Post spaceships. Maybe brainstorm settings.
>>98763719
Shiptans count.
>>98764373You play that loose with terminology you're going to have people posting ships in space.
Behold the greatest spacefighter in the Freespace franchise.
>>98763719always thought the idea of flying saucers being launched like frisbees would be funny/cool
>>98764277Delta was a bit of a letdown after Frontier, but Nue's design work is as every bit as awesome as it's ever been.
I feel disappointed in this thread, but I can't quite explain why. There are some very classic ships here, after all. I suppose it's because flying office buildings. Simple boxes with engines. Maybe a few embellishments here and there, but nothing that really takes advantage of the lacking need for aerodynamics in space. Am I really wondering where all the flying O'neill Cylinders are? Hm...
>>98764520The Glorious Leopard. somehow able to hold 300 Battlemechs.
Sexo.
>>98765186Best I can do for you, I don't care much for weird ship designs. The Taiidan Salvage Corvette is just the right amount of asymmetric and odd yet functional for me to save.
>>98763719> brainstorm settingsMad respect for those who do, but as a GM, I always was satisfied with what was readily available to me.> Star Wars: KOTOR> WH40k> Firefly/Serenity> Galaxy's Edge LLC> and more! There's something I really like about the dynamics of a space transport, its captain, its crew... The only thing I could really want from a new sci-fi setting is more fighter escorts.
>>98763719Fucking love Taiidan designs from Homeworld! Their cruisers are so sexy!
>>98764373The Taiidan are the only ones we never see in the games, aren't they? I think the RPG by Modiphius has one guy who looks like a generic scifi space marine. Personally, I always kind of pictured them looking like futuristic IJN sailors like in Gunbuster.
>>98765186Gundam actually has a couple, but only in obscure spinoff manga.
>>98766072Well, we do see the emperor, barely. I kind of get the feeling they're like Sci-Fi Melnibonéans. For me though I'm a firm supporter of the Taiidan being the real Hiigarans based on circumstantial evidence from the first game.

>>98766125They ruined the design with those stupid pipes.

Sort of related question. If anyone has any inspiration that'd fit this:In my setting there's a sort of liminal subspace called the Veil and containing a lattice that wraps around the world, it's kind of a sunless skies or dEAD gODS style of unconstructed potential as a scaffolding for reality. Tech is pulpy 1940s with some fantasy tropes and they graduated to airship. Would be cool to have a Veil ship. They have the equivalent of lasers and such. Any ideas that would be similar to airships but metal and weird?

Warning: this selection of starships require Elite Spaceball Knowledgeâ„¢ to appreciate.
>>98766434I see the toilet, but there doesn't seem to be any sinks or shower.
>>98766449Funny, none of those looks like an RV or a Macross-class in a maid outfit.
>>98765186>lacking need for aerodynamics in space. Not really a thing unless you plan to never ever land.
>>98766456That bugged me as well, I´d say it´s a minor flawHowever I wanted to post a spaceship map and that´s the only one I got
>>98766469anon doesn't know most irl ships need ports because they can't land>>98766456>>98766545isn't the space directly across from the toilet supposed to be sink on the port side + shower on fore wall
>>98766554On further inspection it seems to me, that the structure on the starboard wall isn´t the cistern but a cistern/faucet kompination or at least that´s what I thinkThat Portside module looks more like a computerterminal to me
>>98764277where is this from?its not macross frontier, is it?

Huh lads, does something seem off about this transport to you?
>>98767058I think it just needs so more sunbathing launch it into the sun
>>98766398I don't understand what you're talking about but here have something
>>98766368Yeah, it's a good'n.
>>98766434>merchant shuttle>no cargo hold
Why fly a spaceship when you can travel space by surfing the stars, man
>>98770289You're thinking way too legally
>>98769848This hurts my eyes.
>>98766021World needs both those who revisit old worlds and those who create new ones. You do good work too.
>>98770585You should probably see someone about that... or turn down your screen brightness.
>>98770289Maybe it has more than one deck. Or maybe it can go up on big struts and have removable cargo containers attached to the bottom like the Public class' missiles in Gundam.
>>98763719C O N E SONES>>98764520I'm constantly and mildly annoyed that they turned the aerodyne Leopard into a VTOL. Like, give me a Union.
>>98770342I'm not radical enough to shred gnar amongst the nebulas, anon.
>>98763719LOGH spaceships are my favorite at the moment.>>98764257Steampunk and steampunk inspired aesthetics might be a corpse right now, but I'll still love them.>>98765186>Am I really wondering where all the flying O'neill Cylinders are?I think when most people think of spaceships they think of warmachines but in space with lots of guns to destroy other spaceships.I think O'Neill Cylinders count as spaceships. I also know that some people may look at the vast sizes of those things and perhaps classify them as "artificial planets" due to how big they are. But I think they're just space ships that act as massive habitats for lots of citizens aboard them.
>>98771182It always had VTOL capability from the rocket thrusters on the bottom. In fact, they're the main engines when it's in space, otherwise the gravity wouldn't work properly. The big engines on the wings are massive, air-breathing fusion powered turbojets it uses for forward thrust in atmosphere. The video games just depict it flying around in space like a plane with the afterburners constantly firing out the back is because it looks cool.
>>98765186>O'Neil cylindershttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSsWkooeIds
>>98771308>always had VTOLNo, the transit drives were space only. Landing was depicted in fluff and by the rules as needing a runway.
>>98771343That's a bit silly, innit? I mean, I guess a runway would be a handy thing to have if you're landing in friendly territory and don't want to set anything on fire.
>>98769682Thanks, it's cool.
>>98770289What exactly do you expect from 8t cargo? This was clearly made by someone clueless about logistic because most of delivery trucks you see in any city are in 4-12t cargo range. It's so bad you would need four of these shitpiles to carry the same cargo an average lorry does.
>>98767058>Cancer on shipI prescribe 40mt of radiation therapy
>>98771250>>98765186There's oil rigs that can move. That doesn't make them ships.A trailer isn't a car.Movability doesn't inherently confer vehicle-nature.An O'Neill CAN be a spaceship but you better give it a drive with serious heft.
