Repostan since a new thread popped up right after I uploaded it
>>98637884If people truely didn't care or like anything about any of the new shit, then they would never bother buying it in the first place.
>>98637859obviously one cannot be happy about the 6 million copies of the Horus Heresy out there.I think its not reading. There's nothing there to be read. They're just an endless string of cliches and profanities. I cannot think that does anyone any good. People tell me, 'well at least the manchild is reading' to which my answer is, 'no the manchild is not reading'. That's not Childhood's End, that's not Hyperion, that's not the Time Machine by HG Wells or Isaac Asimov's Foundation. That's not really literature, it's really just slop and I don't think it does anyone any good at all.
about to get cracking on this adeptus ministorum kit, pray for me lads
Has anyone here bought from Dark Miniatures before? I'm interested in their tactical squad recasts.

I got a cheap box of red corsair raiders so I'm painting one up for each of my friends in their favorite colors4 of them were easy to translate but one's favorites are mint teal and charcoal and I'm struggling to get an idea for it that I think would look good on his model

>>98637933>favorite colors>one's favorites are mint teal and charcoal what the fuck. I’d honestly double down on the teal part, make it the majority of the armor and the charcoal will be accents.
>>98637894You ask a primarisfag why they prefer those and 9/10 times the only answer is the proportions. None of the lore or design changes are attracting more people to them.
>>98637859>TQThat time an Inquisitor deliberately seeded an imperial world with genestealers, and waited until the GSC were almost ready to take over. Then he send one of his Interrogators, a woman, without telling her what was going on and tipped the GSC.Once she has been raped and become pregnant with an hybrid, the Inquisitor sent a clueless Deathwatch kill team to "rescue" her, and later the planet was Exterminatus to delete any clues. I picked up this book for the bolter porn and KT bro drama. Found way more than I was expecting. The marines are just another viewpoint in a tale of Ordo Xenos fuckery and rape, lots of rape.

Question about Dark Admech. Do they Worship the Omnisiah also in their own way or do they basically have nothing to do with the Omnisiah? Next, as far as how they might look iconography wise, do they carry the same icons and decals as like regular Admech? If they don't, what do Dark Admech insignias normally look like or represent?Reason I ask all of this is because I want to use regular admech troops to make a squad of Dark Admech to see how it would come out. But I really don't know much about them.
any scans of ork codex yet?
>>98637990Supposedly the Inquisitor had a plan to do somehow mess with the GSC life cycle. It's not fully explained, and left for a sequel
>>98637983I'm not in denial I'm saying it's a manufactured situation and it was completely unnecessary because every newfag would have bought upscaled firstborn with no other changes outside of proportions just the same.
>>98638003Dark Admech largely abandons the Omnissiah as they see it as a hinderance to shoving daemons into machines to make them deadlier.
>>98638003The Dark Admech are fedora tippers who laugh at the Machine God as being obviously bogus because the Emperor tricked them a long time ago into thinking he was the Omnissiah, which was a massive mistake because the smarter members of the Admech figured out he was duping them and decided to raze Mars and rebel against the Imperium because of it. >Next, as far as how they might look iconography wise, do they carry the same icons and decals as like regular Admech? If they don't, what do Dark Admech insignias normally look like or represent?Skulls, bionics, etc. but spikier and daemonic

>>98637983>You're just in denial about primaris now being the "space marines" for 99% of people since 8thNo, actually that's exactly my point. No one gives a fuck about Primaris lore. It's ignored completely in favor of the quality older stuff. The average player just treats them as upscaled old " firstborn " in their understanding of the setting.
>>98637966Saying that people wouldn't buy a product if they truely didn't like it in some way, isn't bad faith arguing, it's just objective fucking truth. What kind of a fucking idiot buys shit they actively dislike?
Has there ever been a planet that survived Exterminatus?
>>98638019GW scaled up Mk7 several times since RT. A classic marketing principle is that a new product is more desirable, and has more buzz than just incremental upgrades. It seems that it worked very well for GW.

>>98638046>GW scaled up Mk7 several times since RT.Every marine since 1998 to 2017 had the exact same size and the kits were near indistinguishible. So no, tha'ts wrong.>It seems that it worked very well for GW.Yeah every single faithful update sells like hotcakes without having to pull a primaris.

>>98638032>It's ignored completelyHardly because people still keep buy and making primaris shit first and foremost. Also ironically enough, primaris have very little fluff to themselves specifically actually. All of the Ultima Founding chapters, ie. marine chapters that are 100% primaris since their inception, are quite literally like 1 sentence footnotes that GW hasn't anything with. And basically have 0 characterization, 0 named characters, 0 relevant fluff or even relevant appearances in recent in-universe events. Like if you asked me what things the Salamanders successor Dark Krakens have taken part in, I wouldn't be able to tell you because basically none exist, besides maybe some irrelevant Black Library book that I have 0 interest in reading because in general I have 0 fucking interest in Black Library and its shlock.Like yeah, no fucking shit that majority of people, even primaris fans, flock to shit like Blood Angels or Ultramarines or other relevant chapters when the said fucking factions have like 40 years of lore, books and stories behind them that you can enjoy.

>>98638177Cool, I'll go with that. I take it I can achieve it with whatever basecoat grey space wolves officially use and a liberal coat of agarax earthshade? It feels wrong but I guess I can do it.
Custards
>>98638201The conclussion is that 40k as a whole has grown, mostly because GW now has a marketing department and propoerly uses internet marketing, something they famously refused to do for a good decade. Only a retard would belief their entire growth is entirely primaris sales.
>>98638133There's like a quadrillion novels and rules expansions describing them as they were before they started buttchugging Chaos. They were doctrinally shit at everything and blamed it on everyone but themselves.

i heard gw recently killed firstborn marines for 11th edition but did they give any lore reason for that the short answer pleasebtw not a troll and i dont follow the online community nor do i frequent /40kg/ on a regular
>>98638144Is it canon that every primaris carries a deadly virus that will kill them all in 5 years at which point the mass death of so many will pull Bligh's soul straight out from hell so he can rule GW with an iron fist producing qualiy armour rivercounting autism material for all eternity?
>>98638210>They were doctrinally shit at everything and blamed it on everyone but themselves.Wasn't that entirely down to Peeved Perty's retarded "oh woe is me, look how much I suffer for my work!" martyr complex?
>>98638208>something they famously refused to do for a good decadefanboy memelore. GW had been involved in online marketing since the 2000sPrimarchs and Primaris is the key change they did in 2016-17. Their compound success benefited all other ranges, sure, but they're the catalist and the driver.

>>98638220They aren't removed from the lore, just the game.
>>98638198This kind of shows a misunderstanding of the lore on your behalf, or you're just okay with huge contradictions in theme. To turn into such horrors is a clashing of this identity, but also>condemn the TS and Prospero for mutations>but keep around your own hideous mutantsSpace Yiffs have no backbone and are massive walking contradictions in lore. >>98638149>several Ultima Founding chaptersNot even several. Only chapter that got this treatment was Silver Templars. Rest didn't get shit. Also even if GW did give slight more background to say 9 primaris only chapters, all of that shit would still completely pale in comparison to the original 9 loyalist chapters that existed before, simply because 40 years of fluff vs only 9 years at best (remember not all ultima founding chapters have been revealed by GW at the same time, Sally successors were revealed only like 2-3 years ago) is fucking staggering amount of material in terms of books and stories.Due to this simple fact, majority of people would STILL flock to shit like Blood Angels and Ultramarines regardless due to the sheer fucking density of material they have to work with unlike vast majority of primaris only chapters.

Dear James Workshop:Please make the Orks Christmas Battlebox basically this old box, but replace the Mek with the new model and maybe replace one of the Deff Dreads with a Gorkanaut/Morkanaut, and I'll buy two of em.
When people refer to some novels as "bolter porn", what are they even talking about? Obviously people aren't fucking bolters but is any novel that features Space marines "Bolter Porn"? OR is it a very specific kind of novel?

>>98638287>>98638297I don't even think it's that big of a deal looking back on it, considering that the blueberry boyscouts are supposed to be the ideal chapter anyways with nothing inherently wrong with them or their gene seed. No fucked up corruption or traditions that makes them tragic, they're the blueprint for being the perfect chapter against their cousin chapters in universe.
>>98638253That's actually a better proportion than many of the old ones. You also forgot about the Tome Keepers (WD's own chapter)Besides the classic ones, the Blood Ravens, and the FW chapters, Ultima founding chapters seems to have more lore that stuff like the Sons of Orar or online favourites like the marines malevolent
>>98638217Building Ork kits. New Boyz sprues are packed with extra bits. Admittedly the tradeoff is in the fact that they didn't need to provide full alternative arm options for shootas and sluggas individually, it still has extras for either, especially when building the three special weapons. But it's really nice to finish the main part of building a kit, look at a sprue and see a bunch of little accessories and trophies and such that I can use across multiple projects again, that just has been not the case for a long time.

You should only have enough paint on the brush, adequately thinned that you can horizontally wipe the brush along the trim and the paint mainly stays on the trim. If it's too thick and gluggy the brush with deposit more paint than you want and spill over like that. The other thing is that it's a fine beginner mini but lacks a few steps in the painting process to give it depth. Look up shading/washes and highlighting for the next thing to learn in your painting journey.

>>98638450>>98638462"Milky" is often the term used for correct paint consistency but it is a bit vague. What brand paints are you using and how many coats?
>>98638450Thinning matters less than keeping the brush itself properly moist, and dabbing off excess paint onto some paper (not paper towel, they suck too much moisture from the brush) before painting the model. If paint isn't flowing nicely it's almost always because the brush needs to be rinsed and recharged."Thin your paints" is an old meme born of times when paints were far shittier and thicker out of the pot/bottle than they are now. It doesn't require precise instructions, and some brands break as soon as they hit a wet palette (pro acryl) so vague is the best you can get.

>>98638526Sacresants with a hospitaller and Junith is a solid brick. I usually play Take&Hold or PrioAssets so having a brick for the center is important. I usually support that brick by shooting at stuff that is going after the brick with Castigators and Vahl. Putting Immolators in front and Castigators behind gives you your little bubble of no cover, +1 ap, and Vahl shooting. Here's a pic of the brick surviving like 1200 points of nids shooting.I usually have 2-3 Immolators, 2 Castigators, 1 Exorcist, and 1 Vahl goon squad for vehicles. Most of the rest of the Sacresant brick and battleline for scoring. Here's some stuff that I find works https://www.newrecruit.eu/app/list/5c7K4SoB are just one of the worst armies right now so don't worry about it too much. I'm a contrarian so I like playing one of the less popular and less good armies in one, where every decision matters and you have to think harder and even then you're still going to lose most games against equal players. I have some marines and nids for when I want to just relax.

>>98638287I read the ward space marine codex possibly even cover to cover cause I used to do that back then when I was first getting into the universe. Buy codexes just to learn about the lore. The parts of the space marine codex people complain about were like 2 paragraphs out tonnes of dense pages of lore and art. It was overwhelmingly good, much better written than the average copy now. It was very ignorable. I assume its the same with the one paragraph in his Grey Knights codex.I also think newcron lore in general gets too much shit. I broadly agree with their instincts when they updated it. Tyranids already were the faceless thoughtless doomsday swarm threat. Necrons were a bit redundant in that way. Newcron lore when implemented and presented well largely maintains a good amount of the old appeal while making room for some characters and personality, which again isn't something every faction needs to have but they already have their faction defined by not having it. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of are the shards of the C'tan stuff. If something is this primordial material super powerful star god you shouldn't be able to break it into convenient arbitrary pokemon. If the thing is that they rose up and overthrew the C'tan then just have the C'tan be imprisoned in one piece as maybe a tappable power power source to empower given units remotely, but they're a single entity in a science prison somewhere and any power siphoned off from them is a cast off sliver of their actual power. Not a collared fragmented thing you can see on the tabletop

>>98638832Nah I like that they're s3 t3, they're supposed to be regular humans with some good gear and faith powers.I would make them have better leadership. They're a ld7 army and even the named special characters are ld6. Marines are ld6, and their nameless generic chaplains are ld5. The army of fanatical weirdos who want to die in battle should be ld6.I would also give them points reductions pretty much across the board. Battleline, Retributors, Castigators, Exorcists, these are all worse than similarly costed and similarly performing units in other books. This would essentially be making them a horde army, but that is what it is. When everyone else is significantly better than you, you should be cheaper. And finally, the faith mechanic should be overhauled. GW over-values faith dice. When you do that math, using a resource to place a 6 in a pool of dice is actually worse than marines who just have rerolls on everything. I would rather have a unit rerolling all hits and all wounds than be able to just make one a 6...they hand rerolls out like candy and then treat miracle dice like it's worth every unit being sub-par without miracle dice.SoB maintain a 45% or so win rate, and if you look on listhammer they get a few X-1 or X-0 runs every week or so, so people are winning with them and so it's not THAT bad, but they're just slightly below most other books (or almost every other book) when they don't need to be. Stop over-valuing faith dice and just make things slightly cheaper, it's not that hard to fix.I liked the old system a few editions ago where you accumulated faith points, and you could spend them to activate a special ability of each unit, and each unit had their own. The downside was that you had to memorize/reference two abilities for every unit, but it was fun.I've been playing them since 4th edition and they've always been my favorite. I don't mind them being below average, but some buffs are always appreciated.

>>98638996Depends. How tight is your bussy?
>>98638975my painting has improved significantly since my first practice army and models
>>98638981They're some of Abnett's earlier works and it shows. There's a point I think in the second omnibus where you start to sort of wonder how long all of the main characters are going to stay alive since he doesn't kill anyone important off for ages, then in one book you get a string of character deaths. Say what you will about Abnett in general, his latest stuff has much better quality of writing and pacing. Still, I have a real soft spot for GG, the whole premise and theming for that regiment is *chef's kiss*
>>98638974im not really into 40k right now but im sure i can find some motivation to whip up one cool retro dude
>>98639002Not really a fan of abnett in general. I like horus rising tough.
>>98638975This was my first model after returning to the hobby after close to 2 decades, was over 2 years ago. Think I've improved a bit since
>>98639017>HH-slopC'mon now, if you're going to read any Abnett it should be the Eisenhorn and Ravenor omnibus', in that order. Can probably skip Bequin trilogy, third book isn't out yet but it's pretty mahvel-ified
>>98639018Hey that is pretty good! This is my first model from like 6 years ago I think.
>>98638905It’s a hell you couldn’t even survive one day of
>>98639026To be fair rising is the least sloppy of them. I like it.
>>98639001Show us
Anyone know if scale wise, are the models ontop the same size roughly as the models on the bottom? or are the red ones up top shorter than the newer traitor guard down bottom?
>>98639035how does one recognize this decal anoni have been called him maybe 5 times this night alone and i dont even remember who he is
>>98639045There is no "decal anon". Only decalfag.
>>98638975I feel like I've definitely improved over time, these Kommandos were some of the first models I painted when I got back into 40k
When do you use super glue and when do you use plastic glue? I use plastic glue most times but I hear it has a weakness for gluing very small parts together or parts that aren't flat. Is that true? Prime example, the ball joint in the arms of necrons are circular. I feel like plastic glue doesn't work well for those. I could be wrong though.
>>98639035i mean i already post here so it couldnt be any worse>>98639045the type of word he uses for insults but at this point its probably just someone (or multiple posters) imitating him
>>98639053And here's where I'm at 3 years later. I'm probably gonna go back and redo those Kommandos so that they better fit the orks I'm painting now, but I'm still happy with how they turned out.
>>98639053i love black and red on orks
>>98639057>when do you use plastic glueWhen gluing bare plastic to bare plastic>When do you use super glueAny other time. It's that shrimple
>>98639064bad moonz yellow is better, proper orky colour
>>98639029And again 2 years later. My bases could do with some work but

>>98639066fuck that, goffs for life
>>98639053damn. I want kommandos pretty badly but it is hard to find them. I imagine they got rolled into some other 40k box. I am unfamiliar with orkz

>>98639075simple as
>>98639076I got them from the old Kill Team starter set with the Veteran Guardsmen (Here's a pic of them too while I'm at it). They were a Kill Team release at first but got repackaged into a 40k box a few months back now that they "rotated" out of Killteam. They're a pretty popular box, it'll come back in stock.
>>98639066>>98639075please, please, there’s a reason why half the orks in this general are blue, and its not just cause its lucky.
>>98639076they were in the last kill team starter box which had guardsman and a bunch of terrain in it, was insanely good value, that box ended up being cheaper than buying the kommandos by themselves. they became very popular in 40k armies once they gave us the option to split the squad into 2 5 mans
>>98639045If you're genuinely new to this general, don't use the term "decal anon". Only the mutant (or possibly whatever shitposter is masquerading as him) uses that term, the rest of use something derogatory like decalfag/mutant. Also if you do any of the below there's a good chance you might get called out for being the mutie>defend primaris (gross)>suck off space wolves (particularly if also capitalising terms like "Marines")>exhibit any disdain for those insulting wolves>posting normie tier gifs/reaction pics (particularly on their own with no comment)
>>98639087And some more recently done Krieg stuff for comparison.
>>98639089>there’s a reason why half the orks in this general are blueyeah, contrarianism
>>98639043I own both WGA Damned and Traitor Guard.Love both kits, they basically have the same proportions but the WGA Damned have bigger heads.
>>98638975eh, I don’t think I’ve improved THAT much in the year and a half I’ve been painting. its mostly just me using highlights now that elevate me above my previous paintjobs, but I’m fairly certain if past me was brave enough he could pull off similar highlights.
>>98639104Hmmm! Thanks for doing this. I might pick up the WGA Damned then. I like how they look. I like how regular traitor guard look too. My goal is to make The killteam called Blooded. But the damned box might be overkill but it isn't bad value I think. I just don't play full scale 40k.

>>98639131Just want to warn you, the Traitor Guard box doesn't contain the shotgun, the shield, the trench club, the syringe, and the power axe anymore because they took out the accessory sprue when they reboxed from Kill Team to 40k, and those are needed to build some of The Blooded's operators.Even getting them from WGA's The Damned range is pretty hard, to get all the options for The Blooded using WGA kits you'll need to buy Damned Female Infantry,(it's he only one with a sniper rifle and it's got all your standard special weapons) Damned Command, (for Commissar, Ogryn, medic, and comms) and finally Damned Beastmen(which has shields and tons of melee weapons). Damned Beastmen isn't out yet in retail BTW.(The Ogryn shield is from the Damned Brutes kit but the rest is from the Damned Command kit)

>>98639364Both Khorne and Nurgle love their followers more than Tzeentch, newfriend. Go and read Realms of Chaos, it's an older book but still holds up as the basis for the Chaos gods true lore. Khorne doesn't just "throw you into the meat grinder", he values honour and martial prowess and wants to see you succeed and come out on top, even gifting powers to do so. Nurgle gives you super AIDs but with the caveat that you can no longer effectively die a natural death since he also grants you immunity to the pain and suffering caused by those afflictions and you can't contract anything more, his endgoal is to have everyone live forever in his garden (there's a reason he's called Papa Nurgle, nicest of the big 4).

Read the very Realms of Chaos books you mentioned and anything else - Liber Chaotica and other Chaos-centric books confirm it all with LatD/RoC.

>>98639487notice how none of that is sourced.anyway, a lot of people like to have their bad guys be given some element of good or redeeming qualities to make them more complicated even if only a bit. it also likely has to do with the one of the easiest explanations for someone to fall to khorne being they like the ritualistic killing, because its way harder to justify why some dude immediately decided to start beheading people and drinking their blood out of no where.
>>98639487Do not worry too much about it, Anon. A lot of Loretubers and Wikis apparently push the idea of Khorne being honorable. I was not calling you a liar earlier, I just wanted to make sure you realized you were mistaken.

Getting into CSM and I got a question. My army's theme is a renegade chapter falling to chaos, but I feel weird them having daemon engines. I already plan on painting my raptors and warp talons like night lords (the chapter lost most of their assault marines fighting torchbearer custodes) so in my head the NLs are hired mercenaries or something. Would it make sense to have a *second* force of mercenaries (IWs for example) to paint the daemon engines as? Or is this a bad idea? I already plan on having some scheme similarities between my dudes (black with red lightning bolts) and the NLs (purple eye lenses, orange plasma, some small stuff) but IDK if it'd work or make sense to have a second band of hired guns with 'em. Thoughts?

>>98639607You don't really want more than 3 different CSM factions in your army at once, it gets harder to justify why each one is in your list. Some will also, lore wise, work better with others. I have a WB army and a IW army that are separate, but I have some raptors painted as NL, and some AL legionnaires, that I use in both armies to help fill out the list. (and so I don't have to buy more than I really need) And those factions you can justify a lot more easily for working together than something like EC and DG forces in your CSM army.

>>98639661I don't think three is too excessive and you can certainly find reasons why they're all together. After talking about the series itt I had half a desire to go reread but maybe not now.It only gets worse after the first omnibus IMO, the second is just so focused on the SoB each book feels a bit samey, and like I said there's a point where he just kills a bunch of characters. There is one neat scene which shows the tenuous and dubiously magic effects of Imperial faith - Larkin is sighting a chaos champion with a refractor field, has a vision where he's visited by a Saint, and after the vision the champ is dead by his shot and a red cloth hanging off his gun that wasn't there before. Made me feel emotional along with the story of the doctor staying behind to treat the injured while a troop of cultists are about to assault their position.
there are too many damn books
>>98639754>That's the first omnibusOh shid then I truly remember nothing great of the second omnibus, rip in pieces.
>>98638297for me, all the 40k lore they added after 4th edition doesn't exist, it's just easier that way
>>98639755There aren't enough. I just had to pay for shipping for a copy of The Dark Coil: Ascension because it's out of stock on Amazon.
>>98639221Would be hilarious if hellblasters were secretly just cursed to never be completed. We do hellblasters collage next month and nobody finishes on time and decalfag is vindicated for not finishing his.
NEW BREAD>>98639777>>98639777>>98639777IMAGE LIMIT
>>98639762Kinda makes it for the best they didn't reprint the the other omnis. I probably would've impulsed bought the second & regret it.
>>98639751>act like an outsider>appropriately called out for it>kick up a shitfight about itWhat causes this mental illness? There's no approved list of fonts to use, it's just the mere fact that 4chen was using Impact yonks ago, it fell out of fashion but normies picked it up and used it on le reddit for ages after, and nowadays if you see it on here it's usually some reddit tourist. Itt particularly we have one annoying tourist who doesn't fit in and refuses to leave. That's the deep lore, if you continue to post in such a fashion it will get called out
>>98639737its either Sector Imperialis: Sanctum or Basilicanum. Either way, out of print, and you'd be best off trying to find 3D print versions.
>>98638283Its when a book is full of scenes of marines gunning down endless generic fodder badguys IE orks, chaos cultists, eldar guardians, tau firewarriors, tyranids>>98638357Dont play SovietsTheyre so hilariously underpowered because while every other army has some historical research and care into the flames devs are giant werahoobo fanboys that drank the kool-aid so the soviets are 1 giant hollywood meme of pure dogshit that throws waves of men at the problem except they dont even get the endless waves of men because they actually cost more than most german troops on average. Only after literal years of community backlash did they finally release point balancing that actually makes the soviets as cheap as they should be but most of their equipment is still weaker compared to IRL
>>98639788I think I've identified one of your (many, many) problems. Namely that your diagnosis has left you with such a small supply of self-awareness that being, as one autismal babboon so eloquently put it, appropriately mocked for trying to set up yourself at the arbiter of what fonts are acceptable for use on 4chan confuses and enrages you.I don't think I've ever read such flatulent nonsense as you waffling on without a hint of irony about passé fonts for use in memes.
>>98639841You can argue all you want but I'm no arbiter of anything, just spitting straight internet history facts. Let me put this another way>something happens to anon>he's confused why>explain why>continues to dumbly argue against the why when the evidence of it is right there
>>98639541Slaanesh does everything in extremes to the point that they eventually destroy you.
>>98639541Ending up a chaos spawn is unironically better than living as your average pink flavored cultist.
>somehow get labelled as autistic and have poor social skills>friend think I'll be interested in the adeptus mechanicus>only collect Night Lordswhat's his problem
