What do people in your campaign settings traditionally eat /tg/?
>>98711269I'm running a FATE Space Opera game.Food had to decide between being purely utilitarian (led to a slew of suicides and murders) or trying to faithfully replicate ground side cuisine (incredibly expensive).Eventually they settled on embracing the hyperprocessed nature and decided to maximize pure sensation over fidelity. Before each major arc I print out "picky eater/autism friendly kid's meal" ideas and use that for descriptions.I (briefly) ran the same setting irl and dyed sour cream Pringles blue with spirulina. People loved it TL;DR: Kid's birthday party foods just engineered to hit nutritional goals
>>98711269>TEATI am a meat and breast expert. There might be fewer cuts of meat less appetizing. The two major components of breasts are fat and cooper's ligaments, which combine into a stringy, bland, spongy, and generally undesirable cut, particularly if cooked sufficiently that the proteins in the ligaments tighten up.The reason that steaks, which all come from a small set of muscles that run along the cow's spine, are so sought after and desirable is because they are muscles that see little use (only when the cow turns left or right) and thus have flavor and a desirable texture. Breasts, which have no muscles, are basically gristle with pockets of flavorless fat. While some cultures do eat cow udders, which share many similarities with breasts, they need to be sliced thin and are generally heavily marinated to give them flavor they otherwise lack, and even then are such an unforgiving piece of flesh that even if cooked perfectly (which is not easy to do) they're still a mediocre dish at best. Putting a lump of "teat" steak on a plate not only would look considerably different (and actually pretty horrific), it would also just be bad enough that you couldn't even use it for ground meat and is better thrown to the dogs.
The northern hemisphere has our standard fare foodstuffs, but the magical south has trees that grow cheesy persimmons, mulberry-adjacents that have tubercles which can be baked into cinnamon rolls, and so on.
I'm running a game in New Orleans, so it's New Orleans food.
>>98711269I've recently been thinking about this, since I'm planning on switching to an apocalyptic fantasy setting for my campaigns, and the lore stipulates that a lot of livestock species have gone extinct along many forms of plant life, with a lot of food coming from the setting's underdark or harvested from alternative sources, like fungi or, in the case of meat, from a species of giant sandworm with a diet being part roots and part soil and mineralsbut to answer your question, whatever I think it's suitable at the moment, I'm not GRRM and I don't have a food fetish I need to indulge every time there's food present
>>98711895This anon gets it.
