Do you fudge rolls for your players?
no
I fudge rolls AGAINST my players>OOPH! UGH! sorry anon, the minotar crits again
>>98763016Why would I? I don't need to. I use a good system and I understand it very well. I also am very familiar with how to GM generally so I have absolutely no difficulty designing challenges and encounters for players.Fudging is something only shitty noobs have to do to make up for them not knowing what they're doing. Players know when you're doing it. And it never works out well.
>>98763016I don't even roll any dice.
>>98763016not really, I roll openly and so far players usually get themselves into shit their characters die due to poor decisions, so it's on thembut we had situation after epic campaign arc at boss battle they fall short of literary one good hit; I allowed to retro do combat turns for grandma npc character they rescued on the way and we forgot about her totally on the way; she managed to end boss barely
>>98764231>I pretend to be perfect so I can shame people on the internet.Sure buddy. Solo RPGs don't count.
>>98763016No. If i want something to happen or not to happen, I just say it does or does not. You're the DM, you don't need to excuse yourself in front of the players
>>98764618Who are you quoting?
I occasionally give an enemy extra hit points or make it succeed when it should have failed if it would be more satisfying for a different player to get the kill.
Retard.
>>98764618He said he never fudges, so he clearly isn't perfect.
Clearly is, rather.
>>98763016Often? Nah. But sometimes I feel like it so I do it. Perk of being the one who put in the work to set everything up for them is I basically get to run it how I want.
Nah, you run it how I command you to.
>>98763016Is this thread going to be fundamentally different from the "do you fudge rolls" thread that expired a day ago? Are different people going to answer?
>>98763016Every session, not for any reason either. Sometimes I just feel like a roll should be fudged. I think players like it, keeps them on their toes.
>>98763016I run a d12 system and, for my rolls in moments where I can more easily bind my actions by rules, like combat, I take 5 cards from a deck and use them as my next 5 rolls, in whatever order I want. Gives me more playability as a GM, I can actually try and compete against my players for fun a bit.
>>98765526Why would I want it to be different?
>>98767298Because you have already had this discussion. What is left to talk about?
>>98767477Talk?
>>98763016Nope.
>>98763016I always roll in the openI also try to roll myself as little as possibleYeah, I'll roll for for the enemies in combat But shit like NPC disposition when they meet the PC's, or result on a random encounter or loot table? It's rolled in the open by one of the players, after I explain how does a particular mechanic work. Obviously not showing them the contents of a table, but I tell them what are they rolling for. It's a game, not an improv class. The mechanics are in the open, not hidden behind my screenThe only stuff that I roll behind the screen, is things like "turns until X happens" and so on
>>98763016I have never as a DM fudged a roll. Even one it led to anticlimactic encounters I have always gone with what the dice say.
>>98767674I dislike rolling in the open because it encourages players to think they have a right to information. Players don't have rights. They have occasional privileges, at best.
(This is false. -Ed.)
>>98763016Only as a player, I dislike failing at roles because it endangers my characters status as the games protagonist.
>>98772095This actually did make me laugh. Kudos.
>>98764231Nogames
>>98774774Nogames
>>98763016I roll behind the screen and treat whatever results as more of a suggestion than anything else.
