>assemble 60 turnip28 mooks>look into area to see if there's any local turnip28 scene.>the closest scene appears to be in FUCKING PENNSYLVANIA I AM IN THE DEEP SOUTH 12 HOURS AWAYSHIT.
isnt it a skirmish game? wtf do you need 60 dudes for? split your army up and invite someone to play with you using the other part
>>98749620Who do I invite over? My friends don't play wargames
>>98749620>skirmish game All a matter of perspective I suppose. It uses blocks of infantry roughly like earlier whfb size conflict. 60 seems sparse but don't know what they built and they didn't post it so hard to say. >>98749700Its a small hobby, you're likely going to have to be the instigator even with other wargamers. Having a demo game of 2 armies is more or less normal for having to build enthusiasm and a scene.
>>98749823Okay let me run this hypothetical>build 2 armies and terrain >go to local gamestore to promote this game in my local gamestore and TAKE INITIATIVE! (tm)>best case scenario: get looked at like a weirdo while people talk behind my back about how I'm trying to promote some indie wargame nobody wants to play, nothing happens, time and effort wasted>worst case scenario: get kicked out by the owner for promoting an item the LGS cannot actually sell and/or scaring the 40k/MtGfags with the weird root vegetable napoleonic. Time and effort wasted, also a pariah within local community nowyeah anon great idea. I'm sure being a wargaming ambassador (tm) will go swimmingly and not end in total embarrassment here in LGS hell!
>>98749907suicide is still an option anon
>>98749907you are a pussy
>>98749907There's a solution to this. Make a funny cosplay turnip outfit, then call the LGS ahead of time and say nothing except "Hey, I want to run demo games of this game online at your store, I'll pay for the table space if need be, what day works best for you guys?" so they have advance notice of what you intend to do. Do not mention the silly cosplay. Then walk in with the silly cosplay on, I don't care how uncomfortable it is, you drive your ass there wearing it, then set up your demo table. You WILL attract attention and at least one person WILL take interest.
>>98749907>Find your local stores' discord, fb group, or whatever other online platform the owner is using>Write a post where you show off your turnip figures. Show the wip shots if you have them >Mention that you bought the models and paint in the LGS. "I made these from a box of knights I found at $store way back in June" >Noncommittal "this was already a fun hobby project, but it'd be fun to try the game too"I feel like it's not that grim. Worst case scenario I think you'd just get ignored. Unless the LGS owner is an absolute asshole theres no fucking way he gets mad at you.
>>98750002>Mention that you bought the models and paint in the LGS. "I made these from a box of knights I found at $store way back in June"I didn't fuckin do that though, I just ordered Perry miniatures online. My LGS doesn't sell them.
ive seen people show up at my lgs and play rummy and monopoly etc, what kind of gay ass store do you go to? or is this all in your head because you dont even own miniatures and youve never been to an lgs before
>>98750036NTA but game stores scare me and I feel a strong urge to punch the cashier every time I go there to buy paints. I practically sprint out
>>98749421>assemble 60 turnip28 mooks>still somehow can't make two intro forces and get someone to try out the gameI realize charisma is your RL dump stat anon, but don't lose hope.
well, build a second army and use an oracle to generate their actions and play against yourself i guess. turnip is just an excuse to kitbash miniatures anyway
>>98749907>best caseBeen there, done that, got a few gaming buddies off that (if not for the exact system I shilled)>worst caseThat's why you shill it 1. somewhere that sells historicals since they're t28 conversion material anyway, 2. some place that rents tables. Sure it'll cost you some $$, but you buy peace of mind and no "plz buy are shit" hassle.
>>98750092>be me>game store cashier in MiddleOfNowhere, Nebraska, doesn't pay enough for me to deal with the smelly weirdos who walk in>one guy, like many guys, just walks in and buys paint once in a blue moon. Only vaguely recognize him because he practically fucking sprints out every time he buys paint>whatever.jpg>one day he walks in and buys paint, same routine>"that'll be $10, sir" I say>he keeps staring at me, there's a look in his eye, a retarded look>suddenly, without speaking he jabs my nose from across the counter>WHAT THE FUCK i scream as I hold my nose>"sorry sir, it was muh social anxiety! This place scares me!" says the autistic retard as he quickly slams $10 on the counter and sprints out of the store
>>98750152Damn anon, nearly gave me an asthma attack with how hard you made me laugh.
>>98750121>somewhere that sells historicals since they're t28 conversion material anywayThey only sell ww2 historicals here, not napoleonic. I'm fucked
>>98749421there's nerds whereever people are, you just have to do some digging
>>98749421I don't know what you were expecting, the game is essentially fake, people don't actually play it, posting pictures of it is juts a social media trend.
>>98750331What the hell are you talking about?
>>98749700>Ask them to give it a shot>Look for wargaming/RPG events in your local community centres, libraries, nerd shops etc. (hell, even some bars organise those in my town) and make some /tg/ friends there>Look for players willing to give it a shot on your local nerdy social media groupsWhere there's a will there's a way. Usually.
>>98750331/thread
>>98750467>Look for wargaming/RPG events in your local community centres, libraries, nerd shops etc. (hell, even some bars organise those in my town) and make some /tg/ friends thereOh, sure, let me just walk into libraries and bars, approach random people and ask if they play traditional games and are interested in turnip28! Sure! Great idea! I'm sure that will work!
>>98753618post models
>>98753618What part of "events" don't you understand OP? Unless you live in some complete bumfuck nowhere there are bound to be some organised cyclical events where people just hang out and play games. I'm not sayng you should approach random people, I'm saying you should meet people who are into wargaming from your area and after you've gotten to know them and maybe played some board game with them or something offer them to give your game a shot. You know, make some nerdy friends you sperg, do you think that group in Pensylwania just magically appeared out of thin air? But you would clearly rather just bitch online, so whatever.
>>98749907God you're dumb. >talk with the lgs owner first you fucking idiot >promote on the store's social media>bring someone already able to be interested in playing a game, get one so they can see it in play>its a hobby project game making terrain isn't an imposition or a chore, its a fun thing to do if you don't like this it was never for you in the first place
>>98756342NTA but>bring someone already able to be interested in playing a game, get one so they can see it in playIsn't OP complaining that they don't think they can get a single person interested? I thought the goal of the "go to a game store and set up demo games" WAS to get at least one person interested, not that one person was already interested and they don't know how to find more.
>>98756419Man if you can't talk to one human about your hobbies in a way that gets them at least a bit interested in hanging out, drinking a beer and playing a game its not a good sign already. You can sit around waiting to run the demo but that's not going to work, so yes they have to put in effort to get one human. Try playing board games with your friends for a bit, see if anyone likes it enough to do a war game. This is not complicated, just takes time and effort and OP is clearly lazy and stupid. No indie darling game is ever going to be >just go to the game store at random and get pick up games
>>98756475>Try playing board games with your friends for a bit, see if anyone likes it enough to do a war game.Friends? You can make friends after school? As an adult? What friends? Teach me
If i owned a flgs i wouldnt let this wierd internet troon-infused freakshow be played in my store desu
>>98749933Seething
turnipniggers btfo once again
>>98749421It's a convention game, you play it at conventions.
>>98766405>build army...to play at a convention once a year that costs thousands to fly out to!!!retarded if true.
>>98766943Stay poor
>>98749700literally just go to your FLGs, put up a flyer saying "hey, i want to play turnip28, i have an army you can verse me with pls respond to XXX@whatever.com or turn up here at this time on friday"its what we used to do for things like epic and other niche games back in the early 2000s
>>98749421Why wouldn't you check for a local scene before you put money, and presumably time, preparing a bunch of models?
>>98750006I have a solution, it is called lying and denying.
>>98750152>He wasn't prepared to counter the surprise autist suckerpunchSluggish.Unfocused.Domesticated.No wonder your employer pays you poorly. To master the wiles of the wayward autist you must discipline yourself.Where is your keen vigilance?Where is your sharpness of spirit?Where is your instinctual dynamism? For shame junior, for shame.
>>98753618Yes.Do that.Unironically.Go outside.Talk with random people.Make a fool of yourself.Keep trying.Your social grace improves.Convince some people to get a game together.Maybe even genuinely befriend a few in the process. It really works. There is no trick here.Just try it.
I dropped Turnip28 when I found out that Max is a sex pest and weird with women at cons
>>98773011Truke. And I think that's the problem with Zoomers, really. It's not boring to stay home like it used to be. Back in the day you had confidence building activities as a kid like summer camp, you'd get a lot of the weirdness out of your system in middle school, and in high school you were ready for that first job at the movie theatre or whatever and your first serious girlfriend. It's definitely hard to catch up if you miss that natural life flow. But what other alternative is there but to try?
