Any of you lads play MWO have opinions on the MAD-M? It's got the goofy game original railgun on it, but I'm kinda mulling over getting it; MWO can feel like a dead game though so 60 bucks even for a pile of goofy mechs is still giving me a bit of sticker shock. To keep on topic; here's a sheet I whipped up for the nearest you can make table legal. >>98761579And most others will be in forced withdrawal; really the ammo explosion changes are almost more flavor and consistency rather than anything else.

>>98761511Most players will kill you if you even suggest running a campaign

>>98761549>>98761491But...the merc creation rules make it not terribly difficult to get both a dropship and a jumpship. I've built 3 commands using the game rules and 2 of them have had jumpships from unit creation. Why is using the rules cheesy?
>>98761166It was a running joke in the MIC thread that he keeps trying to scam everyone by selling them scrapheap battlemechs.
>>98761620I'd strangle a Capellan infant with its own umbilical cord to be in a campaign, but I don't have the time to devote to one. I've even put painting on the backburner.
I think we should nuke Australia. It might make mornings in here more tolerable. At least then we could get shitposters that know how to play.
>>98761635>Why is using the rules cheesy?Rules =/= lore
>>98761449>this slows down classic even moreAh, so you've only played Classic *after* the update that moved 10 Heat Sinks to the engine and left bombs in a lot of 'Mechs chests that weren't supposed to act that way such as with the MAD-3R.I suppose you are an Energy Boat user that also don't like how this buffs the various ballistic mechs that have Machine Guns because those weapons can actually be used rather than immediately needing you to dump all ammo or risking insta-death.
>>98761635A Fortress is a 12 mechbay dropship with 12 vehicle bays and room for 3 platoons of infantry. It is three times bigger than a Leopard or Confederate by weight This means to need and have a dropship of this kind, you are fielding- a full company of mechs- a full company of vehicles- a full company of infantry- almost 250 ship borne personnelWhich is certainly possible, but it means that you would have to be an established mercenary outfit, have massive seed capital and/or have house backing.Four guys in a shed are going to have a smaller dropship. While we're at it, you have to be a certain retarded size of mercenary outfit to have a jumpship as well. A Scout is well over 300 MCbills; you would need to be making well over 3000 jumps over the lifetime of the vessel to have it pay for itself over booking a charter; so unless you're doing serious business special operations shit you really ought to take the bus.
>>98761746>over 3000 jumps over the lifetime of the vessel to have it pay for itself over booking a charterI think it would be slightly less, but while you do have to pay for its maintainance, the flexibility of movement would allow for you to get secure a number of contracts that you may have missed out on from a jump ship not going your way, and you could have people pay you to transport stuff around around with one of its two several hundred ton Cargo bays (gonna need the other for food, probably)But realistically that probably only moves the needle to around ~2500 to pay off. That is at minimum 2500 weeks, or about ~49 years if you are immediately jumping every week. Probably looking far closer to the 100 year mark as a minimum.

(Weapon crit from the left side) as they chewed into its rugged internals. Yet it remained standing like the glorious indestructible shit bucket that it is, tanking the majority of the enemy stars firepower for the entire game. The Wasp got to live another day despite getting backstabbed by the crippled Rifleman C 2 due to insanely bad rolls on the clanners part, that's what happens when your aces deck has you jumping every turn. That +2 TMM + Heat from plasma rounds when trying to hit a light adds up.Pouncer got a nasty surprise from two hover tanks on turn two, since they are equipped with 12'' ECM bubbles screwing up its BAP scanning range and needing to run within 4'' of them. (They were also trying to backstab the Thunderbolt) Figuring that the Pouncer had the armor to survive one round of shots while getting a scan in. (And of course it scans the one that magically blows one of your weapons up with a lucky crit, thanks CYOA bullshit.)Both the Howler and Locust IIC were too fast to stop from fleeing off the board as I was a little too lucky with my rolls for them to not immediately flee due to forced withdrawal.
>>98762749>Autistic, or picking up the subtext?perhaps I should have been more clear. I am normally not one to pick up social cues well but it was obvious even to me that Shen was acting in his own and Eleanor was not sleeping with him to get a better mech.

I can write all the story I want between the matches, but the matches themselves dictate how things will go. Eleanor Gale in her Highlander, dominating the battlefield as an unstoppable Mechwarrior would be a great tale, but I can also work with her getting a Through Armor Critical that double taps the engine early on and forces a withdraw. How does someone who is being praised so much with high expectations deal with such a thing? Then there's also the possibility that she just does okay. Maybe people will stop putting her on a pedestal if that happens.I can work with any of these potential results and more, but I do not get to decide what the actual result will be. The dice will tell me, in time.Until then. I did just finish writing the next bit of storytime lore. I'd like to give it a least a cursory proofread however, as even after I did that the last time, I still found mistakes on the second pass. This one is a bit shorter, coming in at a little over 6,000 characters, so 4 posts.>>98762361Pay attention Cadet Jones, this next one stars you.
Tai-sa Kenjiro Tanaka had just finished meeting with 2 of his cadets. The topic was of course about the recent arrival of the Charger and who would get the honor, or misfortune, of piloting it. He was planning to use it as a motivator for his cadets to improve themselves over the year, but it was looking like it might not be so simple. The conversation with Hobby had been a brief one."I don't want it." Hobby had told him. "I've got a Fire Javelin. A Charger would be a downgrade for me. Besides, I'm really focusing on my gunnery. A Charger would make those results go to waste."Tai-sa Tanaka knew that Hobby was already above the average level of a Mechwarrior and had a good performance in the previous battle. Tanaka would trust Hobby to his own training. The meeting with Ignacio Nachomura had gone similarly."A Charger is an interesting mech." Ignacio had told him. "However I rather like my Blackjack at the moment. I'm not sure I'd like to give up my ranged weapons just yet. I appreciate the offer. Let me know if something like a Dragon becomes available in the future."That caught Tanaka by surprise. He was sure that Ignacio, with his love of pro-wrestling, would want a mech that would let him be more physical on the battlefield. While Tanaka looking out his window and musing over this, the door abruptly opened with a flourish. He quickly turned his head towards the intruder. Seeing that it was one of his cadets, Ishtar Marik, he relaxed a bit."I know you've been talking to the others about the Charger!" Marik began. "That Charger will be mine! I don't know what you've been telling the others, but none of them deserve it as much as me and whether you like it or not you will be giving that mech to me before the next battle!" Tanaka locked eyes with Marik and gave a slight head nod, but said nothing. Marik then turned around left as quickly as he arrived, slamming the door behind him.[1/4]
>>98763482Tanaka let out a heavy sigh. 2 of the cadets weren't interested in the Charger and the other one was demanding it would be his. He still had to check in on Ayumu but he had a feeling that the Charger situation had already been resolved. No, his chat with Ayumu Jones was to be of a different nature. He left his office and after some asking around learned where he could find Ayumu. Tanaka found Ayumu in one of the culinary classrooms. She was in a kimono with her hair tied back and staring out the window. Tanaka considered not even entering. The room was serene and peaceful and he feared that any change might disrupt it. Then, as if responding to his very thoughts, Ayumu looked his way and bowed her head towards him with a smile."Tai-Sa. I hope this day finds you well." Tanaka slowly walked into the room. He answered her greeting with a polite nod and stood beside her. He looked out the window which gave a basic view of the academy ground, but they were on the 3rd floor, so it allowed them to see the fields better."You skipped your training today Ayumu." Ayumu nodded her head. "Would you please explain to me why?""Some bananas came in on the latest shipment. So I took the opportunity to make some Bananna bread.""Hmmm, your callsign. It does smell quite pleasant in here. I can see why you have it." A silence was allowed to linger for a moment before the conversation resumed. "Would I be correct in assuming that you are not interested in becoming the pilot of the Charger." A quiet smile and another head nod answered the Tai-Sa's question. "I suspected as much. Then it shall go to Marik. Please do not tell him that I have already decided. I would hate for him to lose his motivation to improve.""Of course Tai-sa.""Cadet Jones, you being here is a mistake.""I know my performance was not impressive in the previous battle Tai-sa."[2/4]

There was a mix-up with the paperwork and it seems everyone along the line was too concerned with saving face to confront the problem.""You mean that I'm not cut out to be a Mechwarrior." The words lingered in the air. "Tai-sa, when I received the offer to come here, I thought there must have been some sort of mistake. My family has had this Quickdraw and passed it down for generations, yet I never thought that I would actually pilot it. My father was technically still the mech's pilot, but when he saw the invitation for me to come here, he said it was time to pass it on... to me.""Hmm.""The right, the honor, should have gone to my brother.""This mistake can be cleared up and fixed. There would be no mark against you or your family's honor.""That would probably be best. Marik in his Locust did more than I did in my Quickdraw. Yes, it would be for the best if I withdrew from the academy... but... I... I want to stay. Having been in my mech and out there on the battlefield, I felt something I never had before. I feel like I belong there.""Hmm.""Tai-sa, perhaps it is not a mistake that I am here at this academy." There was a ding from the oven and Ayumu scurried over to it. Grabbing some oven mits, she opened the oven and took out the loaf of bread she was baking and set it on the counter. "Tai-sa Tanaka, I know I have skipped training today, but it is for a very important reason and I intend to become the best cadet in this entire class.""Really? The best? Your ratings are currently at 6/6. That's very poor. There are some talented cadets here already, and even a prodigy at this school. Her rating is a 2/4. You intend to out do her?"[3/4]
>>98763495"I do, but..." Ayumu took the bread out of the pan and began to slice it. "...even should I fail to reach the stars I am aiming for, I might at least hit the moon.""Ancient wisdom from Terra." Ayumu put a slice of bread on a plate and walked over to Tanaka with it."Up to today I had committed myself to my baking. From this day forward, I shall commit myself fully to being a Mechwarrior." She motioned for the Tai-sa to try the bread. He looked at it for a moment before picking it up and taking a bite out of it. As he chewed the bread, his eyes went wide and he looked directly at Ayumu. He swallowed his bite."Exquisite." Tanaka said before taking another bite of the fresh bread. His fears about her commitment were alleviated. Anyone that could master such an art, could surely master another. He was sure that she would be a source of honor for her family and the Draconis Combine.[4/4]
You've heard of "winner tops," but have you heard of "winner bottoms?" It disincentivizes winning (unless you're NEA), thereby reducing any powergaming dramatically. Try it!
>>98763491Luminos sounds more fun to say out loud, so that one.
>>98763473>How does someone who is being praised so much with high expectations deal with such a thing?Just ask William.
>>98763610>Just ask William.Fantasize about killing his liaison? Also, William has impressive gunnery and entered battle 1 full of confidence. Yet he got some humbling on piloting. He needed it. But did he need the amount he got? Probably not. Life is hardly fair though.
>>98763491Dominus, hard to beat a 100 ton energy zombie with 2 head cappers and a C3i.
It's still weird to me that no one in the IS has a name for a Nova/Choir type formation made up of a lance of omnimechs and a platoon of BA.
>>98763821Anon, that is just a different kind of augmented lance The real reason is omni mechs are probably still not common enough to bother permanently creating such formations.
>>98763821It's just not a very common formation in IS forces. Usually BA are in dedicated infantry regiments and carried in transports, and IS omnis are still not particularly common. There are exceptions, but they'd just be another flavor of reinforced or augmented lance as >>98763832 points out.
>>98763637Shen is such an unlikable heel that I almost respect it.In any case the path forward for William is to force this despicable man to recognize his skills and get assigned a new mech. He almost high rolled into a Wolverine. What a shame. He also almost has the same rating as Eleanor now so if the next battle goes well perhaps there is ground for a rivalry.
>>98760292Whats up, Homo Rangers?
>>98763943You guys are like, my friends, or something..
>>98763955
>>98763920No Largesse, No Progress!
>>98764037He hurts me because he loves me.
>>98762749>On a related note, your character will get at least half of the spotlight in the next storytime.I can hardly wait to see what you are going to do with how everyone in the Combine interacts with each other. There's some weird interactions that can come out of their setup.
>>98763482Oh hey, missed it was already out.Whelp, pretty sure Marik is gonna eat shit this next battle. Either that or become insufferable from victory.Bet it'll be the Highlander that fucks him up.
>>98764490Howd the last battle go? or are you still working on it?
I really don't get why the Valkyrie has that 11th heatsink instead of a second medium laser. It is probably very rare that you will fire both the LRM 10 and the medium laser after jumping.
>>98764631Introtech typically has either oversinked or undersinked mechs with no inbetween. It is the way of things.
I just bought MW5 Clans in the sale and it's 114 GB? What the actual fuck?
>>98764631What if you get ambushed by a Rifleman? You'll be happy for that extra heat sink and you're hopping around and shooting both weapons.
>>98764720About half of that is prerendered videos, there's a mod that cuts it down to like 63 gigs.
>>98764745What the rest? 4k textures?
>>98764753Marshmallows and tar, actually.
>>98760333>wang lee chuffed to bits with his spiderAwwww, he's gonna fucking blow it so hard.
Are there any major houses besides the ruling house in the Draconis Combine or Capellan Confederation?Kind of like Davion, Steiner and Marik have politically important fellow houses (Hasek, Sandoval, Kelswa, Lestrade, Humphreys, Cameron-Jones, etc).
>>98765067Did someone still manage to shit on the seat there? It's a big hole, how do you still miss when it's that big
>>98765067Skyturd 1 this is Mad Bomber, Over
The new Viper model is really nice. I'm almost done converting a VP-9, just need to fill a couple gaps.
>>98764944so did he die? or..
>>98765067With Dracs there are important houses, it's just that positions like Warlord tend to be earned so those houses try to influence things by back certain figures, like how Drac nobility chose between Teddy or Takashi pre-3039. It seems like any particular houses that tried challenging direct Kurita authority tended to be Kurita branches, like how Takashi had to deal with Marcus Kurita for example, or needed a whole ass conspiracy group working decades, like the Black Dragons.
>>98763087Sunder a cute!Big autocannon and dual big energy ftw.
>>98764753300 million polygon infantry and vees.
