I think most of the best black library authors are "above mediocre average" at best if that makes sense. You have to have Warhammer 40k context to understand what is going on. I think the best LucasBooks writers for Star Wars EU were good writers and the best books are genuinely good even without Star Wars context.
Maybe they had more incentive to knock the ball out of the park than the writers for Warhammer 40k/Warhammer Aos/Warhammer Fantasy books as they just do it for a paycheck knowing they'll get their pay, keep their roof and food and be able to go back to working on what they really want to.

I don't see much similarity in Arch looking like Phil. I don't mind his content. I probably won't like his views, but he has every right to express them as I have the right to disagree. I respect that he seems to own the Horus Heresy books he could sell for a fat payday unless GW does a made to order on those.

What I do find funny about Arch is how rent free he is among "those ones" in the Warhammer following. You know who I'm talking about.

Except the only book I read was Legend of Sigmar Omnibus and I didn't like it and some actual misspellings at the end left a sour taste in my mouth.
I didn't get through Gaunt's Ghosts. Should have.
The books and codexes are really just sources of inspiration for "lore precedent" if I'm being honest to take and use for one's dudes. That's about it from my perspective.
