>When the days themselves were young, when Weaver first grew jealous of Wyld and Wyrm, it took a piece of itself, and crafted a daughter, Ananasa. She was charged with being the Weaver’s companion and assistant, and she accepted with grace.

>When the world was still incomplete, but the Triat were already arguing amongst themselves, Ananasa gathered the stray energies of their squabbles. As she was crafted, so did she craft Spider. He was charged with ruling the insects, and he accepted eagerly.

>When Wyld was fusing spirit and flesh, and creating the Ovid, Weaver grew jealous again. Ananasa simply counseled it to do the same. Thus were the Arthropoda created: Bee and Moth, Hornet and Locust, Ant and Termite. They were charged with creating Order from Chaos, but the moths refused. So the Weaver crushed their spirits.

>The story continues, but Moth is not a part of it. Weaver betrayed Wyrm, but Moth was not there for it. Spider joined the rest of the Arthropoda, then annihilated them, but Moth was not there for it. Humans rose, the Gauntlet rose, the arrogance of the Garou rose, but Moth was not there for any of it.

>So how are the Mothkin here now?
>>
>>98781143
>Ask the Corax, who have explored the breadth and depth of the Umbra, and they'll tell of the many secret places where Mothkin could have hidden, how it might make no sense for the Mothkin to flee if their patron spirit was crushed at the beginning of time, but that time itself is illusory in the Deep Umbra.

>Ask Cicada, who has just welcomed his own kin back from extinction, and he'll muse that the song to wake the dead werecicadas must have brought back other Arthropoda as well.

>Ask the Ananasi, and they'll have their own questions. Where you saw a Mothkin, and when, and what Gifts they were blessed with. It will quickly become clear the Ananasi are less concerned with where the Mothkin came from, than how to be rid of them again.

>Ask the Garou, and perhaps they'll defer to their Theurges. Maybe those Theurges will speculate. The creation of the atomic bomb played havoc on the Umbra, creating new spirits and sending others, especially ones aligned with Helios, into a frenzy. Similar disruptions came with the moon landing. The Mothkin's aspects are baded on both sun and moon, so perhaps these dislodged something within the Umbra, and called them back into existence.

i am going to run dtf using the translation gude to cofd mechanics next weekend and i am very sure that my group would take this
>"You are unwelcome in our master's woodland domain. Turn back now." the choir of animals say in unison. How would you deal with this situation?
and not go "oh there is a spirit, vampire or werewolf here" no they would go "LET'S GO FIGHT GOD'S MINIONS" and i think that would even be in character what happens then... i dunno we haven't made the characters yet and i haven't gotten a good feel on how strong a char gen fallen is. would be funny if they just died to some critters but i know one of my players has been waiting for years to play a demon so they will probably be super minmaxed

Black Dog Games shuttered before they could publish it, you want the book by the studio that bought the rights to their game engine, Ivory Road.
>>
>>98781313
If you look at the W20 Changing Breed book, each section for the splats opens with a History section. That's my idea for a "History" for mothkin.
>>
>>98781297
for the most part it doesn't in a way that is accepted by either side

wta had god be a weaver incarana of the patriarchy because goat boy loves doing that. he did the same in the cofd changing breed book but later books dropped that and even has christian werewolves who believed god to be gaia

mage in general has the Triat as just being major spirits related to be metaphiscial trinity but not as the same thing so there is stuff that is entropic but not wyrmish like wraiths and the underworld for example and the One is a tier above them

and dtf hints but never confirmes that gaia and the triat are loyalist archangels
>>
>>98781357
>gaia and the triat are loyalist archangels
I think if you turn and squint, Ramiel creating Nephilim can be compared to the Wyrm creating fomori, but Ramiel isn't a loyalist.
>>
>>98781400
the triat thing comes from days of fire mentioning that 4 loyalist angels got throwin into the abyss as well and michael threw his sword away after lucifer told him something in private on a battlefield which some people combine with the bleeding man story and noddism

the gaia stuff is because fera prioritize killing fallen even over wyrm spawn and the proto fera war servitor have a named Rabisu archangel creator who's name i can't look up right now because it's 4 am here and i am in bed already but she would have to be either gaia or luna's counterpart in dtf
>>
>"You are unwelcome in our master's woodland domain. Turn back now." the choir of animals say in unison. How would you deal with this situation?
I would chuck an iron bar at them. This is clearly fae trickery.

(Mage 20th, Book of the Fallen)

>Chances are that someone in your gaming group — regardless of their gender — has been sexually assaulted at least once in their life.

No they are not, what the fuck kind of groups have you been playing with
>>
>>98781582
>No they are not, what the fuck kind of groups have you been playing with
wicca sex cults would be the answer for the author not even joking
>>
>>98781297
Apparently one archangel became the world tree, Zianna green mother earth of red fang and claw. That combined with the werewolves being rabid upon seeing demons implies they might be descendant of the angel super soldiers used during the old war of rebels vs heaven. Meanwhile one anon told me that gathering the bloody man story, days of fire, noddism and the part where michael throws his sword away spawned a theory back then about how Michael might've become the Wyrm. Which is an incredibly spicy take
>>
>>98781582
They probably mean "sexual assault" as in "sexual harassment" like groping or getting whistled at. Which yeah has a good chance of having happened at least once or twice among a group of individuals
>>
>>98781582
The author likely based it around the group of people he played with or knew
>in a cult
>diddled as kids by a bad family member
>huge slut in college got taken advantage of
The usual. Something about those things lead to a sort of regard or obsession for sex that's relatively unhinged

>Boot up the Princes of Darkness mod for CK3
>The medieval world is covered in vampires
>Forget purging the vampires, the forces of the Inquisition is literally just trying to survive
>Not helped by the fact that humans have basically no advantages in this world
>After all, there's nothing stopping a vampire from also becoming a sorceror, a demonologist, and even a user of the power of True Faith, they can even cure themselves of then need to feed through Golconda
>Just about the only advantage the inquisition has in this tidal wave of superpowered vampire knights that can kill dozens their number of mortal knights is the fact that their entire society is built around being a leech so their buildings are kinda shit compared to what the Inquisition gets
I don't know if this is accurate but it is bleak
>>
There are no mechanical rules to Garou interacting with Demons, beyond the Garou getting a positive result off Sense Wyrm around them, are there?
>>
>>98781696
PoD hasn't touched Hunters in literal years. Initiating a new Hunter is a shitty reskin of the embrace mechanics, down to it treating the new hunter as if they were your kid.

Honestly, it's a very high effort mod, but I don't think it's a well-designed one. What the mod author adds is extremely arbitrary and it has basically no way to curate what you want to actually show up. Despite the number of bookmarks, the amount of actual different maps is tiny. The only fun you can really have with it is making a crazy OP character and going around dunking on OCs. Otherwise, it's a fairly underwhelming mod to actually play.

Every once in a while I give it another try, and every time I find it disappointing.
>>
>>98781696
I feel like if a vampire can achieve Golconda, and is interested in actively maintaining it one of the most amazing pieces of lore to me is how Saulot walked away from Golconda you can deprioritize them for hunter purposes

Are there any fucking splats that don't read as Wyrm? Fallen Angels should still be Weaver coded to me.
>>
>>98781437
>michael threw his sword away after lucifer told him something in private on a battlefield
Probably that lucifer was a loyalist who was false flagging on God's orders
>>
>>98781696
the actual age of the inqusition/age of fire only happens 200 years after the game starts and it spawns church backed kinda crusades but before that yeah you are pretty much 4 orders and 1 familly against the darkness while the mainstream church ignores you

inqusitors only really featured in their own book and mage (and mage isn't out in the mod yet) the whole independent hunters thing is already something the mod authors fully made up themselves because dark age hunters just have no content
>>
>>98781796
Whoever voted Uktena is definitely keeping a captive in their basement.
>>
>>98781696
>I don't know if this is accurate but it is bleak
to go a bit more into detail the shadow inqusition is simultaneously hyped up as being the mage breakers who fucked up 4 fellowships (proto traditions) and traumatized a countries garou so hard that they still talk about it but also have done nothing onscreen for 350 years and then only did something because a bunch of normies got involved in the monster hunting buisness and they didn't even cause that as half the vampire clans and the free manson claim they did that. they also aren't mentioned in dark age fae, dark age werewolf and in devil's due the demons play them like a fiddle

so i wouldn't know how to fix them in 1230 despite that being the starting date of the book like they have all the characters but the medivial samuel height but also arthas rip off are in the game and he is a antagonist anyway. they have all their canon holdings in fact they even have more as the murnau are meant to be a minor bavarian noble familly not the bavarian royal familly. It's just that they are a footnote in the timeline right now unless you are a mage for some reason

still they don't have it as bad in the mod as demons do
>>
>>98781861
I almost did...
>>
>>98781835
Plus isn’t the mod NWoD where most hunters aren’t even empowered by angels or whatever so they’re basically hopelessly outmatched most of the time
>>
>>98781796
We don't have enough based Get voters in here
>>
>>98781884
What’s wrong with demons in the mod? Surely being immortal at least grants them a major advantage
>>
>>98781887
no the mod is dark age owod
>>
>>98781896
its only been 30 minutes with 8 votes, im predicting that we have around 60 unique ips
>>
>>98781898
yes it's very hard to perma kill a demon in the mod but because EVERYONE hates (-100 opinion) infernalists and they are meant to use a corruption mechanic that the ai can't really use to convert other splats to their "religion"/ infernalism then use interactions to enslave them and because of that pretty much all demons beside the ones in russia (baba yaga's vampire faith being custom made to be chill with infernalism) usually end up homeless a few decades after the game starts

baali have a similair problem in that they can't hide that they are baali
>>
>>98781899
Ah, I was confused cause I don’t recall the hunters or inquisitors having interactions with the uh, “messengers” or whoever it is that gives them superpowers in OWOD
>>
>>98781993
that's the imbued who are from Hunter the reckoning and they are really limited to the Time of judgment event at the end of the metaplot

dark age inqusitors despite being build on some (but not all the template is somewhat different) of the same mechanics and the fact that they are very obviously meant to be the dark age version of hunter are lorewise completely disconnected and are instead a more indepth showing of true faith
>>
>>98781887
Some hunters can get Endowments in nWoD. They're faction-based, and they can be anything from being able to take out a relic on loan from the Vatican to having demonic ancestry to being an employee of a corporation that chop shops supernaturals to make cybernetics out of their pieces.

Which version of Werewolf is the best to pick up for a new GM? Is there a big split between lore and crunch quality?
>>
>>98781582
Was this book written by goatfucker yes or no
>>
>>98782211
Like pretty much every oWoD vs. nWoD/CofD, there are both lore and mechanical differences. They are both games about werewolves with at will shifting and spirit powers, beyond that it's a matter of personal preference. I'd suggest actually reading the core for both if you want to make an actual informed decision, you're not likely to get nuanced takes here.

WtA you're fighting a losing battle against modernity, industrialism, and a primordial god gone mad. Tribes are parochial to real world cultures. The apocalypse is just around the corner, are you a bad enough dude to stop it?

WtF you're the moon-cursed last line of defense against a whole gaggle of spiritual horrors and lunatic monsters. Tribes are archetypal. How will you handle the beast within, and hold your ground against a manifold of things that never should've been.

The consensus mechanically is that CofD is the better core system, but not so overwhelmingly that most people are willing to choose it if they prefer an oWoD game's lore.
>>
>>98782276

Well, out of oWoD how do all the variants hodl up?
>>
>>98782284
What do you mean by variants?
>>
>>98782284
I'm not an expert, the oWoD editions are like 90-95% mechanically compatible with each other. Some people really hate Revised for trying to rein in the more extreme end of things, but also Revised is the edition where the apocalypse is actually beginning and leads to the actual apocalypse adventures. So IMO it's kind of bipolar lore wise.

It's all the same setting (except for WoD5, avoid 5th edition for all games at all costs), just they keep adding and tweaking it as time goes on. There's not really a wrong answer, but people will have their preferences.
>>
>>98781750
>amazing
Why?
>>
wtf I just learnt that the king of werewolves is a jew.
I love Shadow Lords now.
>>
>>98781807
some are but they always have on exception some make sense and some are pretty much just there so woofs have a common way to sense them

mages unless they are high (or rather down) on jhod

changelings unless they are house balor. Thallain should also but i am not sure if they do

mummies unless they are bane mummes but that one barely counts as you don't usually become a bane mummy as a mummy

and the weirdest one is wraiths unless they have temporary angst above 4 because it needs to be temporary angst not permanent angst and acording to wta wraiths are meant to be outside the domain of the Triat and even more entropic stuff like risen don't ping as wyrm tainted. It pretty much only exist so garou can possibly notice that they are being skinridden by a wraith

shih and inqusitors are fine if you count them as splats but they aren't fine with garou existing at all
>>
>>98782360
Shih don't mind the shen existing, its their excess that catches their attention.

Shadow Lord/Ventrue Abomination. Blood Preference is Kinfolk, runs a consulting company staffed entirely by them. Aggressively recruits his employees via kidnapping, ghouling and Ventrue mind whammy disiciplines.
After a while said Abom realizes he has a limited amount of blood, at some point he's going to have to stop abducting kinfolk. This is unacceptable. He kills a chantry full of Tremere, taking with him a Hematologist turned Tremere who-cares-they're dead. He then attempts to Ghoul her, despite her not being a Kinfolk of any kind, unaware that this does not "Ghoul" her it bloodbonds her. She proceeds to whip up some weird ass Sorcerous ritual that works with the taintsd Gaian for es in his blood that, incidentally; is why Werewolf blood counts for double the points when spending blood. Point is, thanks to this they're no longer bottle necked by hkw much blood his body naturally produces and no kinfolk in the Tristate area is safe.
All however is not well at the company. The new hire is not getting along with the entrenched kinfolk, and their Garou family members are starting to notice their chronic absence, captives who could not be ghouled due to having notice are piling up and unknowningly, he's snatched some kinfolk associated with the PCs.

5e is the modern corpo version that really defangs the lore and is hated by a lot of grognards, but loved by redditors and people who go "yikes, metis? thats the name of a real world culture you know.. you can't use that word.."
20th anniversary is the evil chud version full of in lore shit like bestiality references, rape, eugenics and other spicy 90s shit. It's also a less streamlined system. All the other versions of werewolf are basically just 20th anniversary with minor changes. The only real difference is 5th vs 20th vs CofD.
>>
>>98782548
>yikes, metis? thats the name of a real world culture you know

>The Métis[a] are a mixed-ancestry Indigenous people whose historical homelands include Canada's three Prairie Provinces extending into parts of Ontario, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories and the northwest United States.
What the fuck? Why did White Wolf name the Garou freak babies after a random group of abbos?
>>
>>98782607
IIRC they were going for a French term, hence the slightly different spelling.
