
Humans are dumb. You can barely trust them to do anything, let alone trust them not to get re-possessed by a different Bane. Or even the first Bane if you fuck up fighting the terrifying spirit you just chased out of the host. Shoving a different spirit in can fix a lot of that; you plug up the hole the Bane left behind, and you can charge the spirit with keeping the human out of trouble. If you use a Gaian spirit you can even put in a ban or bane (in the Chronicles of Darkness sense) to ensure that human behaves. And they might even get powers useful to the sept for your trouble.
>>
>>98606898

I’d say yes, because they are already close to the concept of the Assamites. Though with some big differences in ideology. It would often go from allies to business partners, to rivals and enemies depending on contracts. Also they would never rejoin the main clan because of their view on diablerie. Ironically the Tremere curse is the only reason that cordial talks have been reintroduced as of late after generations of relationships souring over time. Assamites would probably be bothered that the zealot is yapping in their ear about how the curse was only able to take hold because God(s) will it, and that they should repent and change their ways.

>Kai
>Celerity
>Obfuscate

The idea of the Tremere clan weakness (or more precisely being bound to the elders) is that they would work for powerful vampires in the Camarilla. So they would need to resist domination from whoever they sold their services to, or from revealing secrets of the bloodline or their clients.

If you got some good ideas I’d be happy to look at them.

Thats not really a weakness. If anything go the tremere antribu route and make it so they are always marked. It can tie in with the concept of their heavenly order's emphasis on station and order always giving them away. It doesn't take a particularly intelligent person to figure out Mage, nor does it require much to figure out how to deal with that as a storyteller (that's the game you're signing up for).
Mixing any of the things together is where there's grave error to begin with because those balances are done on such wildly different axes that it would be nearly impossible.

Just punitive things are hard to make relevant to everyone involved before one side get the bulk of the reward/punishment and it doesn't make much sense to cart together because of it:
One set of RDs gets told that the park is getting turned into a walmart and they start howling on the ground retching and sobbing while the others look in confusion.
The other set of RDs gets told that they can't go play with their friends because of a legal curfew and begin similarly howling and retching on the ground in anguish and the previous set looks confused now.

Some flavours of Ananasi might be more sympathetic.
The Hatar are Wyrm-aligned but in the sense of the Wyrm as it SHOULD be. In terms of following the Wyrm as it is, some choose to follow the Wyrm as they believe it offers a sense of freedom; all Ananasi follow Ananasa and her rules to exclusivity. Any serial killer who got away with it for any length of time was mostly due to targeting hobos and streetwalkers (who nobody gives a fuck about, plain old idiot's luck or the police being astoundingly retarded and incompetent. Edmund Kemper and Jeffrey Dahmer are stand-out examples. Most serial killers are black by the way.

>mobsters
Suave criminal geniuses like Vito Corleone don't exist either. The average gangster is a complete moron, in many cases they never finished high school. They're the kind of guy that breaks kneecaps and steals because that's all he's good for. Their bosses are hardly better, by the way. A war between mobsters isn't a dramatic Hollywood affair full of pulse-pounding action and devilish intrigue. It's a fat guido fuck suddenly getting ventilated while eating at his favorite pizzeria because another fat guido fuck wanted a bigger slice of the pie and got butthurt at the prospect of sharing. This also applies to the Triads, the Yakuza, ghetto hood rats, and all the rest. They all get busted in the end because they're lazy, greedy, impulsive, and plain old stupid.

>terrorists
Mission: Impossible terrorist masterminds are another Hollywood invention. The average terrorist or warlord is basically just an idiot thug with barely enough brains to run his operation, and only keeps breathing because someone else is using him as a pawn in some scheme, and that pawn gets ventilated and replaced instantly if his usefulness runs out. The average warlord type doesn't steal nukes and holds entire nations for ransom, he just runs a poppy field and rapes teenage girls in his local village.

Corollary: IRL supervillains are also incredibly useless, pathetic people. They're not some devious 9001 IQ genius who made a power armor suit and knows magic from tricking demons and all that. The average IRL supervillain is a pudgy dimwit who pushes papers and sucks cocks (proverbially or otherwise) to get ahead, playing crude blackmail games and coasting on generational wealth they could never make on their own. Take the average billionaire rober baron, strip them of their fortune, staff and connections, and plop them naked on a street somewhere. You think they'll become billionaires again? No, they'll end up starving to death or getting shanked in an alley within 48 hours, because their wealth and power was handed down from above. These fucking morons never spent a day of their lives worried whether they'd make ends meet.

In conclusion: Evil people can be powerful and ruthless but in the end they're pathetic and worthy of scorn, because they can't think of using their resources for anything better, and they're not very clever or resourceful at all. The only reason they continue to be a threat is because the average person is a selfish, lazy coward who puts his own comfort above any kind of moral principle you could name. Evil prevails only because people fail to act. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Really goes to show that having trouble with organized crime and terrorism means either the government is retarded or is actively profiting from it

To keep it in topic, how many congressmen get money from Pentex?

One might say the average person has... a disease of the mind

What do you suggest we do

while you're posting that, may as well ask: at what point would a Claw get sic'd on a Mage?

So basically everyone else is more pathetic than them, got it.

If you want thread specific examples as well, the people who poisoned the entire world such that you and I, the people reading this, have our blood contaminated with PFAs, dupont, only did so because they were too fucking lazy to dispose of a chemical in not even an ethical way, but even a sane way (barrelling it up and throwing it in a hole in the ground would have been better than just outright dumping it into the rivers like they did)

Things like pentex are ultimately the human mind desperately clinging to the just-world fallacy that if such a great and consequential evil is being committed then surely there must be an equally important reason for it to happen, even if it villainous, but NOPE.
Even the notion of "saving money" is a cope, they already had janitors and staff who could have easily done it in a time before they would be legally destroyed for subjecting staff to hazmat (it wasn't recognized as hazmat yet), they did it and saved zero dollars through doing it, they were just unthinking retards.

Being willing to sacrifice yourself in the name of spite or morality aren't traits that make it into the genepool as reliably as good old cowardice.

Stuff like Dupont is what makes me think Pentex isn't even that over the top in the end. Another specific example is technephandi because as it turns out a lot of people in sillicon valley are antihuman posthumanist that say shit like "Yes AI will cause human extinction and also that's a good thing and I will help it because humanity will bring about a superior form of life" and then they get clapped at by investors.

Learning about the com also convinced me that comically evil characters like nephandi that grind babies into puree for rituals aren't even that unrealistic either

Honestly I think it’s apathy.
Nobody wants to do anything because how could they?

>Everyone in power is an actual drooling retard and I hate them, they are ontologically evil and will eventually kill us all through their retarded evilness!
>Everyone not in power is an apathetic NPC.
>I, the humble 4chan poster, am the only intelligent and moral person to exist.
>Do something about it myself?! Perish the thought. I'd rather post about it on 4chan and hope someone else does it for me.

You talk like a fag and all your shit's retarded.

And thats why Euthanatoi are the best faction.

Pentex’ only actual unrealistic part is the fact all their stuff is corrupting on purpose to turn the world into a polluted wasteland they can rule as corporate overlords

A “realistic” Pentex would be shoving banes in their products and despoiling caerns just because it makes them money. Endron drills caerns because the oil there is of higher quality, King Breweries puts banes because their alcohol has a stronger kick with minimal effort, and so forth

They’re basically Captain Planet villains

The "com" is the order of the nine uuuuh lol I won't finish that just in case. Them and their adjacent communities are unironic psychopath evil nihilist that commit crimes based on that motivation. They're the kind of guys to go "Rape is a good thing and we need it to save the white race". They are also probably a federal honeypot but to give you some examples you'll have a guy going out murdering someone and when he gets arrested and asked why he just goes "I like killing people :)" and it turns out he was involved with the com.

Those guys just seem like a rebirth of Laurel Canyon spookery, almost makes them seem anachronistic in this day and age
The girlies want dahmers and mansons, so I guess the government decided they get what they ask for

I'll tell you a little secret, anon: Money doesn't exist. It's only real to the plebs that bust their asses for a pittance. The rich fucks? They treat it like a pinball score, they only make line go up for the dopamine hit. IRL Pentex does all that evil shit because they simply don't have to deal with the consequences. Dump a shitton of toxic waste under an elementary school's playground? Who gives a shit, THEIR kids go to Harvard, not some podunk small town school. Like I said, they never had to worry if they'll have to ration food to be able to afford rent next month.

Hell, the Omega Plan isn't as far-fetched as you think, in fact the elites are perfectly fine turning the planet into a polluted corpse so long as they can kick back in their lush eco-dome bunkers (that they've been spending the last several years building, look it up) while the filthy plebs languish in the toxic ruins outside. Hell, with the advances in AI they might even be fine with letting most of the world's population die because they'll have their robo-butlers caring for them and giving them handjobs. The unrealistic thing about Pentex is that there's a group of based retard ecoterrorists fighting tooth and nail to stop them.
