Welcome to Mecha Monday! Here we dedicate ourselves to mecha RPGs, wargames, and boardgames alike. Here we start games, tell campaign stories, share resources & assets, and seek advice for our games and homebrew.

Heavy Gear 4e adventures are now out to backers; Heavy Gear 4e is also on sale at Humble Bundle

Question of the Thread: Can you have too many guns on a mecha?

There are never enough guns. Picrel.

Anyway, I've been working on a mecha ttrpg, is it fine for me to share it here once I have it in a more presentable state?

Here's some of it's features:
> focus on character and mech customization, the shape of the mech doesn't matter much, a gundam, a zoid and weirder machines use the same base rules
> rules for kaijus and playable kaijus
> enemies and players use the same rules and baseline, so stealing their stuff (or viceversa) can be done without any issue or homebrewing
> out of robot rules, including robot vs pilot stuff
> d100 dice, point buy system for mech and pilot creation
> designed as setting agnostic, but with some premade ones for ease of play

Sharing OC is always encouraged

Thoughts on the mecha hack?

I'm in the beginnings of creating a homebrew setting for some mech adventures. We are going experimental and try for a mixed system game:
Lancer for the giant robot action and Stars Without Number for character and maybe ship combat if there's interest in it.
My group and I are still in the general "what do we want to include" phase, and so far we've nailed only yes to aliens, both intelligent and not, and AI are a thing, although we are probably going to reflavor Lancer's NHPs to fit with kind of AI we end up going for.

Personally I want to take advantage of all the worldbuilding tools SWN offers and create a sector of space the PCs can jump around in.
I'm just wondering about how to not fall into the trap of making "Inner Sphere, but with aliens".

Any settings you /mechm/aniacs could suggest to look at for inspirations?

Guns are cool and all, but have you considered adding a pile bunker to your arsenal?

Not really. Don't care for the redesigns. I'm sure the techno thriller political philosophy Oshii directorial memes will be great, but they ruined the ATs.
