So I understand that some aspects of Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition are what could be considered "open source" but since I'm working on a game and a retard could you help an anon out and let me know what I can use and what I cannot use? From all of DND

There you go, retard.

Thank you kind, anon!

Do note that that website contains a couple tiny changes as described in
>http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35
If you want the original SRD (a bunch of .rtf files), you can get them in the archives
>https://web.archive.org/web/20040414045127/http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35
There's a single link with everything at the bottom.
You might also want to read the actual license

What are you working on, anon?

Its a video game I'm working on, It's somewhat text based but instead of being the hero. You manage a heroes guild.
I wanna incorporate 3.5 as much as I can because I think the game will benefit from previously established ideas as opposed to file down the numbers or coming up with everything on my own.

>I think the game will benefit from previously established ideas
NTA but I understand what you mean but also suggest that you only copy a framework and exclude or rework stuff so that it's not retarded.
>>

I really appreciate having access to the SRD but I am only using it as a frame reference. and to also check what concepts WOTC will let me play nice with.
Did you know that Tieflings are copyrighted and excluded from the SRD(atleast in the SRD i have)but are in Pathfinder due to the SRD(this confuses me) and the video game aswell. Even if they can get away with using Tiefling in the tabletop its strange that that would extend to video games.
copyright law is a messy thing it seems.
>rework stuff so that it's not retarded
thats the whole idea, I never intended to copy 1:1. My biggest issue will be fighting with my own retardation.
But certain concepts and races I am quite fond of, such as drow elves. Dark Elves cannot be trade marked since its too generic but DROW are. So it's gonna be alot of "tastes like coke" cola rebranding.
Sorry If I'm not being clear.

Text-based Adventurers Guild Management sim?
You have a title in the works?
>>
>>98657116
ah, see, this is because the name 'Tiefling' as well others like 'Illithid' and 'Beholder' are copyrighted to WOTC. there is alternative names that Pathfinder use for these creatures, like 'Eye Tyrant' and 'Mind Flayer'. that's the real crux of things. just like how Games Workshop copyrighted 'Adeptus Astartes', could be wrong on the specifics but you get the gist
>>
>>98657133
Once it actually exists in some acceptable form I'll share it on /tg/ but right now I haven't settled on a title just yet. Prototype first above all things. Then artstyle, music and everything else.

Seems like fans don't give a fuck.
Do the actual books mention tiefling at all?

I pray you're not using AI to fully build your game, OP, that's lazy shit.
AI is good for concept art and conceptualizing, but its best if you have other folks assist you in your project. hiring some small time artist and small time producer on soundcloud is going to get you better results. I trust as a fa/tg/uy you caan handle the written aspect of your narrative, just avoid the usual narrative traps know to the genre.

Pathfinder doesn't have "eye tyrants" or "mind flayers." It does, however, have tieflings and they're even called tieflings.

not even using it for concept art, storyboarding. or anything really. I don't want it to influence my own idea of what I want it to be. I personally believe the creative process involves the ego, and criticism has it's place but that too must come from an ego. AI has no ego.

tabletop fantasy genre? what do you mean
