Do you have any noble goblins in your game setting?
>>

I just use goblins in a land largely analogous to India.
>Land was inhabited by goblins
>Human nomads came in and conquered them
>Set up caste system but still intermixed
>Human-descended goblins are hobgoblins, around a 50/50 mix
>Lower castes have little to no human blood

You do know that there is no necessarily genetic difference between castes in India right? It's a largely social construct ("largely" because, yes it's based on your lineage, but why that lineage gets picked on is almost totally independent of any actual genetic reasons)

Maybe some board games like Ludo or Some card games or at best like monopoly and very rarely Catan. Also Chess, which is pretty damn popular.

For TRPGs, there's the rare D&D 5e group in metropolitan areas which are usually extremely dysfunctional, and it's impossible to find or start any game whatsoever for any other system at all unless you goad college kids who know nothing about the hobby by telling them, "We're playing D&D like they do in Stranger Things" and then proceed to not play D&D, but the longevity is abysmal in any case. So, the only real choice is to play online like I do.

The wargaming scene is completely non existent.

Nope. They're nomadic kleptomaniacs with no true understanding of ownership. Whoever's the tallest and/or strongest is the tribe leader and they're only capable of making more goblins. You nut in a goblin? She gives birth to a goblin. You let a goblin nut in you? You're giving birth to a goblin in a few month. They even avoid towns because they either all get lost and separated or killed for just stealing anything they find interesting.

>no necessarily genetic difference between castes
>yes it's based on your lineage
That's genetic difference, my poo-stained brother. You can say the original reasons for those lineages being assigned as lower caste or higher caste weren't explicitly ethnic, but over many generations it becomes ethnic as the castes don't mix, and those who do get raped to death. What you're describing is just the excuse the Indian state uses to not get criticised as being massive racists on the world stage.

>lineage isn't genetic

>>
>>98690015
That's not entirely true. You're right that caste is fundamentally a social and cultural construct, however there are measurable genetic differences between them today as a result of small founder populations and strict inbreeding since. This is well recognised in the literature, look at the prevalence patterns of thallasaemia or pseudocholinesterase deficiency if you want an example.

My settings treats goblins like a kind of gibbon after too many of my previous players got distracted by trying and failing to integrate them, but there are still technically noble goblins in that some have been raised from birth as pets and get dressed up and given rights under the authority of actual sapient races' nobility on an individual basis
They think it funny, and it is, but goblins aren't capable of the degree of higher thought required to hold actual positions of distinction outside their own troop's internal hierarchy.
>>
>>98689325
in my rpg settings? nah, gobbos are either tribal or integrated in other societies.

In my lewd art setting? Yeah. sci fi fantasy setting set in a colony ship, it was meant to be a tight operation of maybe a few thousand colonists carrying genetic banks, but for various reasons the ship now its the size of a continent with billions in it, gobbos are everywhere, but the ones who are the descendant of the actual initial crew are considered noble goblins, the rest are all "scum" derived from the vatgrown gobs they had to make for labour a a dozen millennia before.
there is no actual difference but hey who wants that sort of political stuff in porn.

>>
>>98690559
Goblins have been a variety of Elf ever since Tolkein first gave his a background. Arguably, all of Tolkein's baseline Orcs would be considered 'Goblins' in the current meta, since he used the words 'Goblin' and 'Orc' interchangeably, whilst the modern 'Orc' owes more to Tolkein's Uruk-Hai.

That way orcs and goblins go back to being fodder races, but there's now a place for a real green goobers.

>That's genetic difference,
>>98690683
>I'm glad all the doctors we're importing are so well educated
You're missing the key point here, that first of all, the populations are not completely insular, even if they are largely breeding in group. Exceptions are way more common than you think, and it is not a modern thing. Visit a metropolitan Indian workspace or academic setting and try to guess the caste of anyone based on phenotypical differences and see how accurate you are.

Secondly, even besides that, the point is that there was no genetic reason for the selection of those groups, and they have since coexisted in largely the same environment. The differences might be measurable (although between individuals and small random groups it would be a very inaccurate science at best), but they are not meaningful and don't determine anything drastic that can inform a caste system.

Nobody can tell castes at a glance (besides overt cultural differences and some exceptional cases in some regions with different lifestyles/environment, which also predominantly have majority population of a small set of castes), and the differences even when present are rarely meaningful.

>inb4 "ur low caste and coping"
First of all, doesn't matter. Second, I'm jot and I'm only saying this because I know some of you might (retardedly) see being low caste as some sort of disqualification from holding this POV.

>>98692165

>>
>>98692231
We? no. If you want green folk in your setting make green folk. It's just sticking to known fantasy races means you're making something resembling them.

There's already plenty of options if you want to stick to tropes. Hobgoblins are the go to for "goblins but maybe taller, but not big enough to be orcs, or the orcs in our setting are the pig kind".

You don't need to invent a new shared trope fantasy race. There's plenty of variation on everything we already have. In your setting make what you want.
>>
>>98692348
Its just wild how much faggots like this lie.

>the differences might be measurable
Original position is 'no necessary genetic differences". If the differences are measurable there are sufficient genetic differences and that's good enough to refute the first point when your just using necesary as a fig leaf anyway.

These fucking materialist man.
>Oh its all genetics
Oh surely that includes intellgience
>no not that
oh there are smart and dumb dog breeds, why not smart and dumb human breeds?
>Its just not okay, just trust me.
I hate materialists so much man.

>they are not meaningful
So we went from not existing to 'they are not meaningful' again from the materialist who doen't beleive in meaning anyways. Another fig leaf for their real position.

>don't determine anything drastic that can inform a caste system.
I mean it informs skin ccolor, which can inform a caste system. I would argue it informs intelligence and aggression, which can inform a caste system.

So we've gone form 'not necessarily' to sufficient, meanfingfully and informing a caste system. Thanks for admitting your position has been completely overturned, you yourself admitted so and now are attempting to move goalposts due to your complete and utter defeat by reason and just plain observation.

>You're missing the key point here, that first of all, the populations are not completely insular
No, you're missing the point. We're talking about populations and statistics here, the occasional exceptions are not enough to overcome the overall trends. They're not completely insular but they are insular enough, especially when you consider that many of these caste groups have been endogamous for multiple centuries.

>the point is that there was no genetic reason for the selection of those groups
Again, you're misunderstanding the situation. Even if there was no genetic reason for the initial selection of those groups, the pattern of inbreeding since then has been sufficient to result in distinct genetic differences between caste.
For example, the prevalence of pseudocholinesterase deficiency in the general bIndian population is about 1 in 4500, among Arya Vysya it's 1 in 24. That is an objective genetic difference.
>>
>>98692564
The fuck did you get that from. My first post clearly means that the differences that inform the caste system are not genetic. Not that there can be no possible minor genetic variations at all. At no point do I ever contradict my original position.

>I mean it informs skin ccolor
It absolutely does not involve skin color. It's absolutely anecdotal but I have relatives ranging from completely dark brown to almost completely clear white in my close family (My 1st cousins and my parent's siblings and first cousins), My 3 maternal grandfathers who are brothers, married my 3 maternal grandmothers who are sisters from a nearby village of and of same community. Slightly different but similar story for my paternal grandparents and I have met absolutely many many dark savarnas (a term for 'high' castes in common lingo), and light skinned harijans (likewise for 'lower' castes), and they are not the exception and I bet you most of them have a very high variance in skin colors within their somewhat close family.

You have to be extremely fucking propaganda fed and delusional if you think that you'd be able to make anything better than a 50-50 guess (or however the skin color curve goes), on whether they're of some particular caste, within a randomized group of Indians from the same region. Why do you guys feel like you know everything about a place halfway across the world from you and that it's social dynamics revolve around the exact same thing yours do?

Caste System is much more around cultural differences and propogated beliefs rather than skin color. My immediate family's(parents, me and my sibling) closest neighbors and I are generally of the same skin tone, and yet our communities(Jats and Rajputs) have some of the most notable caste friction between them in the state (even though yes our particular families are practically fraternally close).
>>
>>98694810
There is discrimination against dark skinned people here, yes, but dark skin is not exclusive or even more common in one caste over another in the same region/environment.

What I mean by "meaningful" difference here is literally anything you can notice with the naked eye. Sure, there will be minor genetic patterns that will 'technically' be more prevalent in some communities, but I bet you my minimum wage that those differences would almost purely be just technicalities that would never be noticed or useful in any way.
>>
>>98689325
Not officially listed as nobles but yes.
Goblin women are born 1 in 20 births but goblins have a 4 month pregnancy. A goblin maid hasn't had any children, a goblin mother directly owns her male children, and a goblin matron directly owns her female children and all of her kids. They tend towards large caravans of traders and professional work like smiths, woodworking, script, mining, harvesting, etc. The oldest matrons have hundreds of directly owned work force.
>>
>>98694788
>We're talking about populations and statistics here, the occasional exceptions are not enough to overcome the overall trends. They're not completely insular but they are insular enough, especially when you consider that many of these caste groups have been endogamous for multiple centuries.
Again, like I said it's not as rare as you think, especially with migrant families and individuals that have historically settled in with new identities when migrating. My maternal side(We are Jats(Closely related to whom you may know as Al Zutts)), descends from Sumros of Sindh which were NOT Jats before as another anecdotal example. And some of my uncles'/aunts' spouses' families have similar stories.

The endogamy is very prevalent but there is a solid amount of people marrying between castes and it has been that way historically. I'm not arguing the rest because yes, minor genetic variances will almost certainly exist, but
1. The dogmatic endogamous form of caste divide is really not that old, spanning maybe 40-50 generations at best on the long side, or 5-6 centuries, usually lower. It has not been as long as you think it has been with the endogamy being practiced in majority of the population.
2. We just have a lot of fucking genetic diversity dude, and family names are often not enough to determine castes, and many families aren't sure even today. A lot of family names can be literally anything, I know Bhatis who are Jats, Bhatis who are Rajputs, Gurjars, Jutts, Harijans, those who don't know what they are, anything you name it. Paired that with the fact that we did an do not marry within our community (people we share a village/dhani with or people sharing any of our 4 Gotras), you'll find that matching castes is an inexact and highly variant pursuit.
3. Many castes tolerate certain communities technically 'outside' caste based on a lot of things for marrying in. We have regular pathways of genetic mobility between different castes in the same regions.
>>
>>98694788
>>98695089
You don't know shit about our social dynamics, stop pretending lmfao.

I'm not saying any of this in defense of any of this btw(although yes I do support marrying outside your local community and Gotras, that's just good for genetic variety), just telling you how this shit actually is. I am absolutely not a fan of the discrimatory caste system.
>>
>>98689325

>For example, the prevalence of pseudocholinesterase deficiency in the general bIndian population is about 1 in 4500, among Arya Vysya it's 1 in 24. That is an objective genetic difference.
A couple of different things to address here. Firstly, yeah I don't really see an issue on this being true for any particular caste who are more endogamous in a particular region. But even then, secondly, you do realize that Aryan Vaisyas are not a caste right? Taking what you're saying as true in the first place, you are literally taking what is likely a genetic group and comparing it to the general population for a genetic purpose.

"Vaisyas" don't exist in modern caste hierachy. Only Brahmins and some Kshatriyas even still hold to the originak varna classification, "Vaisyas" and "Shudras" are not real caste classifications anymore. Barring a few communities that might be placed under those banners (notably, Baniyas are said to be mercantile), those are meaningless terms.

would need the source of that statistic to clear the air, but what likely happened if it's real is unfamiliar western researchers who don't know the Indian Caste System polled a bunch of people in the same region who would agree to be classified under this "Aryan Vaisya" category from a certain region and then compared them to a general population. That category likely involves people from a lot of different actual modern castes.

As stated in the first point though, even if this were true of a particular real caste/community, that wouldn't surprise me or run counter to anything I said anyway. 1/4500 vs 1/24 difference is plausibly something that exists because of a strand that gets passed on more often within a community, than out of it especially if the caste is minor and localized(which most castes in India are btw. There is no unified 'high' caste or 'low' caste. There's tonnes of each), and is exactly the kind of minor differences in small chunks of population I'm talking about.
>>
>>98695089
>>98695100

>>
>>98689325
Indeed I do have goblin aristocracy in my "Age of Sigmar" campaign (to be retconned next year when the Mortal Realms are blown up to form the new Battleworld). The deep, dark forests of the Kingdom of Othwe are home to a long-lost realmgate connecting Ghur to Ghyran. By ancient decree, each side of the realmgate is guarded by the goblin monarchs, Cha'aw and Chu'um. Legend tells of the psychedelic mushroom beer brewed by Sigmar during his time in Ghyran centuries ago, which grants the imbiber access to the Spirit Realm. Some kingdoms have despatched expeditions to find the hidden grove of the shamen who guard this lost recipe. These outlanders must perform the sacred Dance of the Goblins before they are allowed to enter. The goblin tribes of Ghyran have a saying: "Expand your mind and expand your butthole, too." One of the most powerful of the goblin shamen is Trogath the Seer.

>try to guess the caste of anyone based on phenotypical differences and see how accurate you are
Try to guess the difference between the hutus and tutsis based on phenotypic differences and see how accurate you are, that doesn't change that they are distinct ethnicities discriminating on distinctly ethnic lines for distinctly ethnic reasons. Again, how it started does not suddenly excuse what it actually is, and a handful of metropolitan cities having more liberal ideas about it doesn't change how it is applied in the vast majority of India which isn't made up of those metropolitan liberalised big cities.
>>
>>98692231
>People have had issues with less monstrous Orcs AND Goblins for years now
This is where exceptions and rules come in. The rule is orcs and goblins are more tribalistic and barbaric but there are exceptions who are more intelligent and/or chill who integrate into more civilised cultures, they're just lesser in number. In the same way humans are the industrious civilisation builders taking over from the ruins of older, long-dead civilisations, but also there are groups of tribal, barbaric humans in this other particular region. Elves are insular, noble, and prejudiced, but also some elves live in the woods in bumfuck nowhere and like to travel about.

The issue isn't less monstrous orcs or goblins existing, the issue is when people like WotC start saying, "Monstrous orcs/goblins are problematic so we can't have them anymore," and then make all of them gay hippies.

>highborn goblin is either just an orc or a green elf
Yeah, because if you intermingle with more intelligent, taller creatures, eventually those genes are going to start presenting in your offspring over thousands of thousands of millions of years, and soon enough you'll see green-skinned elves as a result of goblins raping their babies into female elves. In a species that breeds as fast as goblins, the amount of time it would take for evolution to take its course would be drastically shorter, some tens of thousands of years, maybe 100 thousand at most.
>not even trying to do a hobgoblin thing
Because it doesn't make sense. When you mix a Goblin (Short green humanoid with pointy ears) and an Elf (Tall pale humanoid with pointy ears) you'd get something like that after several generations. Like I said above, each successive generation of goblin is going to have more elf in it to the point you reach OP's highborn goblins.

Far smarter than their kin, hobgoblins can transform a clan from dangerous nuisance to serious threat in short order. Understanding the need for fortifications, adding traps and defenses to lairs or even building new structures. Their troops go from swarming individuals to trained soldiers and efforts are made to gain armor and higher quality weapons. Rarely, a hobgoblin may survive the loss of their clan or flee from it, and end up living in the shadows of human cities. Over the centuries these have produced their own populations of increasingly civilized goblinoids, recognized as citizens of their nations, even of most are lower class hedonists obsessed with shiny objects. Bearing a spark of mad genius, gremlins are inventors, alchemists and mages driven to push the boundaries of their fields, but lacking any self preservation instincts in such research means most are forced to work far from the cities of their birth to protect everyone else from the inevitable cataclysms that end 99% of gremlin lives.

Their own, unrelated group, fey goblins are clever tricksters who use the rules of faerie kind to abuse and curse others in their eternal quest for profit and power. Many are servants of greater fey, mischievious border guards playing vile pranks on encroaching mortals or merchants of exotic and often cursed wares.

If you don't like it, leave you puriteen cuck. We all know your micropeen can't get erect so you make it everyone else's problem by pushing censorship like the subhuman faggot you are.

Oh to be a fantasy warlord, conquer a goblin burrow and take half of their women to be sex slaves for me and my soldiers, with the best pick for my exclusive use...

Yep.

Unlikely, but there might be local chiefs that are granted low ranking titles, in return for keeping their rabble from causing trouble. These "civilized" goblin tribes usually live at the edge of civilization serving as a buffer to other critters. They also perform certain trades like rat-catching, tanning hides and other work humans avoid.

Historical precedent indicated ransom to be a more profitable arrangement.

>and other work
Like sucking dick
Goblins infest cities and work as cheap whores sucking dick, often as a gang where the others mug you during/afterward.

BEWARE

Goblins are just fat short stack Latinas

Surely such a setting has achieved world peace?
>>
>>98689325
And do you call them "nobgoblins"?
>>
>>98689325
No.
They are, to paraphrase REH and HPL, ""from ahorrible, non-human branch of the evolutionary tree."
>>
Noble as in aristocratic? I have a few wealthy goblin merchants, artisans, high officials. They're an urban underclass but some of them make it work. And then I've forest goblins who do track lineage, so I guess a large enough tribal goblin confederation ought to have its goblin nobles.

>>98689396
This is a very neat idea. But I don't like the idea of goblin-human interbreeding.
>>
>>98689325
If there are different species of goblin in your world, especially one that’s more “civilized” than the other(s), how did that come about? Did the “noble” goblins come from “regular” goblins being mutated, or vice versa? Or did they just evolve in divergent ways?
>>
These art trends are always so retarded but sometimes you get gems like OP
>>
>>98708276
Goblin human interbreeding is based and patrician though

How fast do your goblins age/how long do they live compared to the other races in the setting, or even between goblin subspecies?

>Do you have any noble goblins in your game setting?
idk I haven't run a campaign in a few years.
To answer your REAL question: scary nerve-wracking sex with the highborn, where she acts like a submissive victim but is actually raping me via coersion and bondage.
Also angry sex with the wild goblin where she acts like a dominant snu-snu amazon, but eventually gets grabbed by the ears and used like a breeding mount.

Goblins were originally part of the rank and file in a fey lord army that was left behind in the world. Were ruled by hobgoblins and established a roman/chinese empire style realm. Other than tribalized expats goblins are actually quite civilized and crafty.

And the hobgoblins hire out mercenary armies with goblin chaff and bugbear shock troops to anyone who is willing to pay the steep price.
