>>98635242>TQCanonically its that slut from Tilea right? The one who poisons all her husbands?
>>98632865Hello anon, this is my problem with it.Left is an historically inspired poleyn. I've drawn the rivets as well, to show how the central piece connects to the two extra pieces (lames which overlap in this position, but are exposed more when the knee is bent and protect the leg) and how the lames are connected to the thigh armour and shin armour. There's a coherent way the armour pieces are attached and the armour has articulation to cover the body even when the knee bends.Right is basically what the bretonnian lady has. It's a knee pad sandwhiched between the upper and lower leg armour plates. I'll be kind and assume this kneepad is connected to flexible pants she's wearing, because there's no real way for the knee armour to connect to the thigh and shin armour. Attaching metal armour to fabric or leather is a last resort, because in practice it would eventually break off.But mostly the issue is that when the knee is bent there will be big gaps between either the kneepad and thigh or kneepad or shin armour. That's because this is genuinely a kneepad, not a piece of armour. It's for protecting your kneecap from getting bruised by the ground when kneeling down giving blowjobs or rollerskating in hotpants, not for preventing a weapon damaging your body. The artist has used modern sporting equipment as a reference for this medieval armour instead of referring to medieval armour.I should have capitalised "WoW" to make it clearer I was referring to the MMO, but I think this sort of ineffective, modern armour 'design' is common in lots of game media but Warhammer Fantasy has long been atypical because of it's clear historical inspirations, and thus more functional armour design, for the human factions.
>>98635304The bigger problem is she's wearing green, which is gaudy and disrespectful and poor.
how do we make bretonia more interesting?
>>98635304So true. The dumbest part is that if a bladed weapon strikes the rounded kneepad it would slide/deflect down into the open space between the leg armor and the kneepad, cutting directly into the leg, whereas the historical example deflects the blow away from the weak joint into the heavy plated leg. You're correct in that the modern fantasy artist doesn't take inspiration from history and myth like the founders of fantasy did in the 50, 60s, 70, and 80s and instead they take inspiration from "fantasy" itself, but they lack the cultural and historical understanding that went into it to begin with.In essence it has become like the telephone game ~ where the message keeps getting further and further from the original every time it's repeated, and eventually it becomes unrecognizable. Now the next generation of Warhammer artists won't look at Gothic armor as an example, they look at that shitty art work and it's the new baseline.
>>98635322Well you see, you already know the answer. Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean it isn't true.
>>98635329>you already know the answermore female knights?

>>98635345you just told me I was right
>>98635347Only way to be right around here is to Post Models.

>>98633527>TK are invading Athel Loren there using that as an excuse to do a TK vs WE bookWhich is a bit weird imo. I mean, if they have beef with the WElves why go where they're hardest to get, instead of the BPs?And what path would they take to get to Athel Lorien?
>>98635386how they get there was in a previous jorunalbasically they're on the way to fuck bretonnia up when a hierophant suffers some setback, sees the nearby magical forest and thinks he can get some magical boon from it to replenish or invigorate the armyor something
>Averland is the Empire's county of drunkards>Bordeleaux is Bretonnia's dukedom of drunkardsWhich is Cathay's province of drunkards?

>>98635465no, soulfull. most soulfull human faction, to be precise.
I only really like playing narrative scenarios rather than competitive matched play. What are the best narrative supplements GW has ever released for WHFB that I can use for inspiration?
Is there a shark themed knight order? Like one dedicated to Stromfels or Manann.
>Look for Fimir models on Vinted>Results are mostly scantily clad womenWhat did Etsy mean by this
>>98635595There are knightly orders dedicated to Manann. No such thing for Stromfels unless you make one up yourself. The middle ground would be to take something like the Knights Mariner and say that one of their chapters has been infiltrated by Stromfels cultists.
>>98635595There is a Manaan knightly order. Knights Mariner and I believe the Sons of Manaan. As for Stromfels there is no known order. Its illegal to worship him, the only place you can do it openly is in Sartosa. That shouldnt stop you from making pirate knights though.
>>98635595There are no named knightly orders of Stromfels, however basically every God does have a knightly order dedicated to them and I don't see why Stromfels would be an exception.>>98635628>Its illegal to worship himTbf in the current Old World timeline where the empire's split into hundreds of independent principalities there's almost certainly at least a couple on the coast that have legalised worshipping him.
>>98635642Sure, you could easily headcanon there being some sort of legalized local Stromfels worship. But if I were doing knights of Stromfels I'd set them up in Sartosa or Tilea. And if I had infinite money I'd convert them up with loads of scrimshaw and sharkjaws inlaid in their armour. They'd look sick.
>>98635642Wonder what a Knightly order of Khaine would look like, since he is a God of War, but to human society he is mostly a God of Murder
>>98635666Very Elven.
>>98635666I don't think the cult of khaine is openly allowed
What are you working on?My renegade crowns army is expanding a bit, I am making some duellist looking fellas inspired by the Vespero's Vendetta unit
>>98635322They are already perfect. The settings most noble, mystical heroes also happen to be brutal feudal lords. It's amazing.
>>98635710Forgot pic coz tarded
>>98635714That looks sick anon, what is that putty?
>>98635707it could a be a secret cult similar to that Ulric order that all fell to Khorne
>>98635723Ok, but then they wouldn't look khainite much if at all.
>>98635725You could make it work make them have a scorpion motif, red and black armour ect it's more of a lore thing than anything else
>>98635735>yes, we're bedecked in scorpion tails, hooked knives, bloody hearts and khaine iconography >but we're... um... solkans, yes, with a side of morr, you see, it's a stirland expression, downstate klam
>>98635763That just sounds like the Ash Scorpians from 40kIsn't Solkan also a proscribed god as well?
>>98635721Tamiya quicktype
>>98635766I don't think so, I think it's just that the followers of law gods are seen as nutjobs by normal men, even more so than anyone who's a diehard follower of any of the classical/old gods
How would you adapt the mournghoul rules from the monstrous arcanum to TOW? I usually play older editions but got a friend that likes the model and wants to try the new rules
Ending the setting was legitimately the best thing that could have happened to Warhammer. TOW is going to tarnish it with introducing blander and blander models and fluff.
>>98635807post your miniatures
>>98635807(You)
>>98635780the preyton is also a similarly statted beast from that book and it's almost unchanged in tow, just buffed by including its potential upgrades already into the profile without the extra costso for the ghul I would use the rules from monstrous arcanum as they are, including the point cost, but I'd make it a monstrous creature instead of a true monster (no stomps), buff its attack profile to 5 instead of 4 so it integrates the chomp rule it had. instead of keeping the obstacles-strider thing I'd make it fly(6), because it's cool to imagine it vaulting over units or crawling up towers as well, and for the change of how weapons and armour penetration works I'd make his weapon different from a normal hand weapon and give it ap-2 to keep it consistent with how things used to work.instead of the killing blow on one attack I'd extend it to all attacks.rare choice 0-1 per 1000pts.the problem then is that it's still a fucking abysmal thing, weak as shit and overpriced as hell compared to a tomb scorpion for example to make it scarier I'd replace its own ranged ward save for a fixed 5+ ward save that also works in melee, give it the ethereal special rule when it comes to its movement (if it doesn't use the fly rule) and only to attacks that come more than 12" away.lastly, for that extra punch I'd make it that one of his attacks has the monster slayer rule.if it keeps underperforming or causing issues for army building, I'd drop its cost to 250 or 225
>>98635807>Ending the setting for Age of Smegma slop for their nuNorse Mythology "le realms" diarrhea, because the creator couldn't find legitimate reasons why a Lizardman army would fight a Vampire Counts army.Kill yourself. End Times could have been simply a scenario, but they could have established more of the Warhammer world and expanded upon it like CA did, or go back and touch up the old eras like TOW. What we got as a result with AoS is pure trash.
>>98635912because GW*
>>98635807>tarnishing the setting is the best thing that could have happened to it because the alternative was tarnishing ityeah, no, the end times is still shit even with many options available
>>98635912It seems you're carrying a lot of anger in your heart. You shouldn't do that. It's not good for you. Try to be more chill. Try to be more zen.
>>98635710Close to finishing my Cygor, not a lot of things left to paint on it. Once this is done I will start assembling some Dragon Ogres
There aren’t really many armies that interest me, I think if renegade crowns gets some actual support in the future I might actually start *something*, but as it stands I think I would never want to own more than 1000 points for any army, both official and legacy.
>Buddy asks if I'll bring Brets or Beastmen>I say beastmen>"ahh then I'll use x and y units">kind of want to bring Brets now>>98635961Very cool beastybro. I liked the head so much I used it for my Ghorgon.
>>98636093for all the shit AoS gets here I really love the night gobbo army
>>98636139Well it's 95% wfb anyway, so sure
>>98636093Beastmen have enough variety that you can massively change a list to counter his counter. Its if he counters your counter of his counter that you'll need to counter that.Whats he going to play?
Question for the ratbros. Are aos rat ogres usable in 8th edition? How reposable are they? I'm planning on getting 6 but I don't want them to look exactly the same
>>98636234They have weapon options I think.
>>98636234They're pretty large and have dynamic poses, you can make it work but you have to orient them carefully. They also don't mix too well with the old ones within the same unit due to the style being a bit different.
>>98636185Heavy infantry, flames, organs, helicopters.I am limited by only wanting to field models I have painted. It will be fine, the gods will favour me for my savage bravery.
>>98635710Waiting for payday so I can buy some ogres
I used a new spray primer and it came out all gunky and weird. Now I have weird gunky models. Stupid can even spat a bit on my shoes.
>>98636521You can just strip them anon
>>98636093Thanks beastbro, it’s a nice model, the only thing I hate is painting all the ropes holding the skulls and trophies together
>>98636093>>kind of want to bring Brets nowDo it, pull a fast on on him. Those are some cool Beasts, man.
>>98635421Thanks!>>98635451Lots of trial and error. TLDR: basecoat pro acryl ivory, then basecoat warpaints fanatic daemonic yellow & stabilizer medium 1:1, 3+ coats. The daemonic yellow is nice and bright, but it's so translucent that the undercoat on the model shows through no matter how many coats of yellow you apply. So my initial coats of yellow over the nurgling green overspray made it look sickly, and my first attempt to fix it with a pure white undercoat made the yellow look cold, especially on the raised edges which never get full yellow coverage even after multiple coats. Undercoating in a warm off-white was the solution. PA ivory is nice to work with and covers really well. I used stabilizer medium with the yellow because apparently water can make the fanatic paints behave weird. Made it really easy to apply the yellow, can recommend.
>>98636671Nta but have you tried painting yellow on a pink base coat? I've found that it works pretty well for me. I've been painting a lot of vallejo moon yellow on squid pink recently and I've rarelly had to worry about multiple layers.
>>98635619iykyk
>>98635595Bretonnian knights from Bordeleaux sometimes worship manaan
>>98635642Stromfels is evil, he is the only non-chaos non-shamanic god worshiped in norsca because he is the god of evil oceans and sharks, that's why he doesn't have knights.
>>98636749>non-shamanic godWhat do you mean by this?
>>98636762norscans also have nature spirits and shit, it's just a lot of them turn out to be daemons masquerading as spirits and gods. And there's that one 'daemon god' at the bottom of the sea too.
>>98635642You know, this begs the question:Does Handrich have an order of templars?
>>98636792But they do worship some of the more normal old-world gods, like Ulric, Taal(and presumably Rhya with him), and Mannan. That section that mentions the Demon god of the Sea of Claws also mentions Mannan being worshipped by them
>>98636804I kinda doubt it, since the cult is all about trade and monetary gain, so they would probably fall follow the logic of the other pacifist gods like Shallya and Renald in not having Knightly orders
>>98636835>>98636804Never mind, they do have one called Defenders of Capital, who basically seem like glorified caravan guard mercenaries who also make sure people act fairly in trade(for a price).
Is the WoC battle march box worth it? I want to try battle march but with a new army and the WoC box with the updated kits has caught my eye
>>98636965Yes it's a very good deal.
>>98636965>that one shitty sorcerer model just to fuck you overStill worth it though probably
>>98636965>>98636983Also to expand, if you like Marauders, try to find the marauder reinforcement set to expand on that if you enjoy the game. Marauders are very very good now alogn with their cav.
>>98636965everything minus the warriors are good.
>>98636983>>98636986>>98636988Thanks anons, really the only thing giving me pause was the old sorcerer which looks especially outdated now (must have a shitload of unsold models) but I suppose he's easily swapped out
>>98637002The box isnt really much of a discount if you dont want the character btw. you're better off just buying the non shrinkflated bits of the kits instead of getting that box.

>>98635549They aren't a human faction.
>>98635326I did some art for WotC long time ago and all of this is true. Some artists are history freaks with 999999 history refs and books others learn from games or other secondary sources (which is would not be bad if it was a good games/sources, and mostly they are not). Im not too young, my first inspiration was art from 70th and 80th which my dad has in albums and books. In modern days, it is all at first depends on art director who would tell you what and how to do. WotC had almost NO quality control around 2014 for example. If I was an art director obviously I`d read all of the lore and related stuff for days before autisticly police everything. No idea about GW. It is very about the artist and art director as a humans and they human expirience, sadly. -Sorry my English is far from perfect.
>>98637282Not him but do you take commissions friend?
>>98637282>Some artists are history freaks with 999999 history refs and booksWhat's the most common reference point and books they use?
>>98637017It still is quite the discount, you can easily do the math
>>98637282>I did some art for WotC long time agoFor MtG or DnD?
>>98637282Considering the original art we're talking about is from TOWRPG i don't think GW has much control over the quality control of the art outside of very braod editorial oneLooking at the credits for TOWRPG, it seems the art director for the books was Zsombor Sváb who doesn't have many credits himself
>>98637345Is it? if you're throwing away the character there isnt a discount, but you arent paying more either for the box. At least I think off the top of my head, I dont remember if the maraduers cost more or less with its own standalone kit.
>>98637337I dont know a specific books, personally just have a materials about history stuff. I just would research if I dont have a clear answer about specific armor or other things. Now you can easy found any material, before it was hard. I had some books irl like exotic weapons, asian weapons (with lot of atistic peasant weapons) etc, and barrow some from my friend collection because he had a lot them. Mainly when you do art you should ask yourself about how exactly things are made, from what materials, by who. Imagine a whole chain of making and a culture behind it even if it is very vague. A main question for me is a "why". Why exactly this spikes for example, why exactly this or that weapon of choice have this or that form (maybe a Chaos Champion want to be more brutal or he was a butcher before, for example, so he would ask to create a more brutal weapon with a specific "dumb" design). I belive that if it is logical and clear for a characters you can can do some little mistakes and (almost) no one would care>>98637350DnD Monster manuals. We had a good artist with a main designs, then they are passed to us and not even all of them. Some should be done from scratch with a vague references. Control was very bad. And then a book of some demons with almost no control. And for example, CA had a great art directors for they WarhammerTW. I read about how they are control all of the art process, they did many fixes for a Forest dragon for example and pass him from one artist to another and then come up with a final form. This is rare for today`s terrible standarts
>>98637388You're essentially getting the character + half a normal box for free.
Since the more uniformity in Chaos Warriors fluff where everyone and their dog has a ritual to adorn their armour like space marines, I am looking towards another army instead of the tin cans: Beastmen. How fun are they and how hard hitting? I was thinking of having a big cow as my leader.
Converting up a Nurgle Lord. Do I give him a banner as an exalted champ, or make him a straight up punchy lord?
>>98637520>Big cow as a leaderBased and sexually appetising
>>98637545Punchy lord. A waste to put a banner on him. He is begging to spread the plague.
>>98637545His torso is too clean for a chaos lord. I would scratch off all the detail on his torso and grenn stuff some exposed necro flesh
Empire of man having flagellants as core when
>>98637520You can and should ignore fluff you don't like. Everything beyond the 3rd ed RoC books doesn't exist, if you ask me, though maybe some tolerance can be forgiven for 5th and 6th ed chaos fluff.
>>98637584Sure but I am a nerd and part of that is autistic obsessions over certain details. Just like the beastmen, I too which to rebel on turning chaos into some kind of structured thing. I want to scavenge armour and weapons, moulded by the gods, not some bloody smithy one stop shop for 50% discount chaos armour or daemon weapons.
>>98637337nta but if I want armor obessessed artists to commission I go to slavs, which may correlate with their obsession with HEMA and HEMA-related events. I mean you should know this already by where most of the warhammer fan-art comes from, sci-fi or fantasy.
>>98637545Looks sick, definitely a punchy lord. He's too cool to be a banner bearer
>>98637676Hell yeah, love the rust rot seeping from his mouth.
My Dwarfs are best bros with my Lizardmen. The Skink High Priest is proper Dawr. according to the general consensus of the Thane and his hold. I know this is probably bad OC donut steel, but I love the fluff and comradery that has grown between them over the years of owning and playing both armies.
>>98637690Meanwhile my goblin army has been pillaging my empire army's lands and has human slaves and severed heads painted in their colours. But yeah I agree it's fun to have a developing story for your armies as if they're part of the same living world.
>>98637687Forget some insects because Nurgle loves company
>>98637545Can he turn his head?
