back in 8th when soup was popular, I had an exiled member of a knightly house working with a rogue trader embedded with a regiment of vostroyans to find a long lost dominus pattern knight and restore his right to rule.

Yes. His name is Belisarius Cawl. He’s a 10,000 year old archmagos dominus of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Cawl was ordered by the Primarch Guilliman himself to create a new stronger breed of Space Marines called Primaris Marines and he’s been secretly doing that for 10,000 years… Pretty cool huh?

Ii wasn't a fan of how the Sanguinary Guard refresh went so I renamed my Sanguinary Guard to Spearguard Veterans in muh chapter lore. They're treated as just another kind of veteran next to bladeguard, sternguard, and vanguard vets.
I'm thinking about doing something similar to the Sanguinor and having him be the chapter champion instead.
I finished another one of the spears yesterday.

To be fair the HH is a fairly obvious entrypoint as it gives context to 40k. Also the book reading order is laid out for you.
40k books are just a jumble of "stuff" and mini-series with no direction on what you should read first.

>a fairly obvious entrypoint
No the fuck it isn't. It's a TEN THOUSAND year old spin-off series mostly made up of glup shitto characters who are not only dead in 40k but no one even knows or remembers they ever existed. It doesn't include 80% of the important factions that the 40k setting revolves around. It's also written by people who had zero involvement with the creation of the setting. This is like starting Star Wars by skipping everything written by George Lucas and going straight to the dogshit Disney+ spin-off shows that only feature donut steel OCs that never even appear in the main movies. It's the fucking dumbest and gayest shit imaginable.

Go to the model train section of your hobby store. Play sand is also an option, but you need more space and have to sieve it so ymmv.
Diorama material is cheaper than stuff marketed for miniature basing, and it's nearly always the exact same. You can buy "ballast" to use as basing soil in a bunch of sizes and get whatever size tufts of grass you'd want.
PVA glue (white glue) will work fine. My method is:
>put ballast/sand into a plastic tub
>brush PVA glue onto model base
>put model into tub of ballast/sand bottom-down and push the ballast/sand onto the top of the base
>brush off excess ballast/sand until it's to a level you like, run your thumb around the edge to make it smooth and not hang off, let dry
>paint the ballast/sand if you want a different color
>dab PVA glue into spots you want plants, attach plants
>paint rim of base a color if you want, I usually go over my base rim in black to make it clean
Voila
I'm pretty sure what I just described is the exact same as how Duncan Rhodes suggested to do it in a video I watched a while ago and I'm just aping it without realizing.

I don't do much weathering, but it's mostly the same from me. Hobby store model train section, snow powder and rust/mud pigments. You can find a better "how to use" tutorial by googling than what I could explain.

>>98731388
kind of, but bladeguard staying S5 is a pretty big nerf when you can take 5 assault intercessors for less points who have S6 chainswords on the charge.
>>
>>98731388
It might be because of shitty brushes in which case this won't help you, but try drawing your flames from the tip down
When you drag your brush, the point you start on will be the thinnest and the point you end the thickest in terms of paint deposited, so to get a clean point to the flames and to avoid them looking like little snakes instead you should try as hard as possible to get pointy tips
It's particularly jarring because you have the sharp decals beside or even on top of the fat, out of scale flames

I really like this type of stuff so I have quite a bit going. Basically all of the armies I'm interested in I make up excuses for them to join up into one crusade force. So far the basic characters I have invested thought into are mainly just the big boys, like the chapter master, lead knight, palatine, etc. I like the idea of the imperium as an opportunity to explore morality, because while they obviously have a very different moral compass than we do now the majority of at least high-performing imperials are doing their best from their own perspective. So for example, I have the idea that the chapter master, being primaris and primaris are known to be kind of more on the "assholes to mortals" side of things, learns some things from Dante about valuing the lives of the common people, in the sense that they are part of the Emperor's domain and in the sense that as sons of sanguinius they have various responsibilities. That leads into the knight's backstory, which is that his home world was conquered by chaos and so he joined the imperial navy. He ends up attached to this chapter of space marines as a pilot for some of the smaller voidships since he still wants to fight for the imperium. During the course of their campaigns they actually find some of his house's knights, corrupted by chaos, and after winning the battle this information comes out. The chapter master, acting mainly in the spirit of trying to follow the example of Dante and Guilliman in building up a stronger imperium rather than just trying to kill as many heretics as possible, gives his house the knights back, helps them purge them of chaos taint, and gives his house rulership of one of the reconquered planets, in exchange for a promise of eternal military alliance between the two, and the promise of supplying the chapter with high quality recruits from the world's population. As you can tell I am quite a big fan of actual medieval knight stories.
>>
>>98731454
Also it skips all the cool alien factions like Rangdan because then GW would have to answer why Rangdan aren't playable in 30k and 30k is about retarded faggots who think they're grogs slamming marines into other marines and sometimes whining that SA and CM ruin the purity of their marine on marine yaoi action.
>>
>>98731572
Then during one of their joint campaigns with the sisters of battle, one of the Palatines in the force ends up getting pregnant with the knight's son, and ultimately gets into trouble with her superiors because she wants to take the pregnancy to term despite the large amount of other responsibilities she has. She is ultimately allowed to, mainly because the boy is from a powerful family and because of her connections within the order, but ultimately still ends up sent to the repentia for doing this. This is also a very old-school type of story what with the tragic romance element and whatnot. I came up with this because I found the idea that the sisters are allowed to have sex and are capable of it but normally just don't care to because of how devoted they are to their work fascinating, and I wanted to do something with the potential conflicts that could cause. It can also lead to some interesting conflicts from the father's side what with the importance of proper lineage in such cultures. Then the least developed character so far is an Inquisitor who hangs around with the chapter master and shaped his philosophy on psyker powers. I haven't really developed my thoughts on that plotline as much but I kind of came up with it as an excuse for any civil wars they might get into. My chapter is very psychically talented and believe in the potential of psyker powers to be useful so there's a potential heresy angle to that if taken to far, or if it's perceived as being taken too far. If I ever do end up getting guardsmen I can also pretty easily add them in by saying the knight made an offer to a group of cadian refugees to live on his planet after the fall of cadia because he wanted to have strong soldiers for his citizenry or something. That works out because cadians are my favorite tabletop guard regiment anyways.

And if I really want to I can also relatively easily write a story where my eldar guys team up with the imperium force because they hate khorne more than anyone(mainly because my favorite elves in fiction are the noldor exiles and I wanted to base it off of them). But that might have to be a one-off lol.

>outside of chess
It's doomed to failure either way, but I'll still engage the point
If there is an incentive that's worth more than bragging rights over the rest of those involved, someone will inevitably be a shitcunt about it and optimize the fun out. Therefore, the only options for everyone else to still have a chance are to either:
>have strict rules from the beginning to prevent this behavior across the entire playerbase
>meet him at his level
All forms of conflict, from war to sports to tabletop gaming, reach this logical conclusion eventually. Some people will care more about winning than any form of gentleman's agreement on fun or sport, so you must have heavy guardrails or be ready to counter-cheese his bullshit in whatever form it takes.

>>

GW took in about $900m in total revenue last year, with an absurd profit margin. Hopefully the space king guys charged enough to cover all their costs, plenty of successful kickstarters failed to do that.
>>
>>98732170
Yeah when I made my character sheet I forgot to put points into that skill.
>>
>>98732088
The turret may be designed in a way that the commander's seat is not directly beneath the cupola, but instead there's a step for the commander to stand up on to operate the pintle gun or bark orders; in that case, the gunner and loader (the Chimera would need a loader if it has the heavy bolter armament on the turret, and not need him otherwise) could enter the turret after the commander had sat down in his seat. Less "their own hatches," more "they all went in the same hatch and the model is not to-scale."

The rear compartment has a large hatch on the roof that a man can clearly fit through. Have (you) seen the model? Yes there's the quick access ramp on the rear, but the troop compartment also has that roof hatch that can be used.
That's the farthest I'll go in defending the writing, I don't know nor care beyond some of your points being objectively incorrect and/or plausibly incorrect.
>>
>>98732168
Most of mine popped off easily enough when I changed scheme. A few had to be cut but no permanent damage to the models.

so, I’m completely ignorant as to how tanks work, but why couldn’t this by describing “graven” entering the gun turret through the circular hatch like in the image, and the watchmaster being “beside” him as in close to his feet, and then the rest of the troops dropping into the top hatch on the back because the chimera was below them (in the case of them being on a little ledge or building) which would make it easier to drop down into it.

It's using the game term as a figure of speech. The beastman "failed its endurance test" with the metaphorical "endurance test" being "will you survive being shot." Failing that test is obviously death, passing it is obviously not.

It's really cheesy writing and I'd be ashamed to have written it, but a stereotypical funko pop collecting consoomer would like it and say "IT'S JUST LIKE THE HECKING TABLETOP." Different audience, et al.

Resin printing has matured a lot recently in both prices coming down and tech going up
"Mid-tier" printers today were top-tier 3-5 years ago and have very little (extremely likely to be zero) layer deformations in their prints if you calibrate your settings properly.
The exterior texture issue anymore is largely an FDM-exclusive problem, and I've even seen some *really* good FDM prints people have made recently so I'm not sure for how much longer they'll trail behind.

Fwiw, I print guard, SoB and marine vehicles on an FDM printer with .1mm layers, the layer lines disappear in prime/paint. If I'm doing a Steel Legion vehicle though, I intentionally make the layer lines bigger and more obvious because they look like WW2 Zimmerit anti-mine coating and it fits the not!German aesthetic.
>>98732444
>Why does all the 3d print slop I see around have such visible lines then is it just laziness+not wanting prints to take hours?
Are you sure the "3d print slop" you're seeing is printed in resin, or is it FDM? FDM prints will nearly always have layer lines because of how the tech works.

No characters yet but I came up with some very tame lore for my World Eaters warband:
"Angron’s Apostles believe that Angron is the greatest warrior to ever live. They worship and pray to Angron for strength and follow him around the galaxy wherever he appears, always trying to impress him, summon him, and gain his favour with displays of martial prowess and suicidal confidence. They view any kind of hesitance as cowardice, unworthy of the sons of the Red Angel, and this often results in very high casualties as they charge into heavily defended positions. They aspire to ascend to daemonhood like Angron, and many have failed in this effort, which is why they make such great use of chaos spawn in battle."
Kind of how the war boys see Immortan Joe in mad max. Also it lets me use Angron in my own warband since they're just following him around.

>>
>>98732514
I'm not intimately familiar with Eldar at all
This will be my second army after being a firstborn autist so that's my main frame of reference
Overall, no complaints. The details are very small compared to even firstborn so I really need to improve my handiwork. Almost snapped the back banner, it's so thin. Not a lot of extra bits for alternate poses, though, just head swaps.
>>
>>98732526
Like I distinctly remember people doomposting about how this will be the last codex you ever buy, its all gonna be digital and constantly updated, and a big one was that power levels were eventually gonna replace points

which they did
>>
>>98732535
I'd rather GW doesn't do it because they'll think "that's good enough" despite literally just giving basic marines a weapon profile that is purpose-built to counter t3w2. I don't want GW to do literally nothing (which giving an extra wound would be for a lot of cases) and act like they did enough.
>paying close to marines costs
Sisters are paying 20 points more for the same amount of wounds, I'm well aware of the point cost pain. Yes it'll get better with the +10 points jump on 5 Intercessors, but no that's still cheaper to play marines in terms of points to have an arguably better unit.

Fair enough anon. Eldar models are a canvas for some nice paint jobs but the details are tricky for sure. The metal versions of some of the units I have are super crispy and are such a joy to paint.

I'll try to post an anchor every thread but if you can't spot me write"here is my september collage submission" and it'll be way easier to find you in the archive.

>>
>>98732581

I really think they're going to have to get creative for the T3 armies in terms of defensive profiles/rules that aren't just a bump in T or wounds, otherwise they're going to feel so ass to play. I don't know how the fuck guard or nids are ever going to field any bricks of 10+ units (this goes for every T3 army really) because blast profiles in the Orks and SM codex are absolutely cracked. They're going to need rules or strats that give something like +1sv vs blast profile while in cover or -1 to wound. Orks especially have such an insane amount of ignores cover that less tough armies need to not get blown off the board.

Yea so that's not happening
Expect horde armies to just be told "you have options" and see more and more guard players swap to Baneblade/Bullgryn lists until GW decides to look at the problem again (after they've sold a bunch of baneblades, of course).
>>
>>98732653

Would be thematic and cool but they're going to fuck it up somehow and it'll be broken and unfun to play against and will get nuked from orbit again.
>>
>>98732664
>You have options
What, like move blocking which they made not functional this edition? Scoring denial that they made not work because everyone can max primary in two and a half turns? Inefficient profiles to waste high damage attacks that are eaten by all the incidental high rate of fire guns added onto all main tanks for free now? Or maybe you mean giving up extra free points to the enemy for purge objectives? Maybe you can do more actions with all your activations now that they made secondary only have two actions you ever need to perform that are never even required to stack?
>>
>>98732679
Oh it will definitely be unfun to play against. That's the problem with giving survivability in the form of things that aren't stats. They feel like you can't do anything to play around it on the other side of the battlefield. The only other option they have is to give them all a bunch of 4++ saves on their T3 1W bodies and Harlequins have previously shown just how cancerous that can be too.

>>

You're arguing with GW, not me
I fully agree with you; I think they'll use a w2 "buff" to t3 armies as an excuse to hand-wave away a bunch of complaints and the usual suspects will cry-bully it until it either boils over or can't be ignored.

That anime avatarfag always says stupid shit. I've seen him say several really stupid things. Avatarfagging is against the global rules too.

Making fight noises during the combat phase is a sacred tradition of wargaming. If you're playing with a titan you also have to make godzilla noises during your movement and charge phases as well.
>>
>>98731774
That's kind of cool though. It's essentially just a long-term multiple round tournament with prize support, that's totally fine to have and is a good store. People tryharding is unfortunate, but it can also be kind of fun if you go in with the attitude that you are seeing what your army/faction can do. I think challenging yourself can be a good thing.

Then later have a relaxed game with your buddies where you use less optimized stuff and have a beer. I have no issues simply doing both in different contexts, and I think it's even a good thing to at least try both styles of gaming.

Ah yes, me too. Killteam has good ones. It's where the red terror model comes from, he's an npc adversary for the killteams. It's really neat.
And there's also always dark heresy/imperium maledictus which is coop ttrpg, using a selection of your 40k models as the characters.

I live over an hour away from the closest store so I've gotten into doing solo games at home when I don't feel like making the trek, and it's pretty fun. It would be easy to adapt into some kind of coop thing since I'm controlling both sides anyway. A really easy place to start is like two smaller 1k point SoB and Marine lists holding out against all of my nids or something.

>Do you have any 40K OCs? Could you give a quick rundown on them?
Oh god.
The second company captain (name pending) leads a significantly understrengthed buy highly capable force. As the chapter's elite (lacking a distinct first company) the captain leads a veteran heavy company.

The third company captain (name pending) is the youngest and most brash of the lot, preferring to lead bombastically from the edge while his Lt keeps up the coordination. Their company standard is honored because it was their exploration of a temperate mountain range that founded the land the chapter's fortress monastery.

The captain of the fifth company (name pending) is the newest captain, having obtained his rank after a more senior Lt made a catastrophic overstep that would have led the company to destruction had the current captain had not predicted and prevented the disaster. The chapter master made him the new captain on the advice of the 5th company ancient, who, at 657 years old, is the third most senior member of the chapter.

The six company captain, Gigi Nakani, is the oldest marine in the chapter at 897 years old. Being the chapter's Master of Recruits, and as a training company captain, he has overseen every living member of the chapter. Due to the extremes of passing on the chapter's legacy he has been honored by not being sacrificed to become the chapter master, but has rather become the chapter's grandfather, often referred to as such. The ancient of the 6th company is one of the Chapter's seven Triple Aces

The captain of the 7th company (name pending) is a glory monger who plans assaults in order to put himself at the most dramatic thrust to earn the most glory, but because he's Just-That-Good™ he gets away with it. Since the 7th company is honored its company ancient is permitted to wear the chapter's 6th suit of functional terminator armor.
>>
>>98733211
>Since the 7th company is honored its company ancient is permitted to wear the chapter's 6th suit of functional terminator armor
I like it when terminator armor is actually rare. I'm going to do something similar and only paint maybe 11-12 terminators total myself
>>
File: cost.png (488 KB, 720x544)
488 KB PNG
>>98733215
The reason the terminator armor is rare is because during the invasion of the chapter's homeworld by the (first) ork WAAAGH, in order to prevent catastrophic loss, the chapter had to blindly deploy their first company (including their entire terminator compliment) plus the second company (deploying their entire Centurion armor reserve) in order to prevent complete defeat. The cost was the combat loss of ever piece of armor except 6 suits of terminator armor. While the damaged armor was recovered there has been no chance to have it restored due to the complexities of the chapter's recuperation.
>>
>>98733229
That's a great story! /mydudes/ are ultima founding so I'm going to paint the right pauldron with the logos of other blood angel successors, with the story being that the suits were given to the chapter as gifts from other chapters in gratitude for help given during the devistation of baal, and so the original chapter logo was left in honor of the generosity of their brothers

What inspired you to write in the majority of the first company being annihilated?

I don't actually remember why I wanted to go with a Crimson Fists-esque story. I think part of the reason is because I usually lost all my games.. They have a history of suffered heavy losses by overextending themselves.
After the homeworld's loss the chapter was only left with 55 marines. After 800 years it's still understrength.
The Eldar (also <my dudes>) manipulated the orks to overwhelm them so they could swoop in and save the chapter so long as they repaid the debt by destroying the necron tomb world that would destroy the craftworld about 800 years later. This, however, become known to the space marines who destroyed the craftworld anyway with various assistance.

contrast is going to serve a different purpose, Contrast paint is just a name given to the OG shade painting that people used to do to speedpaint orks and guard. You basically saturate the model with the undercoat of your choosing (white, offwhite, slapchop, zenithal, etc) and you tint the saturation that you have already established.

tone pro seems to be GWs attempt at making the most beginner friendly paint possible. No thinning required, good flow from the brush and high opacity. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they slowly squat a lot of their paint range in favor of these.

SO, SPECIFICALLY <my craftworld>, whose culture encourages an inwards look even at the spite of other Eldar, screwed over some Dark Eldar one of who survived a rather brutal wounding. After a century of effort said Dark Eldar got into a position to sell the craftworld's location and certain betrayal to <my space marines>. They then recalled their crusading 12th company, and pulled an ancient favor to get some titan support, and invaded and destroyed the craftworld, with the dark eldar giving some sublte help and even some corsairs repaying a vendetta or two on the side.

the first introductory paint buy isnt cheap but DKOK isnt that hard. You don't have to buy every highlight paint. most highlights you can get away with after an all over shade, then using the original color back over the raised areas, then maybe the original color with a touch of white in a few small areas to add a sense of volume.

the important thing is getting started.

are you trying to make your DKOK look like they do on the box or are you interested in a different color scheme?

These are the following colors you need for your DKOK
>coat color primary
>secondary/internal coat color
>dark leather brown
>lighter leather brown
>black
>grey
>white
>red
>parchment/bone color
>leadbelcher/dark metal color
>bright gold color / retributor armor
>agrax earthshade
>nuln oil
>basing material.

You may also need a shoulder/helmet secondary color and a highlight for it, but that is up to you (they look great when painted dark metal too)

put down your base coats, thinned agrax all over the clothes and nuln oil all over the metals. highlight with the original color again and if you need an even stronger highlight, mix in a little white or grey and you're good to go for your first minis.

I have entirely too many, but my favourite is still T’oma, “Scion of the Crucible”.

> Vat grown on Tejana and given to the chapter as a baby. T’oma has become a divisive figure in the chapter since his rise to prominence. He survived New Kydov as a neophyte, being granted the black carapace after the disaster but did little to stand out among his brothers. He only become widely known after the battle of Hexos. During the intense fighting he was seized by visions after the death of his mentor and father figure, Sergeant Joachim of the 6th company. He then led a suicidal charge into the lines of the heretics besieging an inquisitorial outpost to buy time for its evacuation. During the final sweep before Hexos was abandoned to its fall he was found severely wounded but still alive and surrounded by dead traitor marines. His sword broken off in the chest of their warlord, seemingly T’oma’s last act before falling. When he recovered enough to speak he seemed at first infirm, as though his mind had been broken and he talked in seeming gibberish. Only after longer observation were his ramblings able to be interpreted, they were quotes from the chapter’s holy book, the Horologium Lux. Interspersed between the sacred words were fragments of new knowledge. Since then he has earned a reputation as a battlefield assassin and exemplar of martial prowess, blessed and guided by the spirit of the Starbinder. This has come at a cost however. Outside of battle T’oma is lost in a fugue and is unable to meaningfully interact with his former brothers. His visions are carefully interpreted by the chaplaincy and sifted for the slightest hint that his ‘blessing’ is less than genuine. Despite all odds they have so far remained accurate. His condition has made him something of a tragic figure, representative of the nature of Astartes. Men who have given up their humanity to become living weapons in service to their species.

There's too many cool armies w_w

I think you are right though since BA can kind of do everything. I like red, I prefer good guys generally and like loyalist aesthetics more, and I like psykers which while not really supported in rules at least in lore blood angels are known to be pretty psychic
>>
>>98733454
what sort of red do you want to go for, like a bright red with clean armor panels? do you want your guys weathered and dingy?
>>
>>98733432
>Except then the Dark Eldar Archon kidnaps one of the high barons of the attached knight house to work as a bull fighter in the fighting pits for about a year before the whole Ynnarii bullshit lets her escape
Yeah that'll happen

Frankly, every scientist and wizard in the galaxy should devote a significant amount of their time to finding a way to virus bomb commoragh
>>
>>98733485
I like most kinds of red but I don't really like weathering no

>>
>>98733486
Since it's in the webway I would imagine just getting a ship in there and then imploding its warp drives like the Dominus Astra would do wonders.
Or just having a bunch of untamed psykers go haywire in there.

>>
>>98733500
The problem is that Commoragh isn’t really just one city, but dozens patched together via weird gateways and non-Euclidean space folding. It’s bigger than most solar systems. Even detonating one of their stolen suns would probably only take out a portion.

I was under the impression that Commoragh is so massive that if you manage to do genuine damage to the city they’ll just detach that part and build a new section to replace it somewhere else.

Plan B.
>>
>>98733512
Wouldn't imploding a warp drive also create a rift to spawn demons?
>>
>>98733500
>>98733507
Probably the best possibility is breaking through. If magnus can use the warp to smash through the webway around terra, then someone might be able to smash a hole in the wall their and let slaanesh get at her buffet
>>
>>98733516
Again, they just seal off that section and rebuild somewhere else or deploy their own anti-daemon countermeasures.

>>
>>98733517
Slaanesh is in no hurry to finish off the Dark Eldar, they feed her either way. I’m sure it would like the brief power boost, but Khaine’s gate gets weaker every year. No need or hurry things along.

I liked the comparison that the Dark Eldar are basically the classic conception of a cultist that do virgin sacrifices to keep volcano from erupting and killing them all while the usual Chaos Cultist wants the volcano to explode because the volcano promised there’s a chance they can become a lava monster if they just let them erupt all over everyone.
>>
>>98733460
You get 3 missions and you can either complete one of the side missions to get a point or turn that card in and not get the point but to use one of the effects on the card. Complete all 3 and you get rewarded even more points.
And there's a massive ton of melee, where you fight, and then your opponent chooses what unit he wants to fight with, and then you fight with another unit, and then he does the same, and its just constant back and forth.

>>98733541
And there's some interaction and decision making when youre fighting because units usually get buffed by other units when certain units are in combat range. So your prioritizing which units you want to fight with first to maximize their potential while also deciding which of your opponents units you want to target to deny them abilities when they activate. And of course you have all out attack and all out defense which reward good timing.

AoS is a much better game by far but unfortunately getting people in my area to play anything but 40k is like pulling teeth

If we are talking Warhammer in any regard, I want to discuss the material itself, not reference a dozen outside works and use those to try and form a world view. Need airbrush advice:
What I've been told is I really want to get an AS18 or AS186 compressor, with 186 being heavily favored for the air tank vs the tankless 18.
And to avoid like the white plastic box compressors bundled with airbrushes

My main intended uses are gonna be priming, base coating, but also doing blends and volume highlights. I'm not planning to do super tight work on it, but, more than just "blast a whole marine"
I live currently in an apartment, though it doesn't need to be utterly silent just, you know, hopefully not a jet engine.
So I guess my question is, does the AS186 really make sense? Am I buying a sledgehammer for a nut? Am I losing my mind? Let me know
>>
>>98734792
Not an ork player but they look fine. Looks like every other ork model out there.
>>
>>98734792
Awesome update that proves how retarded and unnecessary primaris are.
>>
>>98734792
New sculpts are fantástic and the codex is very well designed. Squatted lootas make me sad. Some of the merged profiles are retarded (looking at meganob combi weapons or nob melee weapons) and nobs being a KT release means enforced schizo loadouts. Other than that, it's great.
>>
>>98734792
I think they're great. The new bikes are far superior to the old ones, the new boyz are way better than the last batch of boyz and personally I like em more than the twerkaboyz too, even if the twerkaboyz have superior customization options. Weirdboy is a bit of sidegrade since I miss the exposed brain on the old weirdboy but I love the dakkarig and the return of the wartrakk, plus the new bannernob is great.

Honestly my only misgiving so far with the ork refresh so far is nobz being locked behind a killteam and being mono-loadout at that.
>>
>>98734892
>even if the twerkaboyz have superior customization options
Do they really? They have flat arm joints sure but at the cost of every single model being in the exact same pose and they had way fewer designs for each part. The extent 99% of people customized their boyz was getting 3rd party heads to vary things a bit and it's just as easy to do with the new ones.
>>
>>98734792
the dakka rig looks shit everything else looks really good
>>
>>98734860
The lack of a tank is annoying even when priming. It'll work, obviously, but the pulsing is very noticeable so I'd recommend getting a compressor with a tank. Besides, the difference is like $50 at most. Suspending the compressor with some stretchy cord makes it significantly quieter.
>>
>>98734896
Yeah, they have tons of extra shoulder pads, pouches, trophies, iron gobs, random bullet accoutrements, etc. Maybe "better accessories" would've been the better phrasing, but point is you had way more doodads to gussy up your boyz on the twerkaboyz kit than it looks you get with the new boyz. I personally like the new boyz better enough to consider that a sidegrade, but it's a shame we don't have all those extra gubbins for them all the same.

You know that's not true at all. This is just a step towards female space marines. That's it. It has nothing to do with what Custodes players want.
Almost all Custodes players I know love SoS. I was a competitive Custodes player so I know a lot of 'em. And they all wanted more SoS stuff. Everyone did. GW doesn't care.

>Thread Question
The commander of my IG is a Rogue Trader from a minor noble house in the far, far eastern fringe. Escaped a dying planet and now they sell their martial prowess to the highest bidder. This far from Terra and Galactic Center, the rules are played fast and loose. We have actual mechanics (no admech, hereteks at best) and have no problem using Xenotech, up to and including my personal "power weapon" which happens to be a Tyranid bonesword. Also, we don't use standard Imperial tech so most of our shit is cobbled together from battlefield salvage. We fight Tau a lot, and yes we have alot of Tau weaponry and tech.

My Hive Tyrant is likewise severed from the Hive Mind because of some previous Ordo Xenos/Magos Biologis experimentation, and commands a small splinter Hive Fleet independent of the main Tyranid swarm. She can be bargained with, reasoned with, and communicated to. Main goal right now is enlarging the hive by assimilating other Tyranid biomass.

Either way, we HATE dedicated antitank. Defilers, Predators w lascannons, anything w Lascannons. Although the Rogals are better dealtwith via chip damage until the ablative armor is used up.

Should Termies be 200/400?
>>
>>98735157
Maybe? I'm finding that all the new codexes have everything be tougher but not really any killier. Damage is more consistent but overall a bit lower on average in all 3 codexes they've shown. Seems like they really want to tone down lethality which I'm fine with.
>>
>>98735075
This looks like shit
>>
>>98735157
They already are with cyclone missiles, which I imagine most people will still take (I love my assault cannons tho). Personally I think 10 bricks of terminators shouldn't be allowed, limit them to 5 just like custodes are being limited to 3. Too easy to stack buffs on a single unit worth 1/4 of your army's points.
>>
>>98735173
Terminators with AP-2 and -3 on everything isn't doing much to tone down lethality.
>>
>>98735178
I really don't understand what they're thinking with wargear costs. It was bad in 10th because verything was free but what's the point of bringing them back if they are gonna do shit like making cyclone missiles (which don't replace the storm bolter like the other heavy weapons) are just +5 points. In 8th they were +34 points and still were considered the best option.
>>
>>98735184
No, but consider that terminators in 10th were fucking dogshit. This is just putting them in line with actually good units.
>>
They could add 10 points to every marine infantry unit and only a handful of them would look unappealing (scouts, infiltrators, intercessors). The vehicles are about right, many of them got downgraded abilities and only their light guns got stronger (not nothing).
>>
>>98735200
Makes sense. In 10th marne infantry was generally pretty bad and most lists just spammed vehicles.
>>
>>98735196
Terminator spam has been very strong in 11th even before these upgrades.
>>
>>98735207
Assault terminators, yeah. Regular terminators were still not great because they couldn't kill shit. That's why regular termies got improved weapons and assault termies are exactly the same.

Why are you needing to disinfect? You're not eating it. I'd only do that if it had gotten wet (to avoid mold/mildew) or had animal waste in it.
You shouldn't be worried about bacteria and germs, they're all over your models anyway.
>oven safe large metal containers
Baking sheet? Cake pan? You could also just use a glass/pyrex dish, it's not like you're going to be getting the oven to temps to melt glass. I anneal CF nylon 3d prints in a pyrex dish in a toaster oven, the temperature required would kill any germ/bacteria and the dish is fine.
>thinning pva to milk consistency with water
I've done it both ways, I haven't found much of a difference beyond time it takes to set with larger ballast. I mostly use "medium" ballast because it fits the "dry soil" texture of the area I grew up in. I could probably make it look better by thinning my glue and mixing in fine ballast as well, but I'm lazy.

>SoS, it's the reason why GW canned their codex and then shoved into the custodes.
the two were always meant to be together

to say gw canned their codex and shoved them together with custodes is like saying gw canned the cult mechanicus or tempestus scions codexes
>>
>>98735294
This is the basis of many of the complaints around factions
GW manufactures the problem and then uses that problem as a justification to make the problem worse, circling on itself until they either cut the faction (like they did to SoS in HH) or are forced to pull their heads out of their asses and make a token change so they can claim they did something.
>>98735335
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Proximan_Betrayal
Proxima Centauri is the closest star in the Alpha Centauri system to Earth, and its 2nd orbiter (Proxima b) is believed to be an Earthlike planet.
There's also a blurb from the 7th Cult Mechanicus codex about a Martian civil war in M34 where the Prophet of Cogs was defeated, with rumors of him surviving in the Alpha Centauri system in M41.

if the detail is too clogged you think it ruins the model your only solution is to strip it. you do this by putting it in a jar of 91-97% alcohol if its plastic, simple green if its resin, and acetone if its metal, then letting it sit for a day, take it out and rinse it under hot water and scrub it with a tooth brush, and continue until the paint is off.
