Does Riftbound tell a story through each set? Not sure what's going on
>>98777543Yes, as the effort put into each set rises or falls you can see the story of Riots quarterly revenue reports play out before your eyes.
If you don't want to use discord, make a forum, because you sure as hell aren't making a game on 4chan. You still won't because you don't want to make games, you just like the idea of making games
I remember using Pojo for Yu-gi-oh during 5D/GX era lol. Forums were kinda basedDiscord, I can barely use
Fifth for, I stopped caring about Gundam before I even finished the deck I wanted, because of strike freedom and blockslop.
acg is real tsundere about riftbound lmaooo
>>98778418/acg/ is tsundere for all western games.
>>98778426Nah, /acg/ blatantly hates FAB, for example. But you can tell some anons here tried Riftbound for the first time expecting to hate it because of the IP and Riot, only to find that they actually enjoyed it. They probably hate themselves for liking a top 10/popular game.
I'm collecting gundam but my severe social anxiety is preventing me from going out and actually playing.Anyway, looking to collect a second card game. Is FF TCG dead on arrival?
I'm in the mood for a !MtG Shandalar DM anon better get things going so we can fork your shit, that lazy AI one some made earlier this year was terrible
This thread is kek'd, I shan't be posting here anymore. You off topic porn mongers ruined it.
>>98778476DM anon here. Sorry for the slow progress. I was on hiatus from working on it for multiple months because of real life bullshit. I did resume a few weeks ago and it's going well.I really want the first public release to be in April of next year because that's when DM blocks start and I want 2-block constructed to be playable immediately so there's at least one "complete" competitive format while I work on the rest of the cards. On the topic of !MtG Shandalar: The rules engine is its own library so if someone wanted, they could link that library against a custom client so it should be pretty easy to make a Shandalar clone. The rules engine is built using a generic card game framework that should be pretty easy to adapt to make other card games. I scope-creeped pretty hard.
>>98778512Their goal was to ruin this thread all along, they are emboldened by your disgust. They are not good people and their off topic posting should be flagged for deletion.
FLESHANDBLOODIs saved.
>>98778450FAB occupies a special place in /acg/ history though. It would probably be a beloved /acg/ darling if not for the FAB community being who they are.

Welp my locals dropping One Piece. The only people buying were scalpers chasing the manga arts or whatever and dumping the rest in the recycling bin by the counter. Nobody was playing and it was just taking up limited space on shelves. Meanwhile Digimon is still going which honestly shocked me. Gundam i expected from brand inertia alone but i was honestly expecting DNA's footlong stack of horseshit to keep track of for one character to kill off interest but here we are. Never thought it would outlive One Piece what with the tv show hitting with normies.
>Find my old World of Warcraft tcg decks and collection in a box on top of closet at the back covered in dust>Never actually played them just bought them back when i played WoW like a fucking dumbass>Decide to give it a go with friends>Its just mtg commander balanced for 2 players and with multiples of cards>Have a good time and people watching ending up playing over the Cyberpunk demo>Google what happened>Killed for fucking HearthstonePoor game was too good for this world.
>>98780702Nigga should’ve kept his arcane polarity instead of pitching it
>>98780322Nothing, it's an issue with the parent company. Replace Lorcana with similar mechanics and non Disney themeing and there wouldn't be an issue.
>>98780774>Its just mtg commander balanced for 2 players and with multiples of cardsthat was how it started, but it became so much more than that. ambition was off the charts. one of the absolute best TCGs and yeah it deserved better. also among the longest running fan continuations, because it really is that good
>>98778950It will be once the simulator releases. I'm working on the client, rules engine, and framework all concurrently.
>>98780702>Warrior truly is the worst classWarriors are the biggest divas in the game. The most diverse weapon spread in the game, they block good, attack good, get go again out the ass and can choose between burning down the opponent by drenching them in reactions or drenching them in other type of reactions to fatigue them and swing sword with the last card in hand. The only weakness you have is that you don't draw good>GOLD exists Scratch that, you have zero weaknesses.

>>98781513You might mistake it for the video game card game inside XIV instead
>>98781536>mistake itThat's just Lord of Vermilion. They're both Square Enix game. FFXIV has Triple Triad and mahjong in it too. That's like saying you might mistake mahjong for the mahjong inside of FFXIV instead.
I bought this cute card.
>>98782075Adorable! What game?
>>98782155Gangan Versus. It's an official card game published by Enix from 2000 and features characters from Gangan Comics (Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater, Pani Poni Dash, etc.)While the comic is still around the card game is long since dead. The art evokes an indescribable sense of warm nostalgia.
>>98779868>>98779680>durrr there no sim i can use?? duhhhh durrrrrr>what TTS duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh>i cant make my own sim!!!!!!!>um actually i was talking about going to locals because there ARE sims!!!!!!!!!!!
>>98778450Yep... I was a Riftbound hater but it converted me in the end. The gameplay is fun and the decks have gotten significantly more interesting since Origins, also it's pretty cheap.FaB's biggest issue is simply LSS being greedy kikes. >>98782274>Won nexus night finallyCongrats, bro.I may not play Riftbound or care much about it, but I swear most of this thread is collectors, larpers, and trolls, so it's nice to hear about someone playing and winning rather than all the whining and negativity we usually hear.Either way, cheers to that, and hope you score more future wins.
Had a chance to try this on Sunday. Who knew the worst tentacle raping I'd ever receive would be in a Disney card game? Turns out trying to play this 4 players is rediculously difficult, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a very specifically tuned deck. Later 2 player attempts at the same table were far more successful, so be warned to keep the player count low.

>>98783198I know tcg players can't read but it literally says 1-2 players on the box.I don't even play lorcana and I can see that.
>>98783760Oh, ignore that. The 1-2 refers to what's in the box (they include 2 decks so that it's stand-alone). They explain in the rulebook that you can expand to up to 4 players by adding your own decks, and they include enough pieces to allow you to do so. In fact, they suggest using your own decks for some of the harder scenarios. It was like that for the last 2 co-op games, as well.

I don't play this game but I entered for shits and giggles and because I like Seraphine. Is this even a good deal? What does a box in this game usually go for? Can you make a competent deck with only cards from this set or very few cards from other sets at least?
>>98785768Yeah it's fine that sounds about right.
>>98778942>>98779242LSS being gacha levels of predatory with their releases doesn't help. The community is autistic sweats top to bottom, and there's no entry point for new players that's even passably fun.
>>98785840>no entry point for new players that's even passably funYeah all of the players in my area turned into investors in the 3 years I played. Now local chat is just bouncing around whatever they got from the last calling or their 6 extra chinese new year sink belows. RIP SAGE I was the only player here for it.
Funny enough all of the most hardcore investor type faggots who dropped in just once or twice hoping to scoop some $$$ cards from the weekly all bounced off it and turned to Riftbound or Sorcery kek. Can't help but laugh from across the LGS when I see them huddled together with their binders and exclusive alt arts or whatever nonsense. The exact type of faggot to drop out of the tournament X-1 and not even stay for fun.
Came in 2nd of 8 in my last Lorcana set champs for a while (2nd kid due in Dec). I've played in 1-2 every set since set 4 and come in 2nd four times now, but never gotten the mat. I lost a mirror on 3 games to some ringer who signed up last minute at the main store I play at, and despite it being single elimination the app dropped me to third (because of opponent game win record, since I took him to 3 games...) and so I took home 3 prize packs instead of 8 for 2nd, plus of course no mat. Kind of a kick to the nuts, though I know that's how these things go. So I'm gonna go ahead and sell my expensive cards and move to a new game when I come back, I think. Or maybe buy back in to whatever is the cheap deck after another rotation or two. This store has been dogshit with prizing since one of the co-owners left, and I'm not really enjoying the game much anymore, it's just too linear and every matchup is "you either get the back breaking card and stomp, or you roll over".
>>98784191Whatever void of undeserved confidence you need to shut the world away, dude.
>>98785887Sorry to hear you got so close, but never got your mat. That must be frustrating. I play pretty casually, so no mat for me yet, either, but I'm not mad because I'm not super locked-in.

Narutos TCGThe one summon per turn causes a pre 2006 Yugioh condition called topdecking syndromeSupports are the real units in this game. Some supports are broken like JiraiyaThe game goes play summon set supportsWait for someone to attackFlip supportsBoard is clearedTopdeck something or notIts a loop where you and your opponent support rape each others board until one loses card advantage ie their hand is shitIt reminds me of old yugioh where you NO U Trap spammed all the timeIf you could play more units per turn this wouldnt be an issue but fucking christ its terribleEX summons just lmao they are broken as you can spam them as much as you want in your turn meaning this game will devolve into EX summon hand vomit OTKThe lack of non unit cards other than summon and chakra is disappointing
>>98796290>The lack of non unit cards other than summon and chakra is disappointingBandai has been simplying its games over time.
>>98794835Holoka doesn't have any effects that force your opponent to mill but out of the decks that do self mill, Riona goes into it the hardest, with arts that mill her own deck as the effect so she can get in range of activating her SP to close out the round.

>>98794835Ashes
If LSS killers her off to give Dr. Mortimer street cred I'll never return to the game.
>>98796274I hope you like it. It's really enjoyable, even if you don't like magic.
>>98796274Keep us updated.
>>98794835this is a good answer right here >>98797135Ashes is one of the only games I've played where mill is a fucking legit part of the actual game instead of a bullshit backdoor wincon.
>>98796290>>98796351A war game really doesn't need any more card types than actor, asset and action. Artifacts and Enchantments should've never been separate card types.

why are the japanese so bad at balancing in card games?
>>98794201Sure.A few of the issues that just about every single jinteki clone right now is running into are server scaling. For every feature, you should immediately thing "does this work if 100 people are doing this?". Does ashteki work if 200 people are using the lobbies at the same time? (answer is no).If you have the luxury of working on a dead card game, you can plan out all the features ahead of time and make sure your engine supports it, which is super nice. You probably already do unit testing, but being able to unit test individual cards and functions in a really easy way is such an insane boon to development time and bug tracking that you'll kick yourself for not getting it set up sooner.Just writing a basic wrapper which sets up a game with two decks (which don't have to be legal, for the sake of these tests), and rigged starting hands, means you can write any test super quickly to determine basic card functionality and ensure it stays if/when you do rewrites.Open!Batoru is kino, but the dev shot himself in the foot by making cards very verbose (when wixoss as a game is so simple that 95% of the card pool should just be cards definitions that just look like{"card-id" "Jester, first play" "enter": (vanish-power-lte 9000 ["1c"]) "life-burst": (vanish-upped-card ["1c"])})I'm assuming since you've tried a few times you've already separated out all stats from implementation. The optimal way (in my opinion) is to have a database of cards which you can update, and each card has an id (ie the full name of the card), and you just write an implementation against the full name of the card. That's kind of the main advice I can give without knowing more. I really wish I knew the unit testing one way earlier in my career.
>>98794201>>98798867Oh, one more.If you intend to have your software be translated in any way, you should give some serious thought to how you want to do that as early as possible. Mozilla uses fluent, which seems really nice, but you'll still need to solve the sentence structure issue if you generate text. Most western languages have roughly the same sentence structure as english, but all the eastern languages have sentences that are formed differently, so you can't just staple translation fragments together if your engine generates text. Most of the popular commercial clients (like runeterra) basically just had libraries with thousands upon thousands of translation lines in them to cover everything (though that game had no game log, so they only needed interface, card text, and hover text for keywords and features - and they still fucked it up). Also, even though you're likely to crowdsource this stuff, never let anybody touch it unless they are very proficient in both the source language of your game, the language they are translating into, and the rules of the game and how things should look. If somebody is "learning spanish", then the best they can possibly do is tell you if the vibe of translated text in spanish is reasonable.
The Morde alt art goes so hard.
Do I need to play LoL? I don't shit about the characters
>>98799382no, and you really shouldn't play LoL anyway
can i play the sexy goblin things in riftbound?
>>98799511The yordles?
Is the gothic precon set a good place to start with Sorcery? 40 bucks for 4 decks sounds like a good deal.
They need to pair ban blockers in Gundam, genuinely annoying to see someone play blockers for the first 7 turns and then just drop SF on the 8th and win. Dumbest card ever printed
>>98798867I think I should be good for most for this stuff due to the nature of the engine/framework. Not gonna get too technical into it but basically cards (and game rules to a degree) are implemented with a custom scripting language designed to run as bytecode with minimal memory overhead. That's what I'm working on right now. It might take a while. I tried a few other existing embedded scripting languages like Lua and Angelscript but unfortunately they have one issue or another that makes them not work for my use case of running potentially thousands of scripts simultaneously on the same server (eg. memory overhead for each script, improper sandboxing between scripts, nontrivial state serialization, etc.).I'll make a special note to make my testing environment really robust. In past versions I've done simple "cheat" commands for forcing me to draw a card I want. I'll definitely try to expand that. Probably some automated system for instantly loading a game state that I want (eg. card in hand, enough mana to cast, creatures in battle zone to target with abilities/spells, etc.).>>98798953Since the game is Japanese, this was a consideration since day 0. Both the cards and the interface will support English and Japanese. I know enough Japanese myself that I'll be able to do it all myself, though I'll just scrape English card translations from the wiki because that's what the English community has gotten used to... even if I would have translated many things differently myself (not rules, just wording and names).I'll leave any other languages up to contributors. Even if I don't bother to officially merge other translations (because I wouldn't know if I could trust it), the plan is that all translation stuff will be files you can just throw into a particular directory to be loaded at runtime, so the community could just host their own repos for that.
>>98791247Pair ban blockers, limit the number of vanilla cards per level to a max of 4. Just generally limit the numbers of blockers and aggro bullshit card so people would actually be forced to play the other cards
>>98799511>>98799523I don't play it, but I could have sworn I've seen an anon post a card or two with one of them on it.
>>98797898>>98798026I'm at chapter 12. Wtf bros, this is really good. This shit actually made me pull the trigger to order a premodern deck I've been on the fence about for 3 years
>>98779242it's just too easy to grab tempo and never let go of it, "blocking = not playing" is how the game is perceived, and there are matches where all you do is block
>>98799938>"blocking = not playing" This is such a cringe aggro-brain take from the playerbase. Fatigue games are just as (if not more) skill intensive as playing your aggro combo. Blocking is just a big a factor as attacking is in FaB

>>98799542Based. Yeah, if you can set up unit testing where you can just describe the gamestate as json (or, you can just load arbitrary gamestates as a list of zones->content), then it's super easy to verify stuff.Especially when you're doing hundreds (or thousands) of cards, making sure something works without needing to fiddle around with it in your engine to double check is very based.
