which faction lets me use remotes the most? they seem really cute
>>98640724I think Nomads have the most cutesy robot helpers units, between stuff like Puppetactica or Taskmaster with Tinbots and CrazyKoalas. Helps that Nomads are also good at supporting remotes via hacking.
>>98640724Either Nomads or Aleph for the best synergies imo.
Pretty "big" question but how to properly prepare a list? I mean, when I checked various lists already posted and advices on them, it's clear that they are all designed as force where every member supports the other. But what about situation when you have guy A for X, guy B for Y and so on but they cannot do their job for whatever reason? I heard this "always have backup plans" but this clashes with previous statement about supporting each other - if I have defensive group to protect Lt and provide orders, 1-2 attackers, doctor, engineer, etc and both attackers are blocked or killed, I can essentially give up game because lone frontline basic trooper cannot do things on his own. Like how in my, so far the only, 300p game with Kestrel where I had essentially only two offensive pieces - Squalo and Griffin (technically also Pathfinder drone but only for moving towards objectives) that were both blocked in first turn (I was moving second).Unless I got it wrong and "big targets" exist only as baits and whole work is done by mentioned line troopers.
>>98642075Wait, 100€ for a single mini? The fuck? Also, Aleph spec-ops beg for green hair and Miku cosplay.
>>98642217maybe they'll have more bits on them because spec ops have options? rev up minimagnets?
>>98641179List prep largely revolves around being given the actual scenario you're gonna play. I'd say 95% of matches of infinity you're doing an ITS scenario and will get a heads up before time what the scenario is, so this already goes to deciding what your list is gonna be likeContrary to what people will say, it's not realistic nor expected for you to have 7+ different specialists and bank on each one actually doing something since your lists are mostly gonna be a mess. What you ideally wanna do is first look at the objective and think>"How do I win this?"Like say you're doing Data-Harvester for example. Look at your faction and think about just practical shit that could pop up>Can I take specialists that fill multiple rolls? If a hacker and engineer technically can do all main objectives should I just bring them?>Do I bother with classifieds?>Can a specialist run out to the tech coffin by themself or will they need a fireteam? Do they just need a duo? A trio? A full core?>Do I have good tools to take out anyone watching the tech coffins? If not will some smoke or camo help?>Do I have measures in place to kill people who might try to disable the harvesters? Do I even care about them?>Will I have enough movement on my data harvester runner for them to blitz up the board, or do I need extra orders?>Should I have one dedicated runner? Two? Maybe three?>Do I want to try to score as soon as possible or try to sneak in multiple points during the very last round?>Should I bother defending my own designated zones? Do I include hackers or engineers or deactivators in that defending force just in case? The truth is you want to have a bunch of shit in your list but you only have so many points and no one strat will be perfect because you still haven't even seen what the enemy is bringing.1/4
>>98642217>single mini>its 3READ NIGGA READ
>>98642297We'll make an example list. Sometimes bringing big guys with a big guns is a good idea; for something like Data Harvester you could easily give up entirely on the idea of defending and full send it with a fireteam and a TAG, blitz up the field, kill everyone and just spend the last round getting the objective done. So lets say you're doing this; what do those things need? A TAG should always have an engineer on the field. This works out great because you need a specialist to crack the tech coffins open anyway! In fact hackers can technically do it too, and TAG's love having a killer hacker friend they can rely on to zap anyone looking to total control them, so maybe you should bring one of those too. A Scarecrow would be great since we can try to get our Squalo to play around his hidden deployment. What else do TAG's like? Well TAG's like lots of orders, so yeah let's bring some cheerleaders; fennecs or REM's can work for this, but we'll bring a fennec core for now...Wait we still have that other attacking force we have to rely on...A Griffin would be nice, but we can't drag some fennecs around with him since they'll be easier to pick off, so let's give him a Firefly buddy so he gets his duo bonus and we'll make the Firefly an engineer. Just like that we have someone who can both fix up either the TAG or the Griffin if they get hacked and can also crack open the data coffins. At the moment we have the bare minimum we really need for our "plan" but we're running short on points and have to decide some stuff>Do we want to get more orders?>Do we want another backup kill piece?>Do we want backup specialists in case our Firefly and Scarecrow die?>Who is our Lt?The truth is no matter what you want, you'll have to make some compromises, so lets think back to the actual mission objective which is to kill everyone and give up on defense. For this example we'll choose to focus on getting more orders first and find another kill piece second as a backup
>>98642217I think that's for the entire bundle. Book + Spec ops box with 3 minis + NA2 spec ops.
>>98642318So who's cheap that can give us some more orders? Well we've got Jackals and their Magistrate in a haris; 37pts for some teethy weapons and orders. That fills out the first group but we're low on points now and we still haven't picked out a kill piece yet. We can't really make a dangerous fireteam, so lets try to pick out a skirmish unit that can work well solo and doesn't need many orders. After looking at the roster, I think a Blink with a heavy rocket launcher would be great; decent BS, mimetism, camo, hidden deployment, wildparrot and all for an affordable cost. With that picked out lets give them SOME orders so they can at least move around a little; fugazi, tech bee, pathfinder and a mule bot. They're all cheap orders, and on top of that the tech bee can be a backup specialist in case shit REALLY hits the fan, meanwhile the pathfinder and mulebot both have deactivate so even though it isn't our "goal" we have another form of backup right there in case the enemy gets data harvesters into our designated zones. After moving some units around and splitting the main kill pieces (griffin duo and squalo) into each group so they get their own orders...It still looks like we're lacking some teeth, so maybe we should slip a thunderbolt fennec into group 1 and take advantage of them being a core. In fact, we can move the pathfinder in too since they're a wildcard and there we go, another potential backup backup kill piece. Sure he's just BS12 cheerleader but at least we have a big gun with some bonuses in case the other big guns falter. 3/4
>>98642338
>>98642351Well that's basically the list. We have 4pts left now, so who's going to be our Lt?We could have the Magistrate be it and benefit from the strategos L1 he's got...But we're basically announcing publicly who our Lt is to a good player by doing that, and we do NOT have the right defence to protect him unless we hide him near our Blink and Fennecs. If we choose to do that, we can make one of our fennec's a paramedic which could be potentially useful. On the other hand we have the option of making the Magistrate a chain of command and giving the Lt position either to our Griffin or a Fennec. This is probably a smarter idea just because players will naturally want to gut the fennecs anyway to cut the order pool of the Squalos and our Griffin is bound to be in the line of fire. If the enemy manages to kill one, there's no guarantee the Fennec or Griffin IS the Lt, so there's still a chance that even if they kill the Magistrate the Lt is still alive, so they'll likely have to kill 3 different models in varying places of the board, something that will be very difficult for them to do. Also chain of command troops count as specialists, which can help be a good backup for us since we're low on those. I'll make the Griffin our Lt in this example. And that's our list. Need to stress that there's a million ways to go about this and different things to focus on, and that this list won't win world tournaments but the priority should always be>What do I need to actually complete objectives?>What is my plan and what do I need to pull it off?Don't worry about what good lists "look like", just make a list that you think will work for the scenario you are playingHopefully this helps but I'm also a retard. I only realised after writing this all out and taking the pics I technically have 16 troops which is one too many, so idk just get rid of the tech bee and make one of the fennecs an FO4/4

>>98642360They've fucked up the bundle pricing on their store then because that's what the book + spec ops box + na2 spec ops would cost if you bought them separately. The na2 spec ops is supposed to be free.
>>98640818>>98641162Okay cool thank you, I'll look into Nomds or Aleph then!>>98642075The Aleph one is super cute. Are these all like new characters or something?
>>98642309It's still fucking overpriced in such case. 100€ is what I paid for Operation Sandstorm aka 15 minis, terrain, dices, etc. >>98642338Book makes a little sense in this case but it's still insane.
>>98642371>>98642351>>98642318>>98642297Wow, thanks. That's a lot of stuff to think over. Wish that more players would like to play 150p games instead, it would be easier to grasp. Overall, it's kinda odd that Operation boxes, being the ones people usually start with or run demo game with warcor, show whole different type of teams to play with than what people usually face in actual games. Someone can run demo game with 7 people, happily run into another player and face 10 people team, far more optimized and deadly (I recall my 150p game against local warcor, turns out that balancing out team was not good idea when facing fee very strong CA pieces, like Ko-Dali, effortlessly killing opposition without caring about losing Lt because almost everyone was Veteran).
>>98642469>Are these all like new characters or something?Nope, they are customisable units meant for campaigns (or at least were so in the previous iterations). The idea is that they accrue experience during the campaign and can unlock new skills, equipment etc. It's explained a bit here: https://youtu.be/5ZgfMEH3GlA?t=646
>>98642075I really like what they have done to the website in the past couple years. It looks real sleek and modern now. You can really tell they hired a tech guy and a marketing director.
>>98642719>Wish that more players would like to play 150p games instead, it would be easier to graspI also want this, but really the biggest filter for me so far has been the god awful way all the mini's are packed and how half the profiles don't even have actual miniatures. I shouldn't have to buy a starting kit with a whole other army I don't want just so I can play OSS Aleph and then spend $100 just to get a pack of 6 guys because out of those 6 I need just 1 of them.I'm sure it's a better system for longer term players that intend on just buying the whole faction anyway but I don't like every model in every faction. At least with other games if I'm buying models I like at least 80% of the models in said box. Maybe would be more acceptable if at least all the profiles had minis but again so many of them just don't, and they're for shit that seems like it would be popular? Then you find out models for them did exist but they just got discontinued even though they looked good?
>>98642635Their books are always massively overpriced. Warsenal has the individual spec ops packs for $38 USD which is still pricey for 2.5 miniatures, but in the realm of sanity at least.
>>98641179In tournament play (and the game is geared towards those) mission list is known beforehand. Usually you just make two lists for different types of missions/opponents.
>>98642075Where Hatail?
>>98645623
Nice...
>>98643831>the biggest filter for me so far has been the god awful way all the mini's are packed and how half the profiles don't even have actual miniatures. I shouldn't have to buy a starting kit with a whole other army I don't want just so I can play OSS Aleph and then spend $100 just to get a pack of 6 guys because out of those 6 I need just 1 of them.I remember when the Neoterra starter came out with just the Bolts unique to the box and they still released a Bolt blister so people didn't have to buy the other half. How times have changed.
>>98643831Honestly blame the higher-tier players for the whole profile thing. So many high tier players basically use one profile from each unit's list so even if they have to proxy it, at a bare minimum it's still just x unit but they're holding y gun instead. Corvus mostly listens and caters to these players which is why you'll see reinforcement packs that just have a random vomit selection of units. If you're a normal player coming from a different game that wants to run like multiple druze or brawlers or bolts or wu ming and create some kind of cohesive, organised looking army instead of a mish mash of random fucktards then you really get shafted and it does blow.
>>98646082I remember when the Varuna starter came out and was literally unplayable out of the box. Or when Mobile Brigada got Shotgun Lieutenant because Corvus in their 300pts Corregidor Box forgot to put in a Lieutenant.

>>98646138If you take this explanation here and add to it the shitty N5 videogame style additional rules mechanics, you see why my group split and either doesn't play anymore, or only plays N3.And that's before we talk about the prices of all those boxes of 3 models where you only want one model in the box. But you actually want that model with a different gun twice over.Continuing my rant:N5 is shit and it's not just corvus belli's fault. I also blame all the retards that said: "oh, don't buy a rulebook, it's only gonna be obsolete. oh, don't use the pdf full of unit profiles, just use the app. oh, the game is unbalanced if you don't play 300pts ITS. oh, don't use that unit/profile, it sucks in 300pts ITS games". Newbie learning the rules that has zero games under their belt, here to ask a rules clarification on Hacking, more specifically on repeaters/pitchers.From reading the rules for it a day or so ago my impression (scenario "A" in my shitty pic) for making use of a repeater was that you had to be in the ZoC of the repeater to make use of it as a hacker (the blue circle), where assumedly you'd also have to have a target (the orange circle) also in the ZoC of the repeater, however I spoke to another player in my local scene that has games under his belt that said your hacker actually doesn't have to be in the ZoC of a repeater at all to make use of it, and that anyone can use any repeaters to target someone so long as a valid target is inside the ZoC of a repeater (scenario "B" in my shitty pic). Which is actually the correct reading and interpretation? I'd love to double check but the rules site seems to be down at the moment cause I keep just getting a "bad gateway 502" error. I'm interested in using hacking so knowing how repeaters and pitchers work is probably super important.
>>98658332From what I understand from the rules, it's B - repeaters simply provide additional zones your hackers can use. However, if you want to use your opponent's repeater, you have to be in ZoC of it but in such case you cannot target anyone else but opponent hacker and suffer -3 mod.Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
>>98658376Yeah, if your hacker is within the zoc of enemy repeater, he can target enemy hackers, but nobody else.

>>98658416
>>98658424Yiu can see this one is an older paintjob, pretty flat colors compared to the other stunties
>>98658376>It's BShit, no wonder everyone hypes up repeaters and pitchers then. Honestly in a game where you usually have like 3 turns I was definitely wondering why someone would specifically bring a deployable repeater but if some hidden deployment guy can just run up and plonk one down so some guy at the back of the board can start slinging out carbonites then that makes so much more sense, and now I suddenly give a lot more of a shit about REM's.Thanks for the clarification!
>>98658513I would say that repeaters are important if you have solid hacker(s) to back it up, otherwise it can double edged sword, due to mentioned hacker targeting. Nomads probably makes most use of it (extreme case is having one player unable to move without being targeted by immobilize/targeted/isolated states).
>>98657746I don't plan on collecting Combined Army even after being given most of a Shasvastii Action Pack for free, but I'm still getting Raicho and the Pneumarch because those models are sick as hell. Maybe I'll have to add that girl from Delta to it
Which TAG has the most "main character" energy, both in terms of in-game performance and aesthetics?
>>98661846While my personal favorite is the Raicho I'd probably have to give it to the Iguana since being able to jump out and do cool shit on foot on the fly is about as main character as you can get. Especially since it's an older, less impressive mech that gets by on scrappy underdog energy and aggressive tactics.Plus running and gunning with a mech-grade weapon is pretty chadly.
>>98661846The Avatar. While I strongly prefer the classic one, the remake is still appropriately menacing.
>>98657801Buzz off.
>>98662389Avatar has more of a "Final Boss" -energy
>>98662479Nah, that's the Megalodron. Unless there's a "hidden superboss" category.
>>98662563Megalodron is indeed the "optional superboss you need to 100% the game to even unlock and who takes 4 hours to beat".
>>98661846Several of the TAG's are pretty main protag>TikbalangIf you've ever seen a PanO player bring a list with one of these it really is a "all our hopes lies on this guy" moment. They parkour all over the map, move at the speed of light and murder fuck everything in sight. With them looking like EVA-units too it really feeds into that feeling of being the guy that saves the day>O-YoroiIt's a japanese samurai mech that's somehow stealthy enough to sneak past enemies and has the appropriate martial arts skill for it's katana to be more than set dressing. Better yet you also get koala's which are just your typical whacky mascot characters (except they just explode and murder people). Very underrated TAG for a faction that in-universe are all mostly underdogs>Blue WolfGiant mecha werewolf with dual heavy flamethrowers and enough anti-armour weaponry that you can rip apart other TAG's and HI squads no matter the range. Maybe feels like less of a protag than the other TAG's, but White Banner has lots of tools to make him feel like an absolute monster on the field.

>>98663157yeah if you squint, it makes the armor look like a tank top
>>98662946So how many comic book references are we up to now
>>98665034>does he know
>>98661846>>98662090>>98662817As much as I love the Raicho's aesthetics, it is very much not main character energy all the way down to its lore. It's the dedicated "hot blooded tomboy childhood friend with an uncomfortable number of death flags" mech. Especially with it being on the "bad guy" faction, it's very much the mech whose pilot dies in front of her reasonable, honorable villain childhood friend and sends him on a suicidal warpath to take out the protagonists in a reverse Ramba Ral situation.
>>98664167It basically is if you consider the synthetic muscles to be bare skin.
>>98663000My only guess is because of the close association of frogs with alchemy, frogs being an ancient greek symbolic connection between life and death due to being able to cross in and out of the swamps/underworld, and the ancient greek art batrachomancy, or telling fortunes using frogs. There's also Heqet, an ancient egyptian deity with a frog head that was responsible for breathing life into humanity and Kek, another ancient egyptian frog deity whose domain was darkness, chaos, and hidden knowledge, all of which fit spec ops. I don't know enough about anything explicitly arabic related to frogs, but they certainly hold some important domains with other cultures in the area related to Haqqislam's main gimmicks and/or spec ops.

>>98706431Look at how they massacred my boy
>>98707285It's a shame that old Morats are OOP, I liked their designs, especially basic infantry.
>>98708006I'm so glad I snapped up almost all of pre-N4 morats before the refresh. The only new designs I own are the new hungries (didn't get my hands on the old ones in time and they're only a bit of a sidegrade imo, there's things I like and dislike about the old and new ones alike) and some of the special pieces like the Zabuk. There haven't really been any morat releases since the refresh that spoke to me, which is a shame because they're the army that first got me into Infinity.
>>98707285ENTER
>>98708006Those are middle morats
>>98710912Strange, I would say they are both rare and certainly well done.
>>98713825He meant they are not the oldest but in the middle of old and new

Anyone here have any experience with the Infinity RPG? I'm looking to cut my teeth on GMing for some friends and introduce some total newbies to the setting, anyone have some good advice on running the game or a good pregen adventure to run em through?
>>98725251What's your stance on meta-currency? This will directly relate to your enjoyment of the game.
>>98725261Most of my potential players are either neutral or positive on metacurrencies.
>>98725251thanks for reminding me I bought this but still haven't broken the book in. One time me and my friends went through the life path generator for this game and unironically made space Hitler, down to the failed art career. It got some good chuckles out of us as the time but we never played the system.
there he goes!
>Out of production>Limited release>No model release yet>Out of stock for 3+ monthshow the fuck are you meant to actually play and get into this game if you are a new player and aren't interested in whatever the newest faction release is? Are there 3D printed copies people have made of models you can't get anymore or something, or is everyone that plays just veterans from earlier editions that had the luxury of getting important models before they just disappeared from existence
>>98728976Where are you from?
>>98729276
>>98728976Armies/sectorials that are marked as OOP are often imbalanced anyway and updated solely to give old players options to keep playing. Whatever is currently listed as available contains enough "in production" models for comfortable play with minimal amount of proxy use - and remember that game is pretty supportive towards proxy, as long as model is easily identificable as different than others on the board. Models marked as "exclusive" are simply different versions of existing models so no big deal, you just miss potentially cool sculpts. Other than that, it's matter of supply in given area/country, not CB problem of not producing stuff anymore. 3D prints are banned.Do you have problem with certain army?
>>98729396It was chosen as a prison colony for a reason anon...
>>98729396Every time.
>>98728976I feel this to an extent. Playing Svalarheima and having mostly every model but still needing to proxy 2/3rds of them with versions of themselves holding the wrong guns because CB only ever thought someone would want to use a spitfire and boarding shotgun nokken over every other useful profile with a combi rifle does suck.I want to run a full haris of Nisse's just cause they're cool but only being able to buy the sniper one feels so fucked up and my autism refuses to allow me to just run 3 copies of the same guy in the same pose.>just cut up the model and do some sculptingI'm not talented enough to make it look good and also CB made models of them holding those guns already. CB you fuckers let me have my hacker and HMG nisses
>>98729931Wait, Nisses outside sniper one are OOP now? I just finished these guys two days ago ;_;
why does wolf mann have toyotomi hideyoshi's crest
>>98730050Either they are OOP or they’re using their mimetism to hide from me. Very handsome fellas by the way anon, make sure to kill plenty of Yu Jing with them
>>98730065Everyone in the setting is a weeb of some sort.
>>98730075Sorry, but they're only killing japanese now
>>98732734Also acceptable, they've been getting too uppity
>>98732805do we know if INFRARED will take place on Shinju? It's such a cool backdrop for a shadow op. I get Raccoon City Bio-Hazard vibes from some of those ghost towns under the JSA control.
>>98737204Yes, the preview file includes the first page of the scenario section which explicitly says so.
