What are some tricks you use when you do. Have you ever played in one? What was it like?
How pragmatic do you like to play it?
Fuck off, you aren't actually here to discuss in good faith.

>>98718039Honestly, just once. Tried to inject a campaign that was mainly dungeon delving with a little political intrigue. Not much, just the local upper crust getting wind of some dangerous and wealthy newcommers to the region (the pcs) and trying to leverage them for personal gain.It lasted 10 minutes at best, within the first introduction of a noble character the fag playing a female elf rogue decided to "fight the power" by attempting to publicly rob said noble, who was litterally just trying to hire the players to collect a valuable subterranian mushroom for them (psychodelic for his costume parties). After a brief "are you sure, this doesnt look like it will go well for you" he attacked the noble, severly wounding him and then died to a half dozen crossbow bolts in the same round.Player then started crying because I "made the combat encounters too hard" and it was unfair because now his character was dead it prematurely ended the out of session lesbian romance he had cooked up with a self invented elf milf and had been subjecting us to in the form of multi page writeups each week.Since then nope, not until I can find a group not made of manchildren.
>>98718325Jesus fuck, anon.>a female elf rogue decided to "fight the power" by attempting to publicly rob said nobleThey should have grown out of this mentality after they stopped being 14.

>>98718325>it made a retard freak out and destroyed the campaignSounds like it's potentially a good way to filter out retards.
Fuck off.

>>98719422>retards can't play political campaignsLmao
>>98718039This looks like shit.
>>98718145>zoomers don't understand social settings
How do you get players who aren't too retarded to do this?
>>98718039get this AI sloppa in the AI sloppa general
>>98728071Basically you don't.Political games are always going to be difficult to run and there's always going to be at least one retard. The key to being successful is ensuring that the retard is distracted doing retard things while the players who want to do scheming stuff scheme.Ideally you have scheming player(s) manage the retard player(s) as part of their political aspirations. That way the retard fucking up becomes part of the story/a challenge the schemers have to overcome.
>>98729151>That way the retard fucking up becomes part of the story/a challenge the schemers have to overcome.Lmao this sounds like a great way to improvise a campaign.
>>98729202It works surprisingly well, the schemer is invested in keeping the plot moving/trying to achieve their objectives, and the "retard" gets to have his low stakes fun/lolwackiness/social justice moment/be a sperg without you having to make the game cater to the lowest denominator. Works best if you know the players fairly well and know who is going to be driving force vs who is going to mess things up for the others either deliberately or through genuine social or mental retardation.I think it also helps that the only actually retarded woke pants one head communist person who insists on sharing their ideology at any moment we had play with us was reported to the NIS and their visa was not renewed.

>>98718039Many times. The important thing is to try and make every political entity (person, faction, etc) have a rational outlook from their own perspective. You can't really have an "evil" faction without that faction appearing ridiculous. If you have a racist faction, then they have to have solid arguments for their racism. If you have an isolationist faction, then you have to have solid arguments for that. Conversely, your trade factions must have solid arguments for trade. You also cannot run a railroad adventure where the players are meant to go from A to be B to C to D, and then finish. The nature of the political game is fluidity. So you as a GM must take a very neutral stance to any outcome, and be very particular with keeping tabs on what your NPCs actually know, and don't know, what powers they have and what they don't have, what influence they have and what they don't have. I found it helpful to draw a large mindmap with connections between factions/politicians.But you also have to have a very specific type of player to run these campaigns. If your players like hack'n slash and looting, then they'll be bored to tears. Likewise, you should abstain from leaning too hard on rolling dice during the campaign, and put more emphasis on what the players actually say to different factions.
