So when I was like teenager I drove there a couple times a week to play mtg and 40k, but they also did a bunch of stuff and I was able to enjoy warmachine when it was new and legion when it was new and x-wing and a bunch of games. It was really chill, there was as bunch of terrain in cabinets, all painted, people generally had painted armies, they were competitive and made good lists but they didn't have a bad or angle shooting attitude which I think is a good combo, and there were like 20+ people every single warhammer night for casuals and twice that for events and the store was big enough that it held reported events and people would travel to the store from elsewhere. People would also forget or intentionally leave armies behind the counter or under the tables and they weren't stolen, and people returned cards and models and stuff they found, it was all just really good community.I also played rpg's on a regular basis and even got into running games, which was helpful later in life since I did that throughout college and after and it's a good way to make friends.After college however I moved away from where I grew up, and there isn't really an lgs near me now. There's a card game store but the closest warhammer table is an hour, including an interstate highway, and it's not even that good of a store there's like 2 tables and not many wargamers it's mostly cards. So for the past few years I just haven't been playing much 40k, I travel to events sometimes but that's only a couple times a year. I should do that more I guess.But the upside is I just do at home games with myself. I have a mat, terrain, and 5 armies so I can always just set up a game for myself. The social element and getting out of the house is half the upside of this hobby but oh well.
I wanted combat engineers but the krieg guys looked a bit out of place. Gonna have to tweak the highlights some more but the kitbash worked out
