Any ideas how to salvage this? I'm having to remove paint from all the joints as I go to be able to glue it together. Did a batch of 5 marines as my starting point and made beginner mistakes, going to try to salvage these and then just do one model at a time from now on

>>98607057hobby knife, scratch and scrape the fuck out of the joints so the glue has a rough surface to adhere to, then just glue it. you'd get better results with superglue but plastic should work too if you smooth out the surfaces enough. a hobby file or dremmel should be able to do it too if you have one, and it'll save your paint job
>>98607067Just to be candid one of the reasons I really slowed down was because all I had were bits, putting them together makes me feel like at least I've got some kind of finished product.>>98607077Yeah I just briefly went back to it and I was using the hobby clippers to create a flat surface of plastic where it will grip. I'm using the plastic glue to dissolve the paint in places too so I'm left with a plastic surface for gluing.
Yeah it came out ok. They're pretty shit but what can you expect from your first try really
>>98607209honestly pretty good, its a strong start just to have the paint where you want it. if it were me i'd get a slightly brighter green to layer over the pannels and do some highlights with, but for four colours and a base that's pretty good

I guess the problem I'm running into is that tron marines are pretty infamous and I'm not sure that's really the road I want to go down, just practicing some battle damage and details might be the way to do it. I'm also just thinking to slapchop some other miniatures I have just to get some miles on the clock, get some experience and then detail later.

You should at least use a wash. Black should be fine with a green as dark as that. Drybrush some lighter green if you're feeling frisky. If you say they're practice might as well try to push them.Also, for a subassembly, you can mask the glue points with a little bit of masking tape so you avoid scraping the color off later.
