>TQI desperately hope Necrons become an elite army again, no C'tan spam doesn't count, C'tan are gay
1 HQ, 2 Troops, and some stuff for fun, simple as.
Sister anon, do you have any recommendations for basing to someone that's just done armageddon dust on marines before? I was maybe going to do that marble effect with a stretched out baby wipe
>TQIf we honestly have to go with detachment BS, I just want detachments that actually make most of the units in my army useful as opposed to being stuck with like two or three load bearing datasheets.
Make warriors feel like the big elite infantry threats they're supposed to beUnfuck wargear options (toxin sacs, adrenal glands, all the carnifex head and tail options, etc.)Make gants worth taking againMake my army actually feel like it can kill stuff and not rely on ignoring my opponent for 5 turns to score points
>>98657357Cuz they need it>>98657358Eh I’d be ok with like 1 or 2 being viable picks but they shouldn’t be staples
>>98657363just do it, you can't go too far wrong with basing because if worse comes to worse it just a base
>>98657346>TQPlease give nids something ANYTHING better than the current shadow in the warp.
>>98657346give all eldar units psyker level 1 at minimum
>>98657370DUDE what do you mean Battleshock is SUPER IMPORTANT
>>98657357>48% win-rate with the best players on the most optimized lists playing perfectly>worse version of salamanders in every way>extremely overpriced infantry units>tax on taking the few usable models in the entire range>any time sisters get to 50% GW nerfs best units for no reason>extremely few detachment options>can't combo best two detachments because reasons>extra cp generator has to jump through hoops>faction rule relies on models dying or its almost useless>t3, s3 in current year>low mobility Sisters are in a grim state right now
>new detachment further reinforces Marines hitting on 2'sWhy are they bothering to pretend? Just give Marines BS 5 across the board and remove a bunch of text on the unit cards. It'd be cleaner and less disingenuous that way.
>>98657380Welcome to the club with ad mech.
>>98657364Both new codexes have a general purpose 3dp detachment so far.
>>98657380>48% win rateThis is perfectly fine. 45-55% is within the balance range. Sit down. Plan your deployment. Play the objectives. Get to work.
>>98657370SitW is going to go away (likely locked behind the psychic detachment) and the army rule is going to move to synaptic imperatives wih different detachments giving you access to different imperatives
>>98657346>What 11th edition changes are you hoping GW makes to your army when your factions codex drops?some cool fluff for NLs
>>98657389I don't play either, and that doesn't necessarily mean it'll work for other armies. Take ad mech for instance who I guarantee won't be able to effectively use every datasheet in a generalist 3dp detachment.
>>98657358Are you yourself a Necron player? I love C’tan personally.
>>98657390Wrong they need buffs
>>98657404Well if the situation you've made up in your head is worth getting angry about I won't hold you back.
>>98657388Suffer with me admech bro. I have to maximum effort and draw perfect secondaries to have a chance at winning even casual games>>98657390>le git gudanon pretending the army doesn't have fundamental issues is being willfully ignorant you also didn't address any of my points
>>98657397Now we’re talking
>>98657413Yeah I don't know have you seen the past couple of editions?
>>98657408Yes. I have always hated C'tan. They look gay and retarded next to my perfect shining phalanxes of silver skeletons. The only one I own is the old nightbringer I got when my buddy stopped playing 40k. I hate C'tan. I fucking hate them so much.
>Secrets...
I want Sister sisters buffed because of anon who posts them here and the sweet girl who plays them at my lgs. Like we discussed before, either give them 2W or T4 or some kind of FNP (pick one) and some better anti tank options.>TQI honestly don't know how they can buff Eldar without making them cancerous (again). But I'd really like to see Exarchs get powers back and have them be good again. Want my Autarch on a bike back and cool psychic powers. PLs are sick but it's really kinda funny seeing 2-4 of them in every list when they should be close to primarch levels of bullshittery.
>>98657419I've seen this edition and how they're doing things so far. Cheer up, Eeyore, things aren't looking so glum.
more like slutsters of buttle LOL
>>98657426>some kind of FNPThey really do seem to be reducing FNPs this edition. Orks lost them, as did Infiltrator marines. Hopefully will be far more rare and thematically appropriate than they have been.
KINDKOLOSSALKUSTODESKNOCKERS
>>98657426I have a list where I run every single phoenix lord minus the corsair ones, with a couple of wave serpents + avatarIt's surprising how effective they are at brutally murdering an entire unit then hopping back into a transport lol
>>98657426GW said we’re not a real bolter army and will not receive buffs. The update honeymoon is over
>>98657426Buffing Eldar is actually quite simple, you give us the Psychic phase back with every unit being a minimum Level 1 Psycher. That's the only change we really need. What will actually occur is we will remain slower than Marines, less tough than Marines, worse armor than Marines, fewer melee attacks than Marines, weaker weapons than Marines, and still cost more than Marines.
Started a new program in college and so I'm thinking of picking out a new unit to start a new army. What should I grab? I've already got necrons. My current two frontrunners are centurions to start a renegade-proxy army, and a wraithlord to start a exodite-y CWE army, but I'm open to most things that aren't full horde armies.
>>98657443based. femstodes for life
>>98657459>and still cost more than MarinesWhy lie so blatantly?
>>98657397Sorry but that's not allowed. Seriously. ADB supposedly loves the NL, is the head of narrative for 40k and does NOTHING with them. ffs
>>98657459Why do you care about unit stats so much? 90% of the game is the army, detachment and stratagem rules now. Eldar still rape Marines all the time
Why don't you want to play Rogue Trader-esque narrative scenarios?
>>98657459No man you get nothingEldar get nothingYoure fine as is
>>98657471Theyre already pretty coolIf nuGW starts fucking with them they will only do damage
>>98657473Because that wouldn't affect my ELO, fuck off back to DnD
>>98657460Since you seem like someone of a /m/fag I'll recommend getting a knight of some kind. They're fun to assemble and very easy to paint
>>98657417>>98657380>>98657414You lost and now you're throwing a fit trying to shift goalposts
>>98657473I like 40krpg stuff its dope>>98657483Dnd is aight too
>>98657488Wrong they need buffs
Sisters are fine and don't need anything.
>>98657470We get less value for every point spent, thus our army costs more. >>98657472>Why do you care about the numbers that affect the game>Eldar regularly hit 40% win rates using these numbers, pre-Marine codexIt's a mystery for the ages.>>98657478Bolt-carbinefag or mutie, call it
Sisters need a ~10pts decrease across Battleline and Infantry, - 5pts on characters.
>>98657485I kind of want a knight destrier, but only as a display piece. I've heard a lot of how knights aren't all that fun to play.Although I think there's a knight player or two in my LGS. How fun are knight-vs-knight games?
>>98657472the eldar aren't doing to well anon they either need a complete army rule rework, or some points cost reduction because their units are still priced like when they could move shoot move before james kneecaped them for being #2fast4u>>98657488wait are you agreeing with me or disagreeing with me, idk why u quoted me
>>98657385>change cover so thats its -1 to hit, to "reduce lethality">first 2 codecies of the new edition either spams ignores cover on everything or gives +1 to hit on everything
>>98657507The eldarseethe is just too goodHes taking swings at ghosts now
>>98657452Hell yeah brother. Are you running that list as Warhost to jump back into the transport with the strat or are there other ways to do it? I haven't fully grasped the million disembark/embark rules yet.
>>98657431Hey man, your army didn't spend the past three editions wondering if your full army would get its army rule on top of having a shit codex.
>>98657420I think you should shelve your Crons and pick up a more feminine army that suits your special needs.
>space marine battleline vs sister battleline>this is fine sisters need nothing okay.gif
I feel like every other army on /40kg/ has someone insisting that all the players are whining autists who are never satisfied.
>>98657482I don't need them to have the popularity of the cult legions but at least give us a cool night lord character or something.
>>98657541Permanent means forever.
How do we fix Guard for 11th edition?>inb4 stop playing them
>>98657544Yeah, they don't need anything.Tacticals are just same thing as intercessors now. And assault intercessors shouldn't even be a separate thing either. It should just by Intercessor squad + heavy intercessor squad. That's it.
>>98657544But you get 1 multi-Melta that hits on 5s in the new cover system! Totally worth being 25 points more expensive than Marines! And for 125 points for four 1 wound multi-melta girls that also hit on 5s! Now compare that 105 points for 5 Flash Gitz.
>>98657426>and the sweet girl who plays them at my lgshave you asked her how big her cock is
>>98657558I don't know. Give them 4 more kill teams?
Wtf are these, Termagants got new weapons?
>>98657559Buffing Sisters is actually quite simple, you give us the Psychic phase with every unit being a minimum Level 1 Psycher. That's the only change we really need.
>>98657518This legit bothers me. Looking at the Ork codex they have so many easy as fuck ways to ignore cover. 45pts for a Mek that attaches to all the good units for ignores cover is insane.Ignoring cover should be much harder to do, squishy armies absolutely need it to not get blown off the board t1/t2 by any mild shooting.
>>98657380Yep we need fucking buffs>No anti tank besides Vahl + Paragons (which is why this combo is in EVERY SINGLE Battle Sister list)>Even meltas will wound marines only with 3s. Two editions ago meltas wounded tanks on 3s and now they wound tanks on 5s and marines on 3s>Our regular guns will wound marines on 5s soon>Intercessors will wound us with 2s>11th edition transport destruction rules mean that Rhinos are far riskier since we lose a sister on 1s and 2s now rather than just 1s in 10th if the Rhino is knocked out
>>98657518>SM's hit on 2's in most cases>Now wound T3 on 2's as wellLmao
>>98657570>The word comes from a fictional deity named Termagant (or Tervagant). During the Middle Ages, European Christians mistakenly believed that Muslims worshipped this violent, boisterous god. The character frequently appeared in medieval plays and puppet shows wearing long robes. Because of the theatrical costume and the loud, aggressive behavior of the character, the name shifted by the 17th century to describe a similarly loud and domineering person, usually a woman.Neat.
>>98657426>FNPAhhh the good old days of Valorous Hearts. I liked them due to having the 6+ FNP while everyone else spammed Bloody Rose.
>>98657581Harridan is similar too.
>>98657585Ebon Chalice bros… always forgotten
>>98657541>you don't want to play the naked squid head guy? GAYI despite C'tan faggots

>>98657588so is "faggot"
Kino
>>98657594I mean, you do kind of need it. And it will pay for itself in entertainment value. And you've spent money in stupider ways before. Really there's no reason not to do it.
>>98657594Buy it, convince your friends to play older editions and bad touch your opponent by casting psy powers that put their units into ongoing reserves without their consent.
>>98657595Sure thing!>Wounds vehicles on 5's, does D3+1 damage
>>98657576But seriously the no anti tank is the worst thing about our faction since 10th edition. Our only shooting that is above S10 is HKMs and those are one shot only. And our only melee above S10 are Paragon Maces.Like please GW give us a Sister Land Raider so we can have Lascannons. Or since we have our versions of Razorback, Predator and Whilrwind give us a Sister version of the Vindicator.
>>98657616Hell yeah the Cyclops has returned.
>>98657594You can 3d print all the models it contains for the price of a McDonalds Big Mac Meal and still get to assemble the models by hand if you're into that.GW makes mostly shitty monopose sloppa these days.Eldar are kinda ass this edition and getting worse in favor of marine wankers.
>>98657619Anon sisters is an aesthetics armyYou pick it when you want to lose but look cool doing it
>>98657346>What 11th edition changes are you hoping GW makes to your army when your factions codex drops? If the unit costs change, they only go down or at least balance on my lists because I plan to slowly build this army to 750, 1000 and then 2000.
>tfw became such an obnoxious shitposter that most of the general has filtered me out
>>98657594Skyreaver's aren't all that great and that gives you 10. I'd rather pick up the Corsair combat patrol box that comes with the falcon instead of the vyper. Falcon will always be useful in any Eldar list. You'd have to pick up Yriel separately but that's ok.
>>98657595Sounds like you want orks
>>98657576And instead of reduction the cost of other units to make them seem more attractive, james spiked the cost of vahl and paragons! But they had to make sure the sob didn't hurt the marinepiggies too often, so they taxed our sacrosanct + hospitaller bricks, and COMPLETELY REMOVED celestine's ability to revive d3 bodyguard units! Can't have the sisters being in any way durable now!
>>98657639That reminds me I need to strip and repaint my falcons. ....I'll just do it after completing my pile of shame....yeah. any day now....
>>98657645Yep and Celestine didn't even get point reductions for losing the ability to revive Seraphim or Zephyrim that she's attached to. Celestine basically lost her 4+ FNP and now lost the ability to revive her bodyguard units but she still costs the same.
>that one anon at your lgs that cant stop buying and changing armies, never gets anything painted, has zero impulse control
>>98657595God I need Repentia that. Lunge mines are my favorite Bolt Action unit
>>98657659Nothin wrong with being a collectorOne of my friends is like this
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
>>98657594Corsairs lost a lot of luster for me once I actually looked at the rules and realized it was just a detachment for a keyword with two units and two named HQs.
>>98657666As long as he paints his models. Seeing the same person with a different greytide army every few months is upsetting
>>98657659
>>98657580With their 1 attack firing mode which is D2, completely wasted into T3 models.
>>98657630> tfw the really good Russian recaster I used in the past is now selling super clean professional scans of all eldar stuff, including dragon knights> don't have a printer> It would cost me something like $700-$1000 CAD to get a decent brand new print set up, including wash/cure, peripherals, tent, etc> maybe even cheaper if I can find a good deal on something usedSo ~1300 points of the army I want would cost me $1200 CAD retail, at a discount store too. It's very fucking tempting to just splurge on the print setup. I'm still going to buy certain kits retail anyway, and especially old metal versions of my favorite units, but I think I'm just gonna get a print setup. GW lost the plot on pricing.
>>98657678They'll probably get some leader/buff/stratagem to correct that.
>>98657683Making up things to get mad at again.
>>98657645Sisters aren't doing that bad but I'm with you on the bullshit that is these marine buffs.GW seems to want everyone to run mass melta but goes shocked Pikachu.jpg when melta/at also kills marines because they're too stupid to realize that having the average statline in the game be a marine means any competent army has to kill marines or be some useless background army for the marine player to slaughter to enable his power fantasies. GW of course deciding that turning non marine factions into npc cannon fodder is cringe but they're too far up their own ass to realize anyone other than space marine players want to have fun in their game.
>>98657659Thats my buddy, just buys the most powerful army at the time. Maybe primes them, never paints more than a model or two. Basically has an entire LGS of unbuilt boxes at his house because the rules move faster than him (but not his wallet)
Played my first game of 11th last night, went up against my votann buddy at 2k points this time.Went with classic deffskullz theming this time instead of my usual Stuntie Smashaz list, meaning Madcap Meks, dread mob, and Wreckaz were my detachments for maximum "looting vehicles to build vehicles" theme. If his army looks small (aside from being dwarves) it's because he had a good chunk of hearthguard in deepstrike.
>>98657671They're really fun sculpts though. Great for kitbashing too. I'm going to make upgraded Dire Avengers with a box of the new guardians and bits from the voidreavers box. Something like picrel but using the corsair guns.
>>98657688>the bullshit that is these marine buffs. They lost Oath and are going up in points 10-20% but faggots have already decided they're OP based on a couple of okay datasheets and gravis detachments.
>>98657521>oink oink oink squeeee!Marinepiggies never cease to amaze me. They squeal out in pain as they hit and wound on 2's.
>>98657697good god
>>98657685Gravis are now Move-Shoot-Move machines that are wounded by Gladiators on 3s and lascannons on 4s with a relic. GW has lost the plot
>>98657672Yeah he’s always painting his shitBut he also has a huge pile of shit he hasn’t painted lolAnd he’s always buying more despite having a huge pile
Ahhh nooo Intercessors wont fall over to a stiff breeze anymore and bolters actually do something I'm going insaaaaaaame why gw
>>98657698I hope your orks won :D
>>98657697We both had a boring turn 1, and for the first time ever since 9th edition I didn't call my Waaaaghh!! on turn 2. Using some strats, enhancements, and Warboss abilities I was able to get key units riled up to get that bonus, meaning I was able to hold off until his key units arrived to call my main Waaaghh!.... unfortunately, though, 2 of those 3 key units failed their charges and were left out in the open this turn.
>>98657706Don't worry we'll get to the point where bolters won't do anything and we'll have to buff them again. S8 bolters might do the trick.
>>98657697Cool looking game man>>98657701He’s still going lol
>>9865769910% more points when you go from hitting me on 3s to 2s and wounding me on 3s to 2s. While I go from wounding you on 4s to 5s. That is worth way more than 10%.
>>98657698I really like the bits that the corsairs KT had. If I were to do a corsairs army, I'd just buy a box or two of corsairs for the bits alone, and make normal CWE units look corsair-y.Could also just do that with deldar now that I think of it.
>>98657708seems like you're gonna get your shit pushed in
>>98657697Well you seem to be playing on official layouts except you're not using the right foot prints, you're using the retarded clear ones that everyone got into using in 10th
>>98657682More and more people are figuring this outEventually the micro-economy of models/miniatures will probably readjust itself because of more and more people going over to 3-D printingWhen an entire 3-D printing set up costs the same as a single army of course people are going to choose to do that instead because then they can just have as many armies as they want
>>98657594Hahah look at them gay ass fairy faggots flying around with their butterfly wings!
>>98657594Not going to dissuade you I did buy it since it looked too cool. Alongside Realspace Raiders for Deldar. Couldn't resist daydreaming about my Corsair focused Craftworld. Saw some cheaper option show up and pulled the triggerI really shouldn't have, I have enough unfinished projects already for fucks sakeBut bits look cool. Already had Kill Team Corsairs, some random deldar and other craftworld stuff. I now have tons of customization options for elves at least, that's what I'm saying to myself hahaAnd the best thing? I have 3d printer and still buy GW models in an addition to printing. I really, really didn't need to buy those two
>>98657708As it turns out, meganobz got one hell of a glow-up this edition. I had 2 units of 5 with a big mek and Warboss leading one of each. The big mek had an enhancement to keep the unit riled up all game, meaning both units had -1 to AP against them and +1 to hit all game.I had both units completely out in the open against a massive chunk of his shooting and I'll be damned, both of them took very minimal losses. He killed my deff dreads, dakkarig (new model syndrome), and a trukk but the meganobz, breaka Boyz, and tankbustas were alive and well for my upcoming turn 3. Very bad position for him to be in.>>98657719You'd think that, wouldn't you? I certainly did.>>98657721The store has 1 set of the actual footprints in-house, and they were in use by another table. We had to make do with what we had.
I feel like eldar propaganda is being posted right now. And it's working.
>>98657714On top of that, traditional anti-marine weapons have suffered, but hey at least everything's free.
>>98657699They got a different army wide special rule. Stop phrasing it like they lost anything Marinefag. Everyone else gets to feel even more useless than before as their guns get worse and worse while gw endlessly buffs marine durability and damage output to the fucking moon. Shit feels miserable to fight if you've played for more than like 2 editions and going to T5 is fucking stupid.
>98657713>say stupid thing>"Wow, someone responded lol"
>>98657581I get that the idea behind naming Tyranids after various obscure words for "nasty woman" is because they're technically an all-female species but it is kinda funny.
>>98657731With my main vehicle-killers pushing into his gun line, with the proper Waaagh!! in effect, he lost both land fortresses, his kapricus, half of his steeljacks, and all but 1 of his thunderkyn. All that was left were his deep strikers to come in next turn, half a unit of steeljacks, and some warriors.
>>98657359You will furnish me with more pictures of that Whirlwind, without delay.
He’s ghost replying now lolEldar players are so sensitive
>>98657723I'm lucky because I have the space to have a decent setup, and I have time currently to actually fiddle with it. I can understand someone who has neither just buying stuff from GW...or from other people who have 3D printers.
>>98657740His turn 3 and my turn 4 sealed the game. His hearthguard came down and eliminated a unit of tankbustas (the other unit failed their charge against my MANz/Warboss unit) to take center ground from me. However, my follow-up turn had one of his hearthguard units destroyed by the meganobz they failed to charge, and the steeljacks finally going down against the other unit of MANz they were locked into combat with.Essentially, he only had 1 unit of hearthguard left on the board, so he conceded here.We got to witness an admech player have a small meltdown over the game he was playing against Orks on the other side of the store. Favorite quote was "why do all of your Orks have better shooting than me? What is this shit?" Which I have to agree with. My own performance was disgusting this game.
>>98657707Orks always win, anon. Even when edition creep puts them in a rough spot, Orks are just fun, and having fun is the most important victory of all. It's most of the reason why Ork players don't get mad at the I LIEK ORKS ECKS DEE shitposter. We just unironically agree that we do, in fact, like Orks.
>>98657629>returnedDON'T CALL IT A COMEBACKI'VE BEEN HERE FOR YEARS
>>98657605I still prefer those older Stormtrooper models, very nice. The Sergeant with the Boltgun strapped across his chest was my favorite.
>>98657751>We got to witness an admech player have a small meltdown over the game he was playing against Orks on the other side of the storethen the real victory was the friends we made along the way>>98657753based and cooljpilled
>>98657751So, it was a complete Ork victory. Fun game, but definitely noticing some potential issues with the codex. Just a lot of good shooting I don't feel like I'm supposed to have, and good gosh meganobz are absolute beasts this edition. A permanent -1 AP and the ability to have +1 to hit all game means they were basically custodians, hitting and wounding on 2s all game and barely able to die.My new dakkarig was able to kill 1 unit before he got new model syndromed to death, though. So that's nice.
how much model overlap could I squeeze out of eldar and deldar, if I try to kitbash corsair-y versions of their infantry? Guardians and kabalite warriors are definitely doable (though I'd need the turret still).
>>98657751Thank you for the bat rep. I like that your orks won! :D Beautiful models on both sides. Also I don't blame the Ad Mech guy lmao. I had an internal melty the other day vs Orks too.
I'm actually pretty disappointed with half the fucking codex focusing on gravis. I hate gravis. I hate how they look and how the units work and I fucking hate 3 man squads. And now that they've squatted devastators, I have no way of running half of the heavy weapons and no anti tank outside of vehicles. That transport detachment better have an upgrade for drop pods that lets them be fucking viable for once.
>>98657751>We got to witness an admech player have a small meltdown over the game he was playing against Orks on the other side of the store.I just feel sorry for this guy. I play ad mech and oftentimes it feels like you jump through tons of hoops just to do what other armies get for existing. Feels like they kneecapped shooting with 4+ BS on top of the bizarreo army rules. Fucking nonsense.
>>98657776The future is bright. The Omnissiah told me.

XenosCHADS, are you going to decline playing against the marinepiggies when their codex rules go live? >>98657819that’s true. I’ve thought about it, and I think I’ll begin saying “mutant” instead cause I’m quite fond of the other space wolves posters.
>>98657570the termagants in the leviathan box, and some other stuff, only come with fleshborers (the little boltguns with a fleshy magazine that they hold with both hands).the actual full kit for termagants comes with the other weapons, pairs of spinefists (akimbo pistols) for every gaunt, or a devourer (the cone with holes) for every gaunt, plus one spike rifle (the harpoon launcher), one shardlauncher (the biggest cannon in there), and one strangleweb (the horsecock gun).of these weapons the fleshborers, spinefists and devourers were also present in the previous kit, while the spike rifle and the horsecock existed at different points either just in the form of rules or associated with very old 2nd edition metal models.

All those cluttered details might make it hard to read for an average guy but if you pay attention to the actual people painted there, you will notice this is NOT professional quality. It looks like something out of early Warhammer, yet it clearly was commissioned recently. I am surprised GW was so cheap that they couldn't hire an actual professional for one of the first paintings in the contemporary Codex, a multibillion company certainly can afford to pay $1000 for a nice painting to some pro

Does anyone know where to find the rules for this I think narrative matchup. It may have been community created I don't know. I remember going into my LGS and they had this rules printed there back in 8th edition. It was basically an ambush scenario. One of the players is the ambusher and the other one is the target. The ambusher has 20% more units than the target. The ambusher would set up from the two long table edges. While the target would set up at the edge of the table. The target needs to get their units at the other table edge and once they are beyond that edge they are removed from the battlefield. If the target is able to get more than 50% of their units (in terms of points) out they win. If the ambusher is able to destroy more than 50% of the targets units they win.Anyone played this mode ever?

>>98658988Crusade has had a couple of scenarios like that, but it doesn't usually have a point disparity so much as forcing you to deploy in weird places or keep part of your army in reserve. I think I remember one in 10th edition and there might have been one in 9th Edition as well though it was part of one of the supplements and I forget which. But as the other Anon said, it's usually fine to just make up your own fun scenarios and play them out as long as you have someone willing to play them out with you for fun.

Guard players, I am new to GW and their ways, what do we think the risks of buying Catachan Heavy Weapons Squads before the star army codex drops are cause they did survive the start of 11th?
>>98659761Sisters struggle with anti-tank in terms of repeated uses.Melta units (Dominions, Retributors) are all t3w1 and therefore incredibly squishy, meaning you get 1 chance to do a jump-out on something before said unit of meltas dies, so you have issues against tankspam (ie guard, who can fit 13 LR tanks into 2000 points right now). The only anti-tank options that have any amount of staying power in the SoB roster are Morvenn Vahl-led Paragon suits (which is why they're in EVERY list, and even then they're still rather squishy) and slightly-underpowered Castigators (s10ap-1 shooting at t12 vehicles most of the time).Meltas are slowly becoming an anti-marine weapon as well due to stat bloat. You can manage into a Russ (t11) still, but into a Land Raider (t12) or something else at that value it starts to get rough.>>98659850Moderately high for the entire Catachan line, I'd be cautious unless I were collecting or finishing a Catachan list to justify the sunken cost. They dropped Predators, Vindicators the Razorback and Centurions despite the edition starting, anything is on the chopping block and Catachans are the oldest ones in the Guard list that have easy replacements already in production.

Catachans as a whole aren't a big seller for guard currently, and each of their options has a sidegrade in Cadians (the current guard push) so I can't see GW intentionally keeping Catachans around. They also promised a Steel Legion refresh in a few years, so they're itching to scrap *something* from the guard list to shorten it up.
>>98659914The fact that they released the Spectre Recon team as Cadians instead of Catachans is probably a bad sign for the jungle boys if we're being honest, but I could also see GW getting that release out of the way first before also doing a big Catachan refresh so they can double-dip and get people to buy both.

>>98659935Yeah I'm gonna go into stuff like artillery teams and all the sentinels I want and leave the other three HWS who can use mortars till last while hoping for a refresh, it'd be a shame to lose cool looking Rambo models
>>98659313750 -> 1000 -> 2000 is what most people are doing for progression. I think 750 is a good sweet spot for starting.
>>98659939>Molten metalYou're insane but I respect it. I also prefer metal. I think your best bet is coins in the base, yes.
>>98659954Yeah but most combat patrols don't give you 750 points worth of stuff. They seem to want to use their own army rather than use one of my three 2k+ point armies, which I offered to just let him use one of them for a game.
>>98659957I mean I would do it but it would just melt the model so not going to work. Part of me considers getting the tools so I can recast stuff in metal and then just straight up recasting the plastic models in metal. Has anyone ever tried that?Plus some of my metal models in my armies are becoming very very expensive and I need more of them for my armies to be complete.
I think marines losing Oath is a nerf. People take it for granted because everyone plays marines and we're used to it. It's full rerolls to hit and +1 to wound. It's actually insane, and is stronger than a good number of other army's rules. That being said, I am worried about the changes. As others have said, increasing points costs by a measly amount means they have like one less unit on the field, which is more than worth it to have +1 S and +1 T and better guns. In the past I said "Don't worry, points costs will balance it" but recently the more I think about it, the more I realize that like 1, maybe 2 fewer units don't make up for significant stat increases. It is still a net buff.Their new rule is basically scoot+shoot or scoot+charge or fall back+act, which is one of the three parts of Gladius detachment just as an army rule now, and so that frees up more detachment choices rather than everyone taking Gladius. I think this is a fine change. More choice is good. But I think it is overall a nerf. Having Oath as an army rule and taking Gladius is stronger than having Gladius as an army rule and taking some other detachment. Most detachments are weaker than Oath. So we hope that this is what actually offsets the stat buffs, not just points increases. Marines won't be full rerolls to hit every single turn, they'll do something else that is weaker.I'm pretty unbiased since I play several armies and I don't really identify with marines as my main one. I am interested in a balanced experience for everyone. I want GW to update other armies faster rather than having some people wait a year+, and I want every army to be as close to 50% win rate as possible. But I also believe that win rate isn't everything. For example, a book can be oppressive and unfun to play against, but still lose half their games since the opponent abandons fighting and just scoots around with Recon missions. That's still an unhealthy, unfun game. But GW might say "look, healthy 50% win rate".
>>98659974Go for it. Just keep an eye out for james' corporate death squads.
>>98659986Yeah I don't fucking care
I plan on basing my Cadian Tank Army on the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich with historically accurate decals, camo, and markings. Wish me luck.
>>98660002Yeah we know you are decalfag
>>98659986that's the reasonable take and that's how I feel as well. we'll have to wait and see the extent of the points increase and how much losing oath really matters. maybe it will all be fine.
>>98660002Good luck chad, HH.
>>98660012That guy doesn't even have models. Let lil bro chud out all over the place I say. If the execution is good then it's fine in my book.
>>98659897I give all my nightlords green soul weapons, I think its cool.
>>98660002>>98660025As a genuine Nazi I think it's a little boring to do exact historic accuracy with 40k, the hallmark of the setting is that you mix different historical periods and cultures and put them through this tens of thousands of years future filter IIIN SPAAACE to make something new. Inspired by and evoking Panzer Division aesthetics and heraldry? Yes cool. But add something else alongside it, don't just do a 1:1 rip of one point in history.
>>98659935>Spectre Recon team as Cadians instead of CatachansThey could have been literally any other regiment (Tanith, perhaps?) and it'd be more welcome than more Cadians, but GW doesn't care about what the consumer actually wants.I honestly don't see Catachans getting a refresh at all. They're very far from the current pop culture zeitgeist, there's not much demand for them beyond metagaming with 3 more HWS in your army. Plus they promised Steel Legion, so *if* Catachan are getting new models, they're at least 2nd in line, most likely 3rd-5th in line behind:>Steel Legion (confirmed to be coming)>Valhallans>Vostroyans>ElysiansAnd it's not likely that we get any of these following the SL within a decade of right now.If the SL models are a kill team instead of a full model line I'm going to be *rather* cross with GW and their insistence on antagonizing their customers.
>>98660039Steel Legion genuinely don't need anything but a single infantry kill team and an upgrade kit for the closed-compartment Basilisk though.
>>98659965No, but playing with the contents of a combat patrol is really gay, you don’t get any vehicles or monsters.
>>98660002Mine are based on the 36th Waffen Grenadier Division
>>98660052>you don’t get any vehicles
>>98660066Noticing the way GW takes the photo from a corner angle so you see some of the models on the side of the box and it creates the illusion there's more of them, like restaurants using mirrors to make their interiors look bigger and more impressive.
>>98659986yeah that's all true but I still don't have faith in gw. they're going to make something too good and it will be lame for everyone else for a few months
>>98660066I hope we get a better combat patrol this time round gsc bros
>>98660043Unless they get a detachment like Scions have that makes them battleline and gives them a gimmick for jumping into and out of Chimeras, they should be a battleline unit by default.Making them battleline would also open us up to so many nice things, like>Chimera refresh>Steel Legion HWS that has a unique-to-it not!MG42 tripod-mount multi-las and not!Panzerfaust missile launchers>single character officer so you can have a leader ride around in the Chimera with the Legionnaires>Basilisk refresh because that model is a 2004 re-tool of a 1995 kit and it really needs one>actual melee guard (that also has explosives) in Armageddon Ork HuntersI don't want Yarrick and 30 boys to be all I get in a 2k point game. I want to *actually* play Steel Legion again.
>>98660081>Nooticer nootices this but doesn't nootice that the factual number of models included is also printed plain as day on the box>>98660089I know it's rough to compare to the one that came with a truck, but this one also had 10 acolytes, and anything offering acolytes at a discount has value for collecting the army.
Abaddon is a sympathetic character. He's a smart guy who is just using chaos to help his brothers overthrow a tyrant.
>>98660081you may be retardedthis line of thinking also leads you to defend GW replacing the sick art on boxes with shitty pictures instead so stop that
>>98660098ADB pls go, your writing is terrible and you will never make abadabbadingdong an interesting or sympathetic character no matter how hard you dickride the cunt.
>>98660101Other people have written Abaddon.
>>98660031That is cool
