Depends on the xeno, orks, drukhari, tyranids should be exterminated, it's self defense
Others such as Craftworlders, Votann if they are not acting against humanity (depending on the faction) can be worked with and have coexisted peacfully with humans and were willing to be good with them
T'au are a grey area since while not murderschizos they do wanna fundamentally take over everything under the banner of the "Greater Good"

Sometime the Imperium is right, sometime they are unjustlly attacking people they can work with. But you can't really talk about this since 40K is filled with retards who either identify with factions and shill for them or insert their politics into it. Barely anyone actually discusses the universe on it's own.

tbf, murder and genocide is bad mkay, HOWEVER from a complete political standpoint, having your neighbors be part of your in group (in this case humanity) is infinitely more preferable to having them be complete aliens who have their own culture, language, and ideas. the USA would likely never reach to the extent it has if their territories looked something like pic related.
>>
>>98709533
you can not allow Xenos to exist in a galaxy with the imperium.

>>98709547
More trouble than its worth. You'd need a table saw or a jigsaw cutter. Both cost way more than just buying one of those drawers and assembling it with wood glue.
>>
>>98709544
Bad argument since Craftworlders have a post scarcity society and just wanna avoid getting eaten by Slaanesh. The only ones that had ambition to restore the Empire were Biel-Tann and they are pretty raped. Votann can be easily boxed in and kept on a leash and traded with.
>>98709543
See above, can be easily boxed in and kept as defacto vassals. Humanity is under no threat from them. Imperials outnumber them a billion to one. In a galaxy with no Nids, Orks, Chaos, Drukeks, those 3 could relax together with Imperials rulling.
T'au would be a problem due to their ideology.
>>98709555
Besides Votann, both of those apply to the Imperials tho
>>
>>98709573
>>98709533

Okay I had an idea that will help me get maximum value without wasting models, mostly by figuring out how to maximize bodies while only needing to buy peripheral parts, which are more often in stock. The idea is, I'll go ahead and buy the BT combat patrol, BA combat patrol, nemesis claw kill team, and scout kill team as planned. Then, once I've mixed together the sword brethren with the assault intercessors, I'll buy 5 jump packs and shields and use the remaining mix of 5 bodies to make vanguard veterans. After mixing together the scout squad and crusader squad initiates, I'll by a mix of regular jump packs and raptor jump packs as planned and use the 5 tacticus armored bodies in the crusader squad to mix with 5 of the nemesis claw bodies to make my death company with jump packs. This saves me from having to buy any jpi models for bodies at all. Bladeguard veterans will be saved to be later mixed with inner circle companions which leaves no leftovers. This ensures that the only leftovers are 5 nemesis claw bodies, which I will save for when I eventually want to make a second brick of death company, and 4 remaining scout bodies, which are admittedly hard to find a use for with their bare arms but maybe I can scrounge up another body that can serve as a sargeant for them to have 3 scout squads down the line, or I can use them as base decor for my aeldari later or something.

It's an answer to the claim that mankind was justified in its own aggressions, which is not actually canon, but fanfiction parroted by people who feel the need to portray the imperium as infallibly moral instead of the grim dark worst regime imaginable.

There was no specific or one-sided aggression from xenos towards mankind in the age of strife, no real basis for mankind to carry out retaliatory genocides during the great crusade, nor was coexistence impossible as a rule.

Mankind was aggressive because it was the convenient thing to do to become the galactic top dog as fast as possible, not because it was the only way for it to survive or the moral thing to do.

And despite arguments to the contrary, any morality that treats other sapient races as things that shouldn't be treated with the same fairness as your own kind is little different, morally speaking, to being sociopathic towards your own.

Mankind is the good guys of 40k because they're human, not because they act morally, if you don't understand that you're in denial of the genre and want capeshit instead.

All eldar craftworlds are entirely built around warp derived prognostication to preserve the craftworlds, often at the cost of any and all other things around them, changing fate to kill a billion non-eldar to save one eldar is the idea. Not really this is exaggarated, it does happen sometimes, but not that often and a lot of them aren't malicious towards humans for the sake of hating humans. They are willing to fuck over others mostly because those others are hostile to them with a kill on sight policy. Eldar do value their own over others, but so does everyone else. In the scenario where they were allied with Imps & Dorfs they would have much more breathing room and less visions of doom.

Plus Eldar are even less of a rival than Votann since they have no need for resources and own no land. Take out Biel Tann maybe and work with the rest (especially with Ynnari, but that plotline is RIP)

Good shit anon. For a firstimer youre incredible.
Some quick suggestions if you're willing to take it up a notch:
>Try some shades and some highlights. So far your models looks a lot like youve applied a lot of very clean basecoats. Try giving some areas, like the silver or the red some appropriate shades, and then readd some of the og colors to make it pop. Its possible you already did this step, but it doesnt come through in the pic.
>Definitely apply something to the base. A bit of texture paint and then some rocks glued on or tufts go a long way to making a model seem complete.
>If you wanna paint lightning, an easy way I do it is I pick the color I want, in my case pink and follow the method of dark and big to light and small.
>So I start >Big purple lines, slightly jagged.> Dark pink lines within that previous layer, > Brighter and smaller pink lines within that layer, >repeat as desired >End with either dots or very thin lines of pure white.

40k being a shitty universe is like 80% the imperium and 20% the eldar's fault. In 30k it would probably be an even 50/50 split.

My gripes is that they're very copy-pasted, the flame effects don't look great, that they skimped out on the decorations and that they really should have kept the drawn/sculpted flame motifs from before.

As it stands I'd rather wait for some Mk7 marines from HH and sculpt bones and flames on them

Triggering baser impulses and making everyone a little bit more of an asshole towards each other. And those who aren't effected, are drowned in assholes.

Lmao Eldar were responsible for killing that. Not even near the majority of Eldar were part of that.
>Ulthwé Farseer Eldrad Ulthran eventually came to view the Cabal as a threat to the galaxy. He believed that their path of destroying Humanity to kill the Chaos Gods was little more than a hopeless ritual sacrifice. Eldrad saw a new path beyond the acuity, one that involved helping the Imperium emerge victorious through actions such as aiding Vulkan in reaching Terra. However the Cabal refused to relent in its path, and Eldrad thus recruited the Word Bearer Barthusa Narek in a bid to eliminate the Cabal's members. Eldrad and Narek killed most of the Cabal's leadership and agents, including Gahet, Slau Dha, Cartur Umenedies, and Damon Prytanis.
And also Eldar brought back Guillaman which gave humans a big boost.
This is just Imperium fanboyism.

>"the universe is full of shit that hates humanity"
in the 41st millennium, after galaxy wide genocides carried out by humanity

there's never been any text, paragraph, or suggestion, that all, or even most, intelligent aliens were naturally hateful towards mankind specifically

the age of strife wasn't a difficult time just for mankind, but for any and all races that relied on the warp, and mankind was never merely a passive pacifist presence wherever it went before the age of strife and great crusade

the idea that humanity learned to be xenophobic with the age of strife because they discovered all xenos turned out to be fundamentally evil is pure headcanon
the setting never tried to portray humanity as any less aggressive, opportunistic and expansionist as other races

If humanity is justified into going on the great crusade, then it defeats the point of 40k. Simple as.
Were there many terrible xenos out there? Of course, 40k is a horrible and brutal place, but if the imperium doesn't run on ignorance and the same brutality, then it goes against the point of the setting.

This is not a real debate, some people just want the imperium to be legitimate in their violence as validation by proxy.

A lot of people need to learn to separate fiction from reality, and unfortunately they never will.

Nah.
It's heavily hinted at in the Lion book that all of the primarchs are daemon-human hybrids capable of coming back from death. Lionel Johnson spends most of his days walking through 'the forest', which is his mind's interpretation of the warp, skipping from planet to planet and killing heretics. They are total bullshit but at least they are faithful to the lore.

ironic.
You've got a weird idea about whatever justification means that is attached to some moral background that isn't part of the setting.
It runs on ignorance and brutality because that's effective in the grim darkness. It literally tells you to forget about liberal humanist progress in the opening blurb to the game since day one.

40k is inherently political. The problem is that the imperium is fighting for the survival of the human race, so they are the quintessential good guy faction, but they do a lot of bad shit in the process of making that happen.
Autists who have difficulty separating reality from fantasy think that saying 'the emperor did nothing wrong' (factually true according to the lore by the way) is a tacit solicitation for space fascism or whatever.

>imperium good cuz they're humans
While I do think Imps are one of the good guys for different reasons, this doesn't really fly as it's trying to present a particularist claim as a universalist one. It's just self-inserting not really looking at any in-universe logic.Since if elves/dwarves whatever were real they would just say the same and identify with their guys. That's particularism so there are no universal good guys there, just following the in-group's interest.
I think a better distinction would be:
Order - trying to preserve their species and not actively just seeking perpetual war/inflicting suffering for the sake of it while pursuing their own interests
Imperium, Eldar, Tau, Votann (maybe Silent King though Necrons being soulless robots puts them into question)
Destruction - actively seeking perpetual war/inflicting suffering for the sake of it or to damn everyone to the dark gods
Everyone else

I'd say order's aims are noble while they have their individual flaws they would be the "good guys" compared to everyone else. I do think the Imperium are ome of the good guys, but not the only ones. And no I'm not a leftist nor do I self insert into 40K since it's a fictional setting with silly incoherent lore lol

As for Warhammer 40k being satirical. It is satirical in the sense that all of it's cruel means are not only inevitable due to the conditions of the galaxy but also necessary for the survival of mankind. The excesses are the result of bureaucratic incompetence worn down by unending wartime. The reasoning is still justified.
But a lot of nerds will come in and make or parrot myths about oldhammer and what the satire is. The 'satire' part is a good panic button for GW's PR team to press if I'm being honest.

Like in any fandom there were always people like that, but it was a rounding error until the early 2010s.

40k, like Star Wars, D&D, videogames o any other nerdy IP began to be flooded with neurotic attention whores and culture war grifters trying to make everything about themselves. You can trace it all to the gamergate/2016 election years.

In my opinion warhammer powescaling arguments would all be solved if we just put things into the following tiers and just left it at "everything in the same tier is on more or less the same league, people one tier down can beat the tier above them by teaming up and having a really good plan" as follows

Literal God Tier: Chaos Gods, Big E, C'tan, etc. Shouldn't be on tabletop
Demigod Tier: Primarchs, Avatar of Khaine, Greater Demons. Allowed on tabletop but should be rare. In lore stronger than vehicles but on tabletop it's good that they aren't, as we have now
Mech/Tank Tier: Imperial Knights, Wraithknights, bigger tau battlesuits, biggest tyranid monsters, various tanks
Peak Mortal Tier: Custodes, Chapter Masters, Phoenix Lords, Chaos Champions, Tyranid Monsters, medium battlesuits
Elite Troops Tier: Terminators of all stripes, wraithblades, small battlesuits, tyranid small monsters
Skilled troops tier: Marines, Aspect Warriors, Tyranid special units, fire warriors, sisters, elite guardsmen, the majority goes in this tier
Chaff tier: guardsman, gaunts, etc.

As I said in the beginning, characters can beat others a tier up with a good plan and team coordination, beating anything two tiers up requires a large numbers disparity and an incredible plan that expertly exploits the targets weaknesses, and so on.

I didn't include titans because even though they are on tabletop they aren't really characters even in the way that tanks or mechs are. Tanks or mechs usually have a specific crew that can function as a focused group of characters, titans are more like moving fortifications or starships that more are used to setup the conditions in which characters fight

I also put lucius the eternal in that category. I simply do not think they are or should be considered primarch and greater demon tier, the avatar of khaine fills that spot much better
>>98710253
>No amount of good planning should have a bunch of knights beating a chaos god.
Well yeah, but that's an outlier. The gap between god tier and demigod tier is by far the biggest gap, the rule I laid out at the end is more a general guideline that's more about how enough guardsmen can take out terminators with melta grenades and superior positioning

NTA but the LGS to play Warhammer 40k is a den of severe autists.
Now couple that with social issues and the sensitivity of rainbow and possibility of bad PR and possibility of bricks through the window and management will side with the autist who thought your breathing was problematic for a moment.
Some autists have figured this out and are now "gaming" the system to abuse rule loopholes and "subtly" threaten to accuse someone of being a phobe of anything to get their way and in tabletop games.
>t. one wig autist was doing this at the LGS and got banned years ago

Yea, the guard one
It was 48 USD yesterday, 49 now.
That was just the smallest price change I found when I brushed over them today. The Cadian Command Squad also increased in price 1 dollar.
Some units didn't change at all, like the Imagifier, but of those that did, 1 dollar (0.75 GBP) was the smallest change.

Then there's the Baneblade, which has gone up 45 dollars since 2 months ago, and is a huge part of a non-zero of tourney-winning guard rosters, so they're in demand.

I have a lore question.
Do Orks 'need' clothes in the traditionally sense? The ordinary boy isn't dressed thickly and so isn't protected from the elements. Utility belts and armour obviously provide a practical use, but clothes themselves don't really seem to be something Orks necessarily bother with. Yet, they always have clothing, and clothing that fits.
Orks don't have genitalia as we understand, so the social shame of exposing yourself isn't an issue.
There is evidence of fashion with orks, especially around colours, clans and other things, but this usually goes on armour. The only 'fashion' that doesn't involve armour seems to be Freeboota hats.

Im my head, I am imagining pic related. An Ork goes to the Ork equivalent of T.J Maxx or Next. The shop is run by grots but has a 'Janitor' (Runtherd who is unpopular by Runtherd standards) who oversees the grots at work while the Ork goes for a fitting and shoe measurement.

>>98710292
>having a melty over the definition of one word
Mortal is used here in contrast to the divinity of the above tiers, rather than their relationship to death, which is perfectly linguistically valid and also true in lore. Sure, phoenix lords, custodes, and dante will probably all be alive 5000 years from now but they are clearly different from primarchs made from the god emperor directly and greater demons that literally cannot die in any sense

That's toxic positivity in a nutshell. Ironically makes "safe spaces" become uncomfortable for everyone as now everyone is afraid of accidentally saying or doing something or "satirically" existing in a way that could be seen as problematic and then getting banned.
The way so many people who like DKOK and field them seem to have a pre-programmed speech about how they aren't fascists is funny in a morbid way.

I do envy how some of the TTRPG crowd at my LGS that learned how to dodge the rainbows by having their DM and players in on the "we can't handle more players" thing and then that's it. I'm not sure if any autists have caught on yet.
I'm grateful that Warhammer 40k for the most part in my engagement is just 1v1 casual games. Haven't been in a campaign with multiple people but hopefully the "we can't handle more people please" excuse will work.

>Orks don't have genitalia as we understand, so the social shame of exposing yourself isn't an issue.
They hide their butts because they're embarrassed by them because showing butt means you're caught in a silly and vulnerable pooping position, or getting slapped by a bigger ork.
And in front they have a shroom-like growth they pee from, and excrete spores with the pee, and it's different for every ork so they all hide it to fit in better.

Anyone have experience with GW's support when it's a 3rd party store making the request?
Bought a box that has a warped sprue in it and got turned away because I bought from an LGS and not an actual GW store. I'm good friends with the owner and was curious if they'd be able to make the request in my stead, since they actually ordered directly from GW.

That's the point I'm making. The existence of clear power scaling is necessary for literary stakes to exist, to make the sacrifices made along the way feel justified and necessary. Sure. The 40k creators were the same. They were obviously left leaning (by 80s standards) but made minis inspired by 2000AD and anti-Thatcher stuff at the same time they showed the White Dwarf happily shaking hands with Ronald Reagan.

Kind of in a similar vein as knights or guard for me, where there are a few models I want because they look cool but the other stuff doesn't really come together for me.
