Accepting that we likely never have, and never will play with anyone else here, lets share our character concepts.
FaradayRobo-Panther built in a lab by gnomes experimenting with making a construct that has some intelligence, while lacking independent thought. This model was marked for destruction when it asked "why" during testing, but was found discarded in an alley by the party.Has no hands, and as such cannot carry any equipment that doesn't either fit in a backpack or her mouth.
>>98603364>Drunken master monk with a Jackie Chan humor aspect.Simple as.
HelChangling sex-worker, could be whatever her clients wanted. When she was found out, she was murdered by a group of angry ex-clients. She awoke as an undead, with a life-draining crystal orb in her hand. She uses flowing clothes and perfumes to cover up her situation, so as to not always need to focus on her ruse. She now seeks to understand what is the essence of life that separates the living and the dead.
had an idea for a vain prettyboy monk that refused to shave his head, and so developed a fighting style around whipping enemies with his (possibly magical) hair. Never quite fleshed him out, he definitely needs some kind of proper motivation i think, both for why he adventures and why (and how) he so obstinately uses his hair as a weapon.
AarumiRazorclaw hunter who left her clan after her sister's fiance was murdered. Her clan, which wouldn't hesitate to cut a hand off of a thief, does not believe in killing, only allowing it's hunters to kill even game animals or in protection of their people. While the people of the clan respect the hunter caste for doing a dangerous and difficult job, they also stigmatize and distrust them all the same.In truth, Aarumi killed her sister's fiance and covered it up; she is exactly what her people feared their hunters might be.
>>98603451I feel like you could incorporate bladed/magical hair beads to justify nay-naying your enemies to death. Or go the "looks like a courtesan, is actually an assassin" sort of route, where things like capoeira are designed to be dangerous while looking like something else.Leaving the magical hair thing could also be good, as it does allow for the GM to put you in disadvantageous situations, which can be good for collaborative storytelling.
>>98603451Make him a half-genie.
Andromalius EscariotFormer soldier who left after his contract was up to become a paladin of the green. Extremely gregarious, will believe everything that anyone tells him. Has never made an insight check in his life.
>>98603364A shapeshifter who spends all their time as a Dinosaur entirely by choice because they have dinosaur autism.
>>98603364An awakened hen who somehow can convey exactly what she's trying to say through flapping her wings and clucking. Is able to shoot explosive eggs. Also, can beat the tar out of any creature by crashing into them, even dragons.
>>98603568So Kazooie?
>All the concepts are freakshitHey faggots maybe there's a reason nobody wants to play with you?
>>98603766>this threadThere comes a point in your life when you realize that a “character concept” in and of itself is cringe. To develop a fictional character with personalities and goals, aesthetics and mannerisms, a name, all before sitting down and rolling a single die is the pastime of a delusional and hurt person who plays games as an outlet for their own childish desires and not, in fact, as a cooperative play experience. When I invite somebody to a game and they say “I have a character concept” the answer has never once, ever, brought me anything but concern, nor could I fathom any answer, no matter how dull or mundane or generic, that indicates anything but the beginnings of expectation before context. And like a horny 17 year old beholding a pair of well developed breasts for the first time, his expectations will inevitably supersede his environment and lead to disastrous results.
>>98603630Sorta, now that I think about it.
>>98603475do genies have some association with hair? I don't really know their mythology
>>98603766we already got to play all our normal characters, this is what's left. did you not read the OP?
>>98603364the trouble with this is i cant risk my shit being reposted to reddit, where i know there are people i play with (pity me)
Mizz Keelou, a halfing Diviner Wizard for 5e with the Lucky feat. Between Portent, the Lucky feat, and the Halfing ability to reroll a nat 1, I plan on scamming as many people as possible.
>>98603831I cannot fathom sitting down to play a game, that isn't up-front a one shot, with no plan or idea what kind of person I'm playing. Are you also against session 0's, or do you just not do long-form?>>98603766I play games twice a week, and have used all of the characters I've posted; thanks for contributing nothing.
>>98604607As someone who has DM'd, I will tell you that any ability that allows "do-overs" is some bullshit.Consider this: Failure is more interesting than success.
A bard cursed to speak only in real world songs' quotes.
Undead Fighter that was a Paladin in life and was blinded in the process of his death. Delusional, believes he's still alive and a force of divine justice. Full on Don Quixote. Wears such full armor most people don't realize he's a corpse either, except for when lovely ladies offer their gallant champion a kiss upon the cheek
>>98604718There is going to come a point where he tries to do -a- spell, and it's not going to work.
>>98604736He would simply explain away its failure or be convinced of its success. Ah, Pelor refused to smite this accursed undead creature because he trusts my strength of arms; another test for his most valiant knight!
>>98604635Shouldn't you be happy then at all the interesting failure of your plot setups they're going to create? Or is failure only interesting when it's happening on the other side of the table from you?
>>98604635>Consider this: Failure is more interesting than success.NTA but that's an awfully sweeping statement. It CAN be sometimes more interesting.
>>98604625Oh my fucking god, how dumb can you seriously be? This can't be bait, you are factually retarded.
>>98604693Fucking finally, a concept worth considering. There are only two players I would allow to play this but man that sounds fun.
>>98604869So when someone asks you to make a character, what do you show up with?
>>98604402Are you fucking with me right now, or have you seriously never heard of Shantae?
>>98604635>Failure is more interesting than success. Why are you such a cuck?
Human Male Fighter
>>98604208Based and Platformerpilled. Take some sort of ability that lets you deal damage with insults or at least invest into the stat/skill for the system that makes you good at talking shit and you're aces.
>>98604883Yeah, you need quite some musical culture and/or probably a list of quotes for common situations, but I really want to see it
Nobody in my local scene is interested in WoD, let alone fan splats. But I've had an idea for a Princess character who's magical girl power is having a glock
>>98603364Why does she have fingers in her shoes?
>>98603451Is this a Jojos reference?
>>98603766Or, more charitably, they recognize that these ideas would not fit normal campaigns and wind up using their Human Male Fighter™ideas instead while the freakshit awaits a campaign that will never arrive.
>>98603364indiana jones but he’s a dwarf
>>98603364Middle aged blue collar worker who's a part time evangelical pastor that breaches next to an Applebee's that stumbled upon something that he can only describe as diabolic. For a Hunter: The Virgil game one day.
An offshot of George Psalmanazar: one of the most famous and bizarre con artists in British history. In the early 1700s-right around the same time Newton was running the Royal Mint and fighting crime, Psalmanazar captivated London’s high society, the Anglican Church, and scientists by claiming to be the first native of Formosa (modern-day Taiwan) to visit Europe. In reality, he was a white French guy.Because almost no one in Europe had ever been to Taiwan, Psalmanazar completely made up Formosan customs. He ate raw meat heavily seasoned with cardamom, claimed Formosans slept sitting upright in chairs, and pretended to worship the sun and moon with complex daily rituals. He constructed an entire fake Formosan language (complete with an alphabet, grammar rules, and translations) which was so detailed that scholars at Oxford actually studied it.In 1704, he published "Historical and Geographical Description of Formosa", a totally fabricated book detailing Formosa's society. He wrote that the island was ruled by the Emperor of Japan and claimed Formosans sacrificed 18,000 young boys to their gods every year. British elites bought it hook, line, and sinker. They welcomed him into high-society salons, and the Bishop of London even sponsored him to translate religious texts into "Formosan."Eventually, suspicion grew as genuine travelers to East Asia began pointing out that nothing Psalmanazar said matched actual Formosan culture. He was challenged in public debates, and by 1706, his narrative completely unraveled. Surprisingly, he was never executed or imprisoned. Instead, he confessed, retired from his life as a conman, and spent the rest of his years as a legitimate, respected literary scholar in London.
>>98603364A living armor filled with sea water, who summons sharks.A Dullahan who searches for his head with the fun part being that he can still perceive through his head.
>>98603766I play in a game where the human is the weirded member of the party. We have a Dragonborn, a Bugbear, and a Tiefling, and out of all of them the human is a fucked up little gremlin creature of a moon druid. Also, freakshit is a retarded buzzword with no clear meaning used by midwit nogames to try and shame people who actually have games, but news flash faggot, you're the one who deserves to be shamed for being so insufferable nobody wants you at their table.>WAHH D&DOGSHITI'm also in a Dragonball game where the party is a saiyan, a freiza race/arcosian character, a fish alien who is literally just a buff, bipedal tuna fish right down to having a tuna head like the reporter from fucking spongebob with only slightly more of a neck, and a human from earth who was a later addition to the party and, by virtue of the rest of it, would be the "freakshit" by your measure.Mind, there are times where humans only is enforced. For example, I'm in a Perfect Draw game where everyone has to be human because it's set on earth, and we're just now getting the magical bullshit added into the game so nobody could start with the playbook that lets you be non-human, but it works because it's more grounded. Humans only in """fantasy""" is silly, because it basically is fantasy with nothing.
>>98607576The Dullahan one is awesome. Do they wear a helmet to prevent freaking people out?
>>98604625>classes>session zeros>character conceptsAll a slippery slope to ego rolling and all should be avoided. Random roll starting characters or select from a stable. After player death you can select a hireling or ally to play or roll new and we’ll pick it up as soon as possible. I realize it sounds like “no fun allowed” but truly the “fun” you get from your character lasts about 2-3 sessions and then becomes burdensome when it becomes repetitive or your expectations aren’t met. Or it becomes an additional burden on the GM to continually inject the game with shit you personally demand to satisfy the ongoing ego rolling.
