Got myself the separatist leaders and rocket b2s today. On one hand, I do like that they are bundling characters together, these shared boxes mean much less store shelf space and needing to buy fewer boxes for more plastic. On the other hand, it kinda sucks that I am throwing 3/5 of the box in the bits bin. I do love the rocket B2s.

I'll get around to painting them after finishing up my second box of dark troopers. I do have a bit of an issue with Legion kits in that once I have the basic build painted up (eg. Dark troopers with the minigun), I have little motivation to finish up the less useful minis.

Anyways, here are my mandos, for my Empire and CIS respectively. Say hi to Drace Kresyk and Yenna Ordo. Maybe some of you could remember them from my Palace Empire/Iron Tide documents that I posted here a few months ago.

I'm gonna try and auction-snipe a whole bunch of XWM stuff to have full Empire and Rebels collections. My plan is to eventually have full collections of each faction with 1-2 of each large ship, 2-4 of medium ships, 3-6 of the better small ships and 6-8 of the "chaffier" small ships.

Darth Tenebrous was the best sith Star Wars ever created and is insane Disney just made everything but his name not canon.
>>

What about him makes him the best?
The idea of possessing people through off-brand bacteria is even more ludicrous than how Star Wars normally goes.

He's off-brand Palpatine who got centuries of uninterrupted reign and TWO Empires.

This is for a different kind of ttg, but i want to keep my players engaged a little more and could use some advice. After certain events i had the boss leave, but they were struggling a bit afterwards and it kind of became a slog. To stop something from just becoming, shoot, dice, dodge, shoot dice, etc, what's something i could do it liven it up?
>>
>>98742151
Darth Tenebrous was Plagueis' master, who tried to become immortal by turning his midichlorians into maxi-chlorians but just got his consciousness trapped in a loop at the moment of his death.
Darth Vitiate was the SWOTOR Sith Emperor, whose original name before becoming a Sith lord was Tenebrae.

you could spice it up with environmental effects, time constraints or something as simple as the fight spilling over into another area.

genuine question
why do EUfags act like the way they do? it just seems....envious?
your average EU fan, which i've interacted with here for many years is pretty chill and will talk about and recommend stories

but every once in a while you'll get that kind of fan who just bitches all the fucking time and constnatly goes on about how the EU is "totally better" but never elaborates why, and will never admit that the EU at times had some stinkers

Darksaber was my first Star Wars book. Terrible place to start, it's the sequel to a trilogy. I liked it but it made me sad that Crix Madine got killed.
>>
>>98751075
Eh you meet folk like that in every hobby

But it's probably because they're just pissy that the stuff they like is considered non-canon, since it got shoved to the sidelines for Disney to make their own stuff. Sometimes I can understand why someone would be angry, but not enough to join the fag bandwagon to get pissy with someone the moment they mention anything that isn't EU

It's mentioned that usually when the Padawans hit teenage years fooling around tends to happen. Yoda thinks it is funny to go find wherever the two Padawans are hiding out and thinking they're discreet (always in the same places, the young generation always thinking the previous generation never knew there was a convenient alcove for secret tongue action and they're perfectly situated to have a bang). Then right when they're in the middle of it he will open the closet door or whatever, and shake his head sadly while sniggering in his trickster gnome/troll way.

Basically, it happens, teenagers will be teenagers. They handle it, and ideally grow out of it. Some become uptight like Qui-Gon, others are more chill about it.

It was. Guaranteed Palpatine moved ASAP to erase any remnant of the Old Republic, it just took him twenty years to get it all (when Tarkin notes that the last remnants of the Old Republic are gone in ANH).

There's also that the Venator was not suitable for the kind of warfare the Empire needed it for. Or the kind of warfare the Clone Wars produced, for that matter, because in case you didn't notice, every time they showed up they usually ended a fight on fire and/or exploding. The ISD is created from a design meant to fight and dominate the Clone Wars, against the big Seperatist frigates with their gigantic turbolasers, or the broadsides from things like Malevolence or Invisible Hand. Things that the Venator sucked at.

Anons, I'm running a legacy d20 Saga game, and the players have been given a favour by an Imperial Senator of any modification they want to their ship (an old Consular cruiser), he will handle the price and any licenses and upkeep and all that shit.

I expected some giga-illegal weapons or something, but they chose this:

>Extreme Luxury Upgrade
>A Luxury Upgrade is a shipwide increase in the quality of a Starship's accommodations. Panels of calming colors, stylish trim, and quality artwork cover bulkhead walls and access panels. Bunks and stowage lockers are replaced with comfortable beds and wooden wardrobes. Lounges are upgraded with recliners, desks, and multipurpose game boards. Music systems are installed throughout the ship, and food preparation areas are adapted to allow gourmet cooking and fresh food storage.
>A Basic Luxury Upgrade changes a Starship from a harsh travel vessel to a comfortable home on the move. An Advanced Luxury Upgrade goes a step farther, making the ship the equivalent of an upper-scale hotel. An Extreme Luxury Upgrade turns a Starship into a palace in space, fit for emperors and lords of industry.

Admittedly this will cost a fucking fortune, all 2.5 MILLION credits. But I'm at a loss of how to describe what the ship will look like inside when it's done, I've never been great at it. A basic one okay, an upper scale hotel I've stayed in a few so I'd have stuff to draw on. But what the fuck does the interior look like for a ship "an emperor/lord of industry" flies around in?

>Everything is exactly where you need it to be at all times
>You have several droids dedicated to the comfort of the crew who are fitted out with plating that matches the interior of the ship, making them seamlessly fit into the background, they handle everything from maintenance to supplies
>The engine has been overtuned to the point where it purrs like a kitten, jumping into hyperspace feels like pulling away from the curb in a car rather than taking off in a plane.
>The fridge is always full, and it contains your favourite beers. You don't even know how this happens. No one does.
>One of the rooms has been refitted with holodisplays on which you can project classical art pieces (All Pro-Imperial of course) or your own adventures, they can also be merged to use the room as a surround-view cinema experience
>It comes with complimentary Twi'lek dancers for the entire crew, and they're incredibly, excessively enthusiastic about their new jobs
>There's a life sized statue of the Emperor standing atop the body of a dead Jedi in the cargo bay, It can do fake lightning and its eyes glow, it has 100 randomized phrases. It keeps turning up in odd places and you're slightly afraid to ask if it's the droids moving it or not
>The Feng Shui is perfect (Don't even explain what you mean by this one, just shrug and repeat it if they ask for further details)
>Since it's an Imperial doing it. 'Everything has a subtle, but tasteful, gold, red and black colour scheme, not overbearing, but cohesive, it really ties the place together'
>Whenever you open the comms there's a little badge in the corner of your display that reads 'Imperial Vessel Class 7', any Imperial officer that sees it who isn't a Moff immediately becomes a bit nervous and very polite, you get moved to the front of landing lists, ect
Or just play this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n_Ae9DGC0U at the table then tell them "Your ship? Way nicer than that" and don't elaborate further.

After rewatching the OT in preparation for my upcoming campaign, I realised that Vader is a dickhead. He's menacing, he's hard to read due to the mask and cloak, but he's unapologetically a dick. I think that this often gets overlooked or sidelined in favour of portraying him as wholly serious, inscrutable or quiet.
From "Apologies accepted" to just telling Lando "I've altered the deal" directly, he obviously has a somewhat snide or just nonchalant sort of evil to him, which is really entertaining. The only time Disney remembered this part is in Rogue One when Vader gives Krennic an incredibly sarcastic "My apologies for distracting you" when Orson get uppity and then doing the whole "Be careful not to choke on your aspirations" bit.

It’s not an unpopular opinion, it’s just an old person one. If you weren’t a kid (physically or mentally) when CW was on TV, it isn’t important to you. I have watched very little of the series, what little I watched was low quality and not compelling, and it sits in my personal impression of StarWars canon somewhere in the vicinity of the bad EU books and comics of my own childhood.

I know that Disney Lucasarts consider it to be more important than that, but most Star Wars fans over 35 don’t.

Just buy enough for your friend group to play, or have them pitch in and have a group pool of ships.

I knew my friends would never buy into the game so I bought enough ships that they could play pretty much anything they want when we play. Plus it's a game I really enjoy, I'm not gonna stop playing just because there isn't official support any more, and when my kid gets old enough I'll play with him too.

Never understood the mentality of "oh the game isn't being official supported any more, guess I'll never play it ever again and just get rid of my collection". Same happened with warhammer fantasy, I kept playing for years after it became the shit that is Age of Smegmar. Hell, fantasy even came back again, though I don't hold high hopes of that for X-Wing, you never know it could come back too.

I'd go for three, myself, to help me on my spaceship. You want an Arkanian Offshoot, because that covers the requisite space elf side and they're great pilots and operators. Then you need a Zeltron, because sex goddess and adjutant. And lastly you want a blue Twi'lek, so she can be your engineer when she isn't dancing for you.

It's also a patriotic colour scheme. I may have thought extensively about this subject.
>>
>>98782949
Speaking of Twi'lek colours, I find it odd that two of them have a specific name associated with them but the rest don't. Blue ones are called Rutians and red ones Lethans, but the green/yellow/purple/pink ones don't have a name.
Also, a random tidbit: while the other Twi'lek colors are supposed to be equivalent to human phenotypes (races), indicating ancestry from a population native to specific area of Ryloth, Lethan Twi'lek are actually a recessive genetic mutation (presumably Twi'lek equivalent of erythricism, or increase increase in production of red pigment).
>>
>>98783042
>Lethan Twi'lek are actually a recessive genetic mutation (presumably Twi'lek equivalent of erythricism, or increase increase in production of red pigment).
Being realistic about it?
Centuries, possibly millennia, of the Sith Lords taking Twi'lek pleasure slaves has probably hammered so hard into the Twi'lek genepool that it's left a dick shaped imprint on their species.
Which is where the recessive red skin gene comes from most likely.

That would explain why, despite making up only 0,0001% of Twi'lek population, red-skinned Twi'lek make up around 80 % of all Twi'lek Sith.
>>
Since Twi'lek come in a variety of colors and lekku patterns, I imagine there's probably a market for breeding rare pattern and color combinations. You can probably get a lot more for a standard, common color patternless Twi'lek off the Nar Shaddaa slave market if she's proven to be het-Lethan or for some rare pattern.

There's probably some Hutt posting holonet videos about Twi'lek care and breeding, and telling his viewers that responsible Twi'lek owners only buy captive-bred Twi'lek from responsible breeders (such as himself; link to his holonet store in the description). Wild-caught Twi'lek aren't properly socialized and are likely to have all sorts of injuries or diseases that result in lower life-expectancy and value.

The Empire needed stuff that was good at counterinsurgency operations and dealing with fighters and the small ships that were pretty much all the rebels used prior to Endor. Something like a Venator would probably be better at that than an ISD.

I think it's funny on a meta level that the average EU slopper thinks that the Rebellion could have been totally defeated if they just made more star destroyers and TIE defenders.
>>

What would it take to defeat the rebellion is the real question?

>>
>>98784420
The Empire's inherent pphilosophy drove people to the Rebellion. Tarkin Doctrine, although nowhere near as retarded as how it became under Disney's mongoloid writers, wasn't actually a successful philosophy in the long run.
Regardless, the Rebels won because of Luke and Co. The other anon is dumb by assuming the Rebels had a chance without the heroes. Star Wars, unlike troons seem to think, isn't a story about "the small guys fighting the big guys and winning". It's about a hero who saves the galaxy, the best non-Force user pilot in the galaxy, a princess with extreme talent in leading armies, a giant beast, two smart droids who save the crew. It's like a fairy tale.

what's the point of building a doomsday destroyer of worlds weapon intended to keep everyone in check due to fear of it when you do not announce that you have such a weapon beforehand and you leave no witnesses to tell the tale when you decide to test it on a seemingly random planet on a vague unconfirmed assumption that it might be tied to the rebels?

>>
>>98783877
Why? 72/76 snubs are more than enough for most operations an ISD would be going against, and a ISD is a lot more intimidating and capable on it's own than a venator is. The empire simply did not need massive carriers.
>>
>>98785231
>testing a nuke on an inhabited area
one could imagine that testing it on something completely useless and then announcing you have it might be much more useful to, let's say, enforce a change of government on the planet to a one more to your liking instead of just blasting a literal planet worth of industrial capacity into nothingness

All of the Empire’s onscreen victories are spearheaded by their named heroes too. Darth Vader, General Veers. That’s just the nature of being a story. Rebels have more moments of little guys making that crucial difference, like the mad lad A wing pilot who destroyed the super Star destroyer.
>>
>>98783877
It didn't need that much stuff for counterinsurgency until the Rebellion really got going around Yavin (and that was a fleet action at Scarif too, albeit Legends was not fleet action). It needed a means of transporting what amounted to a mobile military base; something that can go through hyperspace, carry enough starfighters to scare off pirates, while also packing mobile command outposts, landing craft, and all the other necessary nonsense, including the ability to maintain it all. And alongside all that, it had to be designed well enough to overwhelmingly handle any enemy capital ship it came across.

A Star Destroyer is a hyperspace-capable military base, with all the accompanying benefits to logistics and force projection. It's like if Fort Worth or Naval Base San Diego (34000 people, an ISD is 37000) were a starship that could move and deploy itself anywhere in the galaxy. An ISD could carry the entire headquarters of USSOCOM (2500 people, according to Wikipedia) plus whoever they needed from SOCOM to counterinsurgency a decent chunk of any planet that's putting on airs AND slug it out with any shitty Clone Wars era ships the planet has AND carry a fighter wing capable of doing starfighter things.
>>
>>98788308
I think the ISD is a good example of the Tarkin Doctrine in action. It allows the Empire to deploy overwhelming force to any given location on demand. In theory the Empire only needs to maintain a token garrison on a planet because the knowledge that they can call for one or more ISDs to deploy legions of stormtroopers or bombard cities from orbit is enough to dissuade the locals from attempting to rebel. It also means the Empire doesn't need to spend nearly as many troops garrisoning every planet, as the mere possibility that an ISD might show up will keep the population in line, even in in reality it's unlikely for the Empire to deploy on one somewhere like Tatooine under normal circumstances (as big part of the Tarkin Doctrine as originally described was to give the appearance of invincibility and overwhelming force even when that wasn't actually the case: the Empire wouldn't have enough ISDs or stormtroopers to simultaneously occupy every world in the galaxy, but the fear of such occupation would keep planets from rebelling).
>>
>>98788407
>Tarkin Doctrine
While as presented the Tarkin Doctrine is one of those big flaws of the empire type deals, there is a version of it somewhere that works.
That being the 'Little secret police officer who lives rent free in your head' variant used by the USSR.
When you make people police themselves you have to spend far less effort and time actually policing them.

I wish SWTOR character editor had given female purebloods more option with facial tendrils like the males have. As it is, most of the options just make them nearly indistinguishable from humans aside from the red skin, and we already have Zeltrons for that.
Still, my female pureblood inquisitor is probably my favorite character. Both because she looks cool but also because it was funny to play the class campaign taking every dark side option possible and just being the most insufferable asshole possible (which is pretty much the opposite of how I normally play RPGs. Even my other Imperial characters ended up being more Lawful Evil instead of Chaotic Asshat).
I also intentionally made the character's appearance the complete opposite of my first character, a male Jedi knight with the most muscular gigachad look I could get. What I didn't really notice at the time that the most slightly built female body type also makes your character a head shorter than most NPCs, so in every cutscene the character just gave off big "who is this sassy lost child" energy, and made most of her interactions seem faintly comical, as it's kind of hard to take a Dark Lord of the Sith who looks like she weights 80 pounds soaking wet and has to stand on her tippy-toes to look you in the eyes very seriously. At least until she brings out the force lightning.

Hutts are woefully misrepresented in Star Wars. They're stereotyped as criminals, but the reality is vastly different, nigh Hutt in proportion we can say. While their commercial activities are demonstrably at odds with Galactic Republic standards of legitimacy, none of their cultural imperatives or traits are in defiance of their own civilization's laws or mores. Within Hutt parameters their activities are not criminal but rather wholly legal and the pursuit of them is frequently laudable. Dismissing this as merely characteristic of criminality's rejection of social strictures is poor reasoning because, unlike examples of organized crime in Earth's past and present, the Hutts' ways predate the introduction of Republican laws criminalizing their deeds.

I posit that it is far more reasonable to see the Hutts as a parallel civilization of unadulterated capitalism existing within a racial and tribal hierarchy whose social order prioritizes dominance over other species. These species fulfill the function of servitude for a system which is built upon a precept not of the individual as a citizen but rather upon tribes and clans as the quantum unit of society. Insofar as the individual of subject species does exist for Hutts, it is not as a person entered into a social contract whose purpose is mutual or reciprocal. No, the individual in Hutt sociology is a unit of labor, bricks in a pyramid which exists to facilitate ascension of the Hutt species. We might not approve their civilization but we ought to appreciate it as a civilization, not dismiss it as a lawless underworld. Actually, in Hutt Space, "crime" is the lawful overworld.
>>
>>98794179
>a species that believes completely in their own Brahminhood
In fairness, for twenty five thousand years they have been winning. They do basically nothing, and still win. Clone war? Hutts are happy to make a deal. Imperial "conquest" of Hutt space, parenthesis intended? Hutts just bribed them to fuck off. Galactic Civil War? Sit on the sidelines, come out ahead. And when the First Order rises, kills the New Republic, and then falls and leaves the galaxy an utter mess of shit? Hutts are the only power left standing.

Past a certain point, they kind of ARE the peak winners. Meanwhile, in Legends the greatest period of peace and stability the Republic ever knew was when a Hutt was the Supreme Chancellor. And was the best Supreme Chancellor it ever had.

Why do people act like the ISD is this base settler different from any other ship? Venators had a nigh-identical role during the Clone Wars, so did Acclamator IIs, Victories, etc. Any differences in numbers are merely discrepancies between the Saxton method and the D6 method.
The ISD isn't any different other than it being larger and more properly a generalist vessel compared to a battle carried pressed onto capital ship fighter because there wasn't a better ship to use. Tarkin Doctrine doesn't even mean that, have people read the Imperial Communique in D6 that created the idea? Tarkin Doctrine is about the creation of oversectors and Grand Moffs and the Death Star all in a way to create a layered deterrence plan and then using the media to create propaganda to exaggerate further the existing efficiency of operations, it has nothing to do with invading planets or ship sizes (it does mention the usage of symbols of fear, but ship sizes are usually by nature as a result of requirements. Furthermore, there is more to the Death Star than this, with all the stuff from the CWMMP era detailing how it came to be).
>>
>>98794393
The communique mentions rule through fear of force rather than force itself, and Star Destroyers' size by itself making at effective tool of intimidation. So the using the threat of a bunch of ISDs showing up and launching a military occupation of a world to keep people in line would fit the "rule through fear" part of the doctrine.
The other part of the doctrine is administrative and isn't directly related to the more famous "fear will keep the outer systems in line" part. It would just reduce bureaucracy in moving fleets from one sector to another to chase rebels if those sectors fall under the same oversector.

Interestingly, Tarkin's proposal for creation of oversectors never seems to have been implemented in the way he proposed here, as he states oversectors should be specifically formed out of "problem systems" (i.e. ones with significant rebel activity or support), but other sources present all sectors being grouped into oversectors (i.e. oversectors being to sectors as states are to counties).

>>
>>98796839
What specifically are you trying to make for the campaign? What do you want the players doing?
>>
>>98796845
It probably won't pan out to a full campaign, but I'm thinking of a bunch of fresh faced Luke-adjacent youths who want to see the stars and have adventures, but they need to get off their shitty world first. Ideally I'd like the opposition to be non-Imperial so that the PCs don't get 401st'ed at the first blaster fight, and that a late game encounter with stormtroopers can feel like Real Stuff TM.
I'm thinking the adventure structure is basically going to be a road trip (literal or metaphorical) with stops to right local wrongs and get into scrapes with a tramp freighter at the end of the road, or possibly getting rescued by rebel reinforcements if things go completely tits-up.

Acclamators, Venators, and (to a lesser extent) victories are generally deployed as fleets.
I think the understanding anons have of the ISD is that it is a vessel capable of independently operating in this capacity.
instead of moving around fleets of acclamators between worlds you can have a single ISD show up to remind people who is in charge.
>>
>>98799928
Literally any ship can operate independently and in fleets. ISDs are often in fleets too, we see them in a fleet in ESB.
People need to understand the ISD isn't this revolutionary new concept, it's just an evolution of the Venator/Victory into a more generalist direction. That's it. There is really not much of a difference between it and other ships in purpose.
>>
>>98799972
The ISD is importantly a ship without any real peer threats. Its significantly larger and stronger than a venator or acclamator while still maintaining the role of a carrier, holding an entire division of assault troops, and being perfectly capable of intercepting even fast blockade running ships.
My point is that the ISD has little to fear beyond actual organized/prepared resistance and fleets. Doctrinally a fleet of ISDs is better suited for the occupation of space as it can be spread thinner over a sector, whereas this sort of hostile occupation strategy the Empire uses would likely require much larger groups of smaller squishier republic era ships to subjigate the same territory.
>>
>>98800044
It isn't that much larger than a Venator but yes it is larger, and the Venator can also do most of those although I agree less than the ISD in some ways (for example, the Venator is better as a carrier because of the many different hangar bays)
That being said, hostile occupation could easily be done with Venators or Acclamators. The Republic was doing it during the Clone Wars. Hell, if you follow what Lucas implies rather than EU lore, the ISD would be designed years after the end of the CW so the Empire was operating with them (even after the ISD, to be fair). And actually even in the EU the ISD took a while to really reach the prominence of the VSD and the like.
The only difference is the Empire didn't have much of an enemy to fight. ISDs did well in the Reconquest of the Rim but a lot were destroyed in the same way Venators were. Simply the fact of having to fight a competent naval force rather than dealing with space piracy.

I've been thinking about this today. Considering Wizards/Hasbro already had D20/Saga editions, and Edge Studios is in no position to expand the EotE/AoR/FaD line, it makes some sense for the Mouse to license the IP for a 5e port.
But what if there is more to it? For reasons that thoroughly baffle me, people choose to play that abysmal SW5e fan hack, and I'll bet it is currently more popular than any of the canon D&D settings. So if an official ruleset and adventure were released, then Hasbro might be able to lure more people over to their content distribution pipeline.
Weirdly enough, I think Wizards might genuinely produce a better version of SW5e. I'm always prepared for them to disappoint, of course.

These choices are understandable, for a cover like that you'll want:
>typical RPG party
So the Rebel Alliance or assorted underworld types are the best choice for a D&D party of snowflakes with varied classes and species/races. Anons here may enjoy the idea of a full party of Clones or Stormies but you kinda need more variety on a cover.
Though I'll admit a cover with an Imperial Agent/Officer as the Facen Stormtrooper as the Fighter, a Scout Trooper as the Rogue and a Probe or Interrogation Droid could work as a supplement cover.

Mando's blaster seems to me to be about the same level of modification as Han's blaster in the OT. In both cases the gin it's based on is distinctive enough that it's instantly recognizable to gun nuts, but for the same reason looks different from a "standard" pistol for people unfamiliar with guns
>>
>>98819415
>Lazy shit like that AK in Andor
Annoyingly, that thing was like two mods away from perfect.
Literally:
* Make mag more clearly not a mag, little plexiglass window with fluid or a red LED or gas-tank shaped or something
* One extra under or overbarrel greeble OR DL44 scope
* (optional) rag heatshield wrap
Boom done. Star Wars already uses fuddlore gun language (evil stormies use MP40/FG42 infantry doctrine, heroic rebels use pistols cos underdogs or long rifles like muh GI or stole MP40 like partisans, Mando and Han have Big Iron on their hip, Jedi Katana can cut through MG barrels, BVR proton torpedoes are no match for my ability to fly up and to the left suddenly) and the Based Innawoods AK is a fine visual metaphor to base a blaster on.
>>
>>98820604
Yeah. Just do those, and I'd also suggest to remove the way-too-obviously-AK wood color handguard with a black/grey greebled-up one.

The biggest problem with >>98825056 is that it is a victim of the piss filter. The middle gen in particular is just a bit of chrome or bare aluminum, some grey hammer tone paint, a lick of wood polish, and a brass fitting or two on that pipe from fitting right in with the EE-3 or the A-280 as a prime Empire Strikes Back era blaster.
>>
>>98838108
See, I think that goes a bit too far the other way. It's overdesigned for a Star Wars gun.
Look at how small the adjustments are on >>98817922.
For the most part Star Wars guns are almost 'Alt-History' levels of minor adjustments, at least when dealing with mainline culture weapons/rebel weapons.
Prequel era gets a bit more quirky of course. But Original Trilogy era kind of has that used future vibe built into it and is a bit grungy.

HE is not completely wrong, TPM wasa hjuge letdown for millions of people who expected more SW like the EU books, i.e. more grounded, more 'Wars' and less whimsical.

And TPM does have a huge problem with the Gungans. That is like 40 minutes of screentime wasted on irrelevant bullshit and CGI, and a stupid set-piece that basically turns the droid army into hopeless comedic relief.
>>
File: PracticalEffects.jpg (3.75 MB, 3002x6000)
3.75 MB JPG
>>98857373
Kek it's the opposite
People wanted the Prequels to be LESS grounded. The Eu was known pre-PT for being a wacky wasteland of retarded ideas. Remember the old Marvel comics with Jaxxon? Rember the post-Endor period bullshit with the dark greetings and Trioculus and all these random fantasy characters? Remember the entirety of Dark Empire?
George went far more realistic for the Prequels, he made them a mix of political thriller and operatic tragedy a la Othello, which pissed off the dedicated fanbase who had fooled themselves into believing Star Wars was something it never was, generic sci-fi slop
RLM even admitted they wish the Prequels were like Back to the Future or Gremlins, and no it isn't because of Back to the Future's deeper themes let's be honest here
Also the CGI is bullshit (the Prequels and especially TPM are extremely practical) and the Gungans are minor characters, Battle of Naboo has far more scenes with Padme in the castle and Anakin in space than Jar Jar in the plains. That isn't people's actual problem though it's a nice cope
>>
>>98857382
NAYRT but I was actually there at the time and your shit's all fucked up. Absolutely nobody wanted a wackier TPM (though I could understand the criticism that kids couldnt follow some of it). There are a lot of jarring effects shots, the structure of the film does waste time, and I have no idea what the "actual problem" is if not the above.
>>
File: zq1ge2zjjdx61.jpg (19 KB, 512x373)
19 KB JPG
>>98857400
Retard I was also there when TPM came out. The main criticism that wasn't "CGI" (which was irrelevant cope, there aren't actually that many effects shots and usually that's bullshit like when Chris Stuckmann claimed the podrace was "too static" even though it was mirroring the chariot race from Ben Hur kek), it wasn't even Jar Jar, it was always "the politics are too serious and hard! Star Wars shouldn't be about politics! Who cares about taxation and blockades, we want Luke and Han!"
People constantly complained that TPM was too serious beyond kid Anakin and Jar Jar, that nobody wanted to deal with how Palpatine became chancellor or corruption in the govt, in fact most fan "rewrites" (which all miss the point of the films lmao) consistently REMOVE the politics and replace them with wacky gimmicks, IE giving Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme a fucking romantic triangle or adding more Sith or connections to the OT or something
Like I said, RLM who are the face of the anti-Prequel movement said themselves the Prequels were too dark and grim and complex (one of the points in their video, as dumb as it is, is that "the characters cannot be described in a single sentence") and that they should have been like Back to the Future or Gremlins, fun wacky '80s flicks with some gimmicks and a basic story and that's it (I personally think BttF is deeper than that but it's clear RLM have no real understanding of what the film is trying to say or do beyond the superficial time travel aspect)
>>
>>98857382
>Remember the old Marvel comics with Jaxxon? Rember the post-Endor period bullshit with the dark greetings and Trioculus and all these random fantasy characters? Remember the entirety of Dark Empire?
You know who doesn't remember those? Moviegoers. If George had tried to put any of that shit on screen (which would never have happened anyway since none of those things were his ideas so he didn't care about them) it would've flopped harder than Attack of the Clones.
>>
>>98857416
>the characters cannot be described in a single sentence
I always despised that shit. A main character shouldn't be able to be described in a single sentence without compounding a lot of who or what they are in the process.
Shit, I've had RPG characters you'd have serious trouble describing in one sentence.
Having been there as well, I was lucky enough to never listen to RLM or the other shit critiques, back then or now and only encountered 'Wait, people hated the prequels?' later through cultural osmosis.
>>

My dude, the problem is 30 minutes of utterly pointless and unrelated shit with gungans.
The cavern dive scene is fine, the podrace is fine, what is not fine is wasting time with oh-so-quirky floppy ear niggerspeaking fishpeople.
They serve no real purpose, their story is not relevant, they just waste screentime.
>>
>>98857373
>And TPM does have a huge problem with the Gungans
Gungans make sense, representing the indigenous people of Naboo and the double standards there, also their value to the Sith and Trade Federation. They give Amidala a striking moment of character growth, as she has to humble herself to access their power.
>>
>>98857644
It's good to remember that Lucas took classes on anthropology.
>>
>>98857600
>My dude, the problem is 30 minutes of utterly pointless and unrelated shit with gungans.
Actually they do. They're the native species of the world who have been isolated from humanity and pushed back into the swamps by them.
One of the ongoing themes of Star Wars is finding a way to live with others and the unification of the Gungans with the people of Naboo is there to contrast with the Trade Federation, who try to do everything by force, or the Sith, who care only for their own self-interests and would never even consider working alongside someone.

It's only by tapping into the Force of Others, by relying on and working with them, that Amidala can save her world.

Just because you didn't pick up on it doesn't mean it didn't have a point.
>>
>>98857494
Yeah and moviegoers liked the Prequels. They sold extremely well, dominated toy markets, to this day they're extremely beloved by casuals.
It was autist niggers who hated them because they wanted either the OT again or that kind of EUslop. I guess they got their wish with TCW, that ain't much different from average pre-PT EU media.
>>98857587
WEG WAS random bullshit. People overestimate the good shit it created. For every cool thing like Tarkin Doctrine it had a trillion random wacky planet quest shenanigans with shit that wasn't Star Wars.
Thrawn Trilogy is more of the OT. It really isn't as grounded as people like to claim.
The Multimedia Project IS post-PT. It was the Prequels that led to Star Wars having darker media, starting with the Republic comics. You got the good dark shit like Shatterpoint and Dark Redezvous and the dark grimslop like NJO and everything after that but it was the PT that led to people treating SW more seriously. Before that, it was just 90% shit like Luke falling in love with a spirit inside a computer.
>>98857600
The Gungans don't even get a collective ten minutes you dope
You spend like three or four on Otoh Gunga and then another three on the Battle of Naboo since the film spends FAR more time focusing on Padme, Anakin and Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon vs Maul
Even then they do have a purpose, to show the separated and distrusting species come together to fight back against a bigger foe which is setup for both the formation of the Empire and the Rebellion

Except none of that happens in the movie. It all got 'interpreted' into those scenes.
There are maybe three lines of dialogue where Amidala goes 'oh yeah sorry about that whole taking over your planet. Now go die for (((our))) planet lol'
And then the represed, ostracized, living-in-a-swamp Gungarinos pull out their heckin wholesome shields and spears and power up the invicible shield generators and blue goo catapults.
At best this is blatantly racist, but not in a funny way.

All the 'butbutbut they add this and that and look at Jarjar become a le ebin 4D Sith lord!' bullshit was stitched on in the years after the movie when they realized how useless and universally loathed these timewasters were.

You realize this as soon as you just skip all the gungan city scenes, the movie works fine. You can skip the entire ground battle with teh gungangs, too. They add nothing to the movie.
The screentime should have been used to show more of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, more of Amidala and her Handmaidens, and ideally tehy should have also cast an older Anakin and given us some more exposition on Tatooine.

Oh well, water under the bridge. Today we have to wonder if there will be more Star Wars after Starfighter.

Not a monkey's paw cause they got what they wanted
TCW redid the OT again and they ate it up despite it being a retarded kiddie show that shat on everything the Prequels did (actually probably liked it more because of that)
RLM actually ASKED Lucasfilm for JJ Abrams to direct the next Star Wars during one of their Star Trek reviews and loved TFA and TLJ, they had to switch tones and create a half-baked meme video for Rogue One (the infamous "THEY BROKE NEW GROUND" one) because they got tons of criticism on how they were sucking Disney's dick and were falling behind on the far more popular Mauler-style reviews pointing out how shit the films were

I suppose the inhibitor chip is like that.

Looking for some advice on ships. Having my party meet a rich asshole who overspends on everything, but instead of the tasteless gold plated crystal ballroom stuff he's just a moron who doesn't understand utility. He'll always buy the high performance, overengineered, moronic version of something, sort of like buying an F1 car to go grocery shopping. Sure, it's fast, but the station wagon gets you to the store and it doesn't get 7mpg.

Think like those idiots who bought the Juicero. I need starship equivalents to the Juicero. Doesn't have to be an exact one, just some examples I can crib names and manufacturers for him to namedrop while he's extoling to the party about how wealthy he is.

Do any of the characters know anything about ships? If so have him drop in that he owns a Kuat Maridian-T, then have them roll and regardless of what they get tell them the Juicero comparison outright.
Sometimes just making shit up and going OOC 'This guy is a rube' works perfectly fine.

TCW had no politics retard, at most you had the gay "neutral corpos" which was more an excuse to have dumb hijinks
Jar Jar is only present in a couple episodes in the first two seasons when the show was trying out stuff, Lucas wanted to see if Jar Jar could be salvaged, he couldn't so after S2 he's practically non existent
Instead TCW became more OT/early EU with the characters being changed completely, random adventures and aliens and plotlines that don't matter, Ahsoka, the clones being normal people, the chips, Dooku and Grievous being beaten every day, etc

Anon, no anti-Prequel retard thinks the Sequels suck. Jay and his team were sucking Disney's cock until they had to slightly separate themselves. To this day, they literally defend the Ack-olyte iirc.

Are you talking about the 2D or the 3D one? Or the movie?

It makes sense, since the dark side is not supposed to be some kind of anti-Force that exists separately from the Force, but what happens when you start twisting the Force to serve your own selfish desires, instead of using the Force in accordance with the will of the Force.
>>

>will of the Force.
Man I hate that phrase.
It absolutely fucks the idea that the Force is found in all living things and is effectively a sort of living motion of harmony through the galaxy, if the Force has a will of its own separate to those things.

What do you think advancement is towards? When people become more compassionate and kind, what is it towards?

If you just remember the innocent eyes of a child you could see Star Wars again.

>When people become more compassionate and kind, what is it towards?
Service to others at the cost of the self isn't compassionate or kind.
You do not make the world a better place by setting yourself on fire so that others can be comforted by the glow and cruelty to the self is still a cruelty to a living being.

We're not recreating Ormelas from first principles.

You can consider the will of the Force to be the system's natural tendency towards maintaining that harmony.

I went to 2 Legion Tourneys over the past 2 weekends and had a great time. A small local event and a GT.
Overall it was an amazing experience. I thought GT were something daunting but the atmosphere was really welcoming and relaxed overall.
My list did well at the local event, I even won the whole thing.
The GT did not go as well as I went 3-3, but that's still pretty good.

I can smell the stink of Randian bullshit off you from here.
>>
>>98862163
Well if you truly believe the bullshit you preach you'll bend over and let me fuck you in the ass raw, right here and now.
After all, if you've got no ego and are in perfect control of your emotions to the point where the will of others is more important than your own, my desire to absolutely Alderaan that bussy shouldn't be a problem.
Right?
So bend over and grip your ankles, Jedi.
