Of course the day I make the new general before work is when /tg/ is too slow to kill a page 8 thread and discussion dries up
I was looking at Emperor, and isn't there a lot of anti-synergy? The cool thing about the bow is that you don't have to avoid shooting your allies, you buff them when you do so. But then you have powerful buffs attached to overshields on tech abilities that you can apply to characters, and then when you hit them with the bow, it makes the buff go away the next turn. It becomes more limiting to use the bow which takes away the upside of it encouraging you to fire into groups and hit your own allies.
i love this little faggot so much you wouldnt believe
>>98696984It's a toolbox, you use the buffs on flankers and you hit the meatshields with the healbow

Is this game fun? I'm a huge mechafag and this seems to be the only real option.
>>98703493It's fun but is both designed for a very particular type of midrange skirmish combat and has a pathetic lack of support for most non-combat/pilot rules. If you like the kind of combat it supports though you'll have a great time.
>>98703493Also its setting is an infuriatingly mediocre clusterfuck written by annoying modern audience losers who have just enough neat ideas to make it sound inspired and original to normies.
>>98703493I'd describe it as a streamlined/baby battletech, with very hand wavy RP elements. Literally need a expansion book to add basic RP mechanics.
>>98706083>streamlined/baby battletechwrong, there's zero battletech in this
>>98703493Great if you want to make time with tgirls, questionable if you want to play a mecha game on tabletop.
>>98698109You really gotta chill out, man.
>>98706128why is that such a big part of the fanbase anyways?
>>98707363Any fanbase of terminally online dudes will eventually have a nontrivial percentage of transgender girls; furries, tabletop games, anime, doesn't matter. Mechs in particular pull them out of the woodwork because if someone already thinks their physical flesh doesn't align with their self-image then the allure of a second skin of perfect metal is very enticing, and Lancer redoubles it by being nominally leftist.
>>98707411>Mechs in particular pull them out of the woodwork because if someone already thinks their physical flesh doesn't align with their self-image then the allure of a second skin of perfect metal is very enticingMecha never at any point had any real attachment to the online pervert faction until specifically AC6 came out and a horde of molested puppyplay fetishists got really horny over the dog/handler themes. And even that is tenuous, they pretty much instantly balkanized to their own fanfic circles when they found out AC6 isn't actually sexual.Lancer just had lots of them because it's an explicitly communist game and that doesn't really need any further explanation.
@98697700you are a tranny sodomite
>>98707448I disagree The majority of the ones I know are big into gundam, battletech and star trek(to a little off- topic degree) and have been so even before AC6I agree with the anon above you that it's more of a 'fusing with metal' thing they wanna do.
>>98707363Idk man, maybe the rulebook can help us here>art of tranny characters>pinups of trannys>the designated good guy faction is a queer trans communist utopia>it's also the most described faction in the bookHmmm... no idea anon.>>98707411>Mechs in particular pull them out of the woodworkHard disagree here, none of them cared about mechs until Battletech became popular and thus another vector by which to push THE MESSAGE and as >>98707448 said AC6 came out along with that one fanfic that started the mechsplotation genre. Prior to that there were pretty much no obvious trannys in the fanbase. It's pretty obvious all of them are "fans" for political or fetish reasons as all the work they produce focuses on one of those lines, or both, with little thought given for the actual mech content. See this game, it's got none of the hallmarks of a mech game and the 'mechs' could be replaced by fantasy characters with no mechanical difference.
>>98707786Don't forget about witch from mercury and the yuritards.
What's the best mech combat system? By best, I mean fast but still strategic, and highly customizable. Idgaf about the roleplay part, I'm going to homebrew that anyway

I always hear people saying there's more to the Manticore than "lmao suicide", but what exactly is that? Does non-castigation Manticore have worth as a unit or are you playing a strictly inferior version of another license?

Ok assholes, im homebrewing some fluffy roll tables for damage location (outside the usual one pc's and npc's with structure get) to enable some shenanigans. so far i got the easy ones down:1: cockpit shots, either annihilates the thing entirely or whats left of the pilot's foot is stuck on the pedal, so the wreck becomes a wandering ramming danger for everyone2)chest shots: either normal chest shot that may or may not give a chance to the pilot to eject, an ammunition explosion thats like way milder version of a reactor meltdown (blast 1 1 or 2 explosive or force people in the area to make a save) to your usual reactor meltdown in a turn.anyone has any fun suggestions for arm and legs shots?was thinking maybe killing an npc with an arm shot gives them a chance to make a wildly inaccurate attack before the pilot eject or something.
>>98710110a neat arm damage could be hitting their wepon, requiring a quick action to fix it or disarming it entirelyfor example John protagonist shoots enemy badguy in the arm and manages to puncture the magazine of his weapon requiring him to reload/get a new battery/unfuck itleg shots logically would be disabling/halving movement until a quick repair is used or some shit
>>98692582i ran part 1 of no room for a wallflower when the game first came out waiting for parts 2 and 3 and as we all know that never happened. I think to remember in the beginning it didn't even have the character pronouns in the rulebook until they appeared to be "the audience" for the game by being loud and making it insufferable for most regular people who were interested (you know, the usual), only to keep using the socials as their tranny hangout and not playing the game in any number that matters to this day.>>98708159>>98708377I still remember way back, when I visited that cesspit one time being interested in the game, and stumbled on the channel where they listed ban reasons, and most of it was "vibes", like a specific one I remember, according to the list, was a guy getting banned for the way he wrote, like that was a sign he was up to no good, and then got unbanned further down after apparently another user vouched for a key on his keyboard simply being broken. Meaning, he was initially banned because a few of his words were missing a letter.

>>98711683>activate SEKHMET and bail out of your mechdoesn't that lead to getting flyswatted by your own mech?
>>98711740see>>98711703as long as you eject 6 spaces away and enemies are within those spaces your mech will attack them rather than youthe only mech that is actually dangerous to bail out of is an Enkidu with an NHP in it, because primal fury will cause them to attack you mid evacuation
>>98711759I'm still pretty sure she can overwatch the shit out of you while you're trying to eject
>>98711712I imagine it'll go like that, I AM playing a former child soldier who considers themselves the wetware of their mech/ just an extension of it and gets angry if you do not call them by their numerical designation/ their current mechs' call sign. Which our company leader found out when they tried to be chummy and called them the name they had before they were kidnapped to be fodder for the meatgrinder. That was a fun interaction.
>>98711765that one depends on if your group lets enemies overwatch you if you eject or notgenerally groups I've been part of have excluded ejecting from being a valid overwatch to avoid it being useless but you could argue either wayin any case, if the mech is currently grappling someone it can't take reactions so you're safe to eject
Can Enkidu only use the plasma talons when it is in rape mode? The description of the ability only says "it rears up and EXTENDS" its plasma talons, which could mean anything from "you can only use them when enraged" to "they gain more range when enraged". I'm assuming it's the former, but I don't see any restriction on the talons themselves, compared to the Lycan's claws which DO have a clause saying they only work in Loud state.

Are Superheavies ever worth it? Aside from the cool factor of course
>>98714481I've seen siege cannon put in a lot of work, 30 range (35 with stabilizers) can easily allow someone to just shoot into the enemy deployment zone turn 1 before they get a chance to move out
>>98714576What about the melee ones?
>>98715863the D/D 288 is mostly for style points, but it is very stylish when it goes off so people are willing to tolerate itthe built-in superheavies are very strong, maybe a bit too strongcombat drill absolutely can work if you have some semi-reliable way of triggering it's activation and there's a bit of a funny thing with the tempest charged blade, usually mechs with heavy slots don't "really" want it, but it has a bit of niche use with the superheavy mounting to turn otherwise defensive mechs into surprising strikers
>>98715940>Tempest BladeAny examples? I think Calendula/Minotaur might be able to put it to good use?
>>98715963well it's a very silly thing but I've personally ran, of all things, a friggin dusk wing with a tempest charged blade and had it actually work outbut to not be silly, I've actually seen tempest charged blade work out really well on an Orchis and bonus points for it being a pretty darn good thematic match, the only big issue is that you can't overwatchcalendula can work with it, though calendula definitely wants to tech attack to take advantage of it's sculptor of fatethere's also always the supreme sillyness of melee lich and of course, there's always the Superheavy Enkidu which is all kinds of silly good fun
>>98716134>calendula can work with it, though calendula definitely wants to tech attack to take advantage of it's sculptor of fateGood thing there's a Horus core bonus that gives you bonuses for hacking a target, then hitting them with a melee attack (Thinking Tomorrow's Thought).
On the topic of superheavies, I'm interested in Lancer and wondering if there's a good combo of licenses or gear to play a Macross, ie enough missiles to pull an Itano Circus and a fuckoff huge energy cannon you may inly get to fire once. From what I can see taking a few levels in Monarch seems the way to go for missiles, but then it's a tossup between Sherman, Ghengis and Barbarossa for the big cannon.
>>98711568Nope. As other anons have pointed out there is no change if you flavour the 'mechs' as human fighters or elf warlocks, it's the exact same. Because lancer is a 4e dnd clone and has exactly 0 mechanics to simulate mech combat. No location damage, no ammunition depletion, no component destruction, no real critical damage rules, nothing. It does not even have r&r, you just take a long rest and your chara- sorry mechanical is magically hea- repaired. It does not even have out of cockpit rules. Its just a lazy dnd clone.
>>98716644yeh but that doesn't work with superheavies, which is why calendula with a superheavy is rather iffyit's also why nelson doesn't work with it either, because nelson really wants to boost
Is this game as woke as people say or are they just looking for excuses to be outraged?
>>98716686Monarch is the designated Macross frame, no questions asked. If you want a fuckoff energy cannon, Sherman has a built in one and ab unch of laser guns as part of its license. But I'm not sure if you can have both in the same build while remaining functional
>>98716934It’s very woke. But the in setting universe is advanced enough that wokeness is treated as medical issues and not a feature of personality.Like there is a transsexual character. But like the Alien universe, she literally had her DNA rewritten to go male to female as a major medical procedure. So it’s one line.
>>98716766TTT doesn't have to hit in the same turn it hacked, so Superheavies aren't actually completely out of the question. You just have to wait for LL6 to do it on a Calendula since it only has one mount.>>98716962You might be able to pull something off. Sherman wants to Stabilize to build up charges for its onboard laser gun, so you could run the GMS missile rack and RPG that have Loading. Range 10 does feel a bit short for a mech as slow as the Sherman though.>>98716686Something else a little unorthodox that might work if you're willing to trade the laser cannon for a kinetic one is a missile rack Raleigh.
>>98716962Sherman's built in, the Solidcore, does have a wide beam and only takes up a Main slot so one could add a Heavy and Main missile system on top of that. But then Monarch needs to be your chassis if you want to missile absolutely everything within 50 so you'd need Sherman 3 for the Tachyon Lance (bigger damage but single target) or Ghengis 3 for the Plasma Thrower (slightly lower range and damage but variable AoE and leaves burning terrain).>>98717163Kinetic could be acceptable, it's why I'm a bit yempted by the Barbarossa and its railgun, though I do prefer a line AoE over single target. So far a Monarch with Plasma Thrower is starting to sound like the best one to shoot for. And then add +3 range to the plasma from SSC core mod, too bad the Monarch stabilizer only works on launchers and cannons.
>>98716962Tlaloc isn't the worst to use with a tachyon lance since you can retarget anywhere within 20 range, but yeh the monarch really wants to use a launcher every turn, preferably one with either multi-targeting or accurate so the tachyon lance is a bit of a non-starter on itif you want a big fuck you cannon on a mech that otherwise uses missiles there's always the option of going with monarch systems on a Barbarossa With both siege stabilizers and stabilizer mod gandiva become range 25 and pinaka become range 30, so you can just plant your arse down while charging your apocalypse rail and reliably hit things way over yonder something stupid but possible with the barb and pinakas (if you're actually willing to use that weapon, it's not the best) is that between resistance to explosives and armor 2 you can just danger close yourself with a pinaka to get something annoying off of your backthat said if you're going this option it's probably better to just take heatfall, use your high heat cap and fire the gandivas multiple times in a turn, you could get away with 1 or 2 turns of overcharging for double attacks before you have to overcharge to stabilize
>>98717201I am dumb I forgot stabilizer mod adds ordnance, still range 20 with siege stabilizers on a seeking weapon should if you're picking a good spot to root yourself in get a bunch of double attacks
Was looking through the line weapons and I kind of have to ask, is there any reasonable way to use a railgun without either going 3pp and picking the Oleander or else by slapping nano-comp on it?
