Master Technomancer build focused on information, infrastructure, magical cybersecurity, digital services, dealing with memetics, and being the high priest/administrator of a nascent machine god later on. Long-term goals are to entrench technomancy in Toronto (and the world at large I guess) by gradually integrating it into the local mundane infrastructure and zeitgeist and eventually turn the city into a seat of power for technomancers(most especially me of course), giving a massive home field advantage for us. (Namesake animal is ravens btw, they're cool)

Main job would basically be an occult information broker and artificer. Identifying Others, researching & making relics and magic items, investigating & selling intelligence, and turning Toronto into a technomantic paradise (dystopia). Eventual plan is to promote mundane technological & infrastructure developments that just so happen to benefit technomancers in ways that doesn't piss off Karma. Then we'll have sensors up the wazoo, smart infrastructure, internets of things, automated surveillance, etc. Innos will see it as modernization (aka Flock/Palantir tyranny) while other practitioners see the city become increasingly machine-readable for my craft. Once I'm sufficiently established I'm planning on buying the building with the God in the Machine and turn that into my homebase, maybe demesne, and maybe make up some company like Theosis Computing Solutions.

I had a WIP mostly vaguely inspired by Fate and ever so slightly by Isekai Bounty Hunter, so you're sent by god to fix a bunch of warped parallel worlds a la Lostbelts from FGO. The worlds are warped in a sense that they do have a "storyline" but it's broken, self-referential and archetypes present in them are also corrupted, i.e. a noble king archetype is instead a cold, detached tyrant, or a story about secret magic society is warped into world war of supernatural, etc. It's more about stories, archetypes and legends being "retold" wrongly, like someone who doesn't understand them would.
I actually planned out the power picking section, two of five worlds... And it just kind of stopped there. Like a switch turned off; no inspiration, no idea what to do next, no idea why I even thought this silly thing was interesting or worth fleshing out.
It's so bizzare to look at something you've created (at least partly) and just feel nothing but confusion. No "I'll do it later" or "Okay, this is kinda cringe, but..." or even "I want to rewrite what I have". Just nothing.
It's sad.

>if casters aren't required to adhere to the rules of reality, neither should martials, so let me Raiden the shit out of the boss, reee, REEEEE

That solution works fine if you're coming from an anime/weaboo/video game background but a lot of people who play martials don't want to play someone who breaks reality in that way. They want to play Conan or Aragorn or Lancelot. They want to be strong and tough and skilled with a sword, and that's it. No special skills or advantages (being masterful alone is a kind of magic - “he’s a wizard with a sword”). Maybe you can get away with letting them kick down a solid oak door or deflect an arrow with their sword but anything beyond that clashes with the archetype they want to play.

I have found that you can get by using magic items. In my experience at least some of this type of player are determined to have their character stay purely mundane but don't mind if he picks up the ability to fly from a magic cloak or a blessing he's gifted by a nymph or whatever. Or maybe you become a wizard over time as you learn more and collect more.

i disagree because that synergy produces bigger results, flow techniques have way more synergies than other affinity techniques do which means that stacking mutliple of them is way stronger, and on top of that one of the main tells that a technique is especially strong is if it has conditional extra expenditures of aura on top of activation which is very common with flow techniques, so feeling like you're taxed by not having encompassing world avatar and maybe omnipotent syncthronicity of elements is stupid in the same way if you'd think the same thing about the other elements and their respective legend status and similar support techniques

incidentally, i was just making an overpowered flow build even though i don't gravitate towards the affinity normally, i decided on flame and shadow for aesthetic reasons and then just dumped the normal suspects on top (the three master statuses, the legend status, and omnipotent synchronicity), besides that i also went with resolute center and oscillating motion so that there's even more benefit from reified champion since your physical abilities enhance your conductions through it

it's extremely strong even though my conduction chocies were aesthetic rather than minxmaxed, it's a lot more difficult to make something comparatively strong in the direct combat specialty with the other affinities, and that even includes core
>>
>>98735783
Yeah let’s go with that pal. Come back when you read some of the alterations and skills.

>>748500265
>>
>>98735819
i always interpreted that as barely being the case, it's not talking about raw affinities, it's talking about all the work it takes to carve the techniques themselves into your aura system
>>
>>98735831
The techniques rely on your aura system, so just like if you were doing it yourself having a higher affinity should logically make your techniques better.
>>
>>98735825
Meant for
>>98735559
But I got dickstacted while making this post.
>>
>>98735842
yes, but barely, the main thing sorcerer's servant eye is talking about in that context is the training of specific techniques, not having an appropriate aura system

so even if you have flow g3 and have a slave with rending scission conduction, forcing them to use it with your aura system is still going to be very weak because you've never trained up that technique, though it'll still be somewhat stronger than if you only had less than flow g3
>>
>>98735819
They have no affinity and affinity doesn't affect your techniques anyways.
>>
>>98735559
>It’s cute and funny
matterloli...
>>
>>98735842
oh, and in some cases weakness doesn't really matter, like if you have a slave with void paper sigil you basically don't need to learn it, it doesn't matter if the sigil takes longer to activate or something

>affinity doesn't affect your techniques anyways.
it does though, using a g1 technique with g3 affinity makes it stronger than its stated description
>>
>>98735870
>>98735862
>>
>>98735870
>makes it stronger than its stated description
It doesn't.
>>
>>98735853
Why would it be barely? That defeats the whole point of affinities. Like I'm not saying that LM actually deals with the whole 'you've never actually trained this technique before', those are seperate issues, but it should logically make a noticeable difference in the performance of those techniques.
>>
>>98735877
bro, do you just do this every thread, go around and make patently false claims and hope nobody bothers to actually tell you where the text says you're wrong so you can confuse people?

yes they do, all of the affinity paragraphs say it, for example when core g3 or flow g3 tell you your core techniques are super powerful it's not talking about specifically only g3 techniques, it's talking about all of them

fuck off retard

>>98735897
you're conflating affinity and technique learning

affinities allow you to train a technique, you still need to train the technique before you can use it though

that's how techniques are trained, they aren't just "i know how this is done so now i can do it", they're basically structures carved into your aura system that work on their own, if you didn't do that training then your aura system is untrained for a given technique whether you know exactly how it works or not

this does mean that such a slave would make it way more convenient to train the technique, but the work of carving it into your meridians would still need to be done before you overcome the weakness mentioned in sorcerer's servant eye

this is also why for example technique training time is bounded by aura availability and why the aura burst speeds up training, people can carve a lot more technique structures into their meridians when they have a ton of aura available
>>
>>98735913
We have a couple of incorrigibly bad actors here.
>>
>>98735913
>anon is actually dying on this affinity hill
Lol, lmao. Retard. Neither of those tell you your techniques get stronger. The only things that get better are your skills which in turn scale some techniques. You're thinking of core which gets better from athletics which athletics gets better from affinity.
>>
>>98735947
no, it very literally says all your techniques get stronger in the affinity descriptions specifically, this has nothing to do with core and athletics, core at g3 alone is stronger than core at g2 alone, regardless of athletics

then there's also a paragraph under the release technique intro that says the same thing, something about leaps and bounds stronger

you're comprehensively wrong
>>

it's a separate bonus, alchemy g3 is already stronger than alchemy g2, whether you have ceremony or not

ceremony is a kind of poor example anyway since it doesn't touch on like two thirds of what alchemy does, and you'd for example want scholar or tinkering for techniques like transmutation, while athletics covers everything core does

>It never says your techniques get stronger in affinity.
yes it does

combine these four quotes:
core g3:
>Your Core Techniques release with the power of a rampaging beast, mastered to their utmost potential.
phase g3:
>When you use Phase Techniques, you use them as a practiced master with nearly unapproachable acumen.
flow g3:
>When you use Flow techniques, you maximize their power and strategic utility to its greatest imaginable extent with few equals in Youdu.
alchemy g3:
>Your command of sorcery puts you among the great Sages of old, if not in title then in prowess.

with the following quote about techniques:
>A skilled user can optimize the strength and efficiency of their Techniques by leaps and bounds beyond their stated limits.

>>98736002
no, limitless meridians is the master of all, that's the problem

sure you can't start with a ton of investment in everything, but this is a cyoa where you can just train techniques in the future

hell the aura burst is right there as an option if you want to train +60 points of techniques super fast
>>
>>98736010
None of that says your lower techniques get stronger. The quote about techniques says you can optimize them if you're good at techniques, not that your affinities make them better. Try again.
>>
>>98735913
I'm not saying that having a high affinity will train me in whatever technique I happen to be using, because that's not what affinity does. I am saying that having a higher natural talent for the technique will make it better than if I had a lower one.
>>
>>98736020
nope, the affinities directly talk about your skill, and that skill is referenced in the technique post

check mate

>>98736022
this is correct, but i'm saying while it does make you a bit better, it's not comparable to actually knowing the technique, you are still severely weakened

i hope you however do realize how very broken it is to have a perfect rainer for a technique they already know, it's basically stronger than prodigy to just have them train the technique for you, and it also skips the awkward question of whether you can even find information about how a technique works so you can start training it, you just get that by default by enslaving a user of the technique
>>
>>98736010
Softies build in an aura burst is kind of insane when you think about it. Doesn't he regenerate aura naturally in a few seconds with how massive his pool is with sacred fountain? By that logic wouldn't he be able to train techniques super fast normally and the aura burst would make his entire pool regeneration basically instant?
>>
>>98736030
meant for >>98735913
>>
>>98736030
yes, it's very strong to take high aura regen, especially if he also has prodigy, but he's too dumb to notice and seems to be focusing on all sorts of other things where the aura regen is way less of a benefit, and even if he wasn't too dumb to notice it probably still wouldn't occur to him to hoard technique knowledge before the burst so he can just train for 3.5 days during it without wasting precious time
>>
>>98736030
we can't forget that there are other ways of getting the same or even greater benefits though, universal sovereign, if you use it right, could give you thousands of times more regen than anytihng you can get as a baseline, and there are other simpler ways of making aura regen networks, like even yokai default to having an aura drain technique for free and draining a bunch of people every day could already accelerate you a lot, but there are other ways like some sigils too
>>
>>98736039
NTA, but personally I just use mind split+aura drain and have a lot of aura slaves, pretty much has the same effect and it's essentially free for my build as I was going to do a yokai with mind split anyways, mind split on its own is an op training multiplier
>>
>>98736028
>this is correct, but i'm saying while it does make you a bit better, it's not comparable to actually knowing the technique, you are still severely weakened
Again, I'm not saying LM will make my techniques equal to where they would be if I knew them myself, I'm saying it'll make them notable better than they would be if I didn't have it.
Also to help deal with this I have Signature Technique (which per WOG does make the techniques my bound souls use stronger) and Prodigy.

>i hope you however do realize how very broken it is to have a perfect rainer for a technique they already know, it's basically stronger than prodigy to just have them train the technique for you, and it also skips the awkward question of whether you can even find information about how a technique works so you can start training it, you just get that by default by enslaving a user of the technique
Yeah, that is also another thing I plan on making extensive use of.
>>
>>98736070
i agree that mind split is very strong, but you need to be careful about what it means to have a distributed aura system like that

for example, in my mind slit build, i considered having a bunch of youdu sleepers that only regen aura while spending that aura to do shit on earth, this should mean that most of my aura regen is working at youdu speed but it's not actually confirmed anywhere

this does bring to mind the fact that it may not even make your technique training faster to be mind split, if training a technique means you're carving it into your aura structure, there's no certainty that having more bodies to do that with is beneficial, it could be that just a single one is already making full use of the potential

>Again, I'm not saying LM will make my techniques equal to where they would be if I knew them myself, I'm saying it'll make them notable better than they would be if I didn't have it.
anon i've already agreed with this three times by now, i just think that while it would obviously help, it still wouldn't be getting rid of the basic weakness problem
>>
>>98736081
>>98736078
>>
>>98736030
Yea that was a decently big portion of what I said when I originally posted the build. I'm fully self sufficient for aura and have access to spirits who are the proprietors of all kinds of secret techniques and hoarded knowledge, and I took secrets special advantage for my sect to show this. I don't really need to learn many more techniques, and mostly focus on spirit ones. I wanted to make new techniques, like coming up with a technique to do a kodoku jar and merge spirits, making a technique to create spirits like soul coagulation, making a technique to channel spirits through you like a temporary fusion without permanently turning you into one, and coming up with a better form of alchemy immortality than universal sovereign. I really like eye techniques, so making a spirit tuned eye power like Exorcists Pure Eye or something to affect spirits and maybe see across dimensions would be cool.
>>
>>98736081
>anon i've already agreed with this three times by now, i just think that while it would obviously help, it still wouldn't be getting rid of the basic weakness problem

and apparently still are
>>
>>98736081
Well mind splitting is a massive buff simply because it resolves a lot of logistical problems like a regular person wouldn't be able to train 24/7 because they would have other obligations, sleep, etc. but if you have multiple bodies there is nothing stopping at least one of your bodies doing the training at all moments in time.

that guy is literally the dude i argued with the most in this thread lmao, try again

>>
>>98736149
>>98736138
i meant 2000% obviously, but the point still stands
>>
>>98736138
Personally I would say that the most powerful aspect of having all G3 affinities is popping out those uber powerful kids, its going to fuck over the entire power balance of youdu in a few generations.
>>
>>98736169
i don't think it's guaranteed to give all your kids g3, they'll probably be more normal top-tier scions, similar to the other factions and great if you're starting your own new sect

also the description of limitless meridians says it's almost unheard of or something like that, not literally unprecedented, so there's a bit of that in the mix too
>>
>>98736149
Nice try anon but that was me not you.
>>
>>98736172
Well it explains that bloodlines determining affinity are hereditary and that genetically speaking your a golden opportunity for the dynasties of youdu if they secure your geners. Which implies that Limitless miridians might be heritable. So even if every child is going to be born with all the G3 affinities its probably still going to make those children extremely potent compared to most people in youdu. The power system in spirit conscript seems highly eugenics based
>>
>>98736186(correction)
*so even if not every child going to be born with

>Which implies that Limitless miridians might be heritable.
it can also just meant that really good aura systems are heritable, it would still be a gold mine at that point, look at the retarded shit the ninokata are doing over one phase g3 kid and some misandry

>its probably still going to make those children extremely potent compared to most people in youdu.
certainly

People should post more spirit conscript builds.
>>
>>98736149
More like 10% power to 40%
>>
>>98736198
I kinda wonder if G3 is a hard limit or only a soft cap and potentially there can exist G4 or higher? The big spirits seem to be capable of pulling bullshit on some other level
>>
How can I justify gods crossing into different worlds that shouldn't really have gods so you can make pacts with them dragonfall style?
>>
>>98736211
oh, that's easy, divine colonialism the gods want more lands to spread their belief and gain more worshipers, the places that shouldn't have gods are just locations that their grubby hands haven't reached yet or that were capable of defending themselves against their spread.
>>
>>98736205
nah, that's way too generous for just affinity to move it that far on its own, at that point you'd have a completely different setting where g3s just use techniques based on vibes at 40% power so why ever learn any technique for real, very obviously going against the intent
>>
>dragonfall style
Gross, I think someone just farted
>>
>>98736221
That doesn't make sense. You'd still have to actually know how to do the technique, G3 isn't exactly common, and 40% isn't exactly good. I mean the borrowed techniques are still meant to be usable, even if weak.
>>
This reminds me of my chimera build. What do you think is better to start with for making super-chimeras, vessel transfer or extinction relapse. Im leaning Extinction relapse because it gives supernatural DNA and traits while vessel transfer doesn't seem to actually let you edit pre-existing bodies.
>>
>>98736239
personally, assuming we start with your assumption of 10%, i think the sequence would go something like 10% to 15%, not randomly 40%, there's no way that much of a contribution would happen from affinity alone

also even at 1% they'd still be usable, maybe the combat ones couldn't compete but a lot of utility techniques wouldn't actually be much worse even with that kind of power malus

of course this is just my interpretation, you can do whatever you like in your own fantasy, including making your particular choices the best one by fiat
>>
>>98736241
for useful ones that do waht you want? mind split + efflorescence of monstrosity + vessel transfer + perfect perspective or hypnotist's spiral eye, this lets you turn someone you dislike into a tardbeasts that behaves exactly the way you want

for out of control chimeras that just fuck shit up, chimera nucleus + unbinding of the abyss lords
>>
>>98735982
yep
>>
>>98736246
NTA but what is with these percentages anyways? Doesn't G3 just make you learn the techniques faster? Kinda seems strange to assume that you can use technique without training.
>>
>>98733774
needing to know the full production chain to use digital magic is retarded since it's the software that is doing the magic not the hardware, you should need to know the history of programming and "information chain" behind the program not some irrelevant bs like which mines they got the materials for the computer from
>>
>>98736246
There's no way in actual hell the techniques were meant to be 100 times weaker, come on now. Even utility techniques would be basically nonexistant with this. Given the differences implied by the description 10-40% is much more reasonable (though I could probably be talked down to 30%).
>>
>>98736249
Thats not at all what I asked and just downright terrible suggestions.
>>
>>98736241
definitely vessel transfer as it can give your chimeras some op alterations while extinction relapse might be counter productive what if one of the chimeras escapes and makes one of the components you used no longer extinct? then you can't summon it.
>>
>>98736267
you can use sorcerer's servant eye to enslave someone who knows a technique you don't and have them use your own aura system to cast it, and if it's a technique you don't know it's severely weakened from normal, anon and i are discussing our different interpretations of what that means

we have previously in this thread established that higher affinity does equal being better and stronger at using the same technique, like if you compare a g1 technique used by a g1 aura user and the same g1 technique used by a g3 aura user, the second one will be a lot stronger, this isn't really a matter of interpretation, you just need to read the cyoa properly

Vessel transfer theoretically allows you to grant alterations, but this is a bad idea for something expendable like a chimera, since even for Kofuko it had "permanent costs".
>>
>>98736269
I mean you're arguing with Spirits who are actually retarded. It makes sense that its incredibly convoluted because how would you convince them about ownership of software and digital products? That shit is still debated by corporations and courts. Remember, the Spirits are the ones who legitimize your magic, so it's their ruling on how its supposed to be that makes it possible in the first place. Works off what they know in a way they can track it, tracing physical production and linking it to individuals in the similar vein of how Implements can be traced back to their creators, with most of the same stipulations of having such a connection still in play.

>>98736286
My chimeras are not expendable, but doesn't vessel transfers description seem to not say anything about editing existing vessels like say an infant chimera? I don't know if you could grant alterations to them like that which is my concern. Theoretically you could pay beast slayers or get samples of chimeras with dna you want but that sdems unreliable.
>since even for Kofuko it had "permanent costs
That seems to be kofuko specific and is never elaborated on, unrelated to vessel transfer.
>>
>>98736305
I mean you can try, but part of getting a magic working is routine, so convincing the spirits as an individual is not even half the battle, even being acknowledged by the courts themselves. You'd probably have to try convincing members of it to change their practice, and might be better off attempting to make your own. It's pretty much set in stone far as I can see as everything is created from a foundation set much earlier, but then again even though Technomancy is about 30 years old, something like Reality Shifting is less than 3 years, so who knows. Theoretically, you only need a few hundred people to try and achieve it as that's all it took for Cultivation to become a thing.

Philosemitic histrionics
>>
>>98736279
huh... well personally I would just say that you cast the technique at around 40% of its strength for your affinity level. No clue what would be the power boost gained from a G1 or G3 core, but just saying that you cast it at 40% if what you could if you had learned it sounds like an adequate enough description. I think 40% if not more it needs a decent enough number otherwise the technique gets too weak as it still cost you devotion to have these trapped souls. Hitting something at 40% is already terribly inefficient like you would need to spend 2,5 the times of aura to deal the same amount of damage.
>>
>>98736344
You randomly claim, without anything particularly supporting your opinion from the text. We know that your chargen was performed via vessel transfer and had permanent costs, this isn't in question. If you want to cherry pick that some parts didn't have permanent costs, that's your prerogative, but there isn't really anything in the text that goes to that specific level of detail, it's just disfavored as an interpretation because of the aforementioned setup with your chargen.
>>
>>98736368
well personally i think you'd start at 0.1% and after only one cast it would already have grown to 0.5% because the early gains of carving it into your meridians are that quick despite the fact that the author said learning a technique takes years of carving
>>
>>98736353
I prefer to call it judeo-christian brain rot myself.
>>
>>98736373
Its not a random claim, its the exact text of the ability and what he says. For all we know his permanent cost is him giving us the magic items we get, vessel transfer says nothing about permanent costs to you and kofuko only says he lost something for making us once in passing with no elaboration except that he is uniquely suited to do that, its ignorant to instsntly assume has anything to do with vessel transfer we can learn when he says its unique to him.
>>
>>98736390

>>
>>98736373
NTA but if the technique had a really terrible personal cost it would have been written on the technique itself. If it doesn't, it probably doesn't have one otherwise we have to worry about the possibility of Kofuku being an unreliable narrator and all techniques having possible hidden costs he didn't mention in descriptions directly.

>>98736383
oh, you assume that the technique is trainable trough the sorcerers eye, but I personally assume it is stagnant and is always going to remain at the same percentage unless you learn the technique yourself and for that you will need to go trough the whole extensive training process.

It is elaborated on. Kofuko says there's permanent cost. If you do the same thing in the same manner as Kofuko san, then that consequently means you'll also pay permanent cost.
>>
>>98736414
The information provided supports me because it is not listed upon the technique and what required a cost is never elaborated on. Thank you for your concession.
>>
>>98736424
>Kofuko says there's permanent cost.
Not to vessel transfer, jist to whatever unique thing he did/does for us. Again, this can just as easily be the fact he has a unique weapon closet we're allowed to take from. It's definitely not related to the vessel transfer technique we get since its not listed in the technique and he never elaborates on it.
>>
>>98736421
i don't see why you'd assume that, since there's nothing stopping you from training any tehnique you want and have enough affinity for

obviously your aura system producing a technique will train your aura system to produce that technique better in the future, that's what technique training entails in this setting, and like i mentioned earlier, it's also the reason why massive amounts of aura during the aura burst mean that everyone will be learning techniques at massive speed, the bottleneck is the meridian carving which requires aura to repeatedly cycle in your aura system in the shape of the technique
>>
>>98736407
well the benefit part is refers to benevolent alterations and the suffer part to malignant ones, there is nothing told about the cost.
>>
>>98736432
>Not to vessel transfer, jist to whatever unique thing he did/does for us.
You're just making that up or deliberately refusing to read the CYOA. Kofuko did a vessel transfer to the reader. This is explicit. He outright says so. That's how the CYOA starts and where your chargen comes from.
>>
>>98734640
Just use your magic to do Right deeds bro. A rank 3 Technomancer is arguably one of the most well equipped people in the city to save Innocents from supernatural stuff. Learning the supply chains of things like cameras and phones first would be best, so you can easily extend your gaze around and use the phones as proxies to contact and manipulate Innocents and the authorities, and then moving up from there.

Like in the challenge with the Havour preying on that professor, you could (truthfully) inform library maintenance staff that the carrel desks the professor is vandalizing need inspection by making a maintenance ticket in whatever software they use for scheduling maintenance and putting it at the top of the queue, causing him to get kicked out.
Next, use his phone to follow him home, then brick his thermometer to keep the heater on, making his place hot as hell and encouraging him to take a shower and change into lighter clothes.
Finally, use some money to buy a gift voucher to a high-end restaurant or something, and send it to his phone or email anonymously (don't forget to make the phone beep obnoxiously so he checks it). Call it an academic gift or whatever, as long as it gets him out his hot, stuffy house and downtown it works.

Bricking that guys thermometer might be a minor karmic bad since you used magic to negatively affect an Innocent's life, but the whole of the act is a big karmic good since you preserved Innocence and saved him from a hostile Other. If the original Pact is any indication, incidents like this are happening all the time, so you'll always have chances to wipe karmic debt from knowing supply chains.
>>
>>98736437
That's a self-indulgent interpretation that goes against the spirit of the material.
>>
>>98736444
If you can't even read the paragraph you're quoting, allow me to get it for you. The quote is from the lore document and is entirely unrelated to vessel transfer, and is left entirely vague and never elaborated on. In fact, it's much more likely he's referring to giving us items, training or other capability boosting things than anything relating to vessel transfer. If it was a permanent cost from transfer, it would be listed on the technique.

I accept your concession, you have no idea what you're even arguing about.
>>
>>98736460
Wow he even says its unique to him, the anon saying it has anything to do with vessel transfer is retarded.
>>
>>98736460
It's not unrelated at all. It's referring to the start of the CYOA and chargen, which is explained in two different places in the main CYOA as being done via Vessel Transfer, once in the technique's own writeup, and once in the very first line of the very first paragraph in the entire CYOA.
>>
>>98736451
that is just your interpretation which isn't anymore valid than mine in my eyes its in line with the material.
>>
>>98736480
Our interpretations are only technically equal if you ignore all the fluff surrounding the topic and act like a lawyer instead.
>>
>>98736471
>It's referring to the start of the CYOA and chargen
Completely up in the air and never elaborated on.
>via Vessel Transfer
Which does not have the unique permanent costs he is expending, because its unique to him, never listed in the ability, and we have no idea what the permanent costs were.
>>
>>98736471
That text clearly says its permanent cost only he can expend and has nothing to do with the vessel transfer technique.
>>
>>98736495

You're tiresome. You've completely failed to convince me you're doing anything other than torturing the CYOA's logic for the sake of self-indulgence. You remind me of the retard who thought it was okay to make factions both foes and nemeses at the same time, because nothing technically says you can't lmao.
>>

>>
>>98736511
It sounds like you're the one making up fluff that isn't there anon. It has nothing to do with our vessel transfer technique.
>>
>>98736436
huh... then I am just confused by the whole learning process if you can use the technique before your fully learned it why don't just call the process of learning only the part where you learn to cast the technique on the basic level learning and what comes after it mastery. Because doesn't this mean that if you use enough ritual phrases you can reach baseline level even if you haven't fully learned the technique?
>>
>>98736520
I accept your concession, next time don't lie and then throw a fit when you're proven wrong.
>>
>>98736522
you don't use it, the enslaved soul uses your aura system to use it

presumably, starting to learn a technique the normal way would also be like this 0.1% to 0.5% business, except a lot slower since you don't already know how to do it the way the enslaved soul does

>Because doesn't this mean that if you use enough ritual phrases you can reach baseline level even if you haven't fully learned the technique?
yeah, but baseline level in the sense of what's written in the cyoa, not in the sense of how good you would be with a properly learned technique

Yes, and it being technically possible allows one to invoke Death of the Author as its a valid interpretation that does not contradict the text. As vessel transfer was never mentioned directly to have a great cost.
>>
>>98736602
Anon, the vessel transfer is how the chargen happens, and the permanent cost is a reference to the vessel transfer and chargen. Just because you want to play mental gymnastics that end up with those potentially not being related that doesn't mean they aren't. I mean, technically they might not be, but you can't get around the fact that you're using tortured logic to make that leap.

>>98736607
I accept your admission that you're just sartreing.

>>98736618
You're still being the one doing mental gymnastics and making conncections and leaps of logic completely unsupported by the cyoa itself. Point to the text where it says vessel transfer has a permanent cost, oh wait, you can't because kofuko never even hints vessel transfer was the thing requiring the cost and is in fact debunked by it being kofuko unique.
>>
>>98736628
No, my conclusion is natural and follows directly from the text. Your conclusion follows from selectively ignoring the text and a hefty amount of cope.

nope, I am rules lawyering which is a complete different thing I still obey the text as written.

>>98736653
So I have been wanting to make a shapeshifter build that takes Mythic Beast as a Signature Technique so that I can out Monster the Monsters as a beast hunter. My mythic beast form is a kaiju sized multiheaded dragon (a bit like King Ghidorah but not a wyvern), with all sorts of goodies like redundant organs, powerful senses, and nigh invulnerable scales. For the special bonus I would obviously choose flame breath if it’s limited to one, but I think Signature Technique might let me get more. My recovery disposition is usable in combat and one of my strategies will be to literally devour my enemies.

Outside of Mythic Beast my build is a bit bare as I am somewhat Potentialmaning here but I did take Illumination of the Heart as finding legendary’s in the wild is hard and I will need it when I face down the Abyss Lords (any decent Lovecraft monster has mental stuff). I also have a good team with a strong set of powers I will be learning from and vice versa, as well as a faction that has secrets. Technique Artistry is also relevant here as it enables me to teach other people techniques easier, and my sect is eagerly waiting for the Aura Burst. Not for me but the most important Technique for my companions and sect to learn will be Inhuman Evolution (big part of taking Fumie) so that my Monster Hunting team can all have monster forms as it changes the tactics of the whole thing significantly.

Made sure not to piss off any other factions as I really want to stay PVE against monsters (and be loved by everyone) and not mess with the true nightmare PVP of the city (and King Yama can fuck off with his need for “Muscle”).

When it's done. Speaking of Hentai Heroine, I just finished painting a big ass dragon. Now I only have 1 medium dragon and 6 small dragons left. The 6 small dragons have not arrived yet, since they are being shipped from Burger Land. So if I finish the medium dragon, I'll work on Hentai Heroine until the 6 small dragons arrive.

Speaking of cool shit, I saw the new MtG precon commander set and god damn, that Jace commander is looking so fucking good. Would love to fill my deck with nothing but 8+ mana creatures. So fucking good, I'm getting that deck and modifying it 100%, donno if I'll turn it into a turbo dragon autist deck or a mismatch of the most disgusting creatures imaginable.

Anyways, Hentai Heroine will be so much fun. I'm really hyped to be working on it relatively soon. I have some new ideas for new takes on old concepts never seen before in the lewd isekai genre, and I look forward to seeing how they are received when I release it. Also been considering adding more drawbacks, but as it stands, Hentai Heroine currently has over 300 drawbacks. So I might add more point tax options or options you want to spend points on. I have decided it should be 15 pages, so that will be fun.

4chan no longer kill.
>It seems too strong
Welcome to anime anon, the whole point of Signature Technique is to get a custom Technique at around Legendary level.

I might add that I haven't actually made any specific claims about how powerful my Dragon form is other than saying Kaiju size (which is actually extremely variable) and MORE LIKE florescence of Monstrosity or Divine War Form (I didn't say 100% equivalent). The raw power of the form is just a base anyway as I will be actively increasing it via Core and Phase Training (with the eventual goal of Legend Status in both), the real value of a signature technique is Aura economy anyway. Maybe it ISN'T as good as a War Form but it cost 8 Aura instead of 15 and no continuous drain either.

As for the size of it, there is no stated limit on Mystic Beast and Signature Technique explicitly improves it in anyway it can be improved. Size is definitely fair game IMO and if Mystic Beast lets you be a Dragon, then Signature Technique Mystic Beast should let you be Ancalagon the Black.

Thats not even close to what Signature Technique says or does. Lots of illiterate anons today.

Anons are starting to realize why Stalkers (and the Ninokata in particular) are so feared. Their abilities could let them get the jump on you or attack so fast you can't even activate a defensive technique in time even it is is a good one. This isn't a criticism of any particular build it's a reality that Phase Users have a counter for almost everything and are VERY hard to protect against even for a genuine powerhouse.

>>98737151
personally i'm partial to a little alchemy for ultracombos like tracking sigil + distortion
>>
>>98737130
Oh man it's been a long time since I went through the builds. I don't think there were many Stalker builds to begin with, and the potential maxing really kept people from buying the juiciest Phase powers anyway. But a genuine developed phase user with just a nice set of basic and great phase powers (that would easily bankrupt us if we tried to start with them) would be terrifying.
>>
>>98737157
That's a viable path too. In my case stacking more onto my weapon seemed better.
>>
>>98737141
No one was implying an autistic Phase only build. Most builds are dominant in one affinity or another and that's what I mean by Phase user.
>>
Flow can do similar things to phase when you get into it. Merging with the scenery is a lot like mirror world inversion or master status distortion for movement and stealth, being made up of energy that needs an elaborate approach to wound is a lot like waning lunar eon's defense, etc.
>>
>>98737194
Flow is the bloody ultimate affinity if you are smart enough to come up with the right synergy but unfortunately I is the big dumb and can only think of surface level stuff.
>>
>>98737200
Just make a build, it's fun. Medium sublimation is the real advanced combo technique, but you don't need it, going with encompassing world avatar and omnipotent synchronicity of the elements instead works really well too. I wouldn't say it's the ultimate affinity. It's self-sufficient, you don't need to support it with another the way core and phase really need each other. Which is a good thing, since flow also really benefits from being heavily invested into, way more than the other affinities.
>>
>talking about cyoas I don't like
Yuck. Wake me up when September ends.
>>
>>98736779
>she said the line again
>>
>>98737239
You're surprised?
>>
>>98737215
That's a good perspective. That self sufficiency really is nice and it would have been an important consideration if we didn't have Limitless Meridians, but either way it is it's own thing and a true flow master will be heavily invested in it.
>>
>>98737245
Consider the likes of medium sublimation and reified champion though.

I'd have taken signature technique for my spirit sovereign build but I dont think it would do anything for spirit subjugation.
>>
>>98737264
It would help you have more aura softie.
>>
>>98737264
it would let you turn every spirit you subjugate into a succubus version of itself so that you could drop the retarded odalisue technique
>>
>>98737264
Yea the phrase "some techniques have more room for improvement" is really important and I sighed at all the people who took legendaries or whatever as signatures that realistically wouldn't benefit from it. For Spirit Subjugation it does what it does and can't see it doing it better really without touching the core of its mechanics so I say you are wise to not waste an alteration on it.
>>
>>98737281
Why would I drop a technique as good as that?
>>
>>98737283
Nah but >>98737281 is fair game? I'm not either one of them but I think it checks out.
>>
>>98737287
You can already do that with the base.
>>
>>98737287
A variant technique could maybe do that. Variant technique is slept on IMO for modifying techniques that are already peak power but could use a mechanic change.
>>
>>98737296
I used variant technique 4x once. I used variants of each of the legend statuses. The result? True immortality. Fuck everything else.
>>
>>98737300
>>98737116
>>
>>98737300
Lol, I KNOW pca would say it doesn't work like that but if the legend statuses really are a failed attempt at something possible then tweaking it really might succeed like that.
>>
>>98737303
Calling people illiterate while incapable of reading the difference between variant and signature. Shame!

>>98737306
The idea was that each of them was made weaker individually but together they make a four-part combo that's stronger than the original techniques.
>>
>>98737303
We are talking about variant techniques, not signature techniques. Dam illiterate.

>>
>>98737320
Sorry I need to remember most of the thread has sub 80 IQ and plays cyoas with the intent of sartreing half the mechanics to be in their favor.
>>
variant techniques are slept on for a good reason

that good reason is that you can do the same shit with technique artistry without wasting an alteration slot

want your purgatorial flames to be pink instead of blue because you're a sissy? you don't need variant technique for that, basic technique artistry is enough

want to make an advanced summon combo that works exactly the way you want rather than the most direct mechanistic interpretation? master or legendary technique artistry will work

>>98737326
shut the fuck up you mongoloid, all you do is shit and fart, nobody needs your bullshit
>>
Ahhh, vigorous arguing about CYOAs. It is enough to warm a nu-author's heart.
>>
>>98737326
>did these guys... use the official sartre option, and sartre'd a mechanic with it???
gigachad yes.jpg
>>
>>98737337
Variant and Signature techniques really are borderline Sartre options. It kinda shows that PCA really was trying to be funny with us.
>>
>>98737283
I dunno, I keep kicking around if I should keep rebirth, it's a good thematic tie in to perennial lotus and my huge aura pool with sacred fountain and prevents me from caring about injuries and helps avoid death in the off-chance something hits me. If signature technique did much for me I might have considered it instead.
>>
>>98737347
no, he understood what cyoas are, you're supposed to have in cyoas so that's what they should be optimized for, if sartre options make a cyoa worse for arguing over on an argumentboard that's not a meaningful loss

by the way you forgot technique artistry, it's just as sartre as the other two

>>98737350
drop it, it's shit in your build, you have no synergy with it because you refuse to make your body strong enough to make use of it
>>
It's also worth noting that you could teach other people your variant technique, but a signature is empowered for you alone.
>>
>>98737361
its good precisely because I don't have core in my build, actually.
>>
>>98737361
>you're supposed to have in cyoas
damn, the word fun got censored there, clearly we're antifun now

>>98737364
if you had core in your build you'd have enough resilience to keep regenerating after every hit, you'd have extreme staying power

without any resilience you just die instantly so regeneration is meaningless
>>
>>98737367
>without any resilience you just die instantly so regeneration is meaningless
Regeneration keeps me from dying anon, of which I don't get otherwise since I don't have core.
>>
>>98737369
no, regeneration makes you recover from non-fatal wounds

if the wound is instantly fatal because you're extremely squishy, then there is nothing to regenerate, you're just dead

by the way you don't need core to be resilient, the only affinity that has no direct resilience is actually phase, both alchemy and flow have resilience options

consider a summon fusion, if you give yourself the resilience of one of your summons your regeneration stops being a wasted choice
>>
>>98737373
Nothing is fatal to me outside of total annihilation. I have enough regeneration at low dissipation to regenerate my entire body in seconds, and even at absolute bare minimum 0 aura in my pool no recovery dispositions active it only takes me two hours to regenerate my entire body.
>>
>>98737364
I have always been split on the value of Rebirth, especially without other regen to supplement. Personally at 5 points and an alteration slot, I would rather get Core, BUT if I had Lifelink and the Pain Recovery Disposition I would consider it. Not super appealing I know but it can be a crazy combo.
>>
>>98737380
>Nothing is fatal to me outside of total annihilation.
rebirth doesn't give you regeneration this strong, the only source of that sort of regeneration is reconciliation of the immortal coil
>>
>>98737380
NTA but you need to be an undead to survive decapitations IMO (with relevant choices of course).
>>
>>98737388
i don't think even undead would survive an actual crushing of the brain unless they had a core or flow technique that lets them ignore it
>>
>>98737394
Relevant Choices are Lich's Rattling Bones (maybe) and Corpse Stich (confirmed)

I made a new one.

>>
>>98737387
It does give you regeneration that strong if your aura regeneration is that strong. You could make the argument like this anon is >>98737388 that maybe something like a decapitation might kill me in the latter case of me having 0 aura in pool and needing two hours, but it could also just keep me alive since I'm regenerating constantly. I'm content to chalk that part up to a "might survive, might not".

As long as my soul is still inhabiting my body i'm regenerating aura though, and my aura regenerates much much faster the less aura I dissipate, at low dissipation and having eaten a meal for instance I can definitely regenerate most of my body in seconds before my head would die from a decapitation, and in fact regeneration would stop wounds from worsening or me from bleeding out. Rebirth is good because of how stupidly ridiculous I made my aura situation.
>>
>>98737411
corpse stitch is against amputation of parts, not destruction of parts
>>
>>98737394
>>98737411
Reread your comment and yea it might be Zombie logic where if you destroy the brain an Undead is toast.
>>
>>98737414
>It does give you regeneration that strong if your aura regeneration is that strong.
rebirth gives you regeneration that corresponds to how fast your full pool fills up, so the size of your pool is irrelevant

30 aura which fills up in 2 hours and 100 aura which fills up in 2 hours both provide the same amount of rebirth regeneration
>>
>>98737124
It's really absurd that some people make lesser versions of preexisting art. What purpose could they possibly have for doing this?
>>
>>98737431
>rebirth gives you regeneration that corresponds to how fast your full pool fills up
Yes that's what I said.
>>
>>98737414
when i said regeneration that strong i meant it doesn't recover you from chunks, only that core technique actually recovers you from a little sliver of bone or drop of blood, with only rebirth you'd still die easily against the tardbeasts out there that are punching you with the strength of ten thousand normal humans
>>
>>98737446
so it's not that strong? it takes two hours to regen from serious damage, just like the description says? glad you agree

i hope you're then aware that it takes seconds to die, not hours
>>
>>98737414
IMO even really high rebirth regen is only Wolverine Tier, not Deadpool level. If you get a truly lethal injury you can't regen because you are already dead and your soul has left your body. Otherwise there would be no reason to even consider the Resilience alteration.
>>
>>98737464
it's less than wolverine, it takes an hour to mend an amputation

like yeah it would stop you from bleeding out very fast but you'd be lying there for a while before you recovered
>>
>>98737447
It would recover me from chunks at no dissipation because of how fast my aura recovery is with a full pool, especially if I've got the nutrition recovery disposition going with cultivation legend. Now at a 2 hour window would it keep me alive the whole time to regenerate? I don't know if the regeneration would keep me functionally alive that whole time, but my bet is "yes" but i'm also willing to admit I could be wrong.
>>98737455
>it takes two hours to regen from serious damage
Only if i've used all of my aura and have no aura recovery active. Read the vast aura pools, the more you have still in your pool the faster you regenerate, I have it to the point where it can take literal seconds or minutes to regenerate my full body at no dissipation.
>>
>>98737467
I was potentially including a recovery disposition but yea we agree.
>>
>>98737472
>nutrition recovery disposition
Lol now I am imagining feeding a severed head baby food to help it regrow it's body.
>>
>>98737472
>It would recover me from chunks
absolutely not, rebirth does not recover from chunks at all, that's not part of its description or concept, you still need a functioning body to stay alive with rebirth

>Only if i've used all of my aura and have no aura recovery active.
the description says however long you'd take to recover your WHOLE pool, not how long it would take to recover 1 aura by 1 aura and sum it up to the same number as your whole pool

but you know what? even if you were right about this, you'd be changing it from 2 hours to 1 hour, so nothing would meaningfully change, you'd still die in seconds against a recovery time of an hour

>>98737478
the description of rebirth taking less than an hour to restore an amputation already includes all the recovery options in your favor, that includes everything softy is putting in his build and also meditating or something
