Forgot the title anon
are necromunda campaigns supposed to have an overarching plot or is it just a system to connect independent games?if the former, are you meant to create separate stories for each gang or make up some hive threatening malarkey that affects everyone or is there another solution?
>>98604016With a good arbitrator, I would say so. A good arby takes the events of the campaign scenario and could lay out interesting custom events and such to fit the narrative.Other than that though, a Necromunda campaign can just be about gangs fighting over territory. I guess it depends on your arby/group. My group made little faux newspaper entires to describe the aftermath of battles.
How's the new edition for mesbg so far?
>>98604016The default campaign is just about gangs fighting over territories and it's up to the players (especially the arbitrator) to make a story out of that. If you're new you want to start with that kind of campaign. There've been some other campaign types in previous books that split gangs into two sides (Chaos or not, outlaw or not) so that you're a small part of something bigger that's going on in the background. They can get more complicated to manage.
Newfag was thinking of getting into Necromunda. If I wanna MOSTLY cover WYSIWYG for minis is getting 2x of the crew boxes enough? Was thinking of starting with Orlock or Escher. Also any general tips for gang building when playing?
>>98607470Don't think about it that much. Everything above rule of cool is gamebreaking in necromunda. Don't know how it is in the new edition though.
>>98607470Just get one crew box and wait for the new minis to come out, like the upcoming Escher champions/pets or the 8 specialists in the starter box that'll eventually get their own release. The crew boxes come with 16 gangers. You start with 8-10 and add more, but they can share a pool of weapons so you can share minis between gangers. And it's less work to snip off a gun than to repaint a whole second mini.General advice... don't use a loadout more than twice. Leaders need to be decent in short-range shooting and in melee. You want at least a couple prospects because they have more potential, i.e. more level ups than most others even if you take into account level ups that bring their WS/BS to fighter level. The special prospects (wyld runners, wreckers) come with just enough XP to get a skill but it's a fixed one. They're pretty decent. Champions are usually the melee specialists, especially the special ones (death maidens, weapon masters). Eschers are probably not going to take cumbersome weapons, and the shock whip kinda sucks right now.A lot of your fighters will exist to suppress the enemy while going for objectives or closing in for close combat. That's what lasguns are for. Autoguns are a little better at actually hurting people (with the risk of running out of ammo) but close combat is a lot more decisive.
Just been digging around during a clear out and found my copy of the Warcry core rulebook. I remember picking it up on a whim shortly after it first released. Is it a game that's worth me putting some time into building up a couple of forces? Also, I assume this version of the game is now out of date? If so, what might I be missing out on by playing this version vs any newer edition? I don't care about being up to date in a GW sense because I mostly play historicals and alternative rules, just wondering if the book I own is worth taking for a spin basically.
>>98607470For Necromunda 2017 edition 1 crew box and bits from other kitsFor Necromunda 2026 edition 1 crew box + 1 champ/leader kit, and maybe the specialist kit.True WYSIWYG is impossible without extra bits, mostly 3d printed, or lots of knife work on existing bits. Because model carry 3 weapons. Holstered pistol/knife are easy. Long guns/melee is more difficult to find, hence 3d print/knife. 3 long weapons model also look ridiculous.New edition seem to steer toward 3x of the same long weapons to compensate for it being out of ammo after every single shots. So I think people gonna be a bit more forgiving accepting that the 1 plasmagun dude model is carrying 3 plasma guns. For list building it's free for all in N17, but Leader generally stay at safe range or don't even need weapons at all if they're using Overseer skill. Gonna need some long range fire (autogun, lasgun) for gangers. Champs gonna be the main beat stick, using expensive weapons and mesh armor. Juve will be the main pistol/close combat user, usually stick with weapons that give +1/2 to hit. Prospect varied depend on gang, but for Orlock specifically Wreckers are one of the most fun and best fighters they had.List building in Necromunda 2026 is unclear right now, seem like they want you to go toward force organisation like 40k list, which will gave your gang huge boost. The free list building options still exist, but without some nice boost like the force org it'll be sidelined or put into the meme/fun(or unfun because less rule) category. So there weren't really any advice, but the general rule for the new edition is that Medic is mandatory no matter what gang, leader also got a lot tougher and harder to kill so they can be more involved in combat without turning into a loot pinata.
>>98607470Doesn't need to be perfect WYSIWYG. How we tend to play is matching visual clues, E.g. if the model has a heavy weapon, you know it's a heavy weapon. Pistol and melee weapon, you know they're a melee guy. So you can build heavy stubbers and use it as whatever.Like the other anons have said, use each weapon once don't spam anything. A mix is more fun too. A gang box is fine to start.>>98607760Rules are pretty much the same, they just added reactions in.Warcrier has all the rules for free. Warcry is a great game, really simple to get into but has a lot of strategy. The card system for deployment, terrain, victory conditions and twist is brilliant. You can get some very unbranded game but they're very fun.IMO buy 2 warbands and play with a mate, try to rope in more mates too. I love it
>>98607760https://warcrier.net/ just use the rule from this site. Even if you don't want to read the new rule you would still need the unit rules to build up your warbands, which the site got more.
Has anyone played the new Necromunda rules? I'm still cautiously optimistic, feels like they've gotten rid of some of the flavour.
https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/m1i0gxqo/new-rules-for-house-goliath-gangs/Preview of the new Goliath rule, nothing to interesting for the 2 force org gangs, but +1 Wound for the prospect and Combat shotgun being gang equipment might become trending for Goliath.
>>98607811GW can afford to buy an ad here
I forgot to get the MTO Galadriel before it closed. It's so fucking over for me.
>>98608953>nothing to interestingThat's kind of a shame after they've thrown the previous edition's rules out the door. It just looks a little boring.
>>98603674>forgot the title award
>>98608549I enjoyed my first game. Fighters are way harder to shoot OOA and powerful guns run out of ammo way more frequently. You have big first turns followed by frantically trying to get your med/ammo specialists to do their jobs and get your guys back in the game. It's less rocket tag which is not to everyone's taste.
>>98609513I play cawdor so I am a little worried about the big flavour removal. Having one bonus ganger is sweet even though a ganger plus D3 juves was the tits. More of a slugfest sounds pretty alright to me. I'm guessing it's going to lean heavily into specialists like Kill Teams does to an extent.
>>98609513That sounds better to me actually. Good to know
>>98609599It's not 1 bonus ganger, it's 1 prospect, and prospect are forced to promote to ganger at 13xp, so your idea of a super prospect won't happen. To keep that rule active you need to constantly recruit more prospect to replace the promoted one, which at some point become counter intuitive.
KT, how's your experience fighting the Exodites team?
>>98609624That just sounds miserable and my optimism has been ruined somewhat. That just sounds like some real nasty barrier for a bonus whereas other gangs just get it for free without having to jump through hoops..
>>98609644They also had to pay the toll of "extra dude" by having really shit weapon list with only a few good choice (combi auto-flamer and crossbow) while redemptionist had all the good weapons.
>>98609660Is this for the current edition? I thought gangs could just take whatever they wanted now?
>>98609682R and C use different equipment lists. You also need a reserve of more than 1 prospect to account for prospect being drafted into the random pick scenario. Prospect can be useful using template weapons like Combat shotgun (buy from TP) and flamer. With the new rule allowing weapons to be discarded, you can have a stash of combat shotguns ready to be given to new recruits.Since Cawdor hasn't got their specialist and champ kits yet chance of them getting something useful is not zero. but since they also need to share release with Redemptionists, expect the weapon pool they get to be slashed in half. And also don't forget everyone's favorite "new" release from the new kits: old weapons that you already got from old kits.
>>98609753So a bunch of shit that cawdor doesn't want, man that just makes me sad and it already sounds really clunky and disappointing. I don't like how this is set up so far, but ah well.
