I gotta hand it to Wizards, this is the second modern set that I recall where I went in not excited about it at all because it looks extremely gimmicky but I end up playing it and it's actually pretty well designed and fun.The first was War of the Spark, where the millions of planeswalkers looked like a bore. This time around, the alternate universe schools look stupid and the Empower Jace mechanic looks annoying. But no, the schools are thankfully easy to ignore and the Empower Jace mechanic is great.I haven't even been winning much, but the games have been fun. I even managed to make a Black Green deck with this shitty card that had some fun wins off of it on the way.

am I the only one who thinks this "basic landcycling {2}" trend is really fucking strong in limited? we used to have [type]cycling at this cost and rarity which was way, way worse. these are cards are almost Transguild Promenades/Rupture Spires in terms of fixing (-2 mana compared to an untapped land), except they work at instant speed, are playable top decks, and turn on discard/graveyard synergies.for instance in FRA limited, the Golgari Hapatra is nuts with just a few of these in your deck, she'll always activate for 5 or more counters. the opportunity cost is so low, it really feels like the limited version of stuffing a commander deck full of MDFC lands.

All these cards won me games. I won with unblockable damage and with voxmancer spam.Like I said above, this is a very fun draft format, and this time around I can say it with actual wins behind my belt. I'm impressed.
