Alright, last thread people just kinda argued about rules without making builds, here's take 2:

I want to run a couple experiments, would anons mind making builds to see if they balance things better?
>Experiment 1: Talent Discount
Making a builds where your talent rating in one aura type provides a discount. This is to make basic techniques cheap, master techniques slightly less ecpensive, and leave legend techniques largely the same.
Compare your "G" rating to the rating required for a technique, if you G rating is higher it subtracts it's value from the point cost.
Example:
Seismic Strike costs 5 poimt to buy.
Your build has G3 in Core.
Seismic Strike only requires G1.
Seismic Strike now only costs 2 points for you.
>Experiment 2: Aura Burst Mode
Kufoku mentions you'll be able to Double your points after completing an Aura Burst campaign, so why not make builds for that?
Make a standard build for your freshly summoned conscript, then making Another build for your conscript after completing all their campaign missions.

The second build gets build and equipment points equal to their starting "Potential"(45 for talented, 35 for mutated, etc). They get no bonus alterations.

Given how the "Prodigy" alteration works,, double these bonus points points for your second build, but equipment points are not doubled.

Look, everyone takes it anyway, so nothing really changes if that's true, but it might not be. Mind actually making a build so we can test things out?

The winners of these two polls will be inducted into the final cyoa of the year poll

The gender imbalance is mostly female, succubi are so common they're treated like roach infestations, multiple powers deal explicitly with sex and fetish stuff, there's and entire major faction whose main conflict revolves around them being cuttoff from continuing to practice mandatory incest, etc.
It's a hentai parody. More than that, it doesn't take place in china. No "asian afterlife" doesn't cut it, ALL korean murim happen in actual historical china with ki added in.

>>
>>98778368
Yeah you are right but my point is, probably wont be like a sex slave thing.
The cyoa and lore doc talk about "marrying" when it could have just said force to become a sex slave. Its not like the cyoa ignores the existence of that kind of slave.

So while its a forcweful thing, I imagine within the marriage they tend to act more like a dominant wife than a master with slave. Maybe they even put the carnal sigil on themselves and love blooms.

After all, they not only "marry" but also are very picky about it. And from the women's perspective is way harder to just get a sex slave to get pregnant than a man impregnating.

The blue oni twins are even still searching for their man.

NTA but I don't think that Alchemy is that rare, just that only Ragratelyn teaches it out of our choices. The Outsider System is only able to link together feasible choices, but it doesn't mean that it's all that we have available to us in the world. So there are probably Alchemists, but you'd have to go out of your way to find them. I mean, it even mentions many others in her guild being capable at it, she's just the best out of the guild.

the cyoa is braindead easy, even on the most challenging difficulty so long as you have a semi workable combo you can attain anything and everything you'd ever desire with time, the easy mode is explicitly designed for brainlets who didn't read the cyoa and suffered an infantile breakdown in being unable to acquire everything from the get go

Look at the lost espterica you can take.
Taking Go-Mi Surgical Techniques would let you syesl every technique in Yoido, Stygian Soul let's you use and/or build any magic system, Daemon Hsrmonics let's you turn every spirit in youdo into your bitch, etc.
You're asking which is stronger between a wuxia setting or a fucking cthulhu mythos setting.

>>
>>98779610
If he wants an honest non-shitpost opinion, he should stick with spirits and go for helpful companions instead of romances. His build is great for wooing them and with g3 alchemy and legend ceremony they are naturally highly submissive and respectful to him. He wants "kemonos and monstergirls" which is exactly what spirits can be and they can change their form to fit his tastes exactly if push came to shove. He doesn't even need harem mode or mystic beauty to get a whole horde of monstergirl looking spirits wanting to drain him, spirits don't care about that. He could swap mystic beauty to signature transmigration to improve his bargaining or something. As is if he wants sex he can already summon a legion of succubi to shapeshift into his perfect women or whatever.

Arisa is the best of the 3. Best techniques, lots of utility. Only think of removing her if you dont like having kids or you will try to fight her clan since day 1 (if you don't, even if you try to fight her clan you can convince her to join you and she working like a spy is a plus)

Between Fumie and Junko, I am more for Junko's personality and job as Chief Overseer. Her techniques are worse.

On the other hand, Fumie can't even control her fighting technique, and when she goes into combat mode is your job to defeat her as well to put her under control of her own body.

So, unless you really dislike Junko's appearance and/or personality, she is in general more useful.

It's pretty much the only option. Having a harem and not reproducing is beyond SOVLESS.

>Is there some reason to not like red and blue onis waifus?
All oni factions are up to shady stuff. It's in part my own preference as well but I've chosen every option that pits me against those two specifically (Foes/Nemesis). Naturally, I've "sided" with the pale oni at least temporarily because of Arisa. Ono and Katsumi are both my rivals.

No, your techniques is limited to that body. Reread the power. If you vessel tranfer to a body with extra alterations and then transfer out, the extra alterations stay with the old body.

>>98779964
>>
>>98779968
Your technique isn't limited to a single body. You can vessel transfer anyone you want, just like Kofuko. You don't need to do it to yourself. Furthermore the author has repeatedly spoken about future alterations in the sense of "just do it like Kofuko does", though with the implication that you'll need to experiment a lot before you learn all the ways of doing the many different things possible with it. So it's not a matter of technique capability, it's a matter of your own experience and competence.

>exactly what i was asking against
I know anon, just making a point. If you want an answer I might say Cataclysmic Cultivation is a less continuous potential maxer cyoa as your build is more geared to WHAT your potential actually is. There are real chances to choose between more immediate power or greater long-term power as well but it is mostly a matter of what your potential is (and part of Spirit Conscripts issue is there are only 4 and you can max all of them). It's much softer on the actual powers as they aren't really the point. I might also add that a significant difference between the two is resource management. A lot of cyoas that really trigger anons autism have power systems with a fuel source and optimizing this really gets people going (Spirit Conscript with Aura or say Entropist with Souls). Cataclysmic Cultivation has this implicitly with Re (Qi) but it's not elaborated well enough to freak people out and actually a lot of the Re options like the bonus Re reserve aren't super popular.

It's old but holds up in most ways, except for the lame power section. It could really use either something more highly specific that matches the setting closely or something more universal that covers all archetypes someone might want to build. Right now it's neither, it's just an authorial laziness slice of generic power without the fluff or breadth.
>>
>>98780036
>Yeah, Kofuko does the same thing when he's doing it to you, remember?
Not really, kofuko is very much able to give you benevolent alterations without giving you malevolent alterations.

Ambivalent is the exception.

Without being kofuko, the thing changes. You dont need to reach a limit of your soul before adding malevolent alterations becomes mandatory. Its always a give and take.

Anyway, we already know the limit of alterations comes from your own soul + the ability of the one making the vessel. Kofuko is the best at that, and he is already stretching the limit with ambivalent so thats the limit even done by him. If done by just an anon with the technique, even less.
>>
>>98779706
You know what, I think you're 100% correct.
>>
>>98780059
Yeah, depending on your potential. You aren't starting from zero potential if you try to add alterations to yourself, you already have it spent on the stuff Kofuko gave you. Hence where the author's comment comes from and why it supports my interpretation.

The technique doesn't change if you're not Kofuko. Only your knowledge of how to use the technique changes.

This has nothing to do with the technique being different. The technique is still the same. One guy just knows how to use it better than the other. You don't need signature technique for this, it's explained through knowledge and training already.

Nta, this make Mutated weird, it's all about being easier to modify but it got less benevolent alteration than Talented. The alterations are a mess in general, Overtime is a job, Artifact Armory is a storage unit, what does that have to do with body/soul modification. Maybe it's the multiplayer aspect of the cyoa, and the alterations are really about making a backstory.

Updated: Dropped limitless meridians as theoretically having access to 4 more martial arts wasn’t worth it even if would have been my only way to deal with certain things.
Another Attempt at a Purebody build. Had more fun with this one as I was less worried about trying to make up for its shortcomings and instead made something fun to imagine.
Still its potential is capped without figuring out a way to bypass the restrictions (which may be at least partially possible with the right help or secrets) and I would say my undead Purebody ultimately has more going for it but a Massive Red Demon Yokai with four arms and mastery of Divine Hand would be a hell of an opponent.
Long term plan is to use Laceration Touch which turns my four-armed body into blades for all intents and purposes and incorporate more sword arts (already have porcupine) into my style and with Saika Ikki’s Last Memory, I will eventually get me several amazing ones.

Without his training it's probably no. With his training it's probably yes. Probably no is still not definite no.

The point of this is: character generation wasn't unique. There is no special fiat given to anyone by the CYOA, not even you and Kofuko in the beginning.

You might not get the other benefits like being able to lift cars without aura or exorcise spirits with spells, but Everyone uses aura for that anyway.

All the companion builds become the most talented people in the setting, pl/uv/other life extension options become mandatory, prodigy becomes a must pick
>>
>>98780271
PCA never understood the balance of the four default options and never admitted it and instead made OP as a sarcastic response to the feedback. Not only does mutated have one less beneficial alteration (huge), it has 10 less AP which makes the 3 extra malignments a wash points wise (especially since the talented build could use his extra beneficial on eccentric). But at least mutated sort of works, the other two are just crap.

See that's what anti potential maxers don't seem to get. If training time is reasonable then learning powers after landing is the best choice, but if training time is unreasonable the companions must be insane prodigies and that's only explainable if they have a potential maxer build. Either way we win.

talented and mutated are equally valuable, if you like malignants you can get more than 10 points from them, one great technique is about as valuable as two basic ones, and the equipment point difference is kind of irrelevant

you still want talented so that you can have a similar build with more focus on positive alterations instead

practiced and conditioned only exist for weirdos who do gimmick builds, but that's because the meta has settled

>>
>>98780342

They would have the best stats at similar level, perk like Agile might help but the basic Agile is already green while while the basic first Vampire is grey, and I have no idea if you can get stats boosting perk like Agile and Unbreakable later, maybe, it's more likely than getting something like Freshly Born first Vampire that's for sure.
>>
>>98780334
The overpowered player cheated
They actually trained to get multiple legendary techniques at a young age when learning even one is apparently supposed to take 60 to 100 years. If we're going by this headcanon >>98780279 then the overpowered player isn't doing all that. The best build then is to make an harem lord build with universal sovereign or lotus, immolation blessing, prodigy and accept that they're going to hard outscale you in another 10 years
>>
>>98780349
Okay anon lets say you are willing to tolerate Lifelink (7 points) and you take it in both builds. Talented also takes eccentric because it is just a disguised malignant and we like malignments. Which 3 drawbacks will exceed talented's 16 point head start?
>>
>>98780354
you assume that all the companions are giga talented even though there is no mention of such giga talent anywhere

instead you should assume that companions got lucky breaks the same as you did with kofuko, hell it's pretty much explicit witn niwamaru, the same sort of thing may as well have happened to all the other ones too, and you're lucky to have gotten into a nepotism power race
>>
>>98780373
What sort of lucky breaks could have sped up their training time anon?
>>
>>98780373
So now you're adding headcanon to cover for headcanon? Niwamaru proves nothing because she's in the same boat as you, there is no reason to believe the same thing is happening with every other companion other than your need to cover for your setting breaking fanfiction
>>
>>98780361
assuming talented took magmatic with eccentric, then mutated also gets an extra 3 points from rivals giving more from trobule magnet so trouble magnet counts for 8 points in the comparison rather than 5

karmic outlaw is cancer, but that's 7 points

withering blossom is even more cancer, but it's 8 points

for a milder version of the same, you can pivot towards the corrupt pool combo for 7 instead of one of those, but that takes a positive alteration

if you don't like these, even if you replace one of them with a 5 or 4 point alteration, you're still about that many points ahead

either way, and keeping in mind that your head start was 13 and not 16 (?), you can see that they are still in the lead if you cancermax
>>
>>98780381
>>98780385
there is precedent for people getting techniques quickly for free, you can call it headcanon if you want but it actually happens and resolves this issue, and by the way this issue exists whether you think it takes 100 years or 10 years to learn a legendary so you NEED an explanation like this

what else could have happened, in your mind? and is it headcanony?

Gee you think? Also the starting difference is 16 because Talented starts with 10 more and gets another 6 from eccentric (which is free because they have an extra slot). Nice job throwing in trouble magnet which is the worst drawback besides Withering blossom because it scales, If I am actually masochistic enough to take it I could get it through my Ambivalent alteration on talented.

My point is that even taking basically ALL of the worst drawbacks at once only puts you about equal (MAYBE slightly higher) than talented.

>>98780446
so are you if you stack most options, i doubt noriko has six simultaneous prodigy alterations, something else must have happened to her, maybe she got a special encounter similar to what kofuko did to you, if you don't like that then maybe you can headcanon that she reincarnated with meridians from her pasts life through a freak incident (at least it's similar to the description of terracotta warriors), etc.

People are talented in the setting, it doesnt take that long to learn techniques. Its pretty simple.

Look, an example of someone you can't say used vessel transfer. Yomi is from the Hair Tribe, that hate alchemy, she got a G3 affinity and a G3 eye technique.
She wouldn't get vessel transfered due to how her tribe sees alchemy and how they literally want to kill the Dynasty that does alchemy.

this just means that there must be other exotic means of learning techniques at extreme speed that are not normal learning methods, there needs to be some sort of explanation and this is the cleanest, any other isn't compativle with the cyoa's text and the author's claims

>>98780534
link it again then, because iirc it was less than a year under the assumption that you have boosters like prodigy, not on its own

To further elaborate:
>How long would it take, say an average G1 person with no benevolent alterations beyond racial ones, to learn a 6 point G1 technique from a book?
>It's a soft amount, depending on the aptitude of the user, the affinities required for the technique, how or if they're being trained by someone who alreayd knows it, how good that person is at transferring techniques through tutelage, and a myriad of other factors that are too ambiguous to make a numerical calculation for. It will be faster if you have a higher affinity, already konw Techniques that use that affinity, have a teacher, are naturally talented, etc. It'll be slower if you lack these factors. Beyond that relativistic scale, I can't give hard numbers. It's sort of like asking how long it would take a person with a 100 IQ to learn integral calculus. There's so many circumstantial factors to consider that a hard number is nearly impossible.
>Even just a general timeframe, like months or years, would be nice. Doesn't have to be hard and fast.
>I'd say basics probably do not take a full year if you already know a Technique that's in the same ballpark as the one you want to learn. I don't want to get into the weeds here, if I wanted to put hard numbers on training times I'd have already put them in the CYOA itself.

Anon, it wouldn't be hard sci-fi. It'd be the soft science-fantasy shit you see in setting like the elder scrolls or warhammer 40k. Anon was talking about using magic to cheat and skip steps in the process of getting from modern tech to future tech, meaning it'll have all kinds of magic wibblyness involved.
For example: you'd be able to shut off anon's nano-bots by using infinite inertia on them, which might brick them permanently since the aura effects might have been running something sensative.
>>
>>98780565
>Confirmed. Kofuko is the number 1 user of that technique and her rival is a rival, so she should not be far behind.
not a problem, companions are worse than the player character, so this doesn't disqualify companions from being worse types of conscripts

>Everything but Challenged is a very talented soul.
also not a problem, there are like 30 companions among 20 million youdu inhabitants, why couldn't they have very talented souls?

>it being able to happen once, doesn't mean it will happen again
but if it has to happen to make the lore and author comments compatible with each other, then it's the best explanation, anything else is far worse

You mean the tricks she picked up in a couple months despite having no experience with Aura before visiting the city unlike the other companions and not being a conscript?
>>
>>98780649
That's another reason limitless meridians is so good is our genetics become ubermensch level and everyone will want us.
>>
>>98780642
>there's no sense in doing anything other than 100% potential with no room for anything else.
Yes there is, because potentialman gets btfo by haremfags. A fully optimized haremfag isn't just able to build a harem of custom potentialfag waifus, they can mindfuck YOUR build into joining their harem too. Potentialman is the natural prey that the Haremfag hunts in their native environment.
>>
>>98780662
Overpowered protects them.
>>
>>98780659
Atp what even is a potential build? Limitless meridians and not fucking yourself in aura capacity? Talented and Prodigy alterations too I suppose. You can learn whatever you in a reasonable amount of time.

nope.

>>
>>98780659
Honestly, thats kind of a bad thing. I would like to breed a lot, but having a lot of kids with limitless meridians is dangerous.
Its spreading too much power. I would like a technique to recude the potential of my genes passed. Just in case I want to breed Ono or the blue oni twins without my kids becoming weapons
>>
>>98780667
It says enough that potentialmans all hide in their own singleplayer universes to avoid any haremfag predators.

>>
>>98780655
Trying to argue for super long training times is even worse for build variety tho? I already said so here >>98780399 >>98780305

Yea basically. Institute Apprentice during age of Truth is pretty comfy as an adventure too.

Yea all the builds are basically the same as a result and overpowered gives enough breathing room for people to actually make their REAL builds that they would be working up to on talented.

How does your mind work so badly.
The thing next to less than a year, is a year. And the thing next to it is more than 1 year.

1 year and 6 months is more than a year. Yet, saying 1 year and 6 months are "years" is wrong.
Did you understand it now?

It's dumb.
>>
>>98780731
Didn't lie a single time here. Why are you so invested in this, anyway? I honestly know that the question was answered in that manner. That answer is also compatible with the text in this thread.
>>
>>98780669
By the time you get limitless meridians, a vast aura, and full affinities you have spent 25 points out of a 45 base. Combine that with as you said the other options you would be an idiot not to take and there is basically nothing left. Like for me I would 100% take limitless meridians, prodigy, sacred fountain, and perennial lotus. Boom all 4 slots used up. Then I would take technique artisty as that other anon is right that it is crazy good and we had a good discussion about the crazy differential between master and legend and that basically you can't reach legendary by yourself. Finally I would take Illumination of the Heart as it is the one and only protection against a large number of irresistible ass raping abilities.

All of these are just complete must haves to me and you might be able to squeeze something more but basically everything is spent.
>>

Either he said years or he didn't. He didn't. You said he did.
now you are saying its compatible, but one thing is a possibility and another thing is acting like something is.
You were acting like it was like that. WOG proved you wrong and you went back on your word and now you are trying to argue that in the worst case scenario of you not being specially talented, nor having other basic techniques, it could be more than 1 year. And from that "could be more than a year" you go to "years, he said years". I explain to you that he didn't and you "you are splittinghairs"
It's simply a matter of you lying, not wanting to admit you were wrong and keep lying.

Anyway, sadly I have to go to sleep. Have fun lying to other anons in other discussions. Take my advice and say Junko is the daugher of Yama confirmed, it is more credible.

I made a potential build with that combo a year ago. I focused more on exploring the solar system. Also a lot was said about regenerating aura on one side of a portal while doing things on the other side of it.
>>
>>98780892
>People just argued that you can't make rocket fuel with transfiguration + transmutation for some reason.
...what?
Transmutation would let you turn sand into crude oil if you wanted, why couldn't it make rochet fuel?
For fucks sake, It can explicitly COPY TECHNIQUES.
Anons are really out here trying to argue the sky isn't blue if a blue sky is part of a build they don't like.
>>
>>98780905
>It can explicitly COPY TECHNIQUES
Once again: FUCK ALCHEMISTS
>>
>>98780905
Well, in space, you also need to generate new matter for the delta-v hacks to really work. Which is why making matter first with transformation before converting it into fuel with transmutation makes sense. Maybe that was too big of a combo for them to understand?
>>
>>98780914
We got a discussion about this, WOG said just very simple techniques, and with limitations.
It can't even make traits freely.
Its not that good.
>>
>>98780926
That is reasonable in common usage, but I'm also sure that you could build a technique cathedral for a decade and have that work as a legendary technique. These things scale if you put massive amounts of knowledge, resources, and aura into them.
>>
>>98780915
Eh, that one is more questionable since transmutation is explicit about inorganic. It'd have been more solidly rules legal and cheaper to use a basic conduction mode as transmutation fuel instead.
>>98780926
>It can't even make traits freely
...but Beloved Name Blessing is a Basic Technique.
Belived Name Blessing gives traits.
If transmutation can copy basic techniques, it can copy the effect of beloved name blessing.
I think this is one of the time PCA i just wrong about what he wrote. It isn't the first time.
>>
>>98780944
It's not explicit about inorganic. It's explicit about nonliving. Just summon a dead log, it's both biological and nonliving. Even if you had to summon something living, which isn't the same as biological under explicit logic, you could still just kill it and still get your matter that way.
>>
>>98780944
>I think this is one of the time PCA i just wrong about what he wrote. It isn't the first time.
happened to me as an author a lot, you don't remember this stuff after a long time passes since you wrote it

traits similar to beloved name blessing is exactly the first sort of effect that comes to mind when you think about transmutation, if it's not that then what could the enchantments possibly be doing?

you probably do it for twice the aura that way, but still

>>98780944
>If transmutation can copy basic techniques, it can copy the effect of beloved name blessing.
I said very simple techniques, not basic techniques.
>>
>>98780968
In a good-faith reading, basic techniques are simple techniques. The other way around isn't better for your argument, because if it's about complexity instead of power, then a lot of legendary techniques are more simple than some of the basic ones. Eon convulsion does just one thing. That's extremely simple. This makes it clear that treating it in terms of complexity is a bad-faith reading of the technique's description.-
>>
>>98780968
Anon, basoc techniques are the simplest techniques available. If the master status technique that explicitly copies release techniques isn't able to copy basic release techniques, what the fuck is it copying? Not to mention how status techniques are all many times stronger than other techniques on the same tier, like Transmigration letting you summon Any spirit compared to other master summoning techniques.
>>
>>98780990
Master statuses offer breadth, but they aren't as good as great techniques in their own specialty. Lecherous odalisques is better at summoning succubi of an average power level for much cheaper than transmigration does, for example. Maybe the comparison is closer with basic techniques, but I think transmutation would still be somewhat worse at doing beloved name blessing stuff than beloved name blessing is itself, it's just closer because beloved name blessing is a basic technique. So you might get something like twice the cost and they wear out faster, without even a single one staying forever on its own. Or something.
>>
>>98780977
>While you're here, what's the most you can do with Signature Transmutation before you have to bog it down with restrictions?
>Author: I dont konw if giving a concrete example is going to be anyone's solution, so I'll just say if it starts to be exploitative, replicates a release Technique, or clearly exceeds the power level of what's appropriate for a JJK level setting, it's probably not on the menu.
>>
>>98780950
>It's not explicit about inorganic. It's explicit about nonliving
Sure, but needing to summon and then murder your own summons to make fuel sounds like an inefficient use of points and aura.
A basic cunduction techniques are half the points and let you create tsunamis worth of matter continuously for the cost of making 10 humans worth of matter with transfiguration.
Unless you're sold on making minor chimera for other reasons, the conduction mode is more effecient.

This is definitely an invalid WOG. Under that reading, every single given example of transmutation is wrong, because all of that stuff can be done with other techniques. Even some of the non-specific stuff, like "astoundingly powerful", would be entirely blocked off. This means that he's either outright wrong because he forgot what it does, or he didn't phrase himself well.
>>
>>98781011
I wasn't arguing transmutation would be better at it, the technique itself says copying release technique is arua expensive and comes with permanent drawbacks on the item. I was refuting anon's stance that transmutation couldn't even do some very basic things at all.

>>98781047
Or another simple conclusion, if you transmutation to do magical things, they have to be weak effects unless you want to put limitations on it.
You can make it replicate techniques, but it will get severe restrictions, it does even with signature technique.

Its better this way. The opposite is transmutation doing everything because muh prep time. Now you can have transmutation and have your magical custom made artifacts, but you know they will carry restrictions and drawbacks.

>>
>>98781083
No, replicating a technique that costs 1 aura for 20 aura is still replicating the technique. Under the WOG, it still doesn't work.

I was already assuming it's worse than a dedicated technique anyway. A lot worse than a great technique, and somewhat worse than a basic technique. But if you build a tower out of a million basic technique enchantments synchronized to work together? Well.

That's only scratching the surface too, because we're all talking about Transmutation in a Vacuum.
What about when the Alchemist has Legendary Tinkering and individually Transmutes component parts of a larger machine so that all their drawback negate each other until only net positives remain?
What about when the alchemist doing the transmutations has G3 Alchemy, Legendary Ceremony Training, and Legendary Technique Artistry all individually making the enchantment orders of magnitide stronger and stacking with each other exponentially?
What about what the Alchemist also has initiate staus Alchemy and Beloved Name Blessing so they can add attitional blessings and names on top of each individual enchantment?
This very quickly spirals into absurdity with a smart user.

I think you can go even crazier.
So as I understand it, extra stocks by spending auric is limited by the race and number of ancestors, so if year 0 spend all auric on stocks they could choose 10 stocks out of a selection of six copies of the perk, six +4 luck and six +4 to any stat since those are the 3 human stocks and you have 6 human ancestors.
In theory you could start as a vampire, spend auric possibilities to unlock ancestry, make the parents high vampire and take two stats boost stocks, the +55 or +150 twice.

>replicates a release Technique
the technique outright and explicitly tells you it can replicate release techniques, this is the most fundamental contradiction

beyond just that direct and fundamental contradiction, every single concrete example of what transmutation can do is also a replication of other release techniques

permanent enchantments? a lot of them, beloved name comes to mind, but there's probably thirty other techniques

cobalt blue fire? there's a blue fire conduction

levitation? many flow and phase techniques let you do it

>if it starts to be exploitative
the definition of exploitative depends on the context, if some retard argues he can immediately blow up youdu within a few days based on some poorly thought through technicality, that's obviously an exploit, but if he argues he can do it after months of gathering expensive resources and strenuous expert building, it's not (assuming singleplayer, since multiplayer brings additional considerations) exploitative anymore

>clearly exceeds the power level of what's appropriate for a JJK level setting
not a problem, since this still puts the theoretical ceiling at the high end of legendary techniques, and consequently there's still nothing stopping you from arraying many legendary-level enchantments to produce an even bigger one in some manner

This was the question
>While you're here, what's the most you can do with Signature Transmutation before you have to bog it down with restrictions?
The question is about what can you do before bogging it down with restrictions.
Even with signature technique you can't just copy release techniques without restrictions that bog it down.

I knew you would say this ignoring the question.
>but if he argues he can do it after months of gathering expensive resources and strenuous expert building, it's not
it is. Sorry anon but muh preptime of 3 months is not enough to blow up the city. And doing that is above jjk level in the first place.
>not a problem, since this still puts the theoretical ceiling at the high end of legendary techniques, and consequently there's still nothing stopping you from arraying many legendary-level enchantments to produce an even bigger one in some manner
and this is the type of thing the author had in in mind with exploitative.

All variations of "I make X artifacts and I blow up the world" is exploitative and above JJK level setting.
Transmutation was meant to be "create material, objects and do some little enchantments to them" not "hey, wanna blow up the world?"

Let's see something simple. Sukuna's biggest attack, fuga, was treated as a nuke that nobody could survive.
That attack is weaker than the kamhemahe of roshi in the budokai tournament, that destroyed the moon.

Yamcha is thousands of time stronger than that roshi, and is stronger than a guy (vegeta saiyan saga) that could destroy a planet.

Now tell me, does Yuta defeat Yamcha? Yuji? Hakari? Sukuna?
Yamcha is a planet buster.
>>
>>98780266
>>98780275
Nta. I remember doing the math with an estimate based on how the upgrades we see go. A maxed out human trait would end up somewhere around 10000% bonus EXP, and would have some other bonuses too as traits seem to gain new effects every 3 rarities, one of them is skill learn speed, the last one is also probably some other sort of "get shit faster" power. The vampire would have something like 60000 in all stats other than luck at max rarity, with unkown secondary effects at green and orange rarity, which may not even be start related but we don't know for certain. So in a closed off system with a level cap the vampire has the advantage, but since the system doesn't have a level cap, and because of how EXP is calculated, the human will eventually catch up and surpass the vampire. The human is also going to be consistently hundreds of levels higher than the vampire since they need to only kill 1 higher level monster to shoot up hundreds of levels. And lastly, because of how the cyoa works the human can technically get multiple staggered copies of that trait so that they eventually all result in multiple red versions of it, while the vampire can't do that because you can't take vampires as a parent.
The human will also have a shitton of, and better, drops. Being higher level increases drop rate and quality so the human is forced to get a lot more drops simply by the nature of leveling up so fast.

>>
>>98781459
They aren't quite the same thing, apart from just one of them being legendary. Reified goes conduction to body. Medium goes from conduction to any technique.

Furthermore, medium sublimation doesn't have as much of its own emphasis on the conceptual aspects of the elements, meaning that it depends on the recipient technique already being conceptual to get a conceptual technique out of it. If you use medium sublimation on, say, illumination of the heart, that will be some sort of conceptual defensive boost, but that's only because illumination of the heart is already a fairly conceptual type of technique. In most cases, it's supposed to just add elements physically to other techniques.

They're both great techniques for very different purposes. Reified really is about being a core-phase-chad, except without much core or phase being necessary, but they sure combo well, if you get the core and phase initiate statuses at least, this will be very strong. Medium is actually worse for comboing with resolute center and oscillating motion, because it lets you get away with less in the body-boosting context, being more relegated to direct stat boosts rather than the wonky stuff reified lets you get away with. Of course, if you have both techniques, they can be stacked on the same body boosts, which is even more powerful.
>>
>>98781479
>Every single cursed spirit, for the same reasons that cell and buu were so hard for the dbz cast to deal with dedpite multiple attacts blowing them apart: easy regeneration.
Spirits are not like buu or cell (well, Cell had a retcon of his brain tissue but anyway). You could desintegrate everything but 1 cell of buu and buu regenerates.
Spirits die if you destroy their heads or their cores.
One punch of yamcha has enough strength for them to become paste on the floor. They don't regenerate from that.
>None of the dbz cast have cursed energy either, meaning they can't stop CS regeneration or kill them permanently.
I see you went the coward route of no verse equalization...
>There are multiple cursed spirits that instantly kill people on touch unless they have a specific resistance, like mahito.
There is one, Mahito.

Anyway. In this case of yamcha vs cursed spirits. Its easy
Yamcha hits them, they become paste on the floor. They can be affected by physical attacks without cursed tehcniques (see Nanami hitting a wall, breaking it and letting dubris be on Mahito as a way to slow him to stop the fight)
Easy.

Although its easy, its pretty telling how you went for no verse equalization to try to do this. If you had confidence in the verse, you would have chosen the sorcerers, that are the strongest characters, or made verse equalization.

No verse equalization doesn't matter when comparing the power level of verses, but I entertained your idea despite how dishonest it was.
>>
>>98781521
>>98781459
Oh, also. Medium sublimation is just for external combos. It's redundant with other flow techniques that already accept conductions into them. You aren't getting anything out of using medium sublimation on entities, because the entities are already natively sublimated, for example.

Yep, it's one of the more obvious exploits that PCA didn't seem to realize while writing. Makes False Buddha even more useless, since logically every single Aura Slave in the city should be immortal (though a smart spirit probably only gives them a few months at a time to keep them indentured).

Personally I ignore it because it kind of breaks the setting, but it definitely works in multiplayer.

It really does along with a bunch of other stuff. The setting has spirits living (and ruling) among mortals but forgets all the implications at multiple points.
>>
>>98781657
The spirit Lifegiving Immolation Blessing kind of breaks the setting.
The power has no aura cost, so even a tiny spirit could give everyone in youdo functionally infinite lifespan, making the entire race to immortality retarded.
>>
>>98781650
NTA and i'm >>98781640 but yea I might do that. I dunno what I could do with the three points, but off the top of my head I could have signature technique spirit subjugation and oblative gesture which could be cool.

I did genuinely consider instead of 60 aura going universal sovereign, I would have 17 points if I went to 50 aura and took off perennial, but then I have a problem in having delicacy. While I definitely think I can leverage delicacy as a human, as a spirit with universal sovereign I think I really really really don't want delicacy, which means I'd need to make another two points somehow.

you don't know the proportion, the population we know of is the mortal one at around twenty million and things really change depending on how many spirits that participate in civilization there are

what if there's fifty million irrelevant fairies that are considered more like animals than people, meanwhile the number of people-like spirits is just twenty thousand, and of those spirits only a few hundred know lifegiving immolation? or maybe it's considered taboo to sell it because then the exorcist start considering you a cult leader or something

>>

Anon, the issue is that numbers don't matter.
ONE spirit can give a million years to everyone in youdo, because there are no aura costs or time penalties to transfering lifespan. Spirits have infinite lifespan.
>>
>>98781707
lifespan is just one issue, you have to actually access people to do it to them, even with a conveyor belt and doing it all day it would take a long time to touch millions of people, and there's no way spirits that are strong enough for great techniques would condescend to factory work, what they want to do is surround themselves with cults and work on their own shit, not just give lifespan to everyone for no reason, and this creates scarcity

Not if the only price for it is becoming an aura slave. Every single person that submits their aura means a million years of increased aura capacity for the spirit. People would be lining up at temples like they were giving out free blowjobs and pudding.
There's also no reason for the big spirits to refuse new slaves. It takes one moment and no personal cost for the spirit to extend someone's life by multiple kalpa.

Ok by taking eccentric and realigning my shit I found a way to take universal sovereign, and I would have one free alteration slot which I'm thinking should go to universal sovereign. What do you guys think if I did this?
>>
>>98781737
aura slaves are a more specific thing than most spirit worshipers, an aura slave actually needs an aura system that holds more than a point or two and regenerates them over the course of a month, so they're pretty rare, and probably seen as a luxury for the wealthy among spirits

most spirits try to cultivate worship in large ceremonies, not aura slavery specifically, and will try to get people to provide it through any means they can, this doesn't automatically correspond to lifespan extension, they do a lot of other stuff too
>>
>>98781741
oops for the alteration i meant signature technique universal sovereign

You could change it from making you into a summon spirit into a chimera instead.
Have the passive be infinite lifespan with your soul building a sapient chimera body whenever you die and devotion effect allows you to copy biological traits from any organism you see or "infect" any organism you touch to carry any traits you've copied.

>chimeras don't have aura pools,
Anon, every sapient creature has an aura pool. It comes free with having a soul.
Most chimera are non-sapient animals and are already such a massive issue. Now immagine what they could do if given aura, that's why sapient or humanoid chimera are all "Kill on Sight" designated.
You, a person who is sapient and already talented enough to have an aura pool of 20+, would make a Very aura capable chimera.
>>
>>98781789
you gotta count prodigy too, that makes using the aura burst way more efficient, so it would be 240
>>
>>98781789
Makes sense to me
>>
>>98781795
Anon, every sapient creature has an aura pool. It comes free with having a soul.
Only humans and their offshoots have souls, animals and chimeras do not have souls. PCA even cleared this up about chimeras specifically when I asked him the other day.
>>
>>98781797

>>
>>98781808
They're still a chimera and don't have souls. You can hunt humanoid chimeras guilt free.
>>
>>98781767
You know this is actually something else to think about. On a long term time scale, spending the Aura burst to cultivate would probably be the best use of such a one in a lifetime event. Oh man we are potential maxing the Aura burst now.
>>
>>98781808
i think they aren't called humanoid chimerae if they have souls, if they have souls they're just a mutated human

humanoid chimerae are only pretending to be human offshoots, because it's a very effective strategy
>>
>>98781809
>Those aren't things realistically benefited from an aura burst?
The training section is at least. Several of the master and legen rank skills are impossible to achieve withput aura assisted training, even if the final product is still mundane.
There's going to be a lot more ancient rank equipment floating around after the population of sorcerers with transmutation and beloved name blessing skyrockets.
You've got me on allies though.
>>
>>98781816
I wouldn't treat meridian expansions as cultivation though.
>>
>>98781808
Humanoid chimeras are a blight because they can blend in with humans and breed with each other to produce even more humanoid lookalike soulless monsters. Think of like the ghouls in tokyo ghoul, except rather than having the weird back tentacles they just run the gamut of weird monster biology stuff.
>>

Anon, YOU ARE A SOUL.
How would a chimera based varient of universal sovereign be different from using vessel transference to take over a chimera body???
>>
>>98781824
No probably not. Softie was just using the existing mechanics for the made up scenario that anon posted. Still spending the burst increasing your reserve is possibly a very good idea. The only issue is everyone else will have used it to get stronger.
>>
>>98781831
look dude, chimera is cyoa terminology for something that doesn't have a soul, just accept it

>>
>>98781829
I appreciate the ideas. I've already got five legend skills in all the ones I really care about.
>>98781831
Huh? I'm not arguing with you about the universal chimera thing you proposed. It's cool but I agree with the other guy that said it was more like a core technique. I see where you're going with that though, and if we consider universal sovereign to be the "transmigration" route of alchemy attaining immortality, something like you say would maybe work as a "transfiguration" way of immortality, though how that would be an alchemy and not a core technique I don't know.
>>
>>98781829
The aura boost wouldn't speed that up though. Only aura based stuff is effective (in fact people should remember that prodigy doesn't make you learn normal skills faster, fast learner does which is another reason that even after the potential maxer basics, we usually invest in trainings over techniques).

>Chimera don't have souls
When did PCA say this, because it Directly contradicts the lore document. Not like the jjk argument earlier where PCA was just saying high power options deep drawback either.
The lore doc says:
>What even Is Aira
>The energy of the soul. To be more clear, the energy that Permits Experiential Consciousness.
If Humanoid or Sspient Chimera are sapient, then they have to have aura. If they don't have aura, then they can't be sapient.
If PCA said sapient Chimera don't have souls, he's contradicting the lore doc.

>>
>>98781853
Just the other day let me find the screenshot that got taken, and it doesn't actually contradict anything. In fact, the cyoa outright says this in the human race option. Humanoid chimeras, sapient or not, just don't have souls due to being chimeras.

>Humanoid chimeras, sapient or not, just don't have souls due to being chimeras.
Anon, neither that screenshot nor the section you mention say this.
In the screenshot PCA anon says chimera don't normally haves souls or supernatural powers, but they can have those things given to them.
The human section says humans AND THEIR RELATIVES are the only thing that possess souls.
By all logic, using a human as an ingredient in chimera creation should net you a chimera with a soul.
A humanoid chimera that was just shaped like a human by a transmuter would probably lack one, but the Lore doc clarifies that anything lacking an aura pool also isn't sapient.
>>
>>98781921
You can just start without the stance on and then turn it on afterwards, that way you're in the altered timeframe as your baseline.
>>
>>98781929
the screenshot litearlly does say it

>>
>>98781929
What the anon says, chimeras just don't have souls. In fact my chimeralord build was predicated on this exact assumption, putting soul coagulation souls in humanoid chimera bodies. Hence why I asked whether they have souls or not.
>>
>>98781936
>Do chimeras normally has souls
>Do chimeras NORMALLY has souls
>NORMALLY
Anon, question 3 he he even specifies that there should be exceptions to this
On top of that, He admitted he forgot shit and might be contradicting himself
The lore doc contradicts the idea of any sapient chimera lacking a soul.
You options are
>PCA didn't mean what you thought
>PCA meant what you thought and is wrong according do the written text
Neither option helps your case.
>>
>>98781954
they don't abnormally have them either because that's the entire fluff behind them, only humans have souls blah blah blah humanoid chimeras are convergent evolution impostors not human offshoots blah blah blah
>>
>>98781940
Anon, I'm not saying all chimera have souls by default. Most chimera don't, all sources agree on this.
The point I'm arguing is that sapient chimera, a small subset of chimera mentioned in the cyoa as a separate threat, have to have souls accordimg to the loredoc.
If you made nonsapient chimera to use as vessels, your build is unaffected. If you were using humans to make sapient chimera Before trying to insert souls is how you'd run into issues.
>>
>>98781954
I want you to remember that the text you're taking as gospel from the lore doc is from an unreliable narrator giving his opinion.

Some of these discussions aren't bad, but lets avoid some obviously bad ones.
Powerfagging discusions like >>98781234 are the worst. Metalogical, off-topic, obvious, and boring.
Contridicting reasonable authority rather than conceding the point and moving on with the discussion like >>98780157.
Comparing CYOAs in uninteresting ways like >>98779594. Who cares? Powerfags?
Totalities like >>98780642. Ok? That's conjecture and boring. You have from a meta perspective, invalidated someones build without providing anything in return.
Anything that is offtopic twice removed like >>98781128.
>Refutation of Strawman -> Strawman Against Alchemy in General -> Plan Against Setting Specific Alchemy -> CYOA
Engaging with offtopic like >>98781639.
Discussion around apparent setting breaking contridictions that are actually matters of ambiguity like >>98781593. It's ambigious and if it were a setting breaking contridiction, then the setting would be broken. It isn't so therefor the contridiction does not exist. And thus discusion around it is no different than discusing what if all options were free.

No, they shouldn't be sapient if they don't have souls.
You can have unsapient creatures that form compleye sentences and can lure in prey by mimicing behavior, See IRL LLMs or Frieren demons.
