It's a bit early, but here's a thread discussing the second wave of Cosmere RPG books, this time covering the setting of the Mistborn novels. The digital release of the Kickstarter pdfs drops some time tomorrow, but there's already plenty of old and new leaks on the internet.I know there's at least one other person on /tg/ who plays this game, I see them requesting the same pdfs in the pdfshare thread.

>>98605551My group did try out the Stormlight game, though some of the members were more into those books. I think it's a solid enough system. The talent trees allow for some decent customization, and it's simple enough to get a grasp of. Probably not worth it unless at least some of the players are interested in the base lore of the setting though.
>>98605681>I really can't see potential of this project other than being a convoluted merch.There's certain people (myself included) who see Sanderson's complex magic systems, intentionally left with holes for theorycrafters to spend endless hours of debate on, who see this game as a vehicle to feed us nuggets of information while also serving as a functioning game. There's plenty of people who go to Sanderson book signings to have their questions answered, often receiving a RAFO (Read And Find Out) if Sanderson expects that the answer will be plot relevant in a future book.

Read the Stormlight rules the other day, there was some pretty neato-burrito stuff in there but I just personally couldn't care less about Stormlight, read the first two books way back in the day then lost interest and I haven't heard anything good about the rest of themI have fond memories of Mistborn and I'll probably check out this release eventually, but I doubt I would ever want to play in any Cosmere setting

Think like the other IP based TTRPGS like Star Trek, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Ninja Turtles, Power Ranger, etc
>>98605551It's a decent enough system and I've had a p.decent time running Stonewalkers, but I don't think it overall has strong enough bones to stand on its own without the support of Sanderson's fandom. The setting-agnostic release will die forgotten pretty fast.
I really don't know what possessed them to do single d20 resolution aside from aping D&D (at which point, presumably someone should have asked "can we really overtake D&D")
