I've curbed my retail therapy to buying miniature hobby targeting paint and sometimes STLs that I think look good.I need to sort my STL "unsorted" folders though.I need to list all my AK 3rd gen paints I've bought so I don't buy more duplicates.

Still haven't finished my BattleTech pile of shame, although I did do most of the conventional vehicles, except the Visigoth fighters. Planning to wait until the Clan fighter box comes out and do them all in one go.

I cannot show any of it to the other players because they have a fanatical hatred of AI. I also have used Claude / ChatGPT to get advice on my campaign because I no longer have the creative confidence I used to, and I don't want to bother my other friends not involved in that campaign for advice. Also, they aren't part of it, so it'd be a 4 paragraph lore dump to get some advice, and they would not likely even want to read that, or give some low-effort advice to get me off their back. Which is perfectly fair, but it makes doing that a bad option.I haven't taken any real concrete creative suggestions from the AI, as it just generates random slop, but talking to "someone" about my campaign helps me come up with new ideas. I don't have the same surfeit of new ideas like when I was 25, so I feel like I am basically resorting to creative viagra to run my campaign.I don't know how to feel about any of this.

I am seriously considering homecoming a DM on startplaying. I can imagine a thousand different ways the players could be awful but the prospect of getting $20 a person to just run d&d is extremely tempting

>>98706782Just to be clear, this is bad DMing because it affects my ability to DM in a way I tend to deliberately ignore because pretending like I don't have an ongoing major malfunction makes it easier for me personally to play, and it's one of the many pastimes I like. Basically, I have low-level player neglect, dysfunctional thinking patterns, and generally a bad memory in general on account of a major head injury. I don't advertise it and I don't talk about it if I can get away with it, pretending like nothing is wrong as much as I can. I'm far more sensitive to basic stressors than most people are and while I am considered a good GM, I could be a whole lot better.
>>98702912Once, a long time ago, I was GMing a cyberpunk game. The idea was that the players would start off as regular people and grow into baddass mercs as the story progresses. I made this classic set up where the PCs are being framed for shit they haven't done and made it (in my mind at least) obvious that they were being set up by primarily the corporate security division. I assumed they'd try to dodge corporate security forces and try to find out who set them up. But nooo, they went straight to corporate security and wanted to cooperate with them so the whole mistake would be cleared up and they could go back to their desk jobs and shit. Campaign ended right there. Corrupt security promptly shot them to death and claimed they resisted arrest later on. Players were mad at me for putting them in a situation where they had no chance of survival and I was mad at them for being so fucking stupid as to go to the very entity that very obviously had set them up.
