All the new CSM infantry is about a head bigger than the old models. Terminators are the same size as their old models. For some reason they didn't fix the scale of terminators for CSM but did for every other model (including terminators for 30k and DG terminators)

The rhino has been 10 capacity because at the time it was used by everyone, including guardsmen and marines weren't that much bigger. They never updated it. with the impuslor, however, they made it to scale and as you can see the transport capacity is shown on the model by the seats with wall plugs.

Also the impuslor is not just a primaris rhino, it's also half razorback.

The boys datasheet is extremely powerful because boss Nob's are absurd and Marines haven't gotten their T5 good boy boost yet.

Against the overwhelming majority of infantry going from S4 to S5 doesn't do anything. It only affects space marines who are getting +1 Toughness next month anyway.

Except marines are also getting S5 on all their S4 shit so Boy durability will go down substantially and their damage output won't change at all.

We're back to the era of the 11 wound boss nob (12 now). He's just swapped out his claw for a big choppa.

I never said they were the size of primaris, I said they are bigger than the updated CSM terminators because for some reason those weren't made bigger than the old models so they look tiny and aren't representative of the new scale for non-primaris terminators. The new cataphractii is like a head taller than the 2019 CSM terminator. The super henchback pose every model has doesn't help either.

The only advantage S5 has over S4 currently is against space marines (And Votann but who cares).
We know, for a FACT. That space marines are getting +1 Strength and Toughness on everything in power armour except the shinlets. We can presume Terminator armour is going to T6 but thats not confirmed.
Meaning S5 is going to stop being a relevant buff over what S4 was last edition. Because we'll go from wounding marines on a 4+ last edition to wounding marines on a 4+ this edition.
The price of one month of orks wounding space marines on a 3+ is going to be three years of space marines wounding orks on a 4+.

Votann, Tyranids and Necrons.
It matters against Votann, Tyranids and necrons, All flavours of Eldar are T3, All baseline humans are T3 and now all marines are T5 so nothings changed there.

Necrons, Orks and Votann were the only T5 armies in the game and if we're honest with ourselves Votann should be T4. Tyranids I believe have more variance in the toughness of their infantry than any other army. Most factions have a default infantry statblock with 1 or 2 outliers. For most armies in the game S5 and S4 might as well be the same thing. S6 is the big infantry break point.
>>
>>98608235
>He's just swapped out his claw for a big choppa
Add shootas with lethal hits against infantry to that.
Add lethal hits on charge with all of those choppas to that.
Add a rokkit launcha and a big shoota and a skorcha to that, and make sure you remember that those models keep their choppas.
Also, the boss can keep his claw. He also gets a combi shoota now.

If you can't understand why 90 points is generously low then you're retarded anon

I didn't say boyz melee got worse, I said it was average melee. Wounding most infantry on a 3 or a 4 with AP-1 and 2~3 attacks per model is the bare minimum you want on a melee battleline. Anything less than that does not belong in melee.

No I don't, S6 on a basic battleline would be fucking disgusting. I'm just saying S5 is not a massive buff over S4 anymore because the marine statline has changed again and the entire game is balanced around that statline.

Intercessors hit 3 times at S5 in melee while actually being able to aim their guns. Not assault intercessors. Regular fucking intercessors.
The sarges Chainsword hits 5 times's. It wouldn't be unreasonable to assume assault intercessors will hit 4 times each with the same profile while packing a 3+.
The game has changed. Everyone without a codex is gonna suffer but once your codex does arrive I promise you the statbloat is going to get silly.

There is still quite a bit of t4 in the game, but yea, all it really does is keep them up to date with marine power creep. 5 is the new 4 in the T/S world. 4 is competent, and 3 is shit. Because 20 boyz was a different unit than 10, anon. They very much benefitted from reaching a critical mass where more of them simply crossed a threshold where some enemies couldn't handle them, and any buffs (such as warboss +1 to hit and painboy 5+ fnp) were better applied to larger units.
The codex actually changes this up a bit, where leader buffs aren't as readily available to boyz (no more fnp, leaders don't give out +1 to hit, need a support for that, and so on) and the general increase in their points means it gets harder to hit the critical mass necessary and still maintain the rest of the army. At least, that's what I assume the thinking is.

Ints also have a D2 gun with heavy, gain plus one to hit with everything when attacking or defending an objective and have an actual armour save. They'll cope.
In a white room simulation an intact squad of boys are an efficient threat, it also never happens outside of a transport assault so you'd need to add the cost of a trukk to their statline, which almost doubles their price.
Boyz relied on their Toughness to keep them alive in 10th. Since Marines where S4 the infantry metagame was balanced around killing S4. This meant having 4< toughness gave you some resistance against small arms which was important because their save is ass.
The boyz didn't get any tougher in 11th, tho nobs did get an extra wound. However Marines are T5 now, the new infantry metagame will revolve around killing T5, meaning in real terms boyz will be more fragile once other people get their dex.
This should have been an index edition. Fuck every edition should be an index edition.

Anon I don't think you understand what 90 points is being compared to. The Boyz datasheet used to be 80 points for 10. Let's see what changed.
>melee weapons
The choppas are relatively the same, and the nob is much better.
However, all of these attacks get lethal hits when they charge, which is a massive buff.
>Ranged
Massive buffs across the board. Previously you had sluggas, and that's it.
Now, you have shootas with extra range, extra shots, lethal hits against infantry on all of your models.
Additionally, you can take 3 heavy weapons (previously limited to 1).
Keep in mind that to get ANY ranged beyond sluggas, you threw away your choppas.

You're arguing that a datasheet that got better in every conceivable way should be either the same points or maybe even lower points. You're fundamentally retarded anon.
>>
>>98608569
What's so complicated about ppm that they refuse to bring them back? Everyone that plays the game has to know how to do basic additon and multiplication anyways.
>>
>>98608579
To me it seems like they're trying to normalize things, like having squads fit what the box has to a T. It simplifies things big time but makes it look really fucking stupid.
>>
>>98608579
Playing devil's advocate but strategems are more powerful on bigger units.
This edition is very light on actions and in general there's much less incentive to go msu.
>>
>>98608582
But why would you even do that? Make the minimum size what's on the box sure, but if I get a second box and I want to use 2 models instead of 3 why the fuck should I not be able to?

Spending 1cp to buff 20 9-point dudes is more value than buffing 10 9 point dudes, changing the prices based on unit size helps offset that
>>
>>98608579
Point per models gives more freedom to hobbyists and customers.

You can convert one dude into a character and still field the remaining models by just discounting the points of that one dude, or you can buy second hand someone's spare 5 dudes to add to your unit for cheap.

Instead now, even if by a tiny bit, people have a disadvantage if their unit is understrength and the resale value of incomplete units is destroyed.

You can still get around all this with base fillers and such, but the above being the norm makes any concept of flexibility a completely alien mentality to the average modern gw customer.
>>
>>98608600
isnt it just the boss nobs that get 40s? I think Im just going to use old warbosses for it.
>>
>>98608569

>>
>>98608604
Anon that's how ppm worked already. You had a base cost for the minimum unit and models after that could have a bigger ppm cost. Say you got a tac squad for 100 points and every extra marine would be 25 points instead of 20.
>>
>>98608606
I'll have to have a look again but from seeing the new nobz models it looked it they were all on large bases, which makes sense for 3W each

>>
>>98608573
NTA, but boyz actually lost some crucial things. First is the extra attack from Waaagh, which means across a whole unit you're doing 20 less attacks. Which is A LOT. Second is they no longer (afaik) have a way to access crits on 5s, which they used to be able to get, and that greatly diminishes the value of their sus/lethals. Third, they can't get a fnp any more, which is a huge deal for their survivability. The difference between just a 5++ and a 5++ plus 5+ fnp is gigantic.
The datasheet doesn't just exist in a vacuum. I do think a points increase was reasonable (and feel 90 per 10 is a pretty good spot for them) but there are very legitimate reaons to claim they shouldn't have gone up, or gone up less.

I'm paying 9 points per model for 9 retards who die to bolters and a Nob who kills shit. Outside of a wagon or a trukk the new boyz die to bolters almost as hard as they did in 5th edition. We are back to the hidden power klaw.
Free shootas is fun but you'll never roll to wound because you're always gonna be hitting on 6's. They're genuinely meme weapons.

The specials are good if they hit but again, 6's. The skorcha is great tho because torrent means I get to ignore Ork ballistic skill, they're auto take on every squad and will be the second to last man to die.

Actually I'm coming back to this because you're seriously overrating shootas.
A mob of 20 boy's is gonna have 12 shootas in it, the rest is gonna be nobs and special weapons.
In ideal conditions (At half range, shooting a squad of MEQ's out of cover) those 12 shoota boyz are gonna kill a single intercessor.
A. Single. Intercessor.
They're meme guns, have always been meme guns and always will be meme guns. The orks now no longer have to choose between their meme guns and their actual job of killing shit in melee. THAT DOES NOT MEAN SHOOTAS ARE USEFUL.

>>

>>
>>98608687
Adding +16 points per model instead of 160 points for 10 models doesn't make lists harder to build or models to collect, quite the opposite. These are insane arguments uttered by absolutely no one for 35 years before 10th.
>>
>>98608696
Sure anon, they're meme guns that kill 1 intercessor. Now you can roll your 7 special weapons and then charge and kill the rest in melee. Previously, you would be shooting only sluggas at the intercessors, killing 0, and then charging. Or maybe you could shoot worse shootas and 1 special weapon, netting you maybe 1 model kill, and then you wouldn't charge at all.
My point is that the unit is overall much better and thus the points increases are justified. Shootas are allowed to be meme guns considering Orks still have other better weapons and melee on top of that.

They're a little complicated to play because mistakes are punished harshly, almost everything is made out of wet paper and they're reliant on a combined arms approach of killing opponents by a thousand cuts. But as a beginner army they're better than people give them credit for, the range is entirely modern plastic, the basic infantry and vehicle kits are absolutely stuffed with bits for kitbashing (and they're compatible with all other GW human kits, like all the necromunda gangs) and the characters all brim with personality and fun details. They aren't the best beginner faction, but I'd say they're pretty rewarding and can teach you a lot about the hobby you won't learn with something like marines.

>>
>>98608724
It does create weird list building situations and ending up with "unusable" spare models because the optimal thing to do is add like three spare bodies to the Sisters Retributor squad to give them some ablative wounds against stray fire.
>>
>>98608744
Your damage?
>>
>>98608711
Its only like, 0.3 more wounds than asaault intercessors will do with heavy bolt pistols at 9".
But heavy bolt pistols are 18" range so their effecive range is equal to a shootas max range. In a max range firefight assault intercessors will genuinely do more damage than the shootas in a boyz squad.
Of course boys have special weapons which flips the math further in their favor, the rokkits plus double kombi rokkit will kill another intercessor and the skorcha's plus big shoota together will kill a third. Its good shooting for a melee unit.
But shootas are still a meme. Two things can be true.
And of course cover massively slashes the effectiveness of Boy shooting because >BS5+

It would work. You would want to play an objective orientated disposition like take&hold or priority assets, or one that focuses on mobility like recon. But you could very easily field an army that is entirely in transports, and people have been doing it forever. I did it with guard+sisters as long ago as 4th edition.

Just be careful since transports exploding inflict mortal wounds on the people inside.

At the end of the day anon choose an army you'll like the look of as you'll be spending countless hours building and painting. Sisters desu if you get the celestian insidiant KT that will have almost all the surfaces on other sister models (exclu. vehicles). Turn it into a codex: allies where it contains units for a bunch of different factions and not just imperium. Then introduce proper rules for bringing those allies in their respective armies.
>>
>>98609005
Roll them into the different imperium codecies with rules as allied units for specific factions.
>Admech can't take sisters or GK
>GK must have an inquisitor in the list to be included in guard
> Custodes only have access to the inquisitor units (old KTs)
>Knights and agents are more easily mixed.
>DW are rolled into codex compliant SM
Or something like this. There's no reason GK should be taken in a guard list. Sisters and Admech worship different deities so they'd probably hate each other. Custodes should only NEED assassins. Give them a way to be uniquely sprinkled as a flavor of unit in the other imperium armies. would also cut down on bloat.

For flavour you could throw in some more out there bodyguard units for Inquisitors like Demonhosts or Xenos.

How far we've come from kino like this
>>
>>98608623

I play Elves so this is just my perspective.
Regular shurikens will be worse off, S4/-1/1, so pretty much all the battleline infantry is considerably worse. Guardians and Dire Avengers.
Corsairs are now also considerably worse because their power swords are S4/-2/1 without any special rules.
Scatter Lasers (S5/0/1) got marginally worse at wounding but they also got more efficient when they do since Marines are presumably going to be more expensive. Windriders and Shroud Runners are kinda cooked though because of S5 bolters now wounding them on 3s.

Everything else I think gets better actually, simply by just being more efficient (hopefully) into Marines. The rest of the army has lots of access to S6-S10 weaponry, or get more efficient like Banshees who have anti-infantry 3/-3/2d weapons. The light vehicles have great shooting too but many of them now get wounded easier thanks to S5 bolters. Vyper chassis gets wounded in 4s now with the S6 shots, Fire Prisms get wounded on 5s now with just regular S5 bolter fire. So it's a bit of a wash.

None of which are as good as critting on 5s and a 5+ fnp. You can definitely pump boyz to the gills with extra rules, and this is cool and thematic I think, but I don't think you can actually get them as tanky or offensively powerful as they used to be.
Like, if you'd compare a fully powered boyz unit pre-codex with one post-codex, I have little doubt the pre-codex one will do more damage into any target (though both units probably kill most things they hit). There's also surprisingly little defensive support in terms of stratagems. You can get grot shields which is an extremely powerful defensive tool, but boyz are probably THE worst user of it, since the weapons that kill them will be D1 and mow through the grot unit very efficiently (rather than something like Ghaz who gets lascannons and meltas aimed at him where the grot shields are supremely effective). You can ressurect and reactive move and do some tricks, but there is less raw power available to them.
>>
>>98609115
>>98609097
I just see that model having the same problem that suppressors did. They were on a sprue with other units, no kit of their own and they just aren't distinct enough to justify a datasheet of their own.

I also worry about the apothecary biologis for the same reason, but it's a new model- it will last a while.

My first army back in 4th edition was the guard+sisters+inquisition soup army. It was a lot of fun. Agents doesn't quite give the same feel, so i would start by having actual ally rules instead of the current system of just 1-3 units. Make it armies can be half and half again, or even thirds.

Rules for customizing your inquisitor. I recall back in the day selecting psychic powers and lots of wargear options. Make your choice of Ordo matter too. Basically just add a ton of flavor and customization, which are two things that should be added more of everywhere for every faction. I remember having a bunch of weird retinue models too, some of which you can see in this image.

I got the new Greyfax model and I love her so I include her in some lists but give me an excuse to break out my old Ordo Malleus guy here. I have Karamazov around here somewhere too.

They could start by giving them more than a couple detachment options. As I've said many times, it's outright insane but also completely unnecessary to have some factions with like 2 good detachments while marines are swimming in 23 detachment options, most of which are good, and that's before adding in the codex noncompliant chapters.

The option to pay points for characteristics like WE and LD would be cool, build an inquisitor like you're building an rpg character.

They do have a lot of old pre-fall tech, and I wouldn't be surprised if they had titanic stuff. The problem for them is that all pre-fall Eldar tech requires psychic input, which goes agaisnt probably one of the only actual rules in the Dark City, no psychic allowed.

I also like to imagine Cabals would never redeploy their heavy assets away lest another Cabal seizes the opportunity to destroy a rival. Like nukes today. Necessary to have but never used.

Bruh. Those are fine. If you want to glowup the units I'd do like a yellow/orange or even a yellow-green wash on the exposed brain, maybe a similar color wash on the expose muscles/alien parts. Would add some nice alien looking contrast imo. I actually like the glossy look, makes them even more alien. If you want, just take some matte/satin varnish to some spots so it's not all shiny, and then the gloss will pop out nicely. That's just my opinion.

The old rules allowed you to add a synaptic leader gaunt to your broods to help them go further out alone, and it would make sense if small groups of neuorgaunts could act as that specialist for gaunt swarms, but then they're also the most disposable of them all and even a bodyguard unit instead of a buffer for synaptic creatures?

>Updating the perfect plastics
holy fucking retard, the issue is that half the fucking Deldar range was resin that all got squatted without any replacements.
The 'perfect 5e ' kits are mostly gone. There are only 9 5e plastic kits left (Kabs, Scourges, Hellions, Wyches, Reavers, Venoms, Raider+Ravager kit, Cronos/Talos kit, Razorwing), compared to 10 kits that got squatted. If the entire 5e range was available, nobody would complain. The issue is that the army first lost about half of the range when chapterhouse nuked it (since the range relied on kitbashing), then they lost another third of the range to resin going away.
If the entire 5e range was available it'd be fine, the whining is because the dark eldar codex is quite literally smaller than it was during 3e

after studying the mating patterns of women IRL my conclusion is that their ultimate sexual fantasy is to be chopped up and devoured

That's probably coming with the new codex desu there's almost nothing else for GW to update for nids.

>my mega and meka dread and the kannon wagon are glorified paperweights according to GW
>but the lifts a wagon, mekboy workshop, and big trakk get to have legends rules.

Not sure if I should be pissed at how half assed this culling was or laugh that some fucker thought a terrain piece and two bad hyper specialized vehicles where more worth keeping then the two coolest ork walkers and a second side variant of the battle wagon.

>razorback was a proper fire support afv that could have a fire support role or support its dismounts
>Impulsor is just a technical hodgepodge with mistmatched guns
>and it's all we got now

Agreed, I have cheap Amazon Chinese brushes and beat the hell out of the and they still get the job done.

Is that like, an unreasonable fantasy to have?
Also this is the 40k general my dude
I like tyranids and stuff
>>

>all got squatted without any replacements.
it's 3 units and one character, that's a small release wave
>>

How does one judge the quality of brushes? I got some brushes from the warhamer store, because I'm autistic and only warhammer supplies can be used on warhammer minis, are those bad? I put some nicpro brushes on my wishlist when I was thinking about getting into Warmachine, how are those?
>>
>>98610039
based, you gonna strip them or are you going to keep them as is?

Carnifex and the hive tyrant could really use a new model, but i get your point.

>The bigger crime is what they did to assault cannons, replacing them with generic fucking miniguns.
This, the assault cannon was a perfect blend of modern high-tech and anachronistic visual design, like if some crazy person decided to try and upgrade a gatling gun with modern minigun technology.

>Is that like, an unreasonable fantasy to have?
considering that most women now are hambeasts with awful tattoos, a triple-digit body count and six-figure college debt, yes. this is on-topic because the world we live in is grimdarker than the 40k setting.

>Predator Annihilator was a tank-killer that could hold its own
>Predator Destructor was a battle tank that could chew through marines but also contest enemy armor
>Gladiator Lancer has 1 lascannon that is just objectively better than the Annihilator, but it has heavy and doesn't have as good of sponson guns
>Gladiator Reaper is just a LR Punisher with another gatling gun that can float with bolter sponsons
>Gladiator Valiant fills the Destructor's main gun role, but its sponsons are multi-meltas which don't suit a the role the main gun has
GW either isn't considering what roles each vehicle fills, or they're trying to take versaility and certain utilities away from certain factions.

>I'm autistic and only warhammer supplies can be used on warhammer minis
the general consensus is that GW brand shit is overpriced and of middling quality, anons sold me on vallejo paints as a cheaper, more reliable alternative
>>
>>98610056
no lol men want the exact same thing except with a big titty goth girl instead of a 6ft 5in vampire

>>98610109
the difference is that I am entitled to it

Court and beastmaster are only listed as one kit because they got pushed up into a single kit so they could be executed. They were historically counted seperately.
There's also Urien, the Reaper, grotesques and the Tantalus

>>98610091
Amen

Its a fantasy anon (much like warhammer fantasy I might add)
Men fantasize about fucking a harem of beautiful exotic women despite being 5’7” and skinnyfat with skin problems
So what?
Also primaris are notable much larger than firstborn
>>
>>98610123
I too remember running a 35 point Lhamean as my Warlord because all the other character options were such shit and she was cheap.
>>
>>98610075
I took scissors to my starter brush since it had a pilot hair and ended up giving it a flat top haircut, the two small layer brushes I got instantly split apart during painting. GW tools are overpriced and really really bad except for the artificer brush which is just overpriced and I think the silly handle for priming squads
I still own mostly citadel paint though and I'm using two vallejo brushes that sadly are getting a hook tip despite me using brush goop every session

>nob warbikers are just warbikers now

Well now I rather wish they'd let warbikers take two nobs.
>>
>>98610102
NTA, but I think it’s just outright bad/lack of game design knowledge.
Marines were 100% a bloated force and still are the bulk of what they are losing doesn’t really have a good replacement for its role. Even as fucking stupid as the bunker and the centurions are they are kind of the only thing in the marine range that did what they did.
Marines had a lot of units nobody was using because they had another five units already doing that thing and bloating roles, but they culled units that mostly had their own lanes to stay in.
They either genuinely think ranges struggling to fulfill certain basic gameplay functions is a good idea or they can’t see why that’s a bad idea because a lot of factions struggle to do basic things and a lot of armies all struggle to do the same things. Bad choice for Anti tank anti monster is a common issue with a lot of factions that also regularly fucks their functionality for example.
>>
>>98610123
>counting FW shit
no, it's 3 kits and one character, beasts+master, court, grotesques, and rakhart
it's not half the range, it's not most of the range, the range hasn't been neglected because they still got kit updates via kill team and characters
their larger release wave is already essentially confirmed, so what are you even whining about?
