About that yesterday comment about too dense table - are tables like this really "too dense" in your opinion? Warcor pointed out that it's important to prevent single sniper to cover half the table and giving units options to get around and secure objectives instead of turning game into sniper duel.
Or this.
Is pic related an alright terrain set up for some demo games? Gonna be teaching a friend but it's my first time actually setting up a table>>98778806>>98778809Both those tables look good desu. I think the main problem people had last thread is that the maps were so dense that it seemed like any model could just go anywhere and get partial cover. Also those tables looked like a nightmare for TAGs and REMs to move around
>>98774094What strikes me is that you didn't score any points in the games you've lost, how did this happen?
>>98778806>>98778809on the other hand, the first table does diminish snipers and general long range firepower very much, and emphasizes impetuous activations and short rage firefights. the second seems more balanced, has at least a couple long firelanes which can be used.
>>98777941>>98777997>>98778521yeah but they covered the model with an ass cape... whats the point
>>98778806yes, is important to prevent sniper dominance, but not at the expense of not being able to draw a LoF longer than 40cm.Put the sniper towers out of the dep zone, block their vision with large buildings or trees...
>>98779247Those missions were: Data Harvest, The Dig and Double Blind. The one I won was The Dig.As my opponent pointed out in first game (Data Harvest), it turned out to be very "all or nothing" mission - while I managed to grab two harvesters, I failed to place one at zone inside enemy half of the table, second was placed inside DZ but deactivated in last turn since I had no proper defense left to prevent that (only single Fennec left here, Yamabushi died just close by), likewise my opponent managed to place one harvester inside closer zone and, with last order, placed second inside my DZ - and since it was last turn of the game (I had initiative), I couldn't do anything. 6 points total scoring multiple objectives (two harvesters, having more than enemy, having none active in your zones, etc). Second lost game, 9-0 score because I had to surrender, lacking any active pieces left - my goal was to "dominate" zones around consoles but lost hard here - initially Crux got to one, Tikbalang to another but in opponent turn he managed to land Total Control on TAG and used him to kill Cruz, then retread deeper into his own territory, ending his turn with him in base contact with Shona, so in my turn I could only get control back, try to dodge and have him die to Shona CC attack. Here my opponent claimed I should had use Heavy Flamethrower instead of trying to dodge but I assumed I cannot use template weapons while engaged in CC. On my second turn tried to salvage situation a bit but couldn't do much. We agreed that he had all the tools left to destroy all consoles (which was his mission) while I had none to secure any.

>>98778985Do you plan to use paratroopers or other such shenanigans? Those empty sides look a bit iffy.
>>98780344Hadn't actually considered that honestly, at this point the two demos I was gonna run was one game of 3 line troops vs 3 line troops and then another demo with 2 line troops + whatever model they think is cool vs 2 line troops + something much weaker then whatever they pick. Mostly just waiting on her to actually pick a faction she likes so I can tailor the demo a bit. I'll add some clutter to the sides though, that's a good suggestionI did also try making pic related with the terrain from one of the starter sets but it still feels too open?
>>98782186This table actually has a little too much clutter. Learn to love having at least one major fire lane on your table. Learn to love using weapons other than boarding shotguns. Learn to love using drop troopers.I see too many tables posted here and IRL where cunts just scatter crates and shipping containers in every possible 4" square of space.
>>98778809This looks fucking retarded. Why are the buildings and shipping containers on the roads? The pink tranny buses are parked like fucking barricades.
>>98778806This looks really bad. I mean the buildings have that nice colour scheme, but the table layout is just terrible. Why are the buildings all overlapping the roads? Roads are great. They give someone a place to site hmgs and snipers. They give you a reason to use infiltrators, smoke, holoprojectors, or move+dodge. The insane density of the scenery doesn't do much for the game. Boring as fuck. I hope you like shotguns and impetuous troopers.
>>98778985I like it. But note the position of the truck with the pallets. Whoever created it is trying a little too hard to prevent flank attacks, and also really doesn't want the diagonal road to be a fire lane. But it's cool with all the crashed cars.
>Trying to assemble metal figure for first time>Never used Gorilla Glue before>Try to use it>Shikami head struggles to stay on as there's a small little gap between the torso and jacket and won't fully close no matter how hard I push the 2 together>Get Gorilla Glue on my fingers and accidentally on my desk >Have to sand off the Glue from the desk and wipe up the dust>Spend the next hour soaking my hands in the sink with warm soapy water and just scrubbed it with the rough side of the sponge>Still feel some of itNow I know to use damn gloves when handling this shit, this is stronger than plastic glue, holy shit. How do you guys deal with it?
>>98782474I was using the regular Gorilla Super Glue, and was reading that people use the gel version. Does it matter which one I use?
>>98782497The gel version is just easier to use as it doesn't tend to spread everywhere.
>>98782330But when I take closer look, there are multiple options to shoot across almost entire table and from DZ single sniper can still defend a lot of potential choke points. It's just that other units can still advance around without having to use smoke (which is good for armies that don't have them or have limited availability like PanO) and move + dodge is still very risky. Those three games I played were on more dense tables and I still could utilize long distance rocket launcher ARO or engage HMG fire.
>>98782306Based road respecter
>>98782474Dry fit everything and learn to spot possible mould tears in joints. There shouldn't be gaps if you cleaned it properly. And don't splash glue everywhere, you don't need to use much of it. Never used gloves myself, if some ca-glue I use do end up on my finger it just peels off eventually. Fingertips regenerate anyway.
>>98783102>There shouldn't be gaps if you cleaned it properlyNTA but a lot of Infinity minis I glued so far had gaps and similar problems. Most of TAGs had to be pinned on arms/legs since they would otherwise "wiggle" inside their sockets and as such, refuse to glue properly.
>>98779797well, mission selection seem to have screwed you over a tad, unfortunately there's no accounting for bad luck.that being said, an old advice from VaulSC was to (if possible) go second, which can be a significant advantage for missions in which scoring is tallyed at the end of a turn (this could have proven useful for the first game). the second game seems a rotten case of bad luck/lack of experience (both not your fault).Under the circumstances you did what you could, perhaps the one thing you noted about the Tik and Crux doing most of the work could be amended by trying to use these pieces in concert with the other elements of the list (such as fireteams and coordinated orders)
>>98783592I'm a bit afraid of going second - from what I understand, by going first I can force opponent to hide some of the pieces and otherwise react instead of act on the opening and have some chance to eliminate some pieces. With counterintelligence, reducing my order pool makes less sense, too. If I would go second, I'm afraid I would end up like my very first game - with all key or ARO pieces disabled or removed. As for Tik and Crux (which autocorrect keep changing to Tim and Cruz, which sound a bit funny), here is the list I was using for that second lost game and one that was not made by me but proposed by Warcor. It was also the same list I used for that one game I won, against Bakunin. In theory, it have four active/mobile pieces - aside from mentioned two hitters, there is also Banshee (which I kept waiting until very late, assuming she would go down on the edge only when truly required) and Pathfinder, who would be essentially a "runner". Rest were either defensive (Black Air) or support (Tech Bee, Mechanist) or order generators. In worst case scenario, two FO Fennecs would try to move forward a bit to press some buttons, throw discoballer or such.I admit that moving Tik so much forward was a mistake, I completely didn't took into account that Svalar still have some hackers, in this case two Locusts in hidden deployment. Rest of key enemy pieces included, aside from Shona, Karhu and Vargar, forming a team with Shona and Infirmarer, Knight of Justice with some Fusiliers and few other pieces I forgot. But Shona Pain Train was pretty effective group.
>>98782474I suggest you get a small bottle of nailpolish remover, it breaks down the glue so you don't have to kill your hands scrubbing. You're welcome. >>98782591gel is easier to overuse, which is that guy's problem. You get the liquid stuff, you apply it to the edge of a piece of paper and you apply it to the model parts you want to glue. Over time that tip of the paper will get hard, just keep using it as your applicator, and wick away any excess liquid with the end of a paper towel (blot, don't smear). I use this, a piece of junk mail, and a paper towel. It never fails me.
Btw, does a brand of superglue exist with a thin needle applicator like for plastic glue?
>>98784342CA glue tends to clog, something plastic glue can't do without plastic, but there's thin channel tips on certain brands. None are needles, no. You can buy a bundle of thin applicators that will adapt to any bottle nozzle though.
>>98782474Fucking kek I didn't know people with worse motor skills than me existedBrush type applicators are good
>>98783383You didn't clean them properly.
>>98784774Yes, I did. CB molds are not perfect.
>>98784774Let's call a spade a spade here; metal models are notoriously difficult to properly clean up, though not impossible. It takes a lot of time working with that material and its maker to get a feel for what steps need to be taken to ensure a proper fit. I do endless dry fits and adjustments on mine, and only when the whole thing is put together I will notice there was still some material that needed to be cleaned off to flawlessly mate the parts.
How do I clean up this glue from the guy's feet? Noticed it was covering some of the toes.
>>98785000Superglue debonder would be the solution, but imo it won't be very noticeable after you add terrain paste and everything. It could just be mud or something.
>>98783759just as curiosity, did you try the list we tried to work-out in the previous thread? noticed any differences?as i can see it, the Black A.I.R. was used in a fireteam with the Fennecs for the bonuses? you could deploy the Banshee from the beginning (thus giving you KHD coverage against people trying Total Control on the Tikbalang) and adding her order to the pool (as she is still the cheapest KHD in the faction, and has super-jump to move in later turns). Also, i would try to switch the Crux for a Hetkari multi red fury.
>>98785000That's where having a piece of card stock or paper towel to remove the excess glue helps, but only when applying it. Some people even use metal tools and just break off the glue once it cakes on.
>>98785354The one that was named "List 1" from previous thread was indeed used for first mission, Data Harvest. It was overall more defensive but it felt okay, had it's own problems as instead of having two strong solo pieces (Crux and Tik), it had duo of Tik and Firefly engineer, rest was largely stationary (Griffin couldn't leave without breaking fireteam, when he died however, two Fennecs FO could move forward and the one carried harvester to enemy DZ, using discoball to cover himself, normally Yamabushi would follow to support but he died to mine in DZ).Why exactly Hetkari instead of Crux? He is also rather stationary piece and not a specialist. Also, against Svalar, Banshee couldn't protect Tik as both hackers were in hidden deployment, attempting hack only when in comfortable position of their active turn.
Oh and tweaked a bit that list from previous thread actually, forgot about it - changed hacker Fennec to second FO and Squalo to Tikbalang. I can't take screenshots right now because CB changed something in their desktop version and now clicking on loading code shows just "local" icon that does not work. Eh.Code, if anyone want: axZrZXN0cmVsLWNvbG9uaWFsLWZvcmNlE0tlc3RyZWwgYWx0IHRha2UgQzOBLAIBAQAKAIcMAQUAAACHFQEBAAAAIQEBAAAAhxEBBAAAAIcSAQMAAACHCwEJAAAAhwsBCQAAAIcLAQQAAACHCwEKAAAAEwEBAAACAQAFAIcNAQMAAACHIAEDAAAAhwwBAwAAAIcVAQIAAAAQAQIAAA%3D%3D
>>98784966>molds are not perfectThat's why we have the cleanup process.
>>98785075Oh yeah, I could just use my mmud texture I put on my Warhammer bushes and a bush and people won't notice a thing.
>>98784233But how do you get the glue off of the paper and onto the part ya want before it dries fast enough?
>>98785468because in active (and, up to a point, also in ARO) is much more dangerous (marksmanship and bs(-3) makes a rough affair for those on the receiving end), has a better gun, and mobility is the same as the Crux; as far as being a specialist, I think other pieces are better suited: firefighters are for killing. Why would you say the Griffin couldn't move without breaking the fireteam? My point on the Banshee was for future experiments, wasn't intended as a solution for last matchup (which was a nasty situation, I must say)
>>98785611Oh, okay. I wish I could squeeze in both Crux and Hetkari but that would not really be possible I guess. As for Griffin - most of the fireteam was spread around and often separated by pieces of terrain so they would need to jump first and I would still have to worry about breaking coherence.
>>98785567Use a toothpick.
>>98785567It doesn't dry that fast? I honestly don't understand the question.>apply CA glue using card stock to part>dab away excess with a paper towel >assemble, in no rush because the glue doesn't set instantlyI'd film it if I didn't have a horrible desk setup.
Reading all the rules still and I love the idea of CrazyKoalas/MadTrapz/Wild Parrots. The concept of military units employing the usage of tactical little guys that just run at you and explode is so horrifying but then they just make them cute little bears or birds for some reason.
>>98788334
>>98784967I found that blu-tack will harden when you combine it with superglue, so I used that to fill gaps back when I did Infinity minis. I guess you could use greenstuff too if you're less cheap than me
>>98788359What's the tactical usage in putting a smiley face and bear ears on a explosive device you can frisbee at your enemies?
>>98788418It's about sending a message.
why do they call eclipse grenade launchers "discoballers"?
>>98788422Terrifying...>>98788435Laziness probably. I imagine it's just cause they functionally do almost the same thing even if there is a pretty distinct difference, so people just call them discoballers cause discoballs are more universal/available. I have a friend who refers to marksman rifles, rifles and combi rifles as just>riflesThe amount of trip ups we've had because of stuff like that has been a nightmare
>>98788435Who? They work differently.
>>98782186The 24 x 32 size should be okay for the 3v3 games but if you ever decide to do like 150pt games make sure to play on a bigger map. Most missions say to set the board up that size at that points value but I've played a couple games on those smaller maps and they really do not actually work with how "standard" infinity plays, everything is just way too close and cramped to be tactical about anything
>>98785647so a list with Tik lieutenant, Hektari and Crux?
>>98788878That's 167 points on just three guys, squeezing remaining 12 suddenly becomes a real problem, especially if you want them to actually contribute.
>>98788902>needing 15 guys in every list everCuck.
>>98788923You won't get 15 in, but you can make a serviceable list with 13? You're playing Kestrel bro>Do any duo pairing of your liking with the Tik, Crux, Hek & Pathfinder>Form a core with the fennecs so your thunderbolt fennec can ARO and blam cunts to death (could even get the Crux to join them if need be)>Machinist jerks off in a corner and uses palbots to run out>Fugazi, Jackals + Magistrate are your ARO pieces + backup Lt in case the Tik goes downARO duty and providing backfield support with repairs, hacks and network establishment is still doing stuff, even if it ain't flashy. As long as you have Jackals, Tech Bees and Fennecs you can basically do whatever the fuck you want in Kestrel and it will work. If you really didn't care about the hacking you could probably replace that fennec with just a normal guy and grab a tech bee or Sacha for some E/M Grenades. Don't fall for the 15 order meme; gutting your list so you can get an extra order or 2 in is like losing weight by using a knife to slice off chunks of yourself. Especially not worth it when you have such ready access to Tac Aware so you can basically get 15 anyway
>>98788969Replied to the wrong anon lmao >>98788902
>>98788923But Goonhammer claims that you absolutely need 14-15 guys or you would automatically lose from sheer difference in orders.
>>98788969Alright, thanks for the list and explanation. I hope I will be able to test it in reasonable time, turns out that local scene is very focused on competitive league format but maybe someone would like to do some casual play.
>>98789001>competitive league formatWhat does this actually mean to you? Legit curious. As in playing any scenario at all?
>>98789028It means that I would need to sign up, pay fee (which covers rewards) and have to play set number of games at fixed dates, with pre-selected missions, against people with similar official score (all games are reported to Corvus Sphere), with previously declared sectorial (without option to change). Meanwhile, as I'm green guy (one 300p casual game, one local tournament with 3 games), I would rather prefer casual game without pressure.
>>98789049Is your local scene just small and filled with dads of 7 kids with no time free whatsoever? Sounds miserable.

>>98795375Actually, FT Master skill works on all members, not just the ones stated in brackets. However, if unit in bracket is part of that FT and FT Master unit leave the FT, it gets automatically disbanded. So it's more of "negative" modifier, so to speak.
>>98796748The lingerie is really important for piloting, I tell you
Lots of Infinity minis, except latest ones, have that metal bar at their feet attached. Yet, promo pictures clearly shows that it was removed before gluing mini to the base. Or not? What CB expects from people?
>>98800228Do as you like. I usually turn it into pegs to pin the mini into a custom base.
Is there a game mode or format or way to play Infinity against more than one opponent? Got a odd numbered amount of friends that wanna play
>>98803830IIRC, there were some old rules for N2 or something, current editions are strictly 2 players only. However, Eldfall Chronicles (which is very similar to Infinity in many aspects) do have 2v2 or 1v1v1 modes and their rules are also available for free download so you can check here and apply accordingly. Infinity ruleset call that "free game". Just remember that game is optimized for 150-400p games on one side so if you intend to play in 3-4 players, adjust maximum number of points and play on biggest map size.
>>98803867>Infinity ruleset call that "free game".No, Free Mode is the one that removes the model cap.
>>98803907Free Mode is mentioned as generally open to any house rules, removed order cap is just one of options.
>>98803907In case someone would wonder, page 144 of manual:>This ruleset establishes a series of Game Modes with preset features—like table size, number of Army Points and Game Rounds, maximum number of Troopers allowed, and so on—that are considered to be the most suitable to fully enjoy this game. However, the flexibility of Infinity allows players to play games that modify these parameters, without altering the essence of the game.>Players are considered to be playing a Free Game when they agree beforehand on different features than the ones listed in the Game Modes.>An example of a Free Game would be a game with the table and Deployment Zone sizes of a Raid Match, but played with 250 points instead of 200, without a cap on the number of Troopers and with a duration of four Game Rounds instead of the usual three of a Standard Game.>Free Games are a good resource for experienced players to test different game combinations and to keep exploring the possibilities of Infinity’s gaming system.
>>98804287>FREE GAME>This Extra removes the limit of 15 Troopers in an Army List. So, a player can use Army Lists with more than 15 Troopers in them. The ITS definition of Free Game is much more restrictive than the CRB's.
>>98804309Imagine playing against Ariadna without turn limit. Highlanders cheapest profile cost 5 points and are unlimited. Impetuous and irregular but slap Wallace with his Inspiring Leadership and voila, 50 orders under 300 points.
>>98807319England still won
>>98807319FPA and no proxies.
>>98807319This is why using proxies is for homosexuals. CB's biggest mistake was allowing faggots to use proxies in ITS.
>>988038302v2 would be easy to arrange. Stick to something like 400pts max per side (200pts per player) and it could work. The biggest decision is whether to treat the team as "one" army (with 2 lieutenants!), or to have a player in a team use all his orders before his teammate.Either method could work.
>>98789539Why on earth is the big dude here not on a 40mm base?
>>98807966Spec-ops don't change base size when you upgrade them.
>>98808202Well this one damn well should. He's huge.
>>98807879Proxies are one of the best parts of Infinity. Being able to play without having to buy every single model if you have fitting one is great. >>98809359Proxies are nothing but an excuse for CB to not release minis for missing loadouts, make many existing ones OOP "just for a while, honest:^)" and stuff them all into big boxes that raise newbie entry point uncomfortably high.Proxies as a friendly allowance were always a thing, and it should stay a friendly allowance, not a dev-given right.

Despite two loses, it was valuable experience so I guess I would take part again. Question is - since I played Kestrel last time, should I switch to some different sectorial or stay with Kestrel? I also have lots of minis for Military Orders and Varuna.
>>98815311Do you intend to learn anything from your games to improve? Sticking with the same lists for a bit so you have same tool set for different situations lets you learn better. Switching sectorials every game wont let you do that.
>>98815349Alright, fair point.
>>98815311would suggest you take one of the lists from the previous event to try and improve on what you know, and take another new list, and try to use both of them.
>>98809359Proxies are the worst part of infinity, just before the speedball rules. The proxy rules allow mongoloids like you to min/max and play nothing but "tournament meta" lists, while telling your opponent that the morat with the combi rifle is a proxy for an azrael with hmg. I've seen the rubbish that passes for peoples miniatures these days. Acrylic standees, random aliens, and pano troopers dropped onto the table like they shook out the carry case over it. Then they tell you "this is my aleph army". Homo scum players.
>>98810130Having more weapon options on the models benefits everyone.Painters don't get bored, collectors get all the options, and powergaming fags won't have to proxy. It might even encourage people to spend some money on their hobby.
>>98818094Nobody does that and you know it. Proxy rules allows to place Aleph remotes painted in blue and call them PanO bots because they have same base size and are easily recognisable, paint Squalo II in green and call him Tikbalang because your store still don't have the latter in stock or Marut (siocasted) in blue to pretend he is Seraph for same reason. Or avoiding spending extra money on "support pack" to field Mechanist.
>>98818141I dont want extra bits. Back in the day, when ITS packs included weapons sprues, absolute nobody want them and we ended throwing them to the bin. Same with actual minis that have extra opcions, like spec ops or some blister with optional arms. I put the extras in a box and never use them again. I dont want leftovers when i finish putting together my figures.
What's the "main" strategy direction for Japanese, actually? Lots of HD/camo and aiming for melee?
>>98820870Ninja spam is a noob trap
>>98823739And what is not? I mean, you cannot play them just like PanO, for example.
>>98820870JSA have lots of fast, stealth and mimetism units as well as generally pretty high CC stats combined with decent enough vision control. Basically what this means is that you're trying to force your opponent into taking bad trades with you. He may have a MSV model or two, but he won't have enough to reliably cover and deal with your entire army and you should always be in a rangeband that's great for you but sucks for your enemy. All of your HI have stealth so they really can just go wherever they want. They don't care about pitchers or repeaters so hackers will barely get to molest them, and you have some exceptional profiles that are great for close ranged gunfighting with spitfires and boarding shotguns.JSA can also do something unique in that they can run fireteams of actually good melee units with multiple wounds. Usually it'd be a death sentence to just bumrush a fireteam up the board, but you can force these "bad trade" moments where you run 5 dudes out and your opponent's ARO is either>shoot at a jizamurai/domaru that's about to rip your asshole out from your spine but don't shoot at the hatamoto/daiyoyaki with a red fury that's trailing him>shoot at the hatamoto/daiyoyaki and brace for the inevitable DA katana that's about to split your model in halfOban is especially good at doing these banzai rushes. But yeah you really want to try and get some work out of your CC since with how good it is you can basically trade with anything and walk away the victor. A single 20pt Domaru is capable of taking out a TAG just by himself, so as long as your units are trading "up" from their suicide rushes you're in the all clear.
>>98825380Alright, sounds like very skill intensive army then, as in knowing exactly where and when to charge forward. Thanks a lot for explanation.
>>98825445Kind of yeah. They'll take a couple of games to get the hang of but they're fairly easy to understand. Melee is a core aspect of their army so you definitely need to approach them from a different mindset than something like Nomads or PanO, but that doesn't mean>lol just try to get into melee only everTake gunfights when they work in your favour, and then when they wouldn't that's when you unsheathe the katanas. If a domaru can't reach something, send a shikami or teishin to parkour over some roofs and do it instead. If a valuable skirmisher would die, then you send in some retard on a motorbike or unveil someone from hidden deployment to give his life for glorious nippon. As per usual always focus on the objective and you're golden.
>>98825548Stab the objective? Got it.
>>98818951Jesus fucking christ. How stupid can you be?Give the bits to your friends that like to do conversions. Take the spare weapons and glue them into gun racks on your scenery. Retard.
