>Hey thanks for joining our lance! Sadly, we're just starting out so we're not spoiled for choice. You'll have to pilot an UrbanMech for nowHow do you respond without sounding mad?
>>98809804Is it at least the one with the AC20, so I can one-shot other light mechs?
>>98809804An Urbanmech is unironically a better ride than a Stinger or Wasp, which are way more likely, and you'll probably be getting boring but safe guard duty in a mech like that. Anything is better than being Dispossessed.
>>98809804Depends on what variant. Which is?
>>98809804>drop the ac and laser>push in flamethrowers>ready for the urban holocaust>no camp>no gas chamber>just crematory
>>98809804Dibs on the AIV one, since nobody's claimed it.
>>98809804Drop all armorput the biggest gunYOLO
>>98809804Hey, it's nicer than shoving someone into an Arbiter and giving them a false sense of hope that it's anything but the gruntiest of grunts.
>>98809862The Arbiter isn't even for grunts, it's for the meat wave. Putting them in something like a Quasit promotes them to grunt.
>>98809804depends on mision
>>98809881Dropship drop in the middle of the enemy base, objective: Destroy 4 jenners.
>>98809804>Anything is better than being DispossessedThis. Death before dismount!
>>98809921
>>98809804As long as we are sticking to tight quarters urban defence.>its all fun and games until the alleyways start talking in AC-20
>>98809862>>98809868I unironically love this thing. It's built for intimidating idiots who don't know better but its got nothing more then a heavy rifle that's made to look more like a proper weapon, but its still useful because its easy to repair and cheap for those who can't get better.
Makes the enemies tears all the sweater when I blast their mechs to bits.
>>98809992Why would they destroy their own sweaters?
>>98810000They are so mad they can't think straight.
>>98810006Ah, I see, that makes sense.
>>98809960
>>98810000Lying on the floor, I've come undone?
Do you have a decent MechTech? I've got LB10X that fell off the back of a truck. Or at least funds for special ammo for a stock AC10.
Same thread at /v/ but acfag derailed that one already.
>>98809826Hello???????
>>98809826the one with the AC-10
>>98811112That's perfectly serviceable if used in its correct context. I'd much rather be in one of those as Joe Mechwarrior than a piece of shit like a Stinger.
>>98809804You know, with the modern buff, and even before then, I'd probably have a variant that yanks the AC10 for a Thunderbolt/15. You get another ton for ammo. Sure, you still can't move well and your ammo endurance is actually worse, but indirect fired 15 point hits is fun.
>>98811112In that case, I simply ask>Where's the firing range?Even the strongest 'Mechs only have 9 armor in the head. There's certain sidegrades that resist an AC/10, but that'll just mean I need to hit them twice for the breach.
>>98815498The head has three internal. You need another two damage to secure the kill, that's why cERPPCs are so much more dangerous than the standard model.
>>98809804As long as its mounting an Arrow IV launcher with the extra spicy warheads.
>>98809804I wouldn't be involved in anything that features walking trashcan mechs, so I wouldn't have to respond to such a scenario in the first place.
>>98809804Uh, I don't? In fact, that's what I wanted! As long as I have cover, we will be having fun here.
>>98815520It has 3 internal to secure a kill. But with 9 armor, I deal 1 damage to internals which guarantees a crit, and the head has a lot of shit you can fuck up with just 1 crit.
>>98809804I immediately kill myself.
>>98809804Not into Battletech, how is this worse than just not being a mech pilot?
>>98822660It's as low as you can go without being in a bugmech. The Urbie barely goes fast enough to get an evasion modifier in a straight line on flat terrain while running, has a good gun but nothing to back it up except a Small Laser it'll never be in range to shoot, respectable armor that'll still be punched through by its own cannon, and generally gets memed up because it's called trash can not trash can't. The best model is the Suburbanmech, since that switches the AC/10 for a PPC with the same damage and range that gets a minimum range in exchange for not needing ammo, a couple Medium Lasers for close range, and a heavier engine that lets it actually move across the map.
>>98822660It's the mech equivalent of an obsolete Soviet shitbox. It's undergunned, underpowered, slow, and easily defeated by any mech-tier firepower anyone wants to bear. At the same time, it still is a mech and presents a mech-size target, both physically and for kill count. To be fair, Urbies have their niche in that as the name suggests, when used in dense cover (cities) to set up ambushes and combined with non-mech units, they can be pretty effective defenses or delaying factors.
>>98822908Even as an ambusher in a city, their mobility is almost nothing because 2 JJ range can't get over most tall buildings, so what you end up with is a single AC20 that is going to die in place after getting off 1-2 shots, and the Urbanmech is a bit too expensive for that kind of trade to be attractive. If the Urbanmech was 3/5/3 it would be so goddamn much better, as is the case for the Suburbanmech that >>98822687 mentions.
>>98822687>>98823040There's a weird faster SRM and large laser model now, too, that has been retconned in.
>>98809804Im just happy to serve. Im gonna be the angriest little potato when I fill it with flamethrowers
>>98809804> Yet Another Mech Lab> My favorite mech"Replace the AC and medium lasers with machinegun and small lasers and let see how fast this thing can go."
>>98820904It guarantees a chance of a crit.
>>98809804New to this stuff. What other smaller tash mechs are there?
>>98809844>The wind changes and Anon gets cooked alive because he can't outrun his own fire
>>9882356920 Miles Per Hour. You are raw dogged if the enemy has ghose fire rocket launchers and a Prius.
>>98809804Beats a POS Spider at least.
>>98809844>laughs in Big MAC
>>98822908>It's undergunned,It's anything but undergunned. An AC/10 is a respectable main gun for a Mech 15 tons heavier. But it's very, very slow.
>>98823917Triple the weight of that engine core. You can get it to go fast with the weight liberated.
>>98809804Neat, so what Dropship or supply depot am I guarding?
>>98810211>one arming a Mauser 960HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.
>>98824489Must be an Elemental bondsman.
>>98824494>bondsmanFuck that, whomever that is was probably a fucking Elemental template, a Mauser 960 weighs 10.5kg and that is UNLOADED. A full kitted out Mauser 960 is 15 kilos, with the pulse laser rifle, multishot grenade launcher, vibroblade bayonet, nvg/thermal optic, and survival kit with the following.>two two-hour emergency flares which doubled as fire-starters, a flashlight and batteries for 48-hours of use, a pulse signal stick with visible/infrared strobe light and emergency radio, a folding spade and a medical kit which included a two-day supply of nutrition pills and a five-meter length of self-adhesive bandageThe only redeeming feature of the Mauser 960 was the fact it told body armor to get fucked and the efficiency gave you a good amount of shots in the RPG.
>>98809804"Splendid. When do we begin?"
>No problem>Put an AC20 on it and the largest speakers I can>Play Big Iron at full volume in any and all battles, regardless of if I hit anything or not>Get transferred to another mech sooner rather than later
>>98823876Stinger and Wasp are both utter garbage. The Commando CAN be deadly but is a suicide ride. The Firefly is terrible. The Flea is usually pretty bad. The Jackrabbit was a joke.
>>98826002Looking these up right now. Thank you for the recs. I love me terrible units.
>>98824170You don't know how to use a Spider then.
>>98830044Spider's great if you just use it for what it's for. I'd take a Spider over an Urbanmech even in a "keep what you kill" merc unit.
