How big of an ego does your character have?

Bigger than the crippling compression you ran that .jpg through

The most ego I've ever had a character have, scaled from "a bit pompous" to "delusions of grandeur that aren't delusions of divinity only because arcane and divine magic are separate and he considers the former *stronger*" to "suddenly without ego as he shucks off self to become a creature of purpose"

>setting where all mages go slowly insane
>pick a specific insanity and as your power grows, you are consumed more by that specific madness
>created a mage whose insanity was "solve problems with magic"
>eventually this would progress to "magic is the solution to all problems"
>grows increasingly sure he is the answer to everything
>repeated brushes with both death and the Insane Mage Killer inquisitors
>In his last weeks, reached a state of tranquillity where there was no room for anything but a calm certainty
>went down casting an intensely powerful area-destroying spell on a giant monster which had been dropped on the world as a distraction by a force of evil, taking out the distraction so that everyone else could focus on solving and stopping said force of evil's plans
>that spell was a pure-arcana black hole with no answer, and his actual goals were both to kill the monster with it and to glimpse the skin of reality from the outside, one of the few things nobody could do and live, on the off-chance that the memory of this survived the scouring of reincarnation. Get the information about how the cosmos works into the great machine of rebirth.
>whether that comes to fruition, we'll never know, but his last moments were a glimpse of the unseen and the knowledge that he'd outdone every mage in living memory.
>damn it feels good to be a caster

It's been a long time since that guy, but I have never been able to bring myself to play a Pompous Egotistical Wizard type since then because I spent years plumbing the entire archetype, top to bottom, and had a great time doing it.

Just stared a campaign last weekend where one of the dice rolls tells you what your personality is a part of your background, and mine turned out to be Prideful Arrogant and Aloof, so first time meeting everyone I have played it as "I'm so much better than everyone here" so far, but I'll see how the game goes.

>Prideful Arrogant and Aloof
Sounds like a High Elf
