does anyone else have a favourite ruleset that they use in all the games they play?my two favourite settings are Shadowrun and Dark Sun, but I use a mashup of Fighting Fantasy and GURPS rules to run my games, using FF's attributes and Luck mechanic, and GURPS' 3d6 system>Skillfor all combat and generic manual tasks>Staminafor hit points and tests of brute strength, poison/disease resistance etc>Luckto use as a pool of "hero points" to give rerollsI do add;>Specialityas a stat to give settings and classes their own flavour.eg in Shadowrun, "Speciality" means you choose between decking, rigging, magic etc.in Dark Sun it's one of the magic systems.I might change the names of the attributes to have a flavour of the settings, but fundamentally they are the same.eg Shadowrun;>Quickness>Body>Edge>SpecialityDark Sun>Dexterity>Strength>Wisdom>Intelligencehave a pic of my Shadowrun standees to start the thread
>>98636174For me, this used to be Dogs in the Vineyard (og, not DOGS which IMO breaks due to omitting a super-important rule.) Still fond of it.But then I found Fate: Condensed and never looked back. If you go by the actual CC3.0 SRD and *not* what the "community" says they meant to write, it's an absolute 5-star banger even if Core, Accelerated and the version of Condensed the "community" claims they *meant* to write are still trash.
>>98636438you didn't say which is the world you like and which is the ruleset you use, anon?
>>98636174I have a bastardized form of pbta clocks, threats and fronts I tend to use for most things. Turns a lot of background book keeping and game world into a fast shorthand I can write down easily and translate into whatever the actual game is fairly easily. 2D6 + modifiers for morale checks of various forms from Epic Space Marine when I was kid has been ported over to anything that needs it as a quick resolution method. Tried advantage/disadvantage in various dice sizes for quick circumstantial changes but didn't particularity like it for very long.
>tried advantage/disadvantage in various dice sizes for quick circumstantial changes but didn't particularity like it for very long.dude, same, I like to play solo a lot and I tried to put adv/dis rules to streamline npc/enemy creation on the fly so I can jist start playing a game without any prep but I just haven't been able to come up with a system that feels immersive to trick myself into feeling like my gameworld is a living thing.I keep playing with "roll 3d× and keep the best, worst or middle one" systems too, expanding on the binary "adv/dis" system
