>group decides to kick a player
>don't like it but the alternative is the whole group falls apart
>start to regret my decision
>he forgives me and understands my decision
>still hang out with him
>the rest of the group hates him
>he doesn't even hate them back really
>thought about telling him more about the campaigns I've run since
>I told him some about the rest of the one he was in and how it ended
>been considering letting him decide some stuff for NPCs and help me come up with stuff to send against the party
>thinking of subtly talking more about the campaigns and asking for advice and seeing how he reacts
>don't want to upset him or anything though, even though it's been years at this point
>but I like the idea that he will be participating in the game, unbeknownst to the players and without their consent
>>
>>98650082
What did he do?
>>
>>98650082
Sounds great until the players learn about it and get seriously pissed.
>>
>>98650082
Don't.
>>
>>98650082
Calling him a co-DM seems like it's putting a level of responsibility to it that he might not want. If you're just bouncing the occasional idea off of him, that's slightly more reasonable.
>>
>>98650096
some bullshit political disagreement
and they thought he was kind of a dick
the whole thing was so fucking gay

>>98650119
true but there's near-zero chance they'd find out.
and if they did, whatever at this point.
the only reason I'm still with them is because I am too emotionally attached to the characters and campaign
>>
>>98650082
>>98650184

Huh. Sounds kinda like how I ended up losing a table group.

>Had disagreement with one chick that people took to be some socio-political thing.
>Apparently also came across as kind of a dick sometimes (would have thought everything I did for those guys would have countered that but oh well).
>Entire arrangement was handled poorly, and kinda fucking gay, but I understood it.

Reach out to him anon.
If he's anything like me, and you two were good friends, he might be right chuffed to speak to you again, but nervous about making contact after so long, given the falling out he had with the rest.
>>
>>98650184
>some bullshit political disagreement
Going to do some quick precognition here and guess he's a vague right winger and the others sniffed him out/demanded answers only to get upset about them?

If so, fuck 'em. They brought the problem to the table rather than accepting that it's an a-political space and frankly they'll witch hunt you in turn as well just for guilt by association.

I'd seriously consider if I want such people in my life given they're likely to consume me alive for the good-boy points at the first opportunity.
>>
>>98650330
That's not "precognition", faggot. That's your massive persecution complex. You're getting upset by things you're imagining in your own mind because you're every bit as hypersensitive as your orange daddy.
>>
>>98650135
>Calling him a co-DM seems like it's putting a level of responsibility to it that he might not want. If you're just bouncing the occasional idea off of him, that's slightly more reasonable.
Yeah that's what I mean. I just put that in the title for brevity. I would mostly be bouncing ideas off of him. He doesn't seem to be that upset he got kicked.

>>98650330
Yeah that's about what happened.
If they witch hunt me, too, then they'll lose their group. Because I am the only one there who can run a game that lasts more than 3 sessions. I know that because each time I said I wanted a break from DMing, I had to start doing it again 2 months later because they were unable to run a game.

I would have put my foot down then, but I didn't see the point in forcing them to hang out with someone they didn't like. That dude forgave me for effectively betraying him, and I've hung out with him since quite a few times. He is wanting to get back into gaming but my other groups are already too large. I am hoping to figure out something for him at some point.

>>98650348
Unfortunately, he's right.

>>98650314
>Reach out to him anon.
I maintained contact with him the entire time. He seemed surprisingly not mad at me. We're on good terms. I just don't like to talk about the group games because I feel like I am rubbing my betrayal in his face, and that's the last thing I want to do because I am ashamed of it. I don't regret it because I know losing that group would have made me even more miserable, because I was the one running the games and thus the most creatively invested. He just played and wasn't hugely invested in the stories. I could get him into a new campaign at some point.
>>
>>98650348
>That's not "precognition", faggot. That's your massive persecution complex.
I know being a midwit who thinks you're on the same political sportsball team as these people you believe reading between the lines is impossible, but as proven here >>98650378
I'm not guessing, I'm just capable of basic pattern recognition, you mewling little faggot.
Here's the part of the thread where you take a borderline lethal dose of cope and start claiming some radical conspiracy like I'm OP samefagging, the guy who got kicked, or Bill the King.

>>98650378
As for this: never run for emotional manchildren who always take but never give regardless of their politics, it sounds like they should have no say on who is or isn't in your campaign and them pulling this shit is proof they don't respect you, they just want someone who'll run the game for them.
Either tell them he's coming back and to leave their retarded bullshit at the door, as well as their politics (dohohoh) or find a new group for him to join.

You're ashamed of it because you did something wrong and that's laudable at least.
Make good on it.
>>
>>98650400
I mean it's been too long now and he has no desire to rejoin them. It would be too toxic of an interaction so it'd just be crushing the group out of existence for no reason. I salvaged what I could by staying longer. But I have been working on wrapping up the long-running campaigns and thinking of an exit strategy. We'll see.

I do want to find / make a new group for him to join, but I have too many going on atm. And I just don't have the energy to start another one. Creative output gets harder the older I get.
>>
>>98650082
You don't have to give him pity play like this, just hang out together.
>>
OP you are a spineless niggerfaggot
>>
>>98650082
Sure, go for it. As a DM you have great opportunity to mess with players on meta level, not taking it would be a waste.
I was once running two groups in parallel that shared setting and influenced each other's game without knowing. It was lots of fun.
>>

>>
>>98650082
Fuckin sucks, man. I had to dissolve the group I ran over almost the exact same thing. Friends since high-school and it went up in smoke over some ephemeral disagreement that was apparently the most important thing in the world. Kind of shit we talked about openly like 15 years ago.
>>
>>98650348
Is it still called a persecution complex if you are completely correct about everything? Lmao
>>
>>98650082
Out of curiosity, what opinions did your friend have or made public that got him kicked?
>>
>>98650082
You should've killed the group. Playoids do not get to make ultimatums.
>>
>>98650348
So, you ever going to apologize for or acknowledge your mistake in crossing Nostradamus here buddy?
>>
>>98650348
Lol, so will you apologize to him, considering the obvious has become apparent?

Might not have a choice if they're his only IRL friends to play with. And online play is a complete crapshoot where everyone only wants to play D&D 5e.

Says the drama queen crying bitter tears about everyone being against him before OP had given any indication whatsoever about what had actually happened.
>>
>>98650448
I do hang out with him, I take him to MTG events and stuff. He doesn't drive so I take him. Usually offer to get him some slop after. We hang out in my car and chat.

>>98650977
Yeah. I just really didn't want to lose my group. It was a selfish decision. I don't regret it but I do feel bad about it, if that makes sense.

>>98651028
>I was once running two groups in parallel that shared setting and influenced each other's game without knowing. It was lots of fun.
I've always wanted to pull that off but I could never quite make it happen.

>>98651143
some political bullshit

>>98651192
yes, I should have. I could have easily as well. But I was too invested in the group at the time. I've been working on wrapping those up. I don't know if I'll ever truly exit that group but I have definitely backed off a bit.

>>98651889
>Might not have a choice if they're his only IRL friends to play with.
No, not my ONLY friends, in fact I have one friend who does RPGs who I barely play with because I am so busy with my other groups. But I have had many good years of great campaigns with them so it would suck to let them go.

If I lost them, I could finally fulfill my dream of running a westmarches hexcrawl megacampaign at the FLGS. But plot-heavy campaigns would be kind of out, unless I could get a consistent group going that was invested.

The truly tragic thing about this interaction is that >>98650348 isn't going to self-reflect, or even take a moment to consider how anon knew.
He's going to write it off as either blind luck, or justify it to himself and forget about it in a few days and never, ever, have the Damascus moment he so sorely needs.
>>
>>98657193
He didn't know you faggot, that's the fucking point. As I said here >>98654748 he was just being a little bitch irrespective of whether the guy who was kicked was on his "team" or not. It doesn't matter. He's a sensitive little cunt like the rest of you but don't let that stop your self-pitying circlejerk.
>>
>>98657506
>He didn't know you faggot
Yeah, funny thing about that is that he obviously did. I know that's some warlock shit to you, but it isn't to the rest of us.
Maybe if you were capable of something other than emotions you'd be curious enough to ask yourself "But HOW did he know?"
The fact you never will is what I'm lamenting.
>>
>>98657665

People that can't keep irl politics outside of ttrpg games deserve to be shunted into a whirlpool until the lack of emotional control is suffocated out of them in the briny deeps.
>>
>>98655353
What was the "political bullshit"? I feel like that's important here.
>>
>>98658128
just basic bitch maga shit. I didn't want this thread to turn into a political shitstorm but let's just say they would continue bringing up politics and he would disagree. I just kept my mouth shut because I'm there to have a fun campaign and people take stuff too seriously.

>>98657980
Would you play TTRPGs with a pedophile? That's genuinely the level that these people see political disagreement with them.
>>

This is the most assblasted series of posts I've seen in years, absolutely fucking incredible. This dude got raped, gaped, and is now shitting blood all over the thread. Bro is so apocalyptic that I can't even highlight all his shrieking without my post getting filtered as spam.

Op you seem like an alright guy. If I were you then I'd just drop those other shitters for being cancerous and make a new game with the other dude. I know you're averse to it but hey, you'll feel better in the end by not associating with psychos.
>>

>>98661620
This is my first post in this thread, actually. Lots of people are laughing at you.
>>
>>98661677
No, it isn't. The samefagging is incredibly obvious, and pathetic.
>>
>>98650082
I see nothing wrong with doing this.
You do not need player consent to get an outsider to help with the testing and design process, that's your business.
Imposing on you in such a way would be abjectly ridiculous.
>>
>>98661375
Well first of all this site doesn't allow pdf uploads anymore and I'm not putting it on some other site. And 2nd of all I don't want to for the exact reasons I said. Believe what you want. I don't need to prove myself to you.
>>
>>98661038
Wrong, retard. I didn't post anything about the actual reason he got kicked until you fags forced it out of me to try to turn this into a /pol/ thread.

I was asking for advice on how to possibly give my friend some enjoyment without hurting his feelings or seeming like I was rubbing it in. I like brainstorming with him and I have no one else to brainstorm with who cares or knows that group. I was hoping he could help me develop some of my NPC villains and flesh them out. And he would know what those people would react to.

I used to post my gamelogs here but then some fags tried to harass me over it so I stopped.

>Lots of people are laughing at you.

Even if that were true Mr. samefag, what would they even be laughing at exactly? The point I made is that (You) are a sensitive little bitch. And you are, whether the people hurting your feelings are real or imaginary. So what have I got to be embarrassed about, exactly? You can keep spamming "HOLY SHIT BTFO" until we reach bump limit if you want. That's not bothering me, janny deleting my posts is.
>>
>>98664844
Mostly laughing at the deleted posts. You have problems.
>>
>>98664844
Hey sorry, im too late to see whatever embarrasing shit you said in your deleted posts, any chance you can repeat them for context? This thread has been the highlight of my shit break.
>>
>>98662053
Yeah I mean I don't think he would even lash out in spite upon the players but if he had good ideas that'd be helpful. Also he was actually in the campaign at one point so it'd be easier than explaining the entire premise from scratch to another friend to ask for advice.

Sometimes I bounce ideas off of ChatGPT and it gets my creative juices churning, even if the AI's ideas are dogshit it helps me by giving me material to read about my own game, which helps me come up with new stuff. Sad that I have to use what is effectively creative Viagra though.
